  1. I certainly hope Ice Melee is ported to Stalkers quickly. I'm one of those that want to get at least one of every AT to 50, but thus far have been unable to find a Stalker pairing I really like. I then thought about the idea of Ice Stalkers, and began to really like the idea. I don't have any Ice characters, and there is just something about an Ice Stalker that I really like.

That the first step towards my Ice Stalker is complete, I eagerly await the proliferation of the Primary.

Not to derail, but I want this so bad. One of my favorite costumes for my Warshade has the Bone Wings. I love them. They look wonderfully creepy when they flap around...as I jump. I want Hover/Fly so bad.

Also, what with my multiple Dustballs out, along with the future Lore Pets, I would seriously consider Team TP. I would, if I had the option.

But I want Hover/Fly for the human form. I can already have it in squid form, so it can't be a balance issue.

There seems to be a few game design decisions made based on the idea that the player might make a bad choice. But there is no stopping that. Especially strange on an AT that used to require you to get to lvl 50 in order to unlock. You'd think by that point the player could be trusted to figure out that taking the same travel power twice might not be that useful.

Sweet! I just recently re-watched TMNT, so I'm ready for some more Turtle stuff, fan made or otherwise.
  4. My only Controller is a Gravity/FF. I feel like both sides of him are being insulted.

PS: I never really had a problem controlling with my Gravity Controller. Though I do wish there was one more soft AoE Control, like a palced field where gravity goes wacky and any enemy inside gets bounced up and down, or something. That would be helpful.

Also, the only problem with Propel, and most of Gravity, is the animation times. If those were cut down, the set would be vastly improved. Maybe not completely fixed, but definitely improved.
  5. When I made Ululate, my Archery/Device Blaster, I quickly noticed what good range Archery had. I also noticed that, unlike my other Blaster, my tier 3 attack could reach just as far as the others. I then decided to do whatever I could to increase range. At 50, I have 3 DMG/Range Hammi-O's slotted in all my attacks. All of them. Yes, I am missing out on set bonuses and the like, but I have plenty of other characters that make use of those. With this one, I wanted a sniper. Speaking of which, I can out-snipe any NPC I come across. My normal attacks can hit enemies from pretty far away. I also took the LRM Rockets from the Ancillary Pool. It is also slotted for max range. I can sometimes snipe/LRM people that aren't even fully rendered on my computer yet.

I made Impetuosity, a MA/SR Scrapper with one purpose: Speed. Any bonus that gave him speed, he took. Swift and Quickness are both 6 slotted. Surprisingly, despite ignoring any set bonuses that didn't increase Movement/Run Speed, he's actually not that bad to play. Not the sturdiest Scrapper by any means, but not nearly as bad as I thought he would turn out. With all outside travel powers turned off, he currently runs at around 52 M.P.H. At lvl 50, Sprint and Ninja Run take him to the speed cap.

I had been building Nuclear Dander, my Rad/Rad Defender, for damage. I never liked doing Defender damage, and wanted to see what I could ultimately pump out. I started working on him a long time ago, then wandered off to other characters. Then the Devs went and added 30% damage to Vigilance while solo. It wasn't long before he was getting logged in and camping at Wentworths. I still have a ways to go with him, but I can't wait to see what happens. Massive +Damage bonuses coupled with Assault and Enervating Field. Mmmmm...

And 2) The final fight, where you are faced with Castillo the buffoon, who you take down only to be faced with the big Malta Titan afterwards. Even if you have seen the titans before, it's an impressive sight getting one barrelling down on you on a burning helipad as you're exhausted but still fighting to do right not only by the PPD but also by the other heroes in the upcoming praetorian invasion.
I must have missed this. Why does it get a lot of flak? I came here to mention this arc.

    Also, Vernan Von Grun.

Pretty much agree with most of the other ones listed.

    Polar Lights..

I didn't plan on unlocking the Lore pets since none of them went with the concept of my Warshade or Peacebringer, currently my only two incarnates. That all changed with the introduction of Storm Elementals and Polar Lights, respectively.

