  1. I dont mean to sound completely stupid, but what? I have never had a character with more than one costume before. I just made a second costume _just_ for this costume change....
  2. You have to go to the tailor to do this asignment of power changing thing right?
  3. I just blew 3 emps on this new costume change power, energysomesome. How the heck do I use it? I already claimed it, created a new costume, and added the sucky elec trail aura.
  4. Do hasten on auto and click dom... I have 2 or 3 dom stacked at a time, and I am mostly sure I have less rech than you. I think. Maybe?
  5. Yeah, about that elec single target hold? I dont use it. Ever. It is a waste of an attack that can be better used to do something else more useful.

I must admit immediately, I am IOd out to the gills and back. I also play a very upfront and melee sort of game. However, I just _do not use_ that hold. Since everything else going on around me is either deflecting damage, causing damage, or nuking end, I just attack with what makes that even better. My attack chain is, at +2/8, this:

drain psy, chain fences, sleet, chain fences, ice storm, chain fences, psywave, chain fences, mindprobe, chain fences, tk thrust.

You will note immediately something very common in my attack thread.... I have the rare damage causing interface, which generates insane damage from fences given the recharge it has and number of targets it affects. When others would use holds on bosses, I would just dish out high damage single target attacks. I use my rare ion only on random occasions when I remember I have it or am bored.

The confuse is mighty strong power, but unfortunately, does not work fast enough to make a notable difference in survival, even when slotted with contagious confusion. Best bet is to walk in, zot something with some flavor of pbaoe, wait a second, and start laying down chaos. In elec/elec, you might want to pop confuse with CC (if you have it slotted) immediately after your first chain fences. That deflects the rest of the fights damage and allows you to mind-numbingly kill the spawn off.

For those that are not elec/psy, please note that you can replace drain psy with something more stunningish, and fill in the attacks later with something from your secondary.

But for sure, don't lead off with fences!!

edit: I hardly use my aoe hold, never use the sleep patch, never use the single target hold, and barely use the confuse. The confuse comes out when the mobs are just too hard to handle, and thats about it. I also _never_ use the gremlins. Or even my stupid lore pets. But at least the lore pets come out during trials, or during the last fight of a TF. Same cant be said of the gremlins.

Hell. Other than the aura and fences, I dont think I really use anything from the primary anymore...
  6. I will run a BAF every night starting next week, mon-fri, 7pm EST, assuming I am home. These will be speed-bafs. It gives you 1 emp a night, so better than nothing. Ill be running with 84, so at least I wont be bringing dead weight. I will spawn it as an open trial so everyone gets warmth, and _will_ spawn it once we hit min requirements. I absolutely will not hold off to max the trial.
  7. Chain fences is BLEH. Until you slot it with interface.... And then it becomes massive win. If you think ahead, it is a fantastic power. However, it is mostly good only if you have a lot of AOE without knockback. If you can dish AOE, go for chains/interface combo. If not, go for the /elec attack.
  8. Unquestionably, you should go Ice. Unless you just really like mace.

    My elec psi uses:

    dp/fences/sleet/fences/storm/psiwave

rinse and repeat. I have an ungodly recharge, but the attack chain flattens mobs of +2/8 in 2-3 seconds, no bosses. Bosses you can just poke with probe/tk to finish them off. The chain has a mix of damage, so resistance doesnt really come into play. I need to point out, I have pyronic? interface at rare, so I do hefty damage with each application of fences. Without interface, it just does 15 damage. With interface, it does 63 damage, and recharges in less than 2 seconds with a near instantaneous reapplication.

Without the ice app, I would definitely not be smashing as much.... Sleet/storm just stack extremely well with psiwave.
  9. I have found something interesting out....

If you have massive rech, enough for permadom/permahasten, you can make a single power attack chain out of chain fences w/ pyronic? interface. I currently farm _with just that one power_. It is boring as hell, but I kill spawns of +2s in no time flat. When you mix in another power, you can flatten spawns in two to three seconds, excluding bosses.

