Im kind of new too all this Controller Stuff, never rolled one before..Also its also to do with the fact i dont have enough power slots too get those extra moves, and i dont believe there as good as the ones ive chosen.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're happy with your power choices, then stick to them. The suggestions above come from people who've played extensively with these sets (and with controllers in general), but each person has their own playstyle. If you do ever want to see these powers in action, I'd be happy to team anytime on Union and show you (@Okton).

Earth/storm still the best

You mean, after Earth/TA, right? -

Does Detention Field work on the Heavies?

Sonic Cage does, so I assume DF works too. -

Could someone point out must have rad powers. I intended to take 4 Power Pool. Fighting, Stealth, Fitness and Fly. Maybe you think fighting is useless for a defender. But it's a concept thing. I won't planing to take any Ancilary Powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
The 3 debuffs (RI, EF, LR), AM, Radiant Aura (not a great heal, but better than nothing) and EM Pulse (best AoE hold). Mutation is nice if you team, but not essential. I don't like Choking Cloud that much given its accuracy and endurance cost. Skip Fallout. The Fighting Pool is OK for getting Tough (I assume that's why you want it? if it's for the attacks, stick to your secondary, "concept" permitting of course), but I would take Speed for Hasten instead of Concealment. Are you sure you want to skip the Epics though??? Power or Psychic Mastery would be much more useful than anything left to take after 40 from your primary/secondary/pools. -

Except God could actually squash those bugs.
[/ QUOTE ]
But then again, He couldn't. God is said to love everyone. Plus, bugs aren't evil. Are they?
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point. Although I heard God also loves dead bugs. And I'm sure some of them are rather evil.
In any case, earth/rad is indeed the uber-lockdown troller and very nasty in base raids. -

All this features combined with /Rad goodness, makes you feel like your playing G0D over bugs.

Except for the fact that you won't actually be able to kill anything without a team. :P

That applies for ice too tho
[/ QUOTE ]
And what about Jack's pwntastic Ice Bolt??? Oh... nevermind -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok in my honest opinion, i believe theres 2 main ways too play a Ice/Storm, Hold/KnockBack and Hold/Debuff
On my Ice/Storm im going for a Hold/Knockback combo missing out Artic Air, Shiver, Freezing Rain, Steamy Mist, Hurricane etc. These are too big a End Drainer for my liking and i believe as a controller your job is too hold/Crowd Control, and leave debuffing too defenders.
But thats how im going too play the game and thats what will best suit me.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a bit like playing a regen scrapper and skipping most of your secondaries hoping there's an empath around. Of course, you should play the game the way you like, but with good slotting (and Stamina), you should have no endurance problems running a couple of toggles like AA and Steamy Mist at once. I only use Hurricane (great ThT_Debuf) in certain situations, and usually switch off AA when I do. Likewise with Steamy Mist (I use it for stealth or against fire/cold/nrg damage). Shiver has a great -rechg (in addition to the movement slow) which will keep you alive much longer. If you really don't want most of the debuffs, at least take Freezing Rain. Really. Trust me.

Ahoy hoy,
I'd like to join Union Overlords with my new mind/kin controller Ipso Facto please. Who should I find in game for an invite?

Ask @Okton @Jiaozy @Inspector Frost
Look foreward to seeing you in the team!

The only real issue last week with the holding phase was the sudden shortage of Grav Controllers. If that one lone Singularity owner had disconnected, we'd have been in some trouble there.
[/ QUOTE ]
If Raz thinks we have enough rads, I'll gladly bring my grav troller to the next one (sonic bubble included). -
Raz,
Good points, a couple of comments:
- I don't think it's worth slotting a 4th Hold. IMO you'll get more from a 2nd Acc (yes, we do miss sometimes) or even better, a Rechg (even with all the AMs and some SBs going, it helps with stacking). I personally leave them at 2/2/2 which is my usual slotting.
- Power Boost gives a +186.3% buff for controllers at lvl 50 (your modifier is for blasters I think). -
Actually, if you plan to solo, ill/rad is even better imo, at least until you get to 38 (and even after that, in some situations). If you plan to duo a lot and do prefer /kin, I wouldn't take the medicine pool since you have Transfusion (self and team heal) as well as Increase Density. Likewise, as a /kin, you should take Hasten which is much more useful than the Fighting pool (Leadership is nice for Tactics, but that depends more on your build and playstyle).

[ QUOTE ]
I made a Ill/FF last night for soloing. Is it good for soloing? I thought Decieve + Phantom Army + PFF + Invisibility is a good combination for soloing.
Or in other words, can he be more succesfull than my FF/Psi defender in solo?
[/ QUOTE ]
He certainly will be, but FF is not the best set for soloing and really shines in teams. -
No because it's considered a pet. The only one I can think of which does (and only since very recently) is Ice Storm. It still does very nice damage when fully slotted, especially if there are other debuffs around like Freezing Rain.

If you're allowing exemps, I'll try to come by to the next one. If not, I'll have to wait for this to happen on Test.

Exemps are allowed, we just need to make somehow sure you wont have more than allowed insps.

Sure. Happy to pass on to one of the organisers all be the allowed number. -

Hm, the hero planner specifies 40% heal rate for unslotted Health and around 77% 3-slotted. Can you help me understand your numbers? If yours are the case, there is certainly no point to taking it on this character.
[/ QUOTE ]
Health (unslotted) provides a 40% boost to your default heal rate which gives you 5% HP back every 12 secs. So with Health (no enhances), this becomes 5% HP back every 8.6 secs (40% boost), and with 3 SOs, 5% HP back every 6.7 secs (78% boost). Switch the numbers around (to 10 secs) and you get what I quoted.
-
[ QUOTE ]
would 3slotting Health be a no no on this character, assuming it would boost recovery to around 77%?
edit: I wonder if it would be improved further by Power Boost.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you compare the % of your hit-points you recover in 10 secs, it looks something like this:
No Health: 4%
Health with 1 SO: 6%
Health with 3 SOs: 7%.
As you can see, 3-slotted Health won't save you if you're taking burst damage. It only helps a bit with downtime between fights (and provides a small sleep resistance). I usually prefer Hurdle/Swift on my squishies, especially if you ever plan to PvP. And Power Boost does not affect +regen powers like Health, only direct heals (like Aid Self). -
I'm with Sin on this one. On my thugs/dark (37) I skipped all the (crappy) blasts and Black Hole while taking the Fitness and Leadership pools as well as Hasten. Works like a charm!
-
Blue has said it all, but a couple of comments from my own (limited) experience with fire/dark (lvl 29).
- travel power: I took Hasten/SS which works great with Shadow Fall (makes pulling and ghosting easier). I find that the temp powers are enough for vertical movement (at least for now). If you do prefer CJ/SJ, I would try to squeeze Acro in there, but it might be tight.
- Aim: I respecced into this recently and find it very, very useful. Helps a lot with the herdin' n' burnin' and comes back quickly with Hasten. Probably more useful than Petrifying Gaze (which I might take later). I had to push Blaze back to 30 for this, but found it better to focus on the AoEs.
Enjoy the carnage! -

Weave? Um, why? it's like combat jumping but worse.

For jumping? Certainly!Anyway, couldn't think of anything else I would need at that stage, so thought some +def could always come in handy (and for that it's actually twice as good as CJ).
