"Stance emotes"? Perchance, a way to make our characters have a custom default stance?

AFAIR, the State of the Game address typically happens around the game's anniversary in April. At least that's when Posi likes to do them. In 2008, Lighthouse posted a State of the Game address in January, but it hasn't been done since.

Somebody thought that the news today would be GR-related.
Instead, it's the same V-Day event that has run for years.
This is why I've found alternative solutions for entertainment. Of course, school work and physical training help too -
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine!

I should be alright, although my right leg is still bothering me. I tried to break these new shoes in by running them into the ground, but I think I ran myself into the ground instead, especially since th shoes correct my pronation and my body is still adjusting to it, especially my dominant right leg.
But I did the exercise bike and elliptical last week instead of the treadmill, which has helped. I skipped Friday altogether to let myself rest and did upper body on Sat. I plan to do elliptical today and hit the treadmill by Firday at the latest, to ready myself for the race on Sunday.
One of my major problems has been blistering, but I finally convinced my wife to let me get some pairs of pricey but better-for-distance non-cotton socks.
More updates to come as the week progresses. -
Been pushing myself too hard and am having issues with the top of my right foot, either tendon or bone related. Going to do low-impact cardio tonight on the elliptical or bike instead.

Quote:For years, I have been a staunch supporter of City of Heroes. I joined up with friends back in June of 2004 and have been all over Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, and all the other weird places in-between. Ive pretty much seen it all.I think I'm with Silver Gale. After some barbs in the Mothership thread, I realized that it's probably time to take a break until GR beta so I can chill out. Heck, I might actually get some work done in the interim
I'll see you all then
And that was my problem Ive pretty much done everything in the game, with only a few exceptions. From story arcs to Hami raids to almost every TF and SF in the game, and even some PvP, Ive done almost all of it. And since 2008, theres not been a lot for me to explore, story-wise.
For my game play experience, content has always packed the most bang for the buck. And since Issue 12, I have been lacking much of anything to do. Sure, many great systems were put in place since then, such as leveling pacts and power customization, but Im still going through the same content that I was since May 2008.
Recently, I found myself biting at the bit for more information on GR. I found myself getting curmudgeonly well, more so than usual. And getting that way about a game (regardless of how much time Ive invested in it) just seemed silly. So I decided to take a hiatus.
Ive thought about leaving this game. In the past, many have said (to paraphrase) that if one is thinking about leaving the game because theres no new content, new content will probably not keep them from leaving anyhow. In the past, Ive agreed with them. Recently, Ive re-thought this idiom... and I still agree, although now Im seeing it from both perspectives.
In other words, Im not sure the GR will be the magic bullet to my personal MMO quagmire. It could be the best thing since sliced bread or I could be psyching myself up so much for it that anything released would be a letdown for my expectations. Even so, at the end of the day, GR is just another part of CoH. That can be both good and bad.
Ultimately, I decided that I need to diversify my interests instead of fixating on a single game as my sole source of MMO entertainment. I am therefore taking an indeterminable leave of absence.
In the past week or two, Ive found myself drawn to another game, and purchased a lifetime subscription, meaning I can play it as long as I want, as often as I want, without having to worry about a subscription. That's not an intended slam on CoX, but considering Ive spent almost $900 alone on subscriptions in CoX (double that for my wife, and not even including our box or booster purchases), I felt a lifetime sub was a good option. Plus, it leaves options open for the future, but Ill discuss those in a moment.
I have a lot of good memories of this game, from CuppaJo, Cricket, Lighthouse, Ex Libris, the closed betas to the avalanche of Kronos Titans in the Ski Chalet, gold titles during Valentines Day and the holidays, the Lighthouse Lounge, etc. Thats not to forget the real life events, like the first Meet & Greet Howies Game Shack in SoCal, to Milpitas, and the Inaugural Hero Con & the Lucky 13. Therefore, I have no regrets about giving this game my time and my money, as not only has it been a great source of entertainment, but also because Ive me many wonderful people both in and out of game, and had some really great times at the many events and cons Ive been to.
This is also not a permanent goodbye (and no, you cant have my stuff). A lifetime sub on another game means that I dont have to worry about two different subscriptions. Im still paid up until May for CoX, so I will almost certainly be seeing the GR beta test before my current subscription expires. I might also be online to play with my wife, if she needs the company. Well see where things go from there, and drop more money into subscriptions as necessary.
When and if I do return, it will probably be in a more casual state. Most of my SG mates left CoH over a year ago, right after the inaugural Hero Con, sadly. The SG will remain mostly private for my wife and I, although I think dugfromthearth might still be wandering around our halls on occasion, which is fine. Still, theres no longer a need to host a SG web page or anything fancy at this rate.
I know this post may sadden some, but I could not in good conscious leave the game for an indeterminable amount of time without letting my friends know where I had gone.
So after five and a half long years, I bid you adieu, at least for the moment. I wish War Witch, Positron, and the rest of the crew all the best of luck in GR and their future endeavors. To all my friends on the forums, although you may not see me, Ill still be checking in and watching, probably from the rooftops or deep space. Make sure to look up once in a while and wave.
With most sincere regards and deepest appreciation,

