Checking up on the guides on the US forums, apparently with one Intangible SO Dimension Shift will snag bosses without Domination running. Whether or not with Domination up that will also grab EBs or AVs, I don't know.
I guess you could give it a try with one SO and if that proves too powerful, drop it to a DO...
[/ QUOTE ]
If it grabs bosses as is, it will most probably do the same with EBs (or AVs without purple triangles) when Domination is up. If I remember correctly, (big IF since I dropped DS a long time ago on my troller), the enhances only affect the intangibility duration and not magnitude (unlike Domination). -
Personally, I wouldn't slot Grav powers for slow in PvE. Unlike the Ice control powers, they only affect movement speed and not recharge. This said, the slow effect is quite significant: around 60% for the Grav immobs and holds compared to less than 40% for Block of Ice, Chilblain and Frostbite (Glacier is also around 60%, and Shiver and Arctic Air are over 80%). For PvP, some slows on the Grav immobs can be handy (you probably won't have slots for them on the holds).

any suggestions...would be nice

Take Power Boost and talk to Jum -

Would it be worth slotting three intangibility enhancements in DS or would that be overkill? What sort of magnitude would this produce, enough to phase an AV or a player in PvP?
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't really need intangibility enhances, even for PvP, although it's not particularly accurate (and lasts only 10 secs in PvP). When I used it on my grav/sonic troller, I seem to remember that in PvE by NOT slotting accuracies, it would phase out minions, but leave ltnts / bosses unaffected. I never tried it on an AV since I prefered to use Sonic Cage (which does work btw) as it's single-target, higher mag, has better acc, faster rechg, and longer range. And tbh, I found that except for soloing, neither is a particularly great PvE power. -
[ QUOTE ]
AFAIK it doesn't as it's classified as a pet.

So is Ice Storm -

I have a few high level controllers and they do eventually loose their novelty and can become boring, repetitive or tedious not to mention relatively weak (however useful one or two of thier 'controls' or 'buffs/debuffs' can be on a team). So I can relate to your thoughts. My solution with the illusionist, was to play him when I felt like it but I didn't delete him.. he's now lvl 42 after 18 months.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's your opinion I guess....Controllers are imo the single most interesting AT to play in this game.
Calling them "weak" is probably the single worst description I've ever heard anyone call controllers. And saying they only have 1 or 2 things to contribute to a team?....hmmm!?
[/ QUOTE ]
What Archy said: I find them much more challenging than any other AT really, because they can potentially swerve the tide of a battle. Interesting how some people think they're "weak" (and he did say "high level") just as we get the nerfbat to our Epic blasts
Anyway, as others said, maybe we can make some suggestions to your build (you definitely want Wormhole), but if he's still not enjoyable, just play something else
(I deleted an empath in the mid-20s for the same reason).
PS Don't know if you PvP, but grav/rad can be a nasty combo... -
If anyone has a dmg/mez or acc/mez and wants to trade for a dmg/range, send me a PM.
-
Signing up Okton (ill/rad). If needed I'm happy to join the PA droppers, otherwise, any holding team. We should also remind those holders with Power Boost to make sure they're using it all the time. Makes things a lot easier.
-
Most doms will need Stamina, especially if you plan to PvP. Whenever you have the possibility of respeccing, I would drop Recall Friend and Maneuvers (the +def is tiny) to get it. Also, you should really take Power Boost, which is great with Domination. Make sure you slot 3 dmg in your main attacks (i.e. not Power Bolt or AS). This is probably what I would do up to 32:

Some comments:
- Propel is nice for PvE but the animation is a bit slow for PvP.
- Wormhole is a great power, but needs Crushing Field to work best.
- Gravity Distortion Field: recharge is too long to make much use of it in PvP, but nice to have in PvE.
- If you get some temp powers, you can postpone getting a travel power for a few levels.
- Hasten might not be needed with your attack chain, but I prefer to have it.
- I would not go for AS/Fly, but rather CJ/SJ/Acro (or just Hasten/SS), but that's up to you.
Hope some of this helps! -
Best raid finale ever!

Come on now, both sides were cheating, I hope?

