Or they can spend 90 bucks to unlock them, far far more money then any super booster every cost, or even the combined game boxes cost.

I seriously hope we get to choose what order we unlock stuff in each tier.

I am not happy with having to spend 90 bucks or waiting half a year to get new costume stuff. It better not be half ***** like the Ascension costume parts/steampunk booster costume parts/animal pack parts is/are.
Personally I'm sincerely hoping that since the normal tier 9 rewards are all repeatable (I imagine that's what the green arrows circling those slots means anyway in the picture) that as long as you're a VIP customer and have the tier 9 slots open, then you can 'buy' those costume rewards.

I wouldn't really put any money on that or anything, but I'm hopeful at least.

Where does it say 'rotate'? To me 'refresh' seems to indicate they'll be bringing in a stream of new content for that tier every 3-4 months. If that turns out to be the case I'd imagine when new content comes through, they'll take the previous content and open it up to purchase on the in-game store. Which means not only would vets get the pieces early, they would effectively get it for 'free'.

I mostly think it'll be a steady stream since if it was rotated through you'd run into issues of people just missing the piece they wanted and having to wait months and months until it cycled back around again as well as the issue of the rotation eventually getting entirely too long (not to mention that eventually everyone would end up having all of the rotating content).

Honestly it struck me as fairly straightforward to tell the truth. You get your tokens, you slot your tokens into a tier. Fill up a tier move on to the next one. Putting tokens in slots gives you 'neat stuff'.

If you have any vet badges on your account they give your account a token for each one plus one extra token for every year you've played.

That is, of course, assuming I haven't missed something horrible somewhere.

I'm still relatively sad that we're not ever likely to see the 'other' EATs they hinted at long ago. Playing a character with my Coralax costume code just isn't as satisfying as playing a Coralax EAT.

It is however, very much the implication that many people will draw from a statement like that. Especially on the internet where I've noticed people seem more likely to read too much into statements (and just flat-out not get sarcasm).

Personally my first thought when I hear someone say something like that is to ask if they're saying that people are actually getting food poisoning from Fred's Steak Sandwiches. Partly because a lot of people don't always get the possible implication behind their otherwise innocent remarks (most everyone seems to do it on occasion), and partly because I've known far too many people who like to insult and deride others without actually ever directly saying anything bad about them (something I'm most definitely not trying to imply you're doing).

Blaster do not only not have the worst hitpoints in the game, there are 9 other ATs with lesser hit points.

How could you be so wrong about something like this and then come into the forums and make such forceful statements based on ignorance?
While I don't completely agree with the idea that you quoted, you're 'ignoring' Another_Fan based on a misquote.

The comment was that there's no reason for blasters to have the worst hit points of any of the damage dealing ATs. Now I don't really agree with that, and it's also still not completely accurate, but it's far less wrong that the picture you paint.

Blasters are tied with one of the damage ATs (stalkers) and have more than dominators, but they have less HPs than the other 'damage' ATs (scrappers, brutes).

Now that aside, I do have a thought based on a comment from earlier in the thread. If it's true that blasters are the most commonly played AT at the mid levels (which is very believable), and yet drop down to the third most played AT at higher levels which kind of coincides with when the other damage ATs performances starts to but in on a blaster's (in my opinion). Doesn't that indicate some level of problem to anyone else?

It's certainly not 'OMG blasters are superfluous' level of a problem or anything, but it would seem to indicate a problem that should be, at some point, at least looked at.
  11. See, you're mixing up your definitions of 'alien'. (edit: Bah, no you're not. I jumped the gun and posted before reading your last paragraph) Neither the Rikti or the Praetorians are extraterrestrial and I don't think the Hydra are either. All of them come from earth, just a different one, kind of like that old sci-fi show Sliders.

However they all are non-native to primal earth and would be legally aliens in the same way someone from a foreign country would be an alien.

Oh I know. That whole Battalion requiring inventions was from an article in a magazine years ago. I'm not sure when it was exactly, but I want to say it was either before or just slightly after CoV was released. I'm not positive on that though.

No, the Rikti are genetically altered humans from Earth in another dimension. That's still Earth. Now the alien race that altered them on the other hand, that's certainly alien. Unless it's changed in the lore, I believe that race was supposed to be called the Battalion. At one point I believe it was supposed to be a really strong enemy group we'd end up facing that we'd need IOs to stand up to.

So this brings up a good question. Why the freaking hell was he in the movie more than Megatron? I don't want to see 'human lackey #1' more often than Megatron as if he was really the main villain.

    Gah.
  15. So I watched this last night when I lost power due to a thunderstorm. So I knew I wasn't going to like it, but good freaking lord. I almost actively hate every single annoying as all hell freaking human character in this franchise at this point. They're just annoying, unsubtle caricatures (Deep Wang ... you have got to be freaking kidding me). Similarly the comic relief robots were just as annoying in this movie as the twins of the last one.

