So, this may not be exactly the most popular stance on my part, but what the hey.
As long as they kept on producing quality free issues like they do now, I'd easily pay $20 or so once or twice a year for a 'paid issue'. As long as they didn't stick any gameplay mechanics or any big 'plot' developments into the thing I'd be cool with it. Just a new zone, a 10 level span of dev created content and perhaps a themed costume piece or something.
I'd be ok with each side getting one purchaseable EAT, or even them both sharing one. One would probably be my limit on that one, and if it wasn't a balanced AT I'd have issues too as would, I'm sure, many people.
The only real line I'd draw for purchaseable stuff would be power pools and powersets I think, although those are (apparently) fine if they're included in a big expansion of some sort (whee GR!). Also, as I said earlier, as long as this stuff was in addition to new free content I'd be just fine and dandy with it.
I'm usually quite willing to pay for an appetizer or desert as long as I still get my dinner. -
Quote:Sooo ... it's kind of like what Tolkien was for the fantasy genre.I both consider WoW revolutionary and the worst thing to ever happen to MMOs. Revolutionary because, yes, it really opened the genre up and made it mainstream. Horrible because about 2/3 of the MMOs that have come out since it got big just feel like somebody's desperate attempt to make The Next WoW.

It's been mentioned several times actually as 'Fist of the North Star'. As for Wicked City though, I believe we're trying to shy away from 'adult' anime.
-
Bah, of course we want it.
We just want it from someone who actually would bother to go and -1 the things they don't like (as I did with Death Note) instead of just coming and making statements that seem intended largely to garner attention. -
Quote:You're doing it because it's funThat's the head-scratcher though. In theory if there was some gas on a far away planet that gave humans super strength, would that be natural? I mean ANY human that gets exposed to science-gas gets superpowers. So that's natural? Is Hulk natural cause you could take any human and expose them to that radiation and they'd gain powers? Are Trolls natural?
To me, it's not natural BECAUSE there's an outside source involved. Any Kryptonian can gain superpowers, but not without a yellow sun. In the same way that any human can be a Troll, but not without Superadine.
There's an outside source which is causing the powers, and that outside source is either going to be magic, science, or technology. Inside sources are mutation and natural. The way I rationalize them, anyway. Not saying that's correct or even canon; that's just how I consider them when I make new characters.
Why am I still derailing this thread with Superman's origin when I said I wouldn't? vv
But anyhoo ....
I generally would say that if some hypothetical gas on some distant planet gave any human that came into contact with it, without altering a human's natural biology in any way a set of (reasonably) predictable superpowers that had fairly little variance from human to human ... that would be a natural aspect of human physiology and not some sort of weird science effect. To me a science origin would have to change the natural makeup of a person/alien/whatever in order to move it from natural. -
But it's 'natural' because it's not special that he has his powers. You take any Kryptonian to Earth and they'd have powers. It's a 'natural' aspect of the race. (as I understand it anyway)

Quote:Just a cursory page-through of the issue notes from the wiki:I wonder, if someone compiled all the new costume stuff we've ever gotten over the issues, would the current rate of free stuff be same as the rate from, say, before the Wedding pack?
From a cursory glance, it looks like the current rate of free stuff is about the same, but the overall rate of new costume pieces is higher.Issue 1 - June 29, 2004
That's certainly not an exhaustive list of everything, and I might well have missed something, but there you go.Added the tailor and the costume slots at 20, 30 and 40
Issue 2 - September 16, 2004Added capes and auras
Issue 3 - January 4, 2005Appears to have added nothing costume wise.
Issue 4 - May 4, 2005"A significant increase in the costume selections available." If I remember correctly, these are a couple faces, the robes and the shirts mostly. I'm sure there were some other things that I forget about though.
Issue 5 - August 31, 2005Appears to have added nothing costume wise.
Issue 6 - October 27, 2005No additions in the issue itself, though it was the release of CoV and villain characters had access to a plethora of new costume options.
Issue 7 - June 6, 2006Hero characters would now have access to previously villain-only costume pieces if the owner had a combined CoH/CoV account.
Good vs. Evil pack - September, 2006
Several costume pieces were added. I can't remember which ones they were, and the wiki didn't elaborate beyond this.Sinister and Justice costume sets
Issue 8 - November 28, 2006Veteran reward costumes.
Issue 9 - March 6, 2007
Several new patterns, two new hair-styles, several new ear options, and some goggles. (might have missed something)The crafted costume pieces.
Issue 10- July 24, 2007Vanguard costume pieces.
Issue 11- November 28, 2007
The bunny tail (and several costume 'tweaks')The new hairstyles.
The Wedding Pack - February, 2008
Weapon customization.
Two new tux looks for all and several female exclusive pieces.
Issue 12- May 20, 2008Roman costume pieces.
Super Booster 1: Cyborg - September, 2008
The English monocle.
Several new chest details, four new patterns.
Since it's technically new costume pieces I suppose, the VEAT's came out here, so their initial costume selections were 'new'.
Issue 13- December 2, 2008The day job costume pieces.
The Mac Special Edition Pack - March 2009The Valkyrie pieces.
Issue 14- April 8, 2009Nothing of significance. (valkyrie blades for DB and 'waist capes for female widows)
Super Booster 2: Magic - April, 2009
Issue 15- June 29, 2009Vines pattern, ulterior costume set.
Super Booster 3: Superscience - July, 2009
Free costume change emotes.
Issue 16 - September 15, 2009Appears to have added nothing costume wise.
Super Booster 4: Martial Arts - November, 2009
Added power customization. -
I seem to recall something along those lines. I also seem to recall a comment about other costume bits too. That aside, it still means the costume pieces will be available to folks.

