Quote:Congrats.I didn't get any "free" rewards. What I did get were the two veterans reward badges that, by my calculations, I was owed. It's fascinating to me that the two times I submitted support tickets on this, I was told (both time) that the error was on my part, that they had recalculated my award eligibility dates, and that they were right and I was wrong. I guess they changed their minds eventually.

Quote:Except that the op was asking for a secret identity name... he was asking for another superhero name for when a character turns good/evil. For example, Captain Good becomes known as Captain Evil when he goes rogue, but can return to being Captain Good if he mends his ways. Similar mechanic, I suppose, but for a different purpose, and used in a different manner (going rogue/vigilante versus civilian outfit). You don't search the forums much I take it...
This is oft requested and sorry but an alias option has already been suggested:
04-05-2008, 04:19 PM - Several suggestions and how they could be done.
07-27-2009, 06:47 PM - Coolio's suggestions list...
Both mine and there are plenty of similar since... -
Quote:Speaking of which, the current in-game ad system has been out of use for some time. Are there any plans to re-use it? Sorry if this question has already been asked.In-game advertising is tricky. For every player who thinks it's cool, I'd bet there's a player who feels like it breaks the immersion for them. Even targeted advertising can be tricky. I have a friend who plays CoH who'd much rather see diaper ads vs computer ads. Just not interested in tech.
If we ever did it, we would make sure it works for everyone. I don't think any of you would like to see something haphazard, no matter how cool it could be.
Also, I've always been perplexed as to why the Hero Cons haven't been tapped for media coverage by the several MMO / gaming online magazines out there, Like TTH or MMORPG.com, or even G4. -
Might have something to do with the recently resolved NCSoft Store issues as well.

Taunt is a tool in the Tanker's toolbox. Some Tanks use it, some don't. As long as the Tank can keep the heat off of other teammates, either is acceptable.
Personally, as a slower Stone Tanker, Taunt is invaluable to me. -
********************* Survey Spoilers **************************
Quote:I also fealt this way when taking the survey. While taking the survey, I felt as if it want me to select the answers to which the bias was steering, which invalidates the purpose of a survey. It's too late to change the survey now, but in the future, you may want to consider the wording in order to eliminate bias as much as possible.Several questions are highly subjective in meaning, and others come across as leading. By the end I really started to feel like there was a bias toward games being too violent and too easy to acquire.
To add to my survey results, I feel that games, books, and movies should create an empathetic response in the audience. Any good story, regardless of medium, should. If a story involves cruelty to animals, for example, without doing anything with it, like driving character to action, it won'
t be a good story. Just like in other mediums, some games are built with only shock value and gimmicks; these games lack a good central story, and therefore aren't worth my entertainment dollars. In other words, a game can still have extreme content such as torture, murder, etc., as long as they are elements of a story, and not just the end-all-be-all to the game or story.
As far as violence related to graphics technology. No, not wholly. Really, it's a complete package of technology, including AI, procedural rendering, and processing capabilities of the gaming devices as well. -
Hmmm... would help if we knew what this bit of "new tech" was. Paragons Studios is still being a little Cryptic

So, can anyone else reproduce this with characters from different servers on the same team?
Aside: if so, wonder what will happen when to characters of the same name are invited to the same team... -
I'm pretty sure that's the desired effect, based on a hunch and clues from the devs that some new technology would help aleviate problems with teaming on low-pop servers. I'd test it again with different/ more toons from each server.

Quote:Funny thing is, I often forget which arcs have badges attached, so I still get surprised like this on occasionMinor thing, that's a bit of a huge spoiler, isn't it?
One of the best things about the closed Beta. I found this badge by accident when I ran the story for the first time. It was a really cool feeling, like playing a console game and suddenly earning a trophy or achievement. I doubt this will ever happen again due to the nature of MMO's and the community, and my own badge obsession. lol Not complaining, just saying I probably won't be pleasantly surprised like that again. -
Quote:Sounds like a gelcap for small doses, or perhaps ingested for larger ones. Supports the rave theory also.I believe there is also reference to dyne coming in a black pill form too.
edit: The wiki has this to say.
"The drug itself is described as a green liquid, and is distributed in small doses in elegant black capsules, to make it appealing to those who are always looking for the latest designer drug."

Thanks for the great video DR. Between the badges, new story arcs, and the stuff I've kept on the plate from the last few updates, I might start playing again before the GR release

Actually, when the STF was introduced, there was a strong argument to lock that TF in the same way as the LRSF (ie: have to get the "Statesman's Pal" badge to access it). Funny, seems like the devs are damned if they do, damned if they don't

I'd just assume start with a clean sheet. Get rid of all the baggage.

Quote:Ironically, my favorite motor oil is a beer. And at 10.5% ABV, who can blame me?Beer is for pansies and people who play Champions Online. I tend to stick with whiskeh with a chaser of motor oil. My life expectancy is 2 more years but I'm a badass mutha.
And I just realized _Sixy_ was back. WB!
Also, hai Karl -
Just tried it. It's the in-game model for Maelstrom. Cool thing is, if the image is the "base" of the character, you can move it around to see him from different angles.
Edit: NM, it's too touchy to get a whole rotation of the character. -
I saw the name of the thread and said to myself "Why isn't anyone using that for a PvP team name?" Seriously!
As to the OP, I think you might be reading too much into the changes, from an unbiased PoV. -
Issues 4, 5, and 6 were almost entirely dedicated to balancing, at least hero-side. And look how popular they were

First, Tech forums >>>
Second, sounds like a video card issue, like it's fried. When did you install it? When's the last time you blew out your computer with some compressed air? Do you know if the fan on your video card is still working?
The fact that you were in a Rikti Raid when it happened makes a good vase for some thermal damage to the video card. Not only are you talking about the client itself, but you're talking about one of the most GPU-taxing events in the game, where multiple Rikti are bing rendered at the same time as several heroes and villains, each using costume pieces with who-knows-how-many polygons and vertices being rendered simultaneously.
Also, just for reference, what other games can are you playing on your computer without incident? -
Quote:IMPO? Lately? Slow development cycles, and scarcity of new canon stories for the past 12+ months. These won't matter much for new players, but to keep veterans strung along, we need something new to do in-game. Hopefully, GR will take care of that, but the long development cycle it's been in hasn't helped the game, again IMPO.
What keeps CoX from being the TOP MMO? -
Testing of the new Pirate MM set was brought to a halt when Pirate MM thugs were found to under-perform in PvP compared to Ninja MM thugs (also pictured).
