Well, since we're all pantless on Triumph anyhow, Pocket D ERP would be sorta meh. We're sorta desensitized at this point.
Textfighting, OTOH, is just plain weird. But we're already getting some practice in. KRM is quickly becoming Triumph's godmod. -
Welcome to Triumph! Please place your pantaloons in the supplied receptacle and enjoy your stay.

So... everyone's just going to be doing what we on Triumph do every day? How quaint
-
That's why WoW uses them; it's virtually impossible to break the cypher that generates the next OTP (One Time Password). Without the Username, Password, and OTP, one cannot log into the account, even if compromised by a keylogger, since the OTP changes for every login session.
Edit: My biggest problem with NCSoft's security is and has always been the restriction to alphanumeric characters. One could easily build a strong password using special characters such as $%@# and the like, but PlayNC Master Accounts won't let one use anything but alphanumeric characters - making brute force or dictionary attacks more effective, to a degree. -
When you say "Permanent Power", what do you mean? A crafted power via Invention Recipe & Salvage? Part of a Booster Pack?
Personally, I think it would be overpowered to give every character a self rez they can have all the time, especially one that rezzed one to full health as suggested. Certain ATs have self rezzes; others have Rez Other. There's a reason why this is a temp power - making it a permanent addition to all characters would reduce the usefulness of certain ATs, and cause certain powers to become "skippable" altogether. After all, why take Stygian Return, for example, when you have Renewal of Light?

I use the City Vault!
Wait... scratch that

Sounds like malware, or something a malicious browser tool is using to redirect certain DNS queries to other, less trusted destinations. Try downloading & running LavaSoft Ad-Aware or any other spyware/malware search program, as most vanilla antivirus programs won't pick these up.
And no, this isn't a CoH process. CoH only runs off of one process (cityofheroes.exe). -
I read this crap yesterday, and it's all just a bunch of unsubstantiated rumors AFAICT. New news, please.
-
-
AFAIR, Jack was responsible for those slips. As much as I rue Marketing for keeping an iron grip on new news, they've learned from hard mistakes and "Loose Lips" Emmert.
-
Just from a cursory point of view, AFAICT, Swift unslotted increases Run Speed by 0.35, or 35%. This certainly makes it worth slotting. Add in the fact that, AFAIK, Swift doesn't suffer from Travel Suppression, I'd say go for it.
Sprint improves Run Speed by 50% and also doesn't not suffer from Travel Suppression, so you would get more bang per Enhancement out of it, but it's a toggle that also uses Endurance (0.14625 / 0.5 secs), while Swift is Always On and costs no Endurance.
As you can see, there are pros and cons either way.
Edit: that's just for generic enhancements; not considering sets. -

Quote:Funny thing is, I played on an RP server in DAoC. And we still had none of these problems.
I RP as far as the game lets me. Anything after that is quibbling over "Cowboy & Indian" foolishness.
... Yeah, good luck with that Virtue. I'll be over here sipping on Jaeger. -
I blame Ross for the lack of info. And the rest of the Marketing Dept. So quick to keep info from players, so seemingly lax to let anything slip... or even advertise
I'm not really anxious, I just like bagging on Marketing people. -
Sounds good to me, as long as they don't push me away from using the tram as previously stated.

Quote:I know what they were working on... some vacation time. You know, the holiday break, visiting their families, etc. Some people actually take <gasp> two weeks or more to do such things. And not everyone is in the office at the same time, which can also slow down office work.I'm deeply sadened by the lack of updates/news over the past month. I know out of the last 4 weeks...something must have happened or you people must be working on something. And ... ok... take a week away from that for the holidays...that still leaves you with 3 weeks to do something and let us know whats going on.
Quote:Hows Going Rogue going..... I don't know why you feel you need to "surprise" us and not give any details whats going on with it or what will be in it. All that does is gives people high expectations brought on by gossip, rumor, and missinterpretation of interviews and if it doesn't turn out to be what we have peiced together and look forward to...thats just doing nothing but hurting the game by making other run to CO or STO leaving this game in ruin.
Suck it up!
That is all.
But seriously, gnawing at the bit is pretty non-constructive. Threatening to leave for another game because of impatience is just tacky and non-endearing. But if you do decide to leave, I'll have to ask the obligatory "Can I have your stuff" question.
Fallacies used by the OP:
Slippery Slope
Fallacy of Novelty

I believe we call this the "No Computer Left Behind" initiative. Catering to the lowest common denominator.
-
I hope that, since they're looking into vulnerabilities anyhow, they start letting us use non-alphanumeric characters for passwords. I have a really strong password I like to use that involves theses characters and can use it on other secure sites... but not for my main NCSoft account, for some bizarre reason.

Quote:I wonder which engineering Triumphant edited that write-up?And here is what I found on Paragon Wiki:
Quote:Triumph
Triumph was actually not one of the originally planned "live" servers. According to Jesse "Ghost Falcon" Caceres during the City of Heroes panel at Comic Con 2009, Triumph was originally an internal testing server that was re-purposed during the launch of City of Heroes to combat overpopulation of other servers. Unfortunately, this left the development team without an internal testing server for several months after launch, requiring several patches and Issue 1 to go to Live without proper QA. This also explains why there is one more server on the East Coast than on the West Coast. Like Liberty, Triumph has a reputation in the community as "unofficial friendly server". Because of its history of "Speedo Hami Raids", it has also become known as "the pantsless server."
>.>
Edit: nice try on that edit Karl. "Triumph is typically an awesome-population US server." Agreed!
Edit #2: For those still unaware, cityofheroes.wikia.com is NOT the current CoH wiki. Use paragonwiki.com or wiki.cohtitan.com. -
Good points. Forbin's screenie didn't really answer anything in regards to PlayNC.com specifically, and although I don't see any proof so far that anything is happening, that doesn't mean there might not be a problem... just one that's very hard to replicate. Still, there's no doubt that NCSoft is probably looking into any potential exploit on PlayNC.com, especially now that Massively.com is reporting on the rumor.
-
I think it's more likely that key loggers and gold buying sites are more likely culprits than PlayNC.com. They're probably looking for accounts that happen to use the same username/ password for their GW accounts as their PlayNC accounts. Once you have the info, it's not hard to do by hand, yet alone through an automated program.
-
So, is this affecting CoH players, or only GW players? Has CoH had to update their security or login procedures? I only ask because I only play CoH and not GW.
