ACK that is disturbing. I don't think men who look like that are any better looking either.
-
I only got 3 catalysts. But I got a friggin ton of merits, and a ton of atos. I got multiple pros worth hundreds of mils, so I am happy there. For 48 packs I think I made out OK. Got to convert all the merits to stuff I need for IOs. The merits are really really _really_ useful.

Quote:81%? Holy crap. Does dark/ or /dark have anything equally spammable?I'd put it in the fastest recharging mez power, such as any of the ST Holds or similar. On my Mind/Psi, perma-dom I put it in Mesmerise (which has a 2 second recharge), then I spammed it and saw my damage increased by 81% (18% from set bonuses then three stacks of 21% from the Superior proc). It's also very easy to keep up. I'm pretty sure it works on cast rather than on hit, so putting it in an AoE doesn't make it any better than putting it in a ST attack.
-
Probably not. AA only procs every few seconds, and you can spam a power faster than it procs. Altho for a low level constant boost, it may not be so bad.

I would consider going, as I live only 15 minutes away. However, I don't know any of you guys! I was kind of hoping at least one person I know would be on the list..... I will think it over.

Ok, I am going to go against a lot of commentary in here, and for good reason.
You do not need Mids. In fact, you might even find it more distracting than useful.
Feel out the weaknesses of the char _by actually playing it_. Since you have ample experience with your chars without using Mids, you are actually in a good position for this.
Build for what you are weak at.
If you don't have any particular weakness, build for excess strength, or to do something novel.
If you don't want to spend a lot, and have a solid, functional char as is, _Frankenslot_!!!
Frankenslotting means taking a mixture of different inventions to max out bonuses. Think of it as simple addition. What can you add together to get the most number of "SO" level bonuses out of your slots.
Examples of frankenslotting are like slotting 2 different invention sets, with 3 dual, 2 trip and a quad. The total bonus to the power will far exceed 6 SOs.
You can buy ANYTHING with alignment merits. They are easy to get and versatile. And everything costs 1 or 2 merits tops, unless you want to buy weird stuff.
A good example of frankenslotting is 3 eradications and 3 cleavings in a pbaoe. This gives you ~4+ ranged def and ~4+ negative/energy def. For 6 slots, thats a lot of SO level bonuses and a lot of bonus defense. But you don't have to even slot for defense. You could go for other things.
Take your time and browse the market when you have time available. Look through everything and write down what looks good. Even if you don't have some sort of twinked out char, at least you will have one _you_ understand. That helps when building your next char.
Last but not least, it is VERY possible to build awesome under 50mil. Don't feel like you have to dump big bucks into it to make your char fun. -
Quote:Probe/TK/psiwave/chains/judgement/sleet/storm here. More than enough awesome. Who the hell needs range when you can sit in the middle of damn near anything? This.
Also with nearly perma capped recovery, sleet and storm etc can be single Target attacks too
I don't play from range, so that is not something I worry about.
Throwing a baddie across the entire map with tkt is so awesome that I dont mind chasing him down to punch his flopping body one more time. -
Ok. So I made a dark/dark blaster. I thought it would be awesome fun. Really, it seems kind of lackluster, and the amount of ranged damage I can lay down at distance seems rather limited. So I checked out dark/dark on Beta at the insistent demanding of my friend, and well, it just plays so much nicer. And I have a plethora of long distance attacks with 60-80ft ranges to boot. For each one slotted with posi, I can shove in a hamio range, and push it over 80ft. That's pretty fantastic range! Opening with a wide (huge once range boosted) cone of fear, laying down nightfall, and whatever else that looks good, it seems to be a blast.
And on top of that, dang near everything in dark/dark gets bonus points from being in domination!
I can't help but think that this is a win/win combo for doms, as long as you don't mind DoT. -
-
This doesn't look too bad. I do not understand why people do not slot +heal in CA though. Even if it is small, it stacks with heal, and if you are running 8 man mishs (with an elec/psi, you really should be), you have a very impressive bonus to heal, especially if you take spiritual alpha with its heal bonus. Putting +end proc in CA is _useless_ if you are running permadom. I mean, hello? Permadom? Perma end-refill? It does not make much sense to spend the amerits/money on it when you are constantly refilling your end from dom.
Also, I 6slotted some immob in both of the immobs for tons of bonus s/l def. I don't recall what set though. At 50+, use of reactive and spamming the snot out of chain fences generates huge quantities of bonus tick damage on everything around you. Plus, fences is location agnostic, and seems to hit everything around you no matter where you click.
I do have to say tho, this is a pretty good build.
No matter what you decide, you should find elec/psi to be stupidly fun. With some extra targets around you, its possible to solo AVs with it, largely due to DP.