I decided not to use supplement since I had to buy new shoes anyhow. But I am back up to where I was before I got the new shoes, which is something in itself considering I'm still breaking them in. I plan to run another 8 tonight, and then hopefully 9 miles by Friday.
-
Well, I did 5 miles in the new shoes on Monday and 7 miles yesterday. Friday I'll do 8 miles and be back where I was before I had to get new shoes, and projecting to be running it at a faster pace. With only a little over two weeks left to the event, I need to progress to at least 10 miles before the event.
-
Well, I got some news shoes from Snail's Pace (a local running store) last Thursday. No more blisters on the ball of my foot... but they do correct for over-pronating, and eventually rub my instep raw. Was only able to do 3 miles on Friday before I got off the treadmill, right before I started blistering. Going to use some Glide tonight to see if it helps in breaking in these new shoes; otherwise I might buy some better socks.
And no, I wouldn't be turned off by toe socks, as long as they did the trick. -
I was having problems with my feet and ankles after Monday's 7.5M run. Wednesday, I started having problems at mile 4, but completed my 8 mile goal... but not without developing some large blisters on my right foot.
So I had to drop some money last night on a new pair of running shoes since my previous pair have apparently had it. Breaking them in today and running 8.5 miles tonight, with any luck.
Still need to get some No-Xplode. The running store didn't carry it, Sport Chalet doesn't carry supplements, and the vitamin store next door was out of stock. Plan to head to a Vitamin Store during lunch that will hopefully have some in stock so I can get with the program
Also, I'll be taking a break from the forums in general until GR goes beta, but I'll still be updating this thread since it's not game-related -

Quote:As much as I have bagged on the event, I came to this same conclusion this morning. Taking out ire against the Marketing Dept. on kindly community reps who are probably doing their best within the current confines of communication.I don't think I was hostile in VU2010, but I didn't lie and say I thought it was great. It was awesome that they tried to do something. When I think about it, we complain and make our dislike of how the marketing dept controls/dosen't share info, but they (community reps) are the ones who have to look at it. It was very cool that they tried to do something to change things up, as opposed to just saying effem.
On a whole my annoyance is directed at marketing, and any one who listened to, or went to hero con knows that they (marketing) are the ones who don't want to share.
So, Thanks to the community reps for trying.
Probably time to take a break from the forums for a bit, one non-game-related thread aside. I'll see you all when GR starts beta testing -

Can't have CO taking that category.

Quote:Well yeah... but it eventually became the Freedom server IIRC. Take that as you willAll this "special" Rikti invasion stuff has sounded like server-merge talk to me. After all, the last time a mothership showed up, the server on which it appeared shut down, right?

Quote:Triumph was supposedly "temporarily spared" as well. And no, I don't feel like ripping my toons out of their SGs/ VGs just for a 15 minute tromp on another server. Yes, it's more than what Euro players can do, but it's such a PITA to get back into a SG that's hardly populated these days by other playersUnfortunately you are correct. Hopefully we will still be able to join in - I'll be pissed if we don't.
-
Indeed. Not cool enough for the invasion with the new coat of paint

Quote:You make developing a Rikti Homeworld map sound so easyCan someone refresh my memory again about why we aren't taking the battle to the Rikti Homeworld?
Yeah, I know the garbage that the Freedom Phalanx has spewed in regards to this, but how many times are we going to let them attack the City before we put at stop to it at the source?
Let's make it clear that we are ready to take the battle to their Homeworld and see how much they like seeing their civilians attacked! -

West coast?
If this is more than a standard invasion, take some pics for those of us stuck at our 9-5s. -

Another optimistic post:

Of course. I knew I was missing something obvious