So...yes. I am glad for the Polar Lights. By the sounds of it, I do wish they were a bit bigger, but that is just a minor nitpick on my part. I'm just happy to have them available.
  8. I really like the idea of focusing on Kheld's mastery of energy manipulation. I play a human-form PB, but I would consider at least one of the forms, probably both, if this were allowed.

Also, the single greatest thing I want for my PB is a change to Solar Flare. Change the KB to KU, and allow me the glorious ground-pound animation. I've never really cared for the foot stomp animation. It doesn't bother me, I've just always found it rather bland. The ground-pound is a move I've always loved in comics, and I want it. Imagine your PB's fist lighting up, then quickly striking the ground. All around him/her, energy crackles in the ground, finally bursting out with tremendous force, throwing all the bad guys into the air.

    That's what I'd like, anyway.

    Kung Fu Panda 2

    Loved the movie.

I long ago decided to actively avoid 3D, and I have yet to regret it. It seems almost any time I read up on the latest film people are complaining about how dark it is, how ugly it was or how headache inducing it became. And in the few cases that none of the above get mentioned, most people just point out how the 3D didn't really add much. So it seems that 3D can mess up the whole experience, with the best case scenario being that it doesn't do much.

Sorry for the little 3D rant.

Anyway, loved the movie. There was a certain scene that really tickled my funny bone, but I'll keep it spoiler free as per the OP's request.

I was talking to my fiance after the movie about how sometimes the perfect choice is made in casting, and I really think Jack Black was the absolute best choice for Po. There is just so much excitement and intensity in his voice that matches how Po feels. I'm sure other people could do a decent enough job, but Jack Black just makes everything so natural for the character.
  10. I have my settings on low and I have always found that particular room, (there's another like it), blinding. It does look a lot better at the medium setting.

I do hope they fix them soon. I have no problem with the way the rooms look (on medium), they just drop playability by a lot everytime I enter them.

As an aside, I notice that everyone keeps refering to them as "new warehouse maps". I had always assumed that they just added a couple new rooms and tossed them into the random mision generator. Are these actually supposed to be new maps? Because the rest of the warehouse looks the same as always.
  11. I have had this exact problem since those new rooms launched. There are only two of them, but they sure do make a lot of appearances.

I haven't even done any Incarnate Trials, so hearing that one of those rooms are in them just makes me put off doing them even longer.

When I see the room, my computer lags something awful, to the point that I am reminded of the old Hammi raids I took part in. It's fun to just walk in the room then turn around so I'm looking the way I came. Framerate is fine, then I turn back around and you can almost see the skipping frames jump out of my computer the more I turn.

The Presence Pool was around long before Crabs and Masterminds. At launch most Tanks didn't even have a taunt aura, (I got lucky and picked Inv/, which did). Also, Taunt was single target. Tanks by and large almost had to take Provoke to hold aggro. Later, Taunt was changed to an auto-hit AoE, thus making Provoke optional, as it should have been.

Today other AT's have figured out ways to use it, but its original intent seemed to be for the melee set. I can't fathom the devs in the early days believing a Blaster would want a taunt. But then, after their first pass at an inherent for Blasters, who can say?
  13. I looked around a bit and didn't see any discussion of this.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but I just got around to seeing "All Star Superman", and I have to say...I didn't care for it. Maybe I needed to read the comics first (this is probably the first Bruce Timm movie where I didn't already know the story), but the whole thing seemed rather disjointed. My fiance doesn't read comics at all, but she's enjoyed all the other movies. This one, though, is just...strange.

    (Spoilers!)

I guess it just has a "bunch of stuff happens" vibe that I didn't care for. There really wasn't a cohesive story, so much as an event. Superman is dying, so he does a bunch of stuff. Also, Lois was a jerk in this movie. I guess it's assumed that Superman likes her, so there is no need for the movie to show why. I certainly couldn't figure out why that Superman liked that Lois.

There were also many parts that could have had a lot of drama that were simply rushed over, particularly Superman's reveal to Lois. He just sort of...shows her really quick, then whisks her away to the Fortress of Solitude, where some surreal stuff happens.