Lame tho it may seem, slotted with interface chain fences is stupidly useful.
  10. I'm off to Japan this coming Tuesday, but will be back 2 weeks after that. I will be running Keyes and speed BAF runs each night for 2 weeks (hopefully) when I get back, so people can get what they need for powers and merits. Anyone interested please sign here. Keep in mind I wont be here for 2 weeks after Tuesday, but am planning to do this as soon as I get back.
  11. My last computer was 400$ from microcenter. quad core w/ 8gigs of ram, windows, stuff.

I imagine I'll be okay in the long run. I just made this thread to ask about if anyone with either experience of such powersets would be able to give me recommendations for my build, aswell as advice on what to choose or not choose movewise and maybe how to slot it in order to create a solid toon. Thanks in advance.
If you are going to actually _play_ your way up, and not cheese, you will find that CA can generate a lot of agro you don't want early on, and that Static Field just doesnt recharge fast enough till after SOs. Personal opinion is to go for TK and Probe for attacks and fill in with anything else you can that does moderate + damage. You wont start feeling notably powerful at anyone given point, but certainly find that you can manage small groups of enemies. It has a slow and steady sort of feel to it, but the nice thing is that you _always_ feel like you are making progress. It isn't a situation where one day you suck, and the next you are super just because of 1 power. For sure, elec/psi is about the amalgamation of your powers.

Admittedly, you will find that if you have $$ and invest heavily as you go, as soon as you pick up //ice (if you are going this route), you become pretty instantly awesome.

Probably not necessary in a build with softcapped defenses, but it's pretty awesome on my build that has no defense.
Yeah, I can see it being valuable in a build without defenses, but in this case he has slotted significantly (and at cost....) to build for s/l def. For cheaper IOs, and endmod set IOs, you can get ~850% regen, and a LOT of -recov; sufficient enough to easily drain AVs and keep them there. In fights where the AV uses end costly attacks, its possible to ensure they never come out on an elec/psi, due to lack of end. Further, with high s/l def, its possible to wade into Incarnate level content, drop the bomb, sap them in one or two pulses of CA, and kill what you want, when you want, as the +2-4s try to brawl you to death. Plus, to be honest, I dont see how an extra 200% regen will help much, when if you go with rebirth you get that out of the gate, + a heal, + stupid hp/s. I get somewhere in the range of 40 hp/s when I pop rebirth plus a heal that garuntees I won't drop anytime soon.

If he takes hoarfrost instead of those damn gremlins, he could have 2 heals, 1 massive regen, and 1 massive -recov, making it more than feasible to attempt to solo s/l based AVs. If the courage is there.
All around, especially with the advent of rebirth, i just don't see the advantage of this type of slotting of DP, given you get bonuses from spiritual as well.

I don't use Spear and Hurl 'cause both of them are just too darn slow for me.

I didn't take Mud Pots because the last thing I need is waking all the sleepy foes when I go in.
Wait, what? Doms do fantastic in melee! In fact, they are best _in_ melee (check their melee mod). Hurl is just a waste of a power, and I am unfamiliar with Spears, but with the rest you can smash things pretty badly. What you lack in AOE from your secondary you get from your primary. Slot heavily for melee or s/l defense and just sit in melee range.
  15. This is very little different from my elec/psi/ice.

Word of warning... I just don't see the value in the gremlins. I never used them low level, and high level they are utterly useless. I am so stupidly powerful that I just dont need the runts. I would love to respec out of the grems and pick up vengeance... I don't think I have enough rech for perma vengeance, but I could probably make it.

I am curious, why go with the ribosomes in tough?

edit: I went ion rare, rebirth rare, burny burny interface rare, and clockwork rare. The heals from the clockwork, heals from the rebirth, extra damage from interface, and ion glory make a huge difference. Without them, I do pretty well against anything thats NOT energy (which just eats me alive at +4).

I also slotted DP differently, because with Spiritual, you will overcap regen. Put in some other end reducer or somesome to get extra glory.

  17. I have no picture. For you see me all around. There is no place where I do not walk. They gave me a name, a simple name. It was part joke, part forebearance. They called me 1984. When I woke to the world with my new name, I was set apart from my comrades in arms. I was granted with that thing you call "a history". It was pulled from a Primal called "Hewmaster".

It was most amusing, to have all of this creatures knowledge granted unto its digital circuitry. All of that creatures friends, foes, accomplishments, they were all mine now. It was a source of power with which I could build my life out of.

