VIP here, mostly due to not having the permanent IO license yet and DA being the big decider. The ones working one the "endgame" are not good and easily enamored with out of date mechanics and design philosophies. If this was the age of the 3/4 overhead sprite mmo and eternal crack they'd be cutting edge and appropriate. Now, not so much.

CoH could do what they did for all those years because there wasn't an endgame. Now there is, and it is half-baked at best. Endgames are a go big or go home deal.

How else are they supposed to get their new shinies? Farm normal mobs for shards and convert them to threads? It's amazing what people will do for shinies, no matter how much they hate doing it (see any "endgame" for further examples).
  3. 1. The dysfunctional LFG tool, especially now that it's being used for other things, DfB and events. People dropping DfB if AVs won't spawn. Oh noes! My XP/sec is going down .1! Better make the LFG useless to everyone else to make sure that doesn't happen to me!

    2. Slideshowriffic. Before the cutscene skip if everyone had seen it it wasn't until my third BAF I knew there was a cutscene. Going from TFs and world events Destiny, Judgement, and Lore can't have made things any better with the frames-per-minute issue.

    3. Raiders and the "great" community they bring with them. I got into CoH to get away from them in that other game. Now that game is the pug friendly one and this one is getting the Mos Eisely vibe.

    4. Lost in a sea of supers. I'm the 10th one from the right on the third row.

    5. You gotta be super to beat up pedestrians. You go from smashing every AV in existence at once, solo, to smashing warwalkers in small groups to getting taken out by pebbles.

If that's from H.R. Puffnstuff googling Vroom Broom didn't turn it up until page 4. Anything past page 2 falls into obscure in my book.

Well that explains why checking that never seemed to help.

Never mind that using closed leagues and preforms in LFG defeats both the intent and purpose of LFG.

It's like saying just join up with the warlord if you want that food.

Just another failure of that system.
Even with four people the first run has gotten me to 9 or close to 9, the xp is just fine.

You have to make or be in a preformed group for DfB now. DfB. Not UG, MoM, TPN. DfB.

I'm half expecting iTrials to require vetted applications like raid guilds from that other game in the near future.
  9. I haven't done LFR yet but max level LFD queues are generally 10-15 minutes for DPS and DPS waits are caused by a lack of the other two roles, a problem LFG shouldn't have, lacking roles.

It's funny that the game that drove me to CoH because of the cliques and being at their mercy to do things is now way more pug friendly (hello LFR, suck it "elite" raiders) than CoH and CoH with its endgame trialers has driven me back to that which I had fled. For the same reasons. The circle is now complete.

Hopefully there's some server out there where LFG works the way it was intended, well, where the players let the LFG work the way it was intended. Inaction aside, the devs didn't break LFG, we, the players did.

  11. My biggest issue with brutes is that it really feels like I'm doing it wrong if it isn't a confirmed villain with the Frenzy power.

Cold starts on a non-villain brute really suck.

  13. I just wish at least A-merits bought you the built IO and not the recipe.

If updating non-IOs wasn't such a hassle I wouldn't touch WW aside from dumping salvage and recipes for 1 inf. If they put a "update all enhancements" button on the vendors that'd automatically buy the highest level version you can use of each enhancement you have and do the combining automatically the only IO's I'd use on most characters would be -kbs, stealths, and the like.

When has she sent heroes over?

When you have Praetorians going "Damn, these dudes are hardcore, arresting people with flamethrowers." and having a legitimate point your organization has issues.

I suspect there's a connection between preformed leagues and the queue being utterly worthless but I just can't put my finger on it.

Rain of fire is at level 6. Available down to 1. A natural 1 has one primary, one secondary, and one base slot in each. A 50 exemplared to 1 has three additional powers. With purples 45% global accuracy and recharge would be a conservative amount. Those bonuses are not scaled while exemplaring so actual contribution from slots is irrevelant.

While exemplared the 50 has a big shiny 1 next to their name but numerically they are fighting as a much higher level but they still get rewards.

Find a fire blaster with more purples than barney, exemp him down to a level where he has rain of fire as his highest level attack available. Now sit back and watch what more global accuracy and recharge than a character native of that level could even slot does to enemies of that level.

The people actually getting in were getting in fast enough to keep the wait time to 5 minutes, so it was preforms and closed leagues. Disable the closed option and make people solo queue and the random solo people would probably be getting in as well.

I *thought* I'd have a better shot at the Lord of Winter this year because of LFG but then apparently the raider mentality of only full preformed groups can complete anything in LFG kicked in. I'm hoping the devs will realize that for whatever reasons players are using LFG in almost the exact opposite way from how it was initially billed. People are only running DFB in full preforms for well's sake. DFB.
  21. Probably the best thing about this winter event wasn't in the game, it was in the store. Sorta bahumbug but being able to unlock halos for every current and future character was a win.

Not "needing" (come on people, just freaking queue) a mega-league for the two new badges is nice now that I've completely given up on the Lord of Winter badge after another 45 minutes in the queue (with a 5 min wait time).

So purples and pvp IOs keeping their bonuses all the way down to level 1 and SSK don't happen? People have leveled 1-50 in Praetoria, before FW, by doing 1-20 content exclusively.
  23. Got to fight Lord of Winter once on Victory, was in the league right after the queue popped, did not get badge credit. After a few 45 minute waits in queue (with 5 minute waits listed) with nothing popping gave up on getting that badge this year. I made the mistake last year of not doing it the first night it was available. Between finding people for a present team and having enough people to take down the LoW it would have been more productive to ask people if they wanted their teeth pulled without Novocain.

Found someone to do the new presents with, they had no clue what they were or how they worked until I explained what I knew of the new badges.

In summary, yay for preformed closed leagues, bestest idea ever for holiday events.

So a Master of version of a task force isn't more difficult than the default settings? It doesn't give better rewards than a regular TF, for the time or for the difficulty and the one extra it does give is completely superficial to gameplay.