In the end, though, Superman winds up fixing the sun. I'm not sure what that means, but thanks to Luther, they could always clone him. Which is a terrible idea.

I really didn't care for this movie. Has anyone else seen it? Upon browsing, I saw a few threads about the new "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights" cartoon, which is shown on the "All Star Superman" DVD, but no mention of the movie itself.
  14. I solo'd a Grav/FF Controller...to 50.

I have it on my MA/SR Scrapper for concept. Don't use it much, but I can think of reasons, particularly if my defenses are rapidly failing.

Regardless, you can attack perfectly fine while running Whirlwind.
  16. Happens all the time, but I certainly wouldn't delete any characters over it, unless you just really hate them.

I played my DP/Pain Corrupter to around 32 before getting bored and moving on to another character. He sat there for months, until I got bored of the other character I made. Then, as I glanced over my characters, I saw my Corrupter and remembered the fun I had and started playing him again.

He just reached 45 last night.

I'm getting bored again, but it's not because the character is bad. It's because I have ideas for other alts and an itch to play some of my already existing characters. As my desire to play other characters rises my desire to play my Corrupter wanes. But even if I don't push through to 50 right now, I know that some day in the future I will see him sitting in my character menu and remember how fun he is. At that point I will lose interest in whatever other character I'm playing at the time and enjoy my Corrupter once more.

Also, don't buy the whole "I have to find which AT I am!" My first character was a Tank, and I found myself taking to the role easily. I would even say how I found "my AT." Then I made my Rad/Rad Defender. Then I made the only character I have ever taken straight to 50 with no breaks; my Warshade. I would even say that Warshades are my AT, and it probably is as close as it can get to being so, but then I could turn around and play a Scrapper. There are no "my AT's", just a bunch of fun characters ready to get played.
  17. Quote:
And a meta question: how many people out there explicitly build for diversity? How many are willing to sacrifice damage or other things to explicitly add something that might only be situationally useful, but you just have to have that utility (for example, no respec of this character is ever going to lack the recall-mutation combination, ever, so long as it exists).
For me, my tri-form Warshade is my most versatile character. It's the one I will usually grab when helping a friend on any new character since I can complement whatever AT they picked. If they're a tank, I blast. If they blast, I tank or control, etc.

Granted, I don't have buffs for the team, and aside from slows in all my attacks, no real debuffs. I always wished Warshades had some debuff power, with Peacebringers getting some buff power. One of the reasons I started loving my WS, though, was that he got all the cool powers from every AT. My first character was a Tank, and I always loved when Blasters would Nova. I was jealous of Controller pets. Now, I have both! Along with controls, damage, and the ability to tank.

As far as the above quote, I have always built my Warshade for versatility. Taking powers I don't use often simply so I could have them when the time arose.

I would say, though, that I could easily see my Fortunata becoming more versatile mainly because it can hold, mass hold, damage, confuse and buff. I love the Epic AT's on both sides!

Anyway, I go both extremes. I have an MA/SR Scrapper built for one thing; run speed. Then I have my Warshade who even has a variety of IO sets in order to get a little bit of goodness all around, as opposed to just focusing on, say, recharge.

  19. MA/SR Scrapper.

Yeah, Confront. My mistake. Although my main tanking days were when the single target version was the Tank version. I remember "having" to get Provoke.

Edit to add: Oh, and there is no problem. Just the first time I had heard the sound and found it amusing. The only sounds in game that I still don't like are the Sonic attack sounds. And I have a lvl 50 Sonic/Fire Blaster.
  20. My first character was a Tank. An Inv/Mace Tank to be precise. Well, my character in beta was a Grav/FF Controller, so maybe that's my first character. Okay then, my first 50 was a Tank. Yes, that'll do.

Anywho, I have played many characters over the years, but it occurs to me that I have only played 2 Tanks, which happen to be the same character. When Willpower was released, I found that it fit my Tank's concept much better, so I rerolled him and got him to 50 once more. Mostly solo, though, so I might have missed it at the time.

"Missed what?", you ask. Taunt. I might have missed the strange, strange change to Taunt.

