This is one of those 'wouldn't it be nice if for once...' suggestions. I know it'll never happen, but it's nice to dream.
How about, for one day only, all AV's and GM's conned grey to everyone. So that for one day us regular heroes and villains can feel like the gods we want to be.
And before everyone jumps on this, yes thee would be no xp or badges awarded. It would be fun, but fair.
Imagine the sense of satisfaction after months/years of beating them the hard way, you finally get the chance to KO Statesman with Brawl.
*Retreats back into La La Land* -
Aha! success!. I got it just now. Cheers guys.

I'll give it a few hours. If it's not there by 6pm, I'll send a /petition. Cheers FFM.

I checked my account status at plaync.com to see when my next vet award is due. On the page it says that my 15 month vet award is due on the 7th Nov 08. Well, today is the 7th so I log in expecting to see 'Badge Earned' flash across my screen. Nothing. I try a few more toons out, still nothing.
Whats up with that? I want my wings. -
Meh, since everyone else is doing it, I nominate my character; Knightmare.
-
Oh I do love that revamped /hide.
Not long ago I got an apparently polite tell asking for a team. I replied with my standard "Not right now, sorry". 99% of the time I get a reply thanking me for replying. Not this time. This guy simply flung back "f*** u than n00b".
I think what bothered me the most was the atrocious spelling of the word 'then', I mean c'mon, it's four letters. He was promptly /ignored. -
DM - Midnight grasp to be multi-target. (It's getting more front loaded damage in I13 anyway)
DA - 'Abyssal Armour' 90 seconds of sheer untouchablity, whilst oozing malevolent tendrils of death. -
I take it those were from someone with access to the I13 beta. Funky stuff.
Any idea if those waistcoats can be worn beneath trenchcoats? -
As far as I know you can put them all on at once and the time will accumulate.

Ravenwillow had been quietly listening and observing. She wasn't particularly interested in conversation. She had simply wanted a quiet night with no hassle over her more haemophiliac tendencies. For the most part it had been quiet. Her attempts at hiding both her vampirism and her status as a Night Widow were succeeding. Here however she could openly satisfy her hunger without discrimination. Her affiliation with Arachnos would remain hidden.
She swirled the blood in her glass once more. She put it to her lips then stopped. Her eyes widened for a moment. She felt something, a presence approaching. She knew who it was. Her sire...
The door flung open and a tall figure crossed the threshold. Dressed head to toe in black, his eyes hidden behind a pair of dark glasses the man had jet black hair and Mediterranean features. He took a few steps and almost immediately the rich darkness of his hair and warm caramel complexion seemed to peel off and float away like particles of dust. The colour dissipated, his skin and hair became a ghostly white. Such features belonged to only one. The ancient vampire the Primogen.
A glass of blood flew across the room and straight into the Primogens hand without spilling a drop. He strode towards the bar, slipping his hand inside his jacket, he pulled out a banknote and flung it towards the barman. With a touch of telekinetic guidance it landed right in front of the barman. The Primogen sat down at the bar and kicked back the glass of blood. He slammed the glass on the bartop with a sigh of satisfaction.
"Same again." He said. -
Ravenwillow took a leisurely sip from her glass, taking a moment to savour the flood of warmth that rushed through her.
"All part of the evenings entertainment." she said. -
I'm not sure why, but I'm rather looking forward to the new ski runs in D's
-
"I thought you you weren't allowed to drink on the job?"
Sitting on a stool adjacent to where the drunkard had been standing was Jessica Ravenwillow. A smile played across her lips as she swirled the dark red liquid in her glass. She eyed Sanguine Petal briefly before returning her attention to her drink. -
The Primogen had been telekinetically carving a small statuette from a piece of rock while Romanov addressed Erebus. Using the invisible tendrils of his mind he eroded the rock, creating little plumes of dust that flew off and dissipated. He was carving the likeness of a creature he had once seen in a vision long ago.
"The thing about the Netherworld is that there is no one Netherworld. There are many 'dark' realms, each has been called the Netherworld, Hell, Hades or what you will.
Those that have taken a peek beyond the veil often wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one 'dark' realm and the next. They tend to be pretty similar in their gloom. The energies that seep from them often have similar effects on this world. Some realms aren't as threatening as they may seem, and there are others into which the merest glimpse will kill you.
So what I ask you is are you certain that the realm you have studied for the last nine decades is the same one we are dealing with now?" Said the Primogen, placing the finished statuette on the ground.
"Whilst not a realm fatal to look within, there are creatures that dwell there. I can hear them. I hear their voices beyond the veil. They too feel the weakening of the barrier. And they hunger." -
The Primogen listened to Romanov's words. He could indeed feel a slow swell of power within him. However this appeared to magnify the billions of voices in his mind. He winced slightly as he became accustomed to the increased noise. As Romanov continued the Primogen could also feel that the strange schism he had felt on the Liberty Isles was far more intense here in Romanov's sanctum. The Primogen then realised that it was not that earths minds seemed louder, it was more voices. These voices were different. They were solemn and racked with anguish. He could hear them through the veil between worlds.
The Primogen squatted to sit, telekinetically pulling a chair under himself.
"Another question that must be asked is do you know what must be known? What lies beyond the barrier? There is a real possibility that none of us are ready for what may come through, despite whatever augmentation we may receive." said the Primogen, his voice seemingly coming from nowhere in particular.

