  1. Fluffy is perma out of the box for defenders (and corrs), so slot firstly for Tht_Debuff then some combination of heal/hold/immob depending on how you use him. An accuracy is nice too (later on, Acc/Mez HOs are good).

And take Darkest Night earlier! Like at lvl 6!

Temps aside, you won't be doing decent damage at low levels as an Ice/Earth troller. Both primaries are meant to offer more crowd control potential, not damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ice i agree with but i found my earth troller was more than able to handle himself on the damage front. The only problem i had was against CoT's but apart from that, no probs at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ice and Earth do exactly the same (small) damage at low levels except for the type (Cold vs Smashing). This comes from the single-target hold, the single-target immob and the group immob (very small damage). It might be that you were hitting more often with Earth because of the -def (while Ice powers do -rechg and -movt).

i would like some form of damage and figured emp + fire ball would make for some heavy damage numbers.
I really dont want psi though because too many controllers have it and i want something to stand out a bit better.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Psi Tornado does very decent damage under Containment (with some handy knockup and -rechg). The main drawback is the longish recharge and that's it's only available at 47. I actually see a lot more trollers with the Fire Epic because of Fire Ball Anyway, pick the Epic you like best.

    [ QUOTE ]
On my current live build i found that enhancing the hold in blind wasnt really worth it since the entire mob is usually dead (or at the brink) before it wares off, so thats the reason i went mostly for the damage

    [/ QUOTE ]
With HOs/IO sets you can do both. At high level, enhancing the hold is only important against EBs/AVs (and for PvP). With my slotting on Blind I have something like 75% Acc 90% Dmg 75% Hold 67% Rechg and a 15% chance for an extra Mag 2 Hold.

    [ QUOTE ]
Could anyone post a link to a Guide or Build that isn't with IOs (Since I can never afford them)?

    Level 1: Containment

A few things you can do differently:
    - Flash is handy in the mid-game, but not really essential later on (and a bit useless pre-SOs).
    - Deceive: I would recommend it early on, especially if you solo.
    - Depending on how much of a team build you want, you should consider things like Mutation and Recall Friend.
    - I prefer Superior to Group Invis (toggle vs clicky). Both have their uses.
    - Not a fan of Choking Cloud for trollers, but it can also be of use.
    - Epics: really depends what you're looking for. All have some nice powers.
  4. For farming, Fire or Psi. IW can be made perma (or close) with enough +rechg from set bonuses. For PvP, Fire/Kin is not that great, so it doesn't matter that much although I would stay away from defense-based shields for a troller. You could also use Earth for farming: it will be slower but safer than the other 2. You shouldn't really need the Fighting pool on a Fire/Kin.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I want to try ice/sonic or stone/sonic, both not having really damaging powers, what are the 'tricks' to still get decent damage for solo play?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Get to 32 . Seriously, there are a few things which can help, but solo damage will be medicore for both primaries, especially with /sonic as a secondary. The first would be to take the single target immob and slot for damage. Air Superiority would help too. I played a Grav/Sonic and even with Lift/Propel/Crush soloing was painful (hence I was not very happy when they nerfed my Epic blast ). Other secondaries help a bit with res debuffs (rad, TA), dmg buffs (kin) or decent attacks (storm, TA), but not all trollers are solo-friendly, especiallly pre-pets. There's a price to pay for uber control...
  6. Okton

    ill/rad build

    A few more comments:

