  1. You can follow either sets of instructions, but if you already have the standard CoH installed you can save yourself time and bandwidth by:
    1. Starting the CoH Beta download, and then immediately stopping it
    2. Delete whatever is in the cohBeta folder
    3. Copy the contents form your City of Heroes folder into the cohBeta folder
    4. Delete any checksum files in the cohBeta folder
    5. Run the NCLauncher again, and under City of Heroes Beta, right-click and select Repair

That should get you up and running faster without having to fownload the entire game again. It will just patch the files to whatever the Beta server is using, which should be much a much smaller download size.
  2. I heartily concur The unashamed use of every 3D gimmick in the book is above par for the course
  3. That's what I get for testing Titan Weapons sub level 10. Thanks for the FYI Snow Globe
  4. Thanks for the additional advice. After going through the animations tonight in the costume creator, I think I've narrowed it down to Willpower or Invulnerability.

I don't care for the animations of Super Reflexes for this theme, would rather stay away form Fiery Aura due to thematic reasons & excessive clicking, and am not too excited about Regen for the same reasons as Fiery Aura.

Thoughts between Willpower and Invul? I like the potential of Invul, but the self rez in WP is tempting...
  5. I was just glad to get runner-up. Never actually competed before (usually to schedule conflicts), and Obsidius isn't anything too fancy, but I wanted to see how he stacked up. Runner up was better than I expected

I must say that Cardshark put on one hell of a show in the arena though, and won Mr. Triumph deservedly

For retail boxes, you can apply multiple box codes to increase your VIP time (1 month for every different version, IIRC), but you can only every get one reward token from any box purchase. So, for example, if you bought CoH: Architect Edition and CoH: Going Rogue, you'd get two months of VIP time but only one reward token.
  7. His inability to even present his case is rather circumspect, as many point out.
  8. I've been talking about OuroPortal lately and was wondering what its order on the totem poll is. Obviously not a critical issue, just curious

Keep your guesses to yourself in the future.
It's hard understanding the problem without some sort of context. You can actually talk about your issue without directly quoting the GM responses you've been given; that shouldn't be a forum rule violation.

This. As for matters of griefing, you'll never get updated on those, as it becomes a matter between the GMs and the accused. The accuser is never left in the loop, and the player in question should have received a reply from the GM that explains as much. I get one of thses every time I submit a character name violation, so it shouldn't be any different for any other type of griefing or EULA violation.

In fact if you wanted to be picky about this it was probably "harder" to put Null the Gull into the game (from a software point of view) than it would have been to have simply added new options in the existing Options Menu.

No, they isolated these several options to Null the Gull to do just that - isolate them from the "normal" options because they still don't really actually want to accept these compromises as mainstream features. The Devs clearly fought the idea of giving us ways to avoid things like SB and Group Fly for years because people have been suggesting that forever. They only just recently decided to give us a way to do it via Null the Gull. But just because they reluctantly decided to give us options to do that doesn't mean they had to make those options easy to use or widely-obvious. Thus Null the Gull.

Once again it'd be nice if the Devs eventually accepted these options as legitimate and decided to put them in the Options Menu to make them easy to use. But frankly I'm not expecting that to happen anytime soon and, as I've explained, I understand why they did it the way they did. *shrugs*
Believe it. Or not. Conspiracy theories aren't my game these days
  12. I remember this happening with some copies from GameStop. You're not the only one who's seen it. Contact Amazon ASAP and explain the problem. They should allow you to return the item for the exact same title.

I'd love to see all IOs function this way. I've bought some of the resistance IOs. They work great. However, I don't like these being available only through the store.
I think this is one of my great cruxes also. I don't mind the "time vs. money" thing, but the ones bought via the Paragon Market are better than the ones in game. So what's the point of earning them in game, especially if it's going to be harder to mix and match between earned IOs and store-bought IOs? Is there something I'm missing?
  14. Would certainly make finding the "premium content" easier
  15. ... that the Holiday event will go live soon? Probably not until at least December, if precedent is followed.

Oh wait, Titan Weapons? I hope so
  16. I think Honda's intentions of making robots to help with hazardous conditions such as cleaning up nuclear disasters are good. Unfortunately, even with all the improvements they've made to Asimo, it still wouldn't be able to easily manuver through all the blast rubble in the reactors, nor does it have hardened enclosures to reduce radioactive interference in its CPU.

At the same time, we should develop EMP guns to take care of rogue robots (and those obnoxious cars with their subwoofers turned up to 11)

    The Blue Room

It's a darn shame they just don't turn the blue room into a social area, especially if it's still on the map and not being used at all. Just my 2 inf.

    RIP Joe Frazier

This news makes me a sad gargoyle
  19. Trench coats are exclusive to other Back Options like capes, wings, or backpacks. Make sure any other back options are NOT in use, and then you should be able to select Trench Coats from the Upper Torso section again.

However, planting an NPC with said options only requires the tools that were developed when AE came out, and are used to create the new mission content: easy.

And since all the programmers were tied up in this "Freedom" thing until just recently, we got Null The Gull. Now that Freedom is out, the company can think about revisiting the whole concept, but time will tell.

(None of this explains why Null hasn't been given the power to get rid of those #$%@# floating coins yet...)
That's the exact reason Null the Gull exists - to put the features out before having to wait for the UI team to address putting the features in the Option menu. I'm hoping for some serious overhauls with the UI (given Null and the Powers menu mentioned in another thread), but in the mean time, we can talk to the bird.

Trouble is, like others have mentioned, is that the vast majority of players (I daresay) don't even know Null exists. The only reason I knew about him was by reading the forums and then researching on ParagonWiki.

If he came up as a contact, it might be confusing to some players, but I'm sure many of them would figure out what his purpose was after a few seconds of reading (especially if some additional text was added in certain menus). That at least would make Null more useful in the interim; instead of needing to send all of your characters to Pocket D to talk to him, they could simply call him. Not quite an option menu setting, but still more convenient and far less time-consuming.

QFT. And after reading through the thread I'm unsurprised about the OP's supposed "quality of service". Personally, the GM team has always been courteous to me, even if the answer they gave me wasn't the one I was looking for, or if I happened to be short with them. And I've never had to kiss anyone's posterior to get answers.

    - 3 new Rare Melee DPS IO Enhancements (which will normally be found under the enhancements category sort by Melee and their respective max levels): Pulverizing Fisticuffs (10-25), Touch of Death (25-40) and Mako's Bite (30-50). Like our previous enhancement offerings, these Rare IOs cannot be boosted, are account bound and attuned and they will level with you, within their level ranges. We're going to be watching these items closely as they represent another convenience vs. time offering and we're interested in their reception. We'll let you know about pricing tomorrow, however this initial offering will be at 50% off of their normal price, both individually for those of you who like to mix and match for your builds and as a bundled set.
Not sure how I feel about this in particular...

It's a fair point, and I'd be RPing any set I took for a Secondary that isn't actual Stone Armor. But keep in mind that I don't want to play something too much like Stone Armor; even without GA, I'd like a different experience to keep things entertaining.

I think my only real hangups with SR are the toggle animations, but I might be able to get beyond that if it syncs well with TW. I'll have to go through the animations on a few of these sets when I have a chance (hopefully late night tonight).
