Glad I could do my part in bringing up painful blocked memories. Anything else you need me to remind you of?

And this was before nummy things like the RWZ, Cimerora and the associated TFs. This was a case of 'if you want lvl 50, get your butt on a Family farm map and hope you can stay awake long enough to get 50'. I wanted Kheldians that badly, back then. And it still took a long time.
You know, oddly, on my first 50 (which was back then too) I didn't really have a problem getting from 40-50. The issue was more actually getting from 38-40. I'd completely run out of my own content and was having absolutely terrible luck in groups at the time.

Took me freaking forever to get there. Wasn't until I ran into someone leveling up their warshade (who actually knew what the heck he was doing) that I got there. Once I hit 40 though it was just a matter of slightly over a week running my content that I hit 50.

My understanding is that you can pre-buy the standard edition for (roughly) $30 and then there will also be a special you can buy for (probably) $10 that will give you access to all the goodies in the $40 complete collection.

It won't, however, contain the free month of game time that you would get if you just bought the complete collection by itself when the expansion's released.

The way I read the information it seems it more of a 'buy the whole thing now and get access to it in a few months' than it is a typical 'pre-order'.

It makes sense since I believe that Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning are only available to players who've purchased GR. Since pre-orders can be canceled they'd have to remove access to characters, but if someone's already bought the thing there's really not as much an issue with that.

How odd. I just like the red/blue combination. It always strikes me as fairly 'heroic'.

Hmmm? I sadly have only a vague knowledge of GI-Joe. Some friends of mine were big fans growing up, but for some reason I could never actually catch the show. I was more into Transformers and TMNT.

Did I inadvertently do a similar costume to someone? That'd be kind of weird, depending.

But they do auto level characters quite frequently in beta testing. They won't do it immediately and they generally do it in several stages. After a couple of days they'll bump the desired powersets/what-have-you to somewhere in the 30s and then generally sometime the next week they'll bump to 50. They've been doing it every time they add a powerset for quite a while actually.

I really think they're saying if you pre-pay you get the powersets on live. I mean, they're already in beta for Dual Pistols, I mean just how long do you think it takes to test just one powerset at a time (especially without any other accompanying issue related testing)? Plus for at least a bit of time I would imagine the test server will be down for testing of at least I17, unless you're suggesting that pre-purchase is a guaranteed in to closed beta testing of that (and possibly GR) at the earliest stages I can guarantee you people would raise holy-hell that the character they, "Paid good money for," is currently unplayable.

Um, Total Focus? Gun drone's animation is 7 seconds too I think (or something equally absurd). I also think frozen aura is less than half a second faster than Eagle's Claw.

    Just saying.

  12. So ... just looked over that bit of mostly no information. It did say that two of the new guest author arcs are going live tomorrow right? I didn't just read that last paragraph wrong?

I mean, I know it said to come look at the webpage tomorrow for any real interviews, but it also seemed to say new guest author arcs live tomorrow.

    Also ... seriously horrible picture.
  13. I remember having an argument with some folks about how I was stupid for having a travel power before the booster pack even came out. Their stance was it was so easy to get temp travel powers that you were only gimping yourself by wasting power choices on the "useless" travel powers. I disagreed arguing that travel powers are a matter of fun and concept more than anything else. They thought I was stupid. Fun times.

So no, I don't think it's explicitly a ninja run thing.

You realize that the SW:TOR isn't coming out until at least spring 2011 right?

In any case I've never really found graphics to be mandatory for fun. They can certainly enhance a game, but they really aren't necessary.

Oh good lord no. I love snow. This is the most we've had in years and I'm quite happy for it. I'm just surprised by the condition of the roads.
  16. There's a lot of snow here in Charlottesville. Or more accurately a lot of snow here for Charlottesville. Most we've had in years, and nobody here can drive worth a damn in the first place.

Odd thing is they're usually way ahead of the curve on tossing down salt and plowing the roads. I mean they'll salt when there's just a high chance of snow ... and this time nothing. Not even any plows aside from 'random guy with a plow on their pickup'.

You know honestly, I made my grav/FF controller looking forward to that power. It was a concept character more than anything else though.
  18. Yea, my energy/dev always has an incredibly easy time ToTing.

    c) Tsoo Yellow Ink Man (ranged sleep)

I asked a number of SG mates this question, and I was fairly surprised at their answers. Assume you're a level 23 blaster, and the minions are orange con, which means you can probably take out one of the minions outright with 1 aim + build up blast but would take 2 shots to take out the Sorcerer. Who would you attack first and why?
    Energy/Dev so I won't have BU.
Open with Energy Torrent then start in on the sorcerer. It's easy to keep the Green Ink Man out of commission. Power Push fits very nicely into an attack chain and using it I can keep any melee nuisance safely out of the action (as long as they aren't resistant to knockback). The sleep from the Yellow Ink Man is a fairly trivial concern as far as it goes so that doesn't worry me so much. The sorcerer on the other hand is just so damnably annoying. Sure, targeting drone makes his acc debuff not sting as much, but there's still the heal and the hold ... and that freaking annoying teleporting around.

    Quiz question #2:

In the following group, who would you attack first and why?
    a) Vahzilok Mortificator (ranged -slow, revive fallen cadavers, hard hitting melee attack)
    b) Vahzilok Embalmed Cadaver (explodes, dumb AI)
    c) Vahzilok Murk Eidolon (downgraded from a boss to a Lt, Midnight Grasp, Opressive Gloom)

Assume you're a level 11 blaster, and have build up but not aim. The Lts con yellow while the Embalmed cons white.
Probably start with an energy torrent again. If the embalmed was knocked down I'll go after the eidolon, but if not I go after it first. That way even if the murk holds me I at least don't have to eat all the damage from the embalmed exploding. If I don't take out the murk before the embalmed gets back up I'll likely toss out another KB attack at the walking bomb and repeat the whole scenario.

  23. Yea, each costume slot can have different color powers.