As a followup to that, is it for only people who RP in certain circles or for anyone on Union who roleplay, even if it's in an environment other than the standard GG/PD crowd...?

All RPers are welcome to add their characters. It's open to pretty much anyone who RPs. -
The wind whistled gently across the stone, creating soft and subtle melodies. The Primogen had grown quite accustomed to the cave overlooking the village. He had ensconced himself further in. The deeper parts of the cave allowed no light. There he found a little peace and quiet, save for the melodious wind.
He was meditating silently. The billions of minds that assaulted his own could be heard clearly. Each could be disseminated from the din and listened to. However, the Primogen was not listening to the voices. There was something else that resonated within his perception. A shift, a schism. Something had broken. This he felt quite distinctly.
His tranquility was broken when he detected a presence approaching. His blank eyes opened and he rose to his feet. He made his way through the darkness to the mouth of the cave. He peered out and spotted something in the distant sky. It was more than a mile away, but the Primogen could clearly discern the avian form. But this was no ordinary bird. As the creature approached, the Primogen saw that this bird was an undead raven. A smirk crawled across the ancient vampires mouth.
The bird swooped down and perched upon the outstretched arm of the Primogen. He scrutinised the festering creature, watching the maggots fall from its exposed ribs. He peered deep into its empty eyes. The creature had no mind, yet there was something present within it. It spoke to the Primogen, yet made no sound. The words came from elsewhere and the Primogen heard them in his mind. He was being summoned. The ancient vampire silently agreed and was enveloped in a shroud of darkness. The dark mist dissipated, leaving the cave empty and silent, save for the melodies of the wind. -

Okay I've sent personal messages to those players with more suitable characters; Tyger, Powerfist, Synth, Emperor, Fanservice, Stryke, Infinitron, Arctic, Cactus and Stiki. If anyone else wishes to get their villain characters involved with this project let me know.
[/ QUOTE ]
So that's pretty much everyone except me. Hmm. Still, I want in. It wouldn't be difficult to work my character in. -
I tend not to give my characters abilities that cannot be represented in-game somehow. Knightmare is a brute and thus has the SMASH, but since he's Mr. Fear, the various fear attacks from DM/DA represent his fear based nature. In fact, come I13, his 2nd build will be alot more control oriented and will have the Presence pool to boot.

Now, my character is a little bit cheeky in that respect because I have him as the founder of the first bloodline. He is the first vampire, but he is not the ancestor of all vampires, so think I'm ok an that one.
[/ QUOTE ]
You might want to watch that. I created a character ages ago who was meant to be the first of the Nictus, and CERTAIN people tore me a new one over it! *glares* I used pretty much the same as you did; he was the first nictus, but he wasn't the ancestor to all nictus. That didn't stop the righteous though!
[/ QUOTE ]
I know the risks of creating characters like that. That's why as a failsafe, my character projects a deliberate degree of uncertainty about his status in RP, it's treated as myth. That way if people want to take it as BS they can do. If however they are more open to it then yay for me.
Ultimately, claiming that status for my character doesn't impose on anyone else to the best of my knowledge, and as far as I know no-one else has claimed 'first vampire'.
As for your Nictus, I think I can understand why you got flak. Nictus are exclusively CoX canon and as such have a defined history (written or unwritten). Rewriting said history is never a popular decision. -

