Quote:Disregarding clipping issues, is it possible to take a snapshot of a characters costume, then play a costume change-esque animation, swapping the character model out for a larger version of itself that's wearing the same costume? There's a difference between setting the scale of an entity and changing the scale of an entity...much less doing that via the powers system.
I can make a 400 foot tall fire imp in about 10 seconds by changing a couple of values in a script. But I can't do that via a power, I can't make the imp actually grow to be 400 foot, there's nothing to prevent me from doing that in an office map or while standing under an overpass, and there's nothing to fix the dozens of different problems that come from having a giant anything in the game...much less a giant something that's player controlled. -

The reason the valentines offer so was unpopular was due to the fact it was a limited time offer - if they just tacked items on to the currently existing system, then that would be fine imho.

Quote:Backpacks & Jetpacks would not require the skeleton being altered whatsoever. Scabbards probably wouldn't either, depending on where they actually get put.Assuming we get them, I'd expect that to be for general release not a booster pack. That would require a change to the character skeletons, which would apply to everyone in the game; not some costume pieces that only some get.
We actually did have nice clumps of fur for our characters as shoulder and chest details in the CoV beta. No idea why they were removed. -

Quote:All I know is that it works for me at the moment on a GTS 250:Was the nvidia driver ever fixed so you didn't have to run in single monitor acceleration mode when hooked up to multiple monitors?
Click for a bigger version.
The black space at the bottom right is due to the right hand screen being smaller. -
Purely a business decision, GW is not a subscription game, so sustaining the entire studio on it for much longer wouldn't be feasible. They need to sell more boxes, and a brand new game will sell more copies, and can sell for more, than an expansion box would in most cases.

Thanks for the help guys
And as for Eyefinity: Run the game in windowed mode and you can drag the window across as many screens as you want, nothing extra required. -
Fine then:
Cross-Platform: Please explain how you would play CoH on 360 pad or a Sixaxis.
Underwater zones: They just wouldn't work mechanically, let alone story wise, and would be a PITA for the animations needed. That's ignoring the whole point of the game: Fun. Would it be fun? Probably not. Lemuria in CO was terrible.
Home spaces: Would the entertainment value warrant the extra development time and hosting costs? Doubt it.
Visual enhancements: Incoming already.
Whips: Incoming already.
Crossbows: I guess this would be suited best to as an alternate set of animations for Archery, but again, would this be worth the extra development time? Probably not, considering that the majority of a new set could be created with those resources.
Your theory is still insane, though. -
Quote:/winDatamining showed that the Kneel emote was overpowered for Regen in PvP, so we removed it from everyone in PvE. Eventually, we'll remove it from PvP as well, but only on the villain side. Right now, it's nerfing accuracy for villains, so we kind of need it.
-
I'm sorry, are you insane, or do you just have absolutely no idea how a game (or more specifically, an MMO) is developed?
-
I like both ideas, but I'd like to see defenders get a decent inherent first. Perhaps a Poower Boost like Domination button or Fury bar.

Quote:It's possible for a power to spawn something on top of a target (see: Lord Winter's giant snowball for an example), but to do that and then trigger an attack? That might be stretching it.Im not sure if this has been suggested in the past but for Combat Teleport how about something where you target a mob, activate the power and then you quickly teleport to that target with a minimum of activation animation, maybe just a short version of the tense up animation used by the embalmed cadavers coupled with a bright flash, and deliver an uppercut for moderate damage? Im not 100% sure if the code can handle this but it would definitely add some flavor to combat.

Quote:Waiting 'till April is a bit too long to be honest Swapping to an ATI card isn't an option really as I'm a huge fan of 3d vision. That depends on how much money you have and how much you value your sanity and hearing. In operation, reviewers describe the sound coming from dual-chip boards as "uncomfortable". If you've got the money to watercool the board or are someone who never plays without headphones on, that could be different.
Thing is though, ATI is now the official graphics partner for Paragon Studios, rather than Nvidia. The only hesitance I have in recommending someone go with an ATI board is that we don't yet have confirmation that the regular graphics engine (the standard one, not the Ultra Mode) will have the ATI-bugs in it fixed with GR.
If those remain in the regular version, you have the possibility of someone "upgrading" to an ATI board on a budget and chancing to put themselves just below what they personally consider playable for Ultra Mode and stuck with ATI graphical oddities in regular mode.
If you have the money to spend on a GTX 295 you're shopping for something in the class well above that grey area. I'd go with a Radeon HD 5850 or 5870, depending on your preference.
As to waiting, the most reliable estimates I've seen of Fermi/G300 hitting actual market shelves is April/May of 2010. Assuming Fermi turns out to be a competent offering, then ATI boards might drop a bit in price. I don't see a reason for them to do so any earlier than that.
Is the GTX 285 2048mb a double chip board too? If not I'll go for that one - The noise of my current machine is one of my main reasons for upgrading.
Thanks -
<noob>
So, is it worth me buying a new PC with a GTX 295 or waiting for the 300s? I'd really like one sooner rather than later, but if I can get something better for a similar (or lower) price when they come out, I may just wait.
Also - Does anyone know how well CoH runs on 64bit Windows 7? I'm considering moving to 64bit, or possibly dual booting between 64bit for some games and 32bit for general use.