Quote:I never went with geddon, as it simply was too expensive and gave me none of the set bonuses I wanted. And I _really_ wanted to 4slot erad for the bonus hp, but I simply couldnt. In shroud, I had to frakenslot with two purps.... geddon proc and dam/end... 2 erads + erad proc and oblit proc. It got me the same end reduction give or take a few .02ish eps as when I had 2 IO endreduc, oblit proc, 2 erads, erad proc.I don't know how you get good end reduction slotting out of the set's expensive but crucial aoes while still using the best available sets, which are obliteration and eradication, plus armageddon at 50. Those first two barely reduce endurance cost at all and must be supplemented with scirocco's dervish or multi-strike for that, except that if you're using oblits you're six slotting them and if you're using erads you're probably four slotting them. Not a heck of a lot of room for improvement, wouldn't you agree? What you could do is slot four erads and a generic endurance but that isn't really how I tend to do things, personally. Armageddon is pretty decent for endurance, but I didn't find the space for it in my reckless pursuit of defense bonuses.
My attacks are slotted with oblits everywhere, _boosted_, which may make a difference when comparing builds. Same goes for my mako's bites I have slotted, all of which are boosted where appropriate. Defsweep is omg frankenslotted with hamios, lotgs, and erads.
I do not run either CoF nor OG, so there is no end consumption there, and I do not run hasten. Between the natural +rech and the 5 lotg +rech, the build runs a constant stream of attacks without need. I am not chasing max dps like some tw players, simply because max dps for me is the dps needed to kill _that guy_.
I think the fact that damn near everything I have is boosted might have something to do with it. I spent well over 90 boosters on this one char alone, so.... -
Quote:Ouch. What level are you? With FA and resilience, you can boost the **** out of your resist, and with softcap range and 30-35% melee, that caps your melee def. You will need ~5% def from I dunno where to softcap range, or you can just really slot for range and suffer with 25-30% melee, which will just barely softcap your melee range with defsweep.I find I'm struggling with my TW/FA brute. I can barely even handle +0/x2 missions currently... I hope it gets better when IO'ed out, but currently either I suck a lot at this combination, or it doesn't work very well for my playstyle.
Sadly, I'm thinking it's the former...
However, as FA, you have pretty decent resists to various things, and resilience should boost that largely, giving you a lot of functionality.
I really think its probably lack of IOs, and maybe a question of how you are slotting. A brute ATO set would REALLY help offset your lack of a defensive aura, and make up for that 5% you can't pick up elsewhere. -
They are big huge pink/red balls of lightning that fload around slightly above your waistline and pulse lightning, floating after whoever they want to do ranged damage to. They are ranged damage only from what Ive seen in my use of them. But when they are out, its pretty chaotic, so they MIGHT have a melee attack.