I use the Bram Stoker's Dracula way to describe the weaknesses and powers of my Vampire Queen. Therefore she can walk in daylight... climb walls... turn into smoke... even command lower creatures.
As of weaknesses to holy stuff... That holds two sides... Fist the vampire has to see it as holy. He/she has to acknowledge the god as being there. In Liz her case the Katholic?Christen god excist as she was of that faith before she died / turned to demon gods. As is the case for Dracula himself. Second... there is a lot of faith that has to be put behind the user of such weapons. If the user is not believing... Him holding up a cross is not going to do much then annoy terribly.
Some are using bloodline and some keep the origin of Anne Ryce. Most of these vampire back grounds / origins can be combined though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've noticed that you do already combine many of these origins under the bloodline idea. Your Council of X consists of various founders of bloodlines.
The bloodline meta-meme is the most efficient way of dealing with vampires. Pretty much any origin can be slotted right in. Be it Stokers vampires, Anne Rice's, even White Wolf's can be accommodated. Player created vampires like mine are probably the easiest to work around. I simply made up my own bloodline, complete with idiosyncratic traits, with my character as its founder.
I suppose the golden rule with vampires is that all vampiric bloodlines emerged independently. This way there is no single progenitor of vampires. Now, my character is a little bit cheeky in that respect because I have him as the founder of the first bloodline. He is the first vampire, but he is not the ancestor of all vampires, so think I'm ok an that one.
Come to think of it, It might be an idea to create a codex of vampiric bloodlines for the Handbook. -
I have two Uber characters. Both with quite grand concepts. The first, the Knightmare is the physical incarnation of fear itself. Now that in itself is uber as my canon on fear is that it's a pan-dimensional, pan-versal entity that connects all consciousness and exists everywhere. Of course even this has its limits. I use 'consciousness' rather than 'life' because not all creatures are capable of fear. Simple organisms like amoeba simply don't have the capacity for even base instincts like fear. That being said 'consciousness' can cover incorporeal beings like spirits or even gods.
The meat and potatoes of the concept is complex but I'll try to keep it brief. There are two aspects to the Knightmare; The Phobos Omniscia, the pan-dimesional fear entity, and the Knightmare itself, the physical incarnation. The Phobos Omniscia exists as instinct and operates as such. The Knightmare itself is simply an incredibly dense concentration of phobic energy. Energy that had to be manifested into physical form in order to exist in the Unionverse. This grants the Knightmare almost limitless knowledge, but certainly not limitless power. I say almost limitless knowledge, because to the Phobos Omniscia/Knightmare existence is like a painting. It usually views this painting from a distance, seeing the whole, but it misses the minute details like texture and brush strokes.
In terms of physical power Knights has exceptional strength and durability, but while the matter that comprises it is technically indestructible, Knights is by no means unbeatable. Physical trauma destabilises its physical form. With enough trauma it would dematerialise. Its signature power is the ability to tap into the part of itself that lies within all consciousness and induce their fear. The limit on this is that Knights requires this fear energy to sustain itself and thus its range isn't far reaching. This varies between individual victims however.
I was going to go into my other uber-esque character but this post has dragged on long enough. In short though, whilst I have an uber concept character, I've nerfed him enough not to be god-mody. -

Regarding D's, I've reasoned that Zero creates an overlapping dimension for each patron as they enter, that allows interaction with other people, but prevents any harmful contact. What this means is that, if two chars shake hands, they shake hands. But if one tries to stab another, the attack passes right through the victim's body without effect. For me, the interwoven dimensions created take all Zero's concentration, or a significant portion of it, which is why he never comes down from floating over his speaker.
I've no idea what the general roleplaying community thinks of this, but the few people I've given my theory to have taken it as a feasible explanation and have accepted it. Out of curiosity, what do the rest of you think?
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually quite like that idea. It ties in nicely with Zero's dimensional portal ability. Although I would reason that the club itself is a focus point for Zero's power, allowing him to produce these multiple subdimensions without significant effort on his part. That way he can float there all day without rest.
Incidentally, y'know the puddle of mist in the corner of the dancefloor, I read somewhere that it was supposed to be the 'field' and that MM pets will attack it. -
CoX has come a long way since launch. It is certainly not a beta. Granted Champions may have some features that CoX is currently lacking, but in the end CoX has a solid playerbase and has been constantly augmented with free updates. Very few MMO's can say they have that.