The task bequeathed to me was simple; prepare the Primals for the coming of Cole. There was nothing complicated. All that needed to be done was to speak the truth. The chaotic memories of the Primal caught during a raid of the B.A.F told me everything that was needed. There was no order in this universe. There was no understanding of consequence, or of crime or punishment. The idea of a simple peace was alien. All of these Primals struggled _every day_ just to eat and drink. Freedom was the shackles with which they bound themselves. For me, this would be easy.

As I walk amongst the worlds denizens, speaking with a tongue stolen from one of their own, I reach out my subtle influence. A little here, a little there, seeking always to be felt not seen. My circle of influence grows daily. Soon, soon, these stolen memories of mine will lead to a peaceful, and orderly period where the calm that Praetorian society is will wash over the Primal Earth...

But never, ever, do they question my oh so obvious mission. It is even written in my name, taken from their own society. Thus is the will of Cole. "Act not where acting can be done for you."
  18. I thought about eatin oranges, but found with my dom its just better to eat 2 or 3, or even as many as 4 purples and sit pretty for 90 seconds. Altho... I might farm BAF (per my baf thread) for _super_ inspirations. Those suckers last for 3 minutes.

The new content is a good point, it's certainly a lot more dangerous. I'm not sure "moar defense" is the right answer though. I've got several defense-capped toons that I've run through the trials and they still die quite a bit. There's a lot of stuff that rarely misses (BAF turrets, I'm looking at you) and there's so many AoE DoTs flying around that you're almost always taking some kind of damage...which means a single lucky big shot will kill you despite the one-shot code. Resistance may be a better option, I dunno.
  19. Bob;
I dunno man. I have 49% s/l def, and for the new content, its not sufficient. Plus there is all this other type of def. In any case, there is a bind in the kheldian forum for turning insp into other insp. I'd recommend grabbing it and setting it up for greens and purples if you want to go 32.5.

I'll take a look at the build later today with that in mind and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the feedback!

Purples for an Elec/ dom are absurdly cheap. Depending on what you do, you can kit out a dom with an insane amount of cool for under 300mil. I absolutely recommend going for as much rech as you possibly can with an elec/ dom. If you were an elec/psi, I would say push your recharge at least until you have perma drain psyche.
  21. An elec/ dom is best built by playing an elec/ dom. Pregening one up is a bad way to go. Asking what powers you might use is better, but having other people build one for you is just no good. You need to learn how to use your powers, because elec is very different from other dom builds. If it ends up bad, you can always respec. But building what someone else makes you might be a waste of time, because once you get there, you find it doesn't fit your play style.

Coming here to have someone build you a char is always my absolute last resort. Asking for slotting help is a different story.

You have found out your dom eats end like candy right now. Yep! Play it slow, bring lots of blues, and start off with 0/1 or so. You can generate your own end, but learn your powers to figure out how to do it. Be aware that elec/ is mostly a melee based char. Get in their faces and stay there. You can't rely on static field as your only control early on. It just doesn't recharge fast enough. Either team up a lot, or get used to playing with things like your chain knockdown. Mostly, I recommend teaming. I teamed all the way through 25, before I really came into my own. Now I can do pretty brutal things solo. Elec, once you have learned how it works, can be bent to run any way you want.
  22. I crash maybe once every two weeks. Have you checked to see if your videocard is overheating?
  23. Not i20. i19.5. During the alpha run, massive quantities of TFs were being run. This generated massive numbers of merits. This killed 20mil a pop each time someone ran the WTF and converted it into a more valuable AMerit. That AMerit killed multiple millions a shot on rare salvage for creation, trading fees, selling fees, creation fees. The TF and WTF certainly didn't provide enough inf to pay these costs. They were coming straight out of pocket. i20 should have had something more i19.5 to it to burn inf. The big stick just isn't palatable compared to burning money through AMerits.

Health meters you say? What are those??

GP: Just convert Astrals from BAF to threads to ixp. It can cost you a little inf, but youll unlock and start sloting pretty damn quickly. Not converting threads is what will slow you down. I have 4 rares, and almost a vrare something. Better than nothing, and I did it over the course of 4 days running nothing but BAF for the most part.
