Quote:Because it's impossible to spoof the originating email address, amirite?Except those are legit addresses for the e-mail and the URL.
They spoof the address and try to fool you into using their fraudlent link, that points to a page that looks like an Aion account page so you'll log into it and give them your account info.
The printed link https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/plaync_login.pl is probably hyperlinked to something completely different.
Demonstration:

If you don't pay attention to the actual page your browser is sent to, you're at risk. It's very sneaky. -
Wow! Just saw this thread David! Congratz!

Mmmmm... I wish I could just set down a few grand to build a killer rig
Not in the cards at the moment though.

Don't hold your breath for permanent costume jetpacks though
Those take decades to develop.

Quote:That's the correct file name, although I'm not sure it will fix the problem.Might you mean "texVWorld1.pigg"? I don't have a "texWorldV1.pigg" in my folder. (Just don't want to delete the wrong file.)
One could try deleting all of the texture files, but considering they make up the bulk of the game's data, you'd basically be re-downloading the majority of the game if you did that.
Try deleting TexVWorld1.pigg, TexVWorld2.pigg, and TexWorldSW.pigg. Yes, all three of them.

I plan on holding off for a little bit. Doing some research on my own, I came to the same conclusion as Father Xmas on the nVidia front. Problem is that the 260s are out of stock at NewEgg until the beginning of April anyhow (or maybe just not available at all until then, at the pricepoint / SKU presented). However, I do appreciate the insight on the ATI front, as more options certainly can't hurt.
Thank you all for your feedback and opinions -
The latter.
And no, I don't mind getting near the $200 mark, or maybe fudging the barrier a little, at least for S&H. -
Hey all,
I've been out of the loop for a bit in regards to video cards. I may start piecing together a new box soon, but I at least am looking for an upgrade to my current GeForce 8800GTS since I have some extra funds coming my way. Although I'm an nVidea fan, I'll give anything a go, as long as the price is somewhere between $100 - $200. -
I always liked the Big Oange Head video. Simple but fun.

Quote:Lamentably, I thought the same thing when I read that. "Hello, have you looked at the stickies in the Bases forums?"Also, the fact that she asked for suggestions, when we have had a couple of stickied, running threads for years, tells me she is .... out of touch.

Firstly: Suggestions & Ideas is over there >>>
Secondly: If people had the option to start out at 50, there's a good possibility that the lower-end game would suffer because of it, due to the lack of population & interest.
Thirdly: What's to do at 50? PvP and a few high-level TFs? Sue, you can always exemp down for lower-end stuff, but for what purpose? To get Influence and Merits for IO enhancements that would be mostly beneficial while leveling a character?
Actually, if you can tell me what the benefit of having a max-level toon is, I might be more inclined to agree. I just can't see the benefit.
Addendum: gold farmers hurt the game, it's true. But beating them to the punch in regards to NCSoft monetizing the problem with such a theoretical service is tantamount to saying "You can't cut my arm off! I'm going to do it myself!" Without the long-term appeal of leveling a character, there's little reason for many to play... especially if NCSoft starts encouraging the practice themselves. Why would anyone subscribe for months at a time when they can just get max level characters at the drop of a hat? -
Hmmm... when I get back into the game, I might have to try a setup like this in windowed mode.

During the filming of the zombie dance video, things turned tragically for the worst when craft services forgot to serve brains for the extras.

Quote:^ This ^Basic marketing gang.
DXP + I17 in one weekend brings interest to the game once.
DXP one weekend, then Issue 17 down the road equals interest to the game twice.
Drawing people to the game on two occasions instead of one blow-out seems like a better mid-term solution. -
Quote:I don't get it. What's wrong with Dr. Pepper?I have two thoughts since watching people run around with the Pistols.
1. Looks awesome if a bit flashy.
2. Can we at least pick better initials or short form name for the power set. Being the adult human that I am... those two letters keep pointing my mind towards the gutter. I can almost imagion the comments and puns that will be poping up.
Also, anyone running a DP Corr? What's the impression? -
It will probably happen before I start playing again