    - Blind: too important a control power to slot with a full dmg set. Use a combination of HOs and Hold IO sets (maybe 2 Devastations for the +regen).
    - Spectral Wounds: I prefer Decimation for the +rechg.
    - Superior Invis already puts you at the stealth cap, so I wouldn't bother with stealth IOs (and you can't slot more than one btw). The power itself needs more EndRdx.
    - PA: I think dipstar means 3 Rechgs (and 3 Nucleos)
    - Health: you can some handy bonuses from sets even with just 2 slots
    - Swift: 2nd slot only worthwhile for PvP.
    - EF: the 3rd EndRdx doesn't add much.
    - Spectral Terror: get a 5th enhance from the GotA set for the +rechg bonus.
    - Lingering Rad: I'm not sure the +acc bonus from the PotT set is needed. You might consider a couple of Tempered Readiness IOs for the +recov. 5 would be nice for the +rechg but you might sacrifice some of the power's effectiveness (particularly recharge).
    - Acro: I would only take it for PvP nowadays and just use a -kback IO (in CJ or Superior Invis)
    - Phant: I use a Nucleolous and 2 IOs from Blood Mandate (for the +recov). 60% acc and 95% dmg is enough.
    - Wouldn't bother with Fighting at all.
    - EM Pulse: 3 Endos 3 Rechg if you can. The bonuses from Hold sets are rather poor.
    - I don't think the Fire Epic is the best pick for an ill/rad (especially if it's a lvl 50 respec). You can get more out of Primal (PB, although you won't have an AoE attack) or Psi (IW, shield). If you still prefer it, I would drop Fire Blast. You might grab Deceive which is still handy at high level (or something else).

    Hope some of this helps!
  7. No! Don't drop Siphon Speed . Really, it's a great power which you can stack easily giving you 40-60% +recharge while you fight, as well as the +movement (works nicely with Hover, or even just as a mini-Super Speed) and great for flooring the recharge of pesky foes. I would suggest getting a stealth IO if you want to ghost things (I use one in Inertial Reduction on one of my kins).

As I said, you can get by without Stamina, but kin is very active, so it will be hard before lvl 35-36 (and both secondaries you mentioned have some kind of +recov powers).
  8. Hi BL,

A few comments which might make your toon a bit more enjoyable:

    - Wormhole at 26 will help a lot . Just use along Crushing Field for a pseudo-hold and place the (stunned) mobs where you want them to be.
    - Concerning buffs, people will be asking you for SB from now until 50, so there's not much you can do (the curse of the kin). ID is a good buff, but the duration is short, so don't bother trying to keep it on everyone, especially in large teams (or on non-squishies).
    - Dimension Shift: AoE phase powers are rather unpopular and mainly only used as panic buttons (especially if people are not familiar with them). I think this is skippable for Grav.
    - Stamina: even if you hate it, most controller builds are quite tight and really benefit from it (since you don't want to waste slots on EndRdx in your control powers if possible). You might be able to drop it after Transference, but that's still a few levels away (and even then, given the hyperactivity of the set, I would tend to keep it unless you have lots of +recov from IO set bonuses). Unless you're going for a flurry of power pool picks, there's not much I'd rather have than the Fitness pool tbh (well maybe Leadership, but I couldn't run it efficiently without Stamina anyway). And don't drop Hasten which is really important for trollers and especially kins (can even get it perma later on).
    - Attacks: true, you probably don't need all of Lift, Crush and Propel, especially at higher level. BUT... Propel's damage (with containment) is great in the lower levels if you solo (and for endless amusement with the animations). Lift: provides some handy k-up for extra control but can be dropped later on. Crush: decent damage and handy in the late game for setting up containment on EBs/AVs.
    - Be patient, Sing ftw!!!111!!! (best troller pet)

    Hope some of this helps!

  10. I can't test it myself having no empath, but it seems to make sense given the values for Regen Aura (500% +regen base). If you could Power Boost it, you would "out-regen" a regen scrapper with IH running. Heals and secondary aside, I still think it's great for empaths for using with Fort (sensible team) or Veng if you have it (not-so-sensible team).

    Ice/stormy build

Arctic Air is (imo) a great power (wide PbAoE with major -rechg -movt as well as -stealth and confuse), although quite end hungry. Glacier comes rather late and has a very long recharge, so your main control tools for a while will be Ice Slick, Shiver and Snow Storm (along with Freezing Rain). Then you'll start doing good damage solo after 35 with Tornado and LS (after Frostbite). Chilblain is mainly useful for 3 things: decent damage at low levels (which you'll be lacking solo), containment on bosses/AVs, and slotting ranged dmg IO sets like Decimation.

Edit: although there's a bit of overlap between AA and Shiver and some people prefer sticking to either a melee approach or a ranged one, I still think both are worth taking.