Actually, as demonstrated by Walk, powers can alter your movement caps - it changes your run speed cap (as in, it shows up as blue not green/red/white in the real numbers window) to something like 5mph, and nothing at all can alter it.
And slightly more on topic: I was actually doing something similar to this, and here's what I had so far (there's some surprising similarities):
Quote:Requires 3 power picks in the pool, level 30
Teleport - Teleport to Teammate
Click: Teleport to target teammate
Range: 10,000ft
Cast: 10sec
Recharge: 120sec
Cost: 25end
Flight - Sonic Boom
Timed Toggle: +100% Fly speed (Over cap - as fast as the game can handle), -Friction, requires you to be flying at 40mph+ before activation is possible
Cast: Instant
Duration: 30sec max
Recharge: 60sec
Cost: 5end/sec
Speed - Airwalk (may not be feasable)
Timed Toggle: +flight (flat speed as fast as capped SS), -70% ascent speed, -air control, loss of momentum will result in the power deactivating
Cast: Instant
Duration: 10sec max
Recharge: 60sec
Cost: 2.5end/sec
Leaping - Springfoot
Click: +200% ascent speed, +100% jump speed (Over cap - as fast as the game can handle), +200% jump height (Over cap)
Cast: Instant
Duration: 10sec
Recharge: 30sec
Cost: 15end
Leadership - Rally
Timed Toggle: Self anchored Teammate AoE +100% Rech, +50% Recovery, Res (effects, -speed, -rech, -end), self immobilize, Grants a variation of 'Shield Wall' to all teammates in the area of effect
Cast: 2s
Duration: 10sec max
Recharge: 120sec
Cost: 1end/sec
Range: 7ft
Fitness - Rejuvination
Auto (Out of combat only): +50% recovery, +100% recharge, +250% regen
And 4 ideas not fully fleshed out:
Concealment
Cloaking Feild (Toggle: AoE teammate stealth/invisibility, high end cost, large speed debuff to self)
Medicine
Adrenaline Shot (Click: Ally +20% Rech, +20% Recovery, +35% Regen, +20% movement speed, +50% res (slow, end drain, rech)), High recharge (scales depending on AT)
Fighting
Agile (Toggle: +Res 75% (effects)) OR (Click: +res 100% (effects)) (scales depending on AT)
Presence
Pacify (Click: AoE Placate) (scales depending on AT) -
I rarely use a 4th tray, and if I do, it's always hotswapped with one of the others using macro buttons.
But /popmenu FTW! -
Sorry, am I missing something or do teh americans get it for free?

I've been wanting to improve my Photoshop skills, and I thought this would be a fun project to do. Anyway, what I've been doing is grabbing screenshots from Vangelus' video from Hero Con, touching them up in Photoshop (and removing the tops of people's heads
), and stitching them together with Microsoft's Photosynth, allowing you to move around the scene as you wish.
This is what I have so far, it's only the first 5 images but it's still fun to play around with, but expect more soon. I think it requires Silverlight to view, but I'm not entirely sure. -
Quote:Are you sure? I've done this before with cheap box copies...does not work that way
atfer you do the trail, enter architect code, YOU sure must pay for the 2nd month, before your refer account gets the credit
their not That dumb on giving free months away'
however i myself have the good vs evil game, so i just buyed architect
Architect Edition today
and sense the monthly fee is higher then 10 bucks,
30 free days that come with it just paid for it self!
you get 1 month for 10 bucks and THE 10 dollar booster pack, am going to pack magic
anyone that does not have the architect game already on their account and plans to play this game longer then their current paid time
would be crazy to pass this deal up,
the fact its cheaper then 1 month fee makes it a great deal by it self
the free 10 buck booster pack of magic, makes it a steal!
about 16 hours left, Buy it while you have time people!
they may as will be giving away the booster pack for buying a month worth of game time with this game
EDIT: It seems you are right. -
*cough* creating trials with referral codes and applying the Architect codes to get a free month *cough*
