Who knows, it's certainly not one of the buffs they fired off in the demo though.
Possible, but I doubt it somewhat. You can hear that little noise the game makes when you try and use a power that's not recharged rather a bit when you listen to the demo. Especially towards the end there. -

Quote:Well. Trials of Atlantis was considered by many to be the start of DAoC's downfall. How could it possibly be the final death? It's an optional extra. You don't kill a game with new optional goodies.
It's somewhat a different thing though, it'd be like forcing everyone in CoH to do hardcore PvP in order to achieve the rumored 50+ content. They basically shoehorned high end hardcore raiding and PvE farming into a primarily PvP endgame. -
Yea, just looked in the character creator myself and you're right. I've used the shoulder pieces several times so I recognized those. I think I've used the glove and boot pieces once or twice at most though.
I will say, they look much more impressive when shiny -

Well, in the video I saw there were about 6 or so attacks that I noticed. The animations all seemed fairly speedy except for the pbaoe. Heck, even the pbaoe was only 3 or so seconds I think, which if it was a nuke of some sort would be pretty understandable.
It looked to me like a pistols/em blaster to me. There were a lot of energy manipulation self buffs in the initial buff-up phase. -

They don't play CoH anymore, but the manager at a nearby Gamestop played CoH. He quit because CoH didn't have enough hardcore end-game raiding and started playing WoW.
Yea .... -
Sure I'll toss mine into the hat.
Something comes to Yarmouth Arc# 58812 -
-
So I've been waiting for one of the new events on hero side Justice for about 3 hours now. Just how infrequent are these buggers?
-
My energy/dev blaster is my main badge character. Though I also tend not to group much with her since I hit 50 on her years ago. Just when I run her through the very occasional TF.
I'm honestly of the opinion that it's the most 'fun' of all the blaster primaries. Not the best, but it's certainly fun (and suprisingly safe to play too). -
Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike for those little cheap as all getout buggers. They went beyond being a challenge right into being frustrating.
-
Well, since you still appear to be doing this, feel free to check out my arc Something comes to Yarmouth (#58812) whenever you get a chance.

In the first mission I'd probably make a reference to it being the local skulls as opposed to just the skulls in general, but that's just me being a little nit-picky I think.
In the second mission, if the title of the bank is 'First National Bank of Arachnos' the whole thing should be capitilized. It still seems odd that Arachnos would outsource the security to their official bank to plain old security guards.
Swiss-Knife Sam seems an odd name for a demolitions expert.
In the fourth mission briefing the phrase, "time to make our terror felt in Paragon City," reads a little oddly to me for some reason. As a side note, I was 28 when I did this mission ... I really hate PPD Equalizers and Ghosts ... so much.
Nothing odd really struck me about the fifth mission.
Overall it's not a bad little arc you've got going. The text could stand to get another editing pass or so though I think. Some sentences seem a little cumbersome, and the paragraphs could stand to be broken up a little. Mostly it's readability issues more than anything else.
Bottom line is I played it and had fun. It was a nice light arc and nothing stood out to me as a problem beyond me delving into nit-pickyness.
Anyhoo. If you want to give it a whirl I'd appreaciate it if you'd try out my arc Something Comes to Yarmouth. It's #58812. -
If you feel like playing Something Comes to Yarmouth (arc #58812) that'd be spiffy.