You see, last night I loaded up my lvl 50 Scrapper to farm Tip missions for some sweet Hero Merits. I was running the "You're a Mean One, Mr. Phelps" mission, and came across a hostage situation that was smack dab in the middle of another spawn. Now, it's been so long since I played this character and he certainly isn't optimized, so I thought I would pull. Twas about to use my Nemesis Staff when I had a sudden memory shoot into my brain from my previous Tank days. "Taunt!" I exclaimed! Looking carefully at my power trays, I found that my Scrapper had indeed taken Taunt. With a wicked grin and an aim to misbehave, I got within range to attract the Arachnos Executioner. Once there, I pressed the Taunt button and...

...threw up, maybe? I'm not sure what happened. I got his attention with my...whatever, so I guess it worked. I was still left confused, however.

I decided to utilize Taunt throughout the next few missions, to see if maybe the smell of Arachnos was causing my character to dry heave. It turns out that all villains, in Paragon and the Rogue Isles, have formed some pact to go commando for months on end, causing a stench to develop that could bring the world to its knees. Is there a tip mission for that? I think that my characters hold their breath as best they can while in missions. It is my own fault that my Scrapper must take a deep breath in order to talk whenever I insist he taunt something. It must be horrible.

Ah, I remember the days when my Tank would let out a frightening, "Huh!?" I suppose this is the new way. No matter how often I used Taunt last night, however, I could never stop laughing and then feeling sad for my poor Scrapper.

  21. My only Incarnate is my namesake tri-form Warshade. Actually wasn't able to get on a Khan team last night, which is too bad, since it's one of the TFs I've never done.

Oh, well. At least I'm already level shifted.
  22. I myself rerolled my first 50, who also happened to be my first character at launch. An Inv/Mace tank. He was supposed to be an immortal, but I went with what I had. When Willpower was released, I had to have it. He is now a lvl 50 WP/Mace Tank.

    Quote:
I just have a problem with their being linked to Arachnos, however, and that makes the idea very unlikely.

As far as HEAT/VEAT, I've never understood the problem of their origins. If you don't like it, ignore it. Neither of my Khelds have anything to do with alien energy races. Maybe your Arachnos Soldier is just in disguise. Maybe he wears it as a warning to Arachnos, like a trophy of sorts. Maybe he was built with whatever parts his creator could find lying around, and in the Rogue Isles, that meant a good amount of Arachnos suit parts. Maybe he has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Arachnos. It's up to you.

I think my Dual Guns Corruptor looks sweet with the guns at his side while he runs. As does my Dual Blades Scrapper. I actually wish there was a way for my weapon characters to keep them out so I wouldn't have to keep pressing an attack button. Not a big deal with melee characters, but my ranged characters have a way of shooting whatever gets automatically targeted sometimes.

My Fire/Dark Corrupter, a grungy pirate captain, looks like a dork. As do any of my non-weapon characters, save maybe my MA/SR Speedster Scrapper. If there was an alternative animation that was more neutral, a couple of my characters would ditch their current travel powers.

I had stopped bothering posting because of the futility of arguing over a movie with someone who has not seen it, yet created their own ideas and points about it. It was all so...strange.

What you're pointing out is precisely why I just shrugged and went to eat a snack. Why is Dur so sure that Kevin ditched Sam in The Grid? What makes him think Kevin even brought Sam to The Grid in the first place? Why would Sam's disc be the same as Kevin's? That doesn't even make sense, given what the discs actually are. Unless Sam and his dad worked side-by-side on all of the projects involving The Grid (SPOILER ALERT!: he didn't).

Just to bring this thread back around, I liked Tron. Enough to be tempted to see it again with my fiance. So, to re-ask a question, is the 3D version any good? If I'm to see it again, I may as well get the full effect. I get free movie passes and only have to pay a few extra dollars for 3D, so it's not a big hit for me to see it that way.

If the 3D is like most of the movies I've seen and you forget it's even in 3D about 5 minutes in, then that's pointless. However, there are a lot of large, open scenes in Tron, which to me is where 3D can really shine. I've heard mixed results, just hoping for more opinions on the 3D.