On slotting Jack, 98% damage and acc is of course great (endrdx is not needed given that he's perma until he dies or zones), my point is that you could simply slot normal IOs and spend a lot less inf (or HOs later on and save slots).

ermm... yeah he will once (if) he slots all those IO sets lol. And I was suggesting dropping Tactics anyway. So with SOs/normal IOs, I would still slot 2 Acc.

    Ice/stormy build

I haven't IOed my ice/storm, but in terms of slotting I would do a few things differently:

    - Ice Slick: 3 Rechgs. No need for EndRdx
    - Glacier: will need more Acc.
    - Block of Ice: I would slot with holds (and acc/rechg) not damage. If you want to slot a Decimation set for the bonuses, take Chilblain (I'd drop the Leadership pool for that and also get AA).
    - Jack Frost: the pet sets aren't that great, so unless you're really keen on the +def bonuses, you can probably save slots/inf.
    - Tornado: I use 3 Dmg 2 Rechg 1 EndRdx.

    Hope it helps!

Gauntlet and Aura Inherent Taunt Changes:

All of these powers may now affect Archvillains and Giant Monsters once again. However, they must pass a ‘To Hit’ check at -20% for the taunt to effect these targets, even for powers such as Invincibility which are normally ‘Always Hit’.

    +Per IOs?

The point is that only sets with self +perception will be able to do it solo (and defenders with Tactics, IO and empowerment buff pre RV).
  22. Random thoughts...

I'd go with Carni's suggestion regarding Stone Prison: at low levels, unless you're teaming all the time, you need every bit of damage you can get. You can then either respec it out later, or keep it for AVs. It's higher Mag than Stone Cages (which btw can be slotted 2 Acc 1 Endrdx), recharges twice as fast, costs half the end and has better accuracy. Stone Cages also work well with Stalagmites, although Earth/Storm already has tons of control (probably THE most controllery controller). So you might even drop Stalagmites later, unless you want to go for the stuntastic Stalagmites/ Thunder Clap / Fissure combo.

Quicksand is perma out of the box, although it's always nice to stack. You might want an EndRdx in Freezing Rain which you'll be spamming all the time.

Snow Storm: I'd try to slot 2 EndRdx 2 Slows.

VG does take Holds and is worth 6-slotting if possible (no need for Acc though).

You might want to slot an EndRdx in both Tornado and Lightning Storm depending on how much you spam them.

If you decide to go with Stone epic (for concept or otherwise, although the +def shield works well with all the -tht powers), take Fissure instead of Hurl Boulder.
  23. I can't see which part is unclear in:

    [ QUOTE ]
This is inconsistent to ALL other Enhancements

    [/ QUOTE ]
MZ's guide (and I'm sure he's looked into this carefully) says that it lowers both the summoning cost and the cost of the power itself (for your henches), which does seem to contradict Posi's statement that it only does the latter. I'll gladly try this on Test with my MM.

Edit: just finished testing and I think MZ is right: slotting EndRdx did reduce the cost of summoning my henches (easy to check) but also reduced the end cost of their attacks (their blue bar was consistently higher than with my usual IO/HO slotting).
  24. And likewise I respect yours .

My point was that mezzes are not necessarily a huge problem for all solo corrs, even at higher levels. Kin doesn't have many options for damage mitigation (or preventing mezzes) since you basically have to arrest things quickly before they get to you (ok, you also reduce their damage). For other sets like dark and rad, ThT debuffs make a huge difference (or mez protection for some sets like I mentioned before). But since my highest dom is only 32, I look forward to a mezz-less future!
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I wouldnt recommend u to play a corruptor coz in late game u will get [censored] off with so much stuns, and no mez protection soloing...

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've only played one corr at high level (fire/dark) but he was very easy to solo (although better in teams with larger spwans ). Dark and Rad offer lots of tools to mitigate damage, so with a few BFs you'll be fine (AM also gives a bit of mez resistance for Rads). Other secondaries like Sonic or Traps have some form of (self) mez protection. Doms are fine for soloing after pets, but a bit slower than most corrs before then imo.