Quote:What exactly is giving you those impressions. Your 3 is possible I suppose, though they went to a fair amount of effort to give mirrors of any of the accolades that really provide any real positive power (+hp and the like). I'd imagine you could end up with both of the accolades, but only one copy of the powers myself.I'm still under the impression that....
1. only 50's can switch sides.
3. you can get both set of accolades hero and villain.
As for the first one. It's actually probably a better question than an assumption really. I've always been under the impression that you could switch sides at any time in your character's career, but now that I think about it, I'm not really sure that it's ever been said either way. -
Quote:There was an interview the other month with Posi over at Tentonhammer where he's quoted as saying this:1) Will lvl 50 toons be upgradeable? And if so, how? Universal Enhancements? More Normal Slots to fill out powers?
Were going to have a whole new system that will allow max-level players to take their max-level characters and make them even more powerful.
So that kind of half answers your question at least. I'm hoping we'll get some of the how at Hero-con without needing to specifically ask for it. I'm personally kind of expecting whatever it is it will be tied to new end-game content of some kind. -
Quote:By the same token, there's really not a dang thing wrong with anyone wishing anyone else a 'merry' or 'happy' anything. If someone is so oversensitive as to get upset over someone wishing them well on a different religion's holiday that's their problem really.Hahaha. "War on Christmas". Epic bull ****. It doesn't exist, and there's not a damned thing wrong with saying "Happy Holidays" if you're not oversensitive and defensive about your cultural preferences not being central to everyone.
Most people I've ever met have really been ok with it. I've been wished a 'Merry Christmas' by practicing Jews, Muslims and stringent atheists before and I do my best to try and wish folks well on their holidays as well (though I'm admittedly hazy on Muslim holidays). I've yet to be wished a Happy Hanukkah, but if it were to happen this year I fail to see how I should do anything but respond in kind to the person trying to be nice. -
Quote:Yea, that's the only reason I picked my snipe back up on my energy blaster, I had a somewhat throwaway power slot and a couple snipe IOs. So now I get a chunk of +recharge out of it.From an IO standpoint snipes are great way to pick up a cheap +7.25% global recharge bonus.
And a fully IO slotted snipe is a pretty nifty attack- with enough -interrupt you can throw it out in combat. It's also great for picking off runners, and the extreme range is tactically useful for a soloing blaster.
The snipe still kind of sucks though. I can do more damage with other powers in the same amount of time it takes for the snipe to animate and fire off. I do use it occasionally as an opener, but that's pretty much only on a whim since I figure I have the power, I might as well use it once in a while at least. -
Quote:Oddly I always feel that way when I play my Energy Blast characters.Maybe it's just my imagination (I'm sure one of the Number Slaves will be along to tell me how many milliseconds it takes each power to fire, and how that compares with, say, Energy Blast), but I always feel like I'm late to the party when I play my Rad Blast characters.
Oh, also I'd like to second pretty much everything Sam has said about snipes in this thread. A majority of the time I'm usually better off using attacks other than the snipe. Heck, snipes don't even add all that much to defiance in spite of their huge wind up. -
Quote:It just seemed a redundant comment in a wish list of features is all. Now I'm honestly curious though, what sort of meaningful "end game" content do you want to see? I've personally played and liked pretty much all the "end game" type content out there in some form or another over the years and when the content's done well I like them all really, so there's no bias behind me asking you that.I just looked at the title of the thread. i didn't notice it stated "in addition to what we know". Incidentally, my opinion of what constitutes a meaningful amount of "end game" probably differs from the devs' view. In fact I know it does.
Quote:Look at it another way, the time spent on a zone revamp can do one of several things.
1. be wasted
2. be better spent doing something else
3. further dilute the small player base
4. be so good they create a new hub effectively killing an existing one
Think of it as trimming the fat so that CoX can emerge as a faster, more efficient game.
Also, I don't know that diluting the playerbase is quite so bad a thing here in CoH as it is in other games out there. With the speed of travel in between zones being so low, and the global chat system letting people communicate with each other regardless of which zone their in or even which server they're a player (who knows how to use the chat system ... there really should be more in-game information about that) can end up with a far less 'empty' feeling than they would in another game's lower populated zone.
I don't know if I, personally, want an efficient game. I'd prefer a fun game. For me that's a game with a lot of fun things to do, which isn't always terribly efficient. It's why I wish they'd be able to revise some of the lesser used content in CoH, since there's really a lot of potential there for great content. (Not that I'm even slightly against new zones mind you) -
Quote:See ... now I'm curious as to why someone would neg-rep me for this with a, ""Thanks for deducting rep from this user." "My pleasure." comment. Does someone dislike Barnes & Noble or GameStop just that much or something? The biggest reason to pre-order for me is that I can keep on adding more to my GameStop preorder and buy the thing piecemeal as opposed to all at once. I'd possibly go with somewhere else, but B&N employees get an employee discount at GameStop too, so I might as well ya.
Bah. -