I liked most of the rest of the robots in the film, and they had several scenes that actually made me care (though not the freaking Challenger explosion freaking thing ... WTH man). Though realistically they have less characterization and development than the humans. I mean really, an accent is not the same thing as characterization Mr Bay. Although, on that note, why do the NASCAR-bots have Scottish accents.

The bot's character models are confusing (especially when it comes to the Decepticons), it's almost impossible to differentiate a lot of the models from each other. I don't recall but maybe one scene where they even vaguely mentioned any of the Autobot's names aside from Bumblebee and Optimus Prime (and I suppose Sentinel Prime) and I don't think they ever even mentioned Starscream's name. Heck, there was a scene with a 'Mexican Standoff' that had four grey colored bots pointing weapons on them and heck if I know who any of them were from the dialogue in the scene (or any of it leading up to that).

    Graaahhhhh! Anger! Frustration!

So I go in with my blaster and hunt for grenades and acids just fine. I die occasionally sure, but it's on a 50 so who really cares. That said there are also things I'd much prefer to build for on her than defense, and while I'd never get upset over a stalker or scrapper not holding aggro on something like an AV I do get annoyed when I team with a tanker who can't whold aggro(which has happened).

I wouldn't complain anywhere but maybe tells to friends though.

  18. Ok, so some days I like to team and some days I just don't want to interact with another living soul (in game or out of it) so I'm honestly all for solo incarnate content. I think it could have a place right alongside the whole trial system they have going on.

I don't think it's going to come before (or with) I21 though. I kind of imagine that if they managed to decide on a good way to set it up then it got pushed to either stretch goals on current/upcoming issues if possible and if not was probably put into upcoming issues not currently in the development cycle. So that would put it off until after 21 if they couldn't squeeze it in.

The only real complain I have with the people asking for solo incarnate content is that some of them really seem to have an attitude of, "I want it now, why isn't it hear yet," about them. That sort of thing isn't terribly useful in persuading people to their point of view and generally seems more likely to start arguments than anything else. Not that the pro-incarnate trial bunch are entirely blameless either mind you since they can 'attack' pretty harshly in 'defense' of an aspect of gameplay they enjoy.

    That said.

So if all this 'stuff' sells well, what do you honestly think they're going to do with any increase in revenue? It's not so much a faith in the devs as it is a faith in Paragon Studios being a business. If it sells well and they can conceivably make more of that type of thing that sells well they most likely will, and while they haven't talked about hiring people they have certainly talked about optimizing their studio structure to enable a more rapid production of content. On top of that if things sell well and they need to hire people to keep up the stream of content I would hope they will as not hiring people to keep up with demand (assuming you can afford to do so) would be silly.

Basically my expectation is based on the thought that they will see an increase in revenue with Freedom. I'm not saying I expect the equivalent of a booster every month or anything here but I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a small increase in things they release to sell to us after it goes live.

In any case, who knows. I may end up being horribly wrong (it's certainly possible), but then again so might you. We'll have to wait to find out.

However if, at any point, I run out of points then the conclusion is obviously the opposite, yes the game has cost me more than it did during a year when a full boxed expansion was released.
I'll be incredibly surprised if they don't put out more things to buy in the next year then they have in the past. If they don't they may not understand the f2p business model very well.

The big question for me over the year following Freedom is if I maintain my VIP status will I get more content than I used to, or less? At the moment they're promising us that we'll be getting more, and many people are saying they expect less. Personally I'm being somewhat optimistic and hoping for more.

I would kind of imagine a nice wind-up decapitation sort of swing. Very basic looking honestly.

To be honest though I'm unsure if a scythe would be well served by the same sort of animations that have to be used for a big-honking-sword and an axe. Maybe that's just my mental image of them though.

I'm not even remotely trying to claim that they're not. It's just easy to classify them as western=comic books, Japanese=manga, and so on. Similarly it's easy to classify western cartoons as such and label Japanese cartoons as 'anime'. Nothing but an easy short-hand do differentiate between them for me. It's certainly easier than typing out 'Japanese comic books' every time I want to specifically reference manga.

Come to think of it I think I own more collections of manga (tankobon I guess ...) than I do graphic novels.

Oh, I said I liked mine and I do. It also works fairly well, especially at moving around enemies. That doesn't mean I don't have some issues with it too though.

Same thing goes for my 'main' character ... which is an energy/dev blaster. I love the character, but I'd never in a million years level a single other blaster with devices as the secondary set again. Unless of course, they did a pass of the set and it was improved for team play somewhat.

It's from the newsletter they sent out about going F2P. It's off to the side of the blurb talking about the market and being a VIP customer. That doesn't help all that much I guess, but I suppose I could see it as being part of the store's GUI possibly.