Quote:The only real similarity between Justice and Ulterior is that they both make a big cross pattern across the chest. They're really not all that much the same aside from that I don't think.Anyways, honestly, I didn't even notice that the Ulterior or Vines costumes even existed. Ulterior looks just like Justice, which WAS added over a year ago(Earth time).
I still say that regardless of disappointment factor involved, 20 or so faces, a costume set, a costume pattern and several costume change emotes constitutes a fairly nice addition to the game. Not that I wouldn't like to see more mind you (and I fully expect to see a good chunk of new costumes with GR personally). -
Quote:That's like saying the word 'good' doesn't apply to comics, or cartoons, or science-fiction or any other broad grouping.Seeing as the word "good" doesn't apply to anime, ever, I'll have to agree with your quote. Indeed, in anime everyone is running like that, looking stupid.
Anime may not be your thing, but that doesn't mean that none of it is good. I doubt that's going to change anyone's mind who says that sort of thing about anything, but still. -

Why would anyone tip? I mean it's not like waiters (or delivery folks) are actually, you know, doing anything. Ohhh, they bring out food, so difficult.
/sarcasm
Scarily enough, I actually had someone say roughly just that to me once when I was discussing tipping with them. -
The nice thing about the whole 'ninja run' power is that it should allow all those folks who've wanted a 'natural' travel power for years to have one. Granted, it's fairly thematically specific and will run you an additional $10, but it's there which is nice I suppose.

Yea, the Dark Astoria zombie attack is always good for a laugh.
I also find the thought of a zombie attack in Firebase Zulu to be kind of entertaining too, but I'm weird like that. -

Quote:Nono. In order to really be true to the spirit of the Easter Egg, they'd have to add in a whole new animation when it fired off. Basically it'd have your character leaping sideways in excruciatingly slow-mo while firing off both of their pistols rapid-fire like at their opponents while the flock of doves appears around them.I'd really love it if the doves thing was left in as a one-in-a-million chance to fire Easter Egg in the Live version. I mean who wouldn't love it if just suddenly, you hit your T9 and bang! Doves! It'd be a great little surprise, and they already have the assets done.

Quote:No. Equilibrium, while not getting the best overall reviews was most certainly not universally panned, just largely so (about 1/3 of the reviews were favorable). It's also been fairly well received by the general public (as far as can be determined by ratings on IMDB and other such websites). Ultraviolet on the other hand ... not so much.No. I'm judging both movies. and both have been universally panned.
I don't know if I'd exactly recommend Equilibrium to someone just at the drop of a hat. However I would certainly recommend it to a fan of the action genre (it's not really much of a sci-fi film truth be told). More specifically to hong kong and kung-fu action fans, as I think the overall style of the film draws from them to a certain extent. -
Quote:You're overlooking the most likely thing though. They just took the recharge timers being used in their current build and played the demo with that. Aside from the 'nuke' pretty much everything looked to have roughly the same sort of recharge my blasters get with two recharge SOs/IOs.Or even more likely, the recharge numbers are "regular" and they simply have a power that automagically refreshes all powers' cooldown timers to usable.
What folks saw in the video may or may-not be what we end up with though. I'd guess most likely not ... darn tweaking and testing. -
Except for all the side switching content for everyone, the high-level content that's been announced for the game, and any as-yet unannounced content they're creating in the next 6+ months for the expansion.

Quote:So if we then gave it some sort of mini-flamethrower attachment it'd be the dual mini-assault rifles set. Score! Some sort of mini-shotgun shell for the cone, and a mini-explosive round for the AoE.
Seriously though. If you were to do a straight up just shooting at people set then don't give it a ranged AoE. Give it two cones that involve shooting fast in an arc in front of you and then a PBAoE where you just spin around shooting.
I'm perfectly happy with the crazy gun-fu animations sans-doves (since we're not getting those). I'd be even happier if they went above and beyond for us and offered a whole second set of animations that was plain-jane to use on a subdued costume or something. I really don't expect that though. -
Quote:Personal guess? They're on whichever side they zoned in from.I have a new question though. Where do rogues and vigilantes fit into lolpvp?
It's either that or they can't zone into the PvP zones from anywhere but their original side until they full switch over. They'd likely pass that off as being due to being trusted enough to get past the security. Or somesuch .... -
Quote:Ohhh right. The Christian Bale rant. Gocha. I was seeing that picture and thinking more of the movie it's from than the actor specifically.Christian Bale is the link
A picture wa sposted of him from the movie to show how he looks like the concept art for Tyrant, so I just thought of Tyrant having a similar workplace attitude
You know, I don't believe I've ever actually heard that rant, just heard about it. To forestall any possible linkage, I'm not terribly interested in hearing it either.
