Yeah, I've heard the rah-rah before, "Well, *I* always invite whoever's around and even take special pity on the smelly losers." Thanks, the condescension feels so good. That's why these days if my character can't solo on x8 AND offer support to a team, then it's not worth my time to improve. Bye-bye fun concept builds!

From a practical game-design standpoint, I don't understand how the devs plan to develop new content with the competence spread of level-50 character builds increasing tremendously. Without going into specifics, we all know that even with SOs, some builds were hugely more effective than others. IOs exaggerated this difference between the most and least effective, and now Incarnate powers will do so again.

Will non-IOed, non-Incarnates be able to find a team at all soon? How many threads will there be to the effect that, "LOL, somebody actually expected to get an invite to the WTF, and he didn't even have a rare in his Justice slot?"

Then there's the question of what happens when somebody spends 9000 hours upgrading one character, and that power set then gets nerfed, or simply isn't needed for the Omega Task Force that all the cool kids are doing...

Side note on Trapdoor: I've solo'd him w/ 2 blasters, a Fire/Fire and a AR/Dev. Main Trick 1 is to whack his clones when he bifurcates, quick as you can. 2nd thing is to knock him into the lava, at which point he's pretty easy.

I'm not going to offer an exact survivor count they "should have used" because the "facts" in this case are pretty vague and speculative. But I will strongly suggest that given everything that is generally known about the background of Star Trek and the assumptions made about Vulcans and interstellar travel that the idea there would ONLY be around 10,000 off-world Vulcan survivors is a grossly low number for all sorts of reasons. Should that number have been more reasonably 250 thousand, a million, tens of millions? Who knows. But only 10,000? No, that just seems way too low all things considered.

It's quite likely Abrams picked the nearly improbable low number he used more for the dramatic effect to drive home the tragedy of Vulcan's destruction. Let's face it saying that there's only 10,000 left sounds a lot more dire than using a more "realistic" value like 5 million. Basically (once again for Abrams and crew) logic and rationality gave way to serving the silly meanderings of his ill-informed imagination.