Well, I'd assume the kinetics that started FSing everyone during the hold phase on Union were Defiant saboteurs... and I'd also assume Defiant had their own probs, only for Xanth to nerf the hell out of them...
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope...our spies werent kins....I'm gonna say this though...it's one of your very own!!

oh but did I mention I was soloing the mitos? that's why it took us a bit more time

Sure - spot 8 is yours! (Or maybe 7, as Okton hasn't said he'll be able to make the Sunday slot for sure)
[/ QUOTE ]
Won't know for sure until the last moment, so feel free to offer my spot if anyone else is there before me... -
[ QUOTE ]
Jack frost also has a hold attack I beleive, Jack is an accepted norm on the US raids.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately he only has the melee one (Freezing Touch) and doesn't use it very often, so for high attendance raids like last night's (130 people unhidden?) I don't think it's worth the extra lag (likewise, I wouldn't bother with Dark Servant who might or might not use Petrifying Gaze). -
[ QUOTE ]
we tried to do it just by trollers, but there were quite a few people not listening who just jumped in, didnt really matter though he still dropped and thats all that counts in the end!
[/ QUOTE ]
Troller holds/attacks (I usually had around 6 AMs and 2-3 SBs on me) on top of rad debuffs are basically enough, but at the end others were helping speed things up. -

Out of interest, what was the method utilised to beat Hami?

The usual Clear mitos / Hold Hami / pummel Hami method. -
Gratz Deviants! (and still finished first though)

Grats Onion...well done (we where still faster than you though)

Hehe, but we still finished first
And thanks to Lost Samurai and everyone else (well, except those spamming Fulcrum) for an excellent raid! -

Controller wont be in level range, so my current plan is to bring my Kinetic, Buffem and Run, to help the PA drop team, unless anyone asks otherwise.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I could use a Kin, if that's ok?. I don't have Stamina and SG is an endurance eater.
I'll be on as early as possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry, you won't need to use SG at all. Just spam Tesla during the hold phase and use single-target blasts during the final phase. Since you won't be running any toggles (including shields), endurance should be fine although of course if there are a few kins around to help with recharge (mainly for the hold phase) it certainly won't hurt

[ QUOTE ]
Basically controllers have a chance (20%) to land a critical hold thats double mag...so you'll notice on occassion you will hold a boss in one go rather than two. It's just like scrappers criticals really, although you wont notice it against anything but bosses (and Lts with mez res like fortunatas).
[/ QUOTE ]
That's almost right. It's actually a 20% chance of adding a Mag 1 hold which lasts 75% of the original one. Mag 3 Hold + Mag 1 = Mag 4 which is why you can sometimes hold a boss in one shot. But it doesn't actually double the Mag of the hold (like Domination does).
-
Might pop by if the Hami raid ([hint]which will need all the controllers we can get [/hint]) is over by then
.

[ QUOTE ]
Okton will try to send away his house-guests for a couple of hours but there's a small chance he might not be able to make it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Edited for accuracy. -
afaik Controller hold crits are all set to 20%. So 20 in an hour is within reasonable probability. The only fix I've heard of was to Fossilize which was apparently never critting before I8.

A few comments to your build:
- Block of Ice: doesn't really need an EndRdx, a Hold or Rechg would be better.
- Gale: I never use it, so haven't added any slots to it. I don't think it takes ThT_Debuf anyway.
- Frostbite: useful for immobilising groups once you have Tornado and Lightning Storm. Careful before then since it will negate the kdown of Ice Slick. Given how low you are on damage, you might take Chilblain and slot for damage first, then switch to Frostbite later.
- Hover: Fly is all I would slot.
- Shiver: people tend to go for this or Arctic Air. Each one has its (dis)advantages. I might take it at 49 just because I don't need anything else, but it's probably overkill in terms of slows.
- Ice Slick: 3 Recharges!
- Health: not great for squishies since it won't prevent you from getting killed from burst damage.
- Flash Freeze: not a great fan of sleep powers, but OK if you plan to solo a lot.
- Hurricane: see slotting suggestion above.
- Glacier: wouldn't bother enhancing the Slow.
- Thunder Clap: low-mag disorient, so not that useful given all your control options. Something like Steamy Mist is much better imo.
- Jack: he's basically perma until you zone (or he dies), so I don't bother with recharges.
- O2 Boost: even though it's only a mini-heal, I find it useful for emergencies when teaming and to keep Jack alive, so you might want to take it earlier (or not).
- Epics: I'm quite happy with Ice atm, and depending on when the new changes come in (i.e. Containment for Ice Storm), might or might not switch to Primal for Power Boost.
Enjoy!
