Quote:My take on GG's insistence on the slowness of DA progress is that it is slowness on the next timescale, ie glacial or geological (I'd rate the current solo path at geological to cosmic timescales), otherwise why keep restating the duh-level obvious.I think EVERYONE here that has played the game for as long as I have (5yrs) understands the solo path is going to be slower than the larger trials and I don't think that is at issue with anyone posting here.
The gorilla is lessening the reward differences for logistical hurdles. Now isn't a good time for the new kid on the raid block to start increasing them especially on a game where that was antithetical to its philosophy of the six years previous. Yes, a lot of "elite" raiders whine that herding 15 extra people entitles them to better rewards but the gorilla is starting to listen to everyone else. If you like raiding 25 man, raid 25 man, since you know you've always said it was the challenge and not the loot you were after. (The fact that 20 people could be asleep at the keyboard in The Chore and still gets things done illustrates the awesome coordination required for large raids.) -
Quote:Just gather Max-1 of your closest friends (hard choices must be made), and poof, no problem. No it wouldn't.
Holidays are a time when friends and families spend time together doing things at private parties, semi private, as well as public events. The same feelings apply in game as in real life. So players should be allowed to host closed leagues for their private in game events. -
Quote:Disabling the closed league option for holiday events would be a good start. It doesn't - not by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it allows a maximum of 36 members and you can succeed with half that.
There's no MoLoW, nor can one person hose the attemp by not clicking the right thing at the right time, nor are there things to stand in. Holiday events don't need the closed option. -
DFB behavior has been showing signs of infection. I saw someone complaining that they had 5/8 and it was taking too long to get a DFB team going. Just. Freaking. Queue. People.

Raid or Die! Is the new hotness in CoH. Of course even the gorilla has been pushing it into the old and busted bin for awhile now with LFD (a TUT that works without needing preformed groups) and LFR (a TUT that works that works without needing preformed groups) and lockouts to discourage the "need" to run the X,Y, and Z man versions of the same raid on the same character each week.
-
After waiting, and giving up on, a 45 minute Lord of Winter queue, again, on Victory and hitting the first instanced mission in Atlas on a fresh character on Defiant before the DFB queue popped (with people spamming DFB teams), the TUT is a big fail for soloing and I thank the iTrials for that.
LoW shouldn't need a vetted handcrafted team to succeed, nor should DFB but no one will enter the damn queue in anything but a closed team.
Oh, and they were both 5 minute queues. -
Quote:Yes please. A million times yes. We're Incarnates and now we have to fight an invasion by Malta troops of a small town somewhere in the country. The Malta minions are GONE. They don't even spawn. The Malta minions are Hercules Titans and Gunslingers, the Malta lieutenants are Zeus Class Titans and the few bosses in the mission are Kronos Class Titans but in a boss class. ...
I can bet you dollars to doughnuts that if you send someone on a mission that's all Hercules and Zeus Titans - half a dozen of 'em per spawn, maybe even a dozen per spawn or more - that someone will be impressed.
...
I love smashing the warwalkers in Apex (especially as a freshly minted incarnate, no shifts at all). They were big bads and now we're sending them to the scrap heap in piles. -
Quote:What about Incarnates originally from Praetoria? The rocks are made of a rare ore found on Praetoria, Primalite. All beings from Primal Earth are highly vulnerable to them, Incarnate or no. The next trial will be us trying to shut down the mining operation that provided the civilian with this deadly weapon.

Staff fighting will be how the Battalion takes down our incarnates, duh.
Before Incarnating my WP Tanker could be knee deep in RPGs and Missiles and not see his health drop. Now that he's "stronger", rocks, from Hellion-fodder civvies, are a threat while the anti-tank missiles are just as weak as before, ON THE SAME MISSION. -
Quote:Balder (a god) was killed by mistletoe, so our incarnates should be afraid of twigs too. It's even been suggested that Goliath was Nephilim. So a demi-god being brought down by a rock is not unheard of.
Sticks and stones won't break a normal hero's bones but incarnates must run for cover. -
Quote:There's no crash aoe mezzes to upstage with a crashless version so it'd have to have some schtick to be better than anything controllers have.Given the way the Incarnate abilities have been so far, it's -highly- doubtful it'll have half recharge time. These things are all meant to be big impressive 'click and watch the fireworks' powers.
Ya, my elec blaster is still bitter. They only need to alternate conserve power and rise of the phoenix to make their nuke as nifty as the incarnate nuke. -
I'll second the high mag aoe mez, strictly better than a controller's aoe hold with overpower, probably a little less duration but with about half the recharge time and no accuracy penalty.
-
In that other game, the one with the Safety Dance and lots of things to stand in, drunk healers and tanks are the norm. Not the world first teams (on the world first attempts) but just about every raid that was in the gearing up phase. After a few months in The Chore it was either drink or go mad.

Quote:You must tell me where you are getting these extra slots for slotting range.Additionally, how many of your powers are slotted for range? Blasters do lousy damage - unless they put in damage enhancements. Complaining that your range is too short if you have no range enhancements is simply silly.
Even with a boat load of global accuracy I still want one accuracy in there, so five slots left for recharge and damage, each of which need at least 2 and want 3.
If I frankenslot triples and quads I might have a slot left but generally I frankenslot to get everything evenly slotted at the edge of the red ED band so those slots go to underslotted powers, not to range. -
Look up Ask versus Guess culture.
To a guesser a blind tell or invite from a stranger is overly presumptuous while a broadcast doesn't create any obligations. Even if the only obligation a tell creates is to reply it still is an unwanted obligation created by the sender. -
A broadcast isn't personal. A tell is a personal imposition.

Quote:A competent villain would assure there couldn't be a second attempt, especially one that can make rocks thrown by pedestrians take down demigods when there are people with anti-tank missiles just around the corner. But in the above "super team gets beaten to pulp" doesnt the team generally reform, come up with *another* plan, and then beat said enemy into pulp?
Seems like people dont want a 2nd attempt at anything
Considering that Tyrant has/had the capability to shut down the mediport with his warwalkers, strap some telepathists inside, port to Paragon, win.
I think the Praetorian storyline is well past the point of the setbacks by the time of the Incarnate content. Apex and Tinman were the turning points where we got to the "we *can* beat them back" point. -
Quote:I'm doing my part by not doing anything incarnate based with my two incarnates (a T3 Alpha and T1 Alpha, all built using the shard era system) until DA goes live, then if DA is good, I will continue using the incarnate system, if it is there solely to herd people into iTrials, I won't touch the incarnate system again outside of Ramiel's unlock and whatever WSTs I feel like running, if at all.If you want to actually change anything and be productive, things have to be taken up a couple notches.
If my data is mined I want it to show I *was* interested in incarnates, ran them under the shards system and stopped dead on iTrials. -
Quote:Devices just gets no respect. In the end, this thread isn't about changing traps specifically. Half the set definitely doesn't need buffs, it is already uber. That said, if the devs are willing to buff it, I will still be willing to play the set. But if more people start playing it, don't be shocked if it gets re-adjusted.

Unless those smaller groups are there because they can't tolerate the iTrials in the first place.

"Can anyone help me with X?" in broadcast, help, or a custom channel is one thing.
A blind invite or whisper from a stranger is another. First, it means I forgot to /hideall again. Second, it means I really don't want to help the pushy person with whatever it is they are having problems with.
If I wanted to form a team I'd have broadcasted that fact myself. If I wanted to be a on a team I'd have sent a response to their broadcast myself. If I wanted the responsibility of helping everyone I'd have flagged myself as a Helper.