Quote:This. The badge is not just a badge. Its a content gate of a very large nature, keeping you out of lots of mid-high level content, and a fun mid-high level task/strike force. Given that the area is _coop_, this kind of restriction should not exist. Not being able to get vanguard merits doesn't keep you out of any zones.
Not having Dimensional Warder doesn't keep you out of any zones.
Not having this badge does. I hated key quest lines to unlock raid access for each and every character in that other game.
"Hey wanna do an ITF?" "Sure, this guy hasn't done one yet. Sonofa... Nevermind, have to go save Percy, again, have fun storming the castle."
Any time coop play exists, it should be encouraged, not discouraged. -
Grey pants that match the grey of her top, so red/grey theme everywhere. But only if the bottom matches the same gauzy sort of grey the top is.
And, I like the midline suspenders. They are cute and totally early 20s hipster. Overall I approve of new Penny 95%. -
Can you retint storm elementals? If so, you could go either mu red or elec blue, depending on how you are already tinted. By default they are already kind of mu red though.
-
Quote:I categorically disagree with this. I know many regen/wp/elec tw builds which do not rely on that full suite of IO based +end, which function just fine. I myself have one of the most end heavy builds possible, tw/da, and I can get by just fine without physperf and its extra perfshift. My question to you would be, is the only thing you slotted in stam the shifter? Because if so, you are ignoring one of the largest bonuses to end; simply slotting io endmods into stam itself. Or even just SOs.To get back to my initial post, my point was that if you have to have two performance shifters, the numina unique, the miracle unique, stamina, quick recovery and physical perfection, that doesn't really count as making endurance management trivial. That is a gigantic investment. That is essentially what TW requires, but fortunately that is a hurdle that is very leapable.
For instance, I skipped the two performance shifters and my build is not sustainable. That's the difference. Ain't exactly low end, is it? -
So I found out that Soul Mastery for blasters gives tentacles (yay!), and nightfall (double yay!). So I decided to go with that, for twice the hentai mayhem.
However, aside from souldrain/consumption, maybe touch of fear, dark pit, and midnight grasp. I could see myself darkpitting an alpha, range-holding the boss, tentacles tentacles umbral nightfall as an attack chain, of getting in close, dark pit, fear boss, drain, nuke, eat a blue, consumption.
Is this reasonable? -
Quote:I fully agree. We should be able to boost HOs.It may be a vain hope, but I would love to see them do something with HOs to return them to some of that glory. They aren't very shiny any more compared to IOs, though they still have uses. They would be in great demand as slot savers if they had their old 50% values, even just for Schedule A enhancement. (I'm guessing Schedule B bits of HOs would end up around 33%, not 50% like they used to be in the old days, but that wouldn't suck, allowing the kind of slotting some of the more mundane exploits of Enzymes allowed, but using Cytos.)
-
If you get a single hit off, with my slotting, it negates the cost of the power. I have found it makes the power end cost neutral.
-
Hmmm. If you slot for ranged and downslot melee, the value of s/l slotting diminishes. Right now, the s/l only covers ranged/aoe s/l damage. I would recommend running lower melee defense, drop slotting for s/l entirely, and go for ranged softcap. The rationale is that e/n and psi damage are largely ranged, which you have a gaping defence hole for. Using defsweep to softcap melee and having a generic softcap on range allows you to manage incoming ranged n/e damage from bots, esp warworks, and psi from seers. The reason you want to max your chances of defending against those attacks is that both warworks and seers have def-debuffing powers, and any that hit will make it even easier for you to get hit. Example of this would be warwork pulse rifle. Plus, maxing out your melee softcap w/o def sweep begets the purpose of having it in the first place. You can run a flat 30% melee def and still softcap with a single successful hit. Wether you opt to build for aoe defence as well is a different story. If you want, I can post my build (the hard way) so you can get an idea what I managed to pull together. It is by far the most survivable char I have ever had, and totally trashes my FA tank for all around durability.
edit: My build might be considered pricey, and I blew 90 enh boosters on it to get where I did.... just so I could run level 30 content at max enh bonus, and level 50 content at unboosted enh values.
Quote:My def numbers w/ glad proc are:
s/l - 45.4%
e/n - 27.3%
f/c - 23.5%
psi - 22.3%
Melee - 44.1%
Ranged - 26.6%
AoE - 24.8%
This is for both builds btw. So add the 13% i get from Defensive Sweep and it only really helps me in incarnate trials.
Take out the glad proc and I'm still in pretty decent shape (42.4% s/l and 41.1% melee) -
So I have a dark/dark blaster. I thought /dark was more like defender/cor dark/dark, but it really isn't. So, my target is softcap range def, and whatever else. I do not know what I should take from my secondary, and I really don't understand how it works if I am always flying at range out of melee swipe distance... I figure soul drain + nuke is a good combo. And dark pit MAY be useful, I'm not sure. Seems not really, since I can't up the mag. Any input?
-
What are your defence numbers looking like? I don't have mids so I cant tell.
Standing still, I have 37% melee 44.78% ranged 24.07% aoe. I took def sweep and slotted it 3 erad 1 membrane 1 lotg def/+rech, 1 something else. I think another erad for the hp bonus. A single swipe of defsweep as an opener puts me at 52% melee. A single small purple does wonders, and mediums help me deal with initial -def alphas. I see you went s/l, so I am curious. I also blew 30 amerits on pvp +defence, so.... that made a big difference in my def I suppose.
Quote:Alright so I've seen a few of these around in game, and was curious to try one so I made a build up for it first and the numbers are looking pretty good in my opinion. However, I'm not sure if I should keep Defensive Sweep or not. Any ideas?
Here's the original build w/ Defensive Sweep.

Note though that I most likely won't have the Glad proc right away, but would like to put it in when I have the chance.

Quote:Are you discounting the end boost from the proc? Because there is that.I am looking at the slotting you suggested and while I do get a benefit in terms of HP and N/E defense, the functionality of the heal is greatly reduced. It ends up costing 150% more which isn't so nice on a build that will be tight on endurance as is and the heal value per mob goes from a little less than half my health to less than a third. So I think I will keep the current slotting at least until I get my incarnate powers, then I think I may switch to the slotting you suggested.
