Was fun. Would do again. Ran this at normal quality on my GF8800GTS. There was some framerate slowdown, but most of the lag I got was server side. Still, much better than last year IIRC

Quote:Unsurprised. It's happened in the past for issue launches, including the last issue IIRC. But if it's any consolation, it's up now, just in time to get an hour or two of pay in before the afternoonI pushed my whole schedule back to the afternoon, so I could have the morning free to play the new update. Now it looks like I'll be working while everyone else frolics. *sigh*

And for those about to rock (on the live servers), I salute you. Even after I'm done with work, I have copious amounts of homework on which I need to catch up

Quote:Here here! I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. How about "Can we get going with the overall base editor revamp that will give us more freedom and choices in general" while we're at it? I want hallways I can just drag a length for, not workshops or "secure corridors" in a non PVP base.
I want paper-thin walls. I really don't need ten feet of cement, steel, gravel, etc. between them.
I want rooms that touch at the corners.
I want to be able to place a room wherever I want in relation to another room, THEN select the doorway, not have a perfectly legitimate placement denied because of the "default" doorway being blocked (even if there's a spot 1-2 blocks down that's fine.)
I want to be able to convert a room "in place" to a larger version of the same, just paying the cost difference (which we do now, really.)
I want a holding area for crafted items (typically teleporters) when I have to delete a room and recreate it (usually because of the "larger version" actually.)
And I'm happy to throw "wider hallways" onto the list.
Need a "Base love" issue. >.> -
Quote:Sure, he may try to extort money from someone else, but he would have to at least go through the same legal process again, which is price, and unlikely given the company's currently shaky financial position (he may need the settlement just to stay afloat). Besides that, Blizzard and Sony aren't exactly easy targets, and other MMO developers could be too small to get any useful settlement from.I'm actually not sure how I feel about this news. I'm happy that it's no longer an issue, but frankly, by settling, hasn't NC tacitly said that this guy's suit has merit then? why did they not just go ahead and make this guy present his case in court, and then turn around and sue him for legal expenses? I realize that sometimes it's nice to make annoying little gnats go away, and in this case they might have done that. I just am slightly worried about NC giving ANYTHING to this turdburglar that might in any way legitimize his position.
Actually, it's better to settle with him for a marginal amount, than to take him to court and possibly loose, which creates a really bad legal precedent. -
Quote:Guess which game isn't WoW? All of them except WoW.How are you supposed to enjoy the event, when all you do is sit in a lag fest waiting so long for one power or two to fire off? I don't get how this is acceptable after all the issues that have been released. Why don't they fix the servers? In WoW you have fights against World Bosses and you don't get the lag, and there are hundreds of more players during those encounters. Why can't they fix the darn server issue to make this game more enjoyable?

Quote:I don't know HTML from XML (well, I can tell by looking at the code, but I don't know how to code from the ground up), but I can certainly write. Color me "interested ion contributing" if you are indeed going to have something within the next few weeks. It's very close. Seriously, we're talking soon, not Soon, probably an announcement within the next couple of weeks. If you're interested in helping out on the development side of things, drop me an e-mail at tonyv@cohtitan.com, or hit me up on Gtalk (same address) or on Skype (tonyv.paragonwiki). If you're interested in being a contributor, keep your eyes out!

IMPO, an external site is great, but if the original format wasn't working, working in a linear format that's copacetic with the current forums is certainly an alternative.
For example, every day LoT is posting articles he cuts & pastes from web sites. Most of them turn out alright. With a little formatting, such as centering, using QUOTE and CODE tags, etc., an acceptable format could be created for vBulletin. Certainly, the layout will be longer since creating two columns on a post doesn't seem feasible, and word wrapping around pictures probably won't work, but it certainly seems like an easier solution to creating an entire web site from the ground up, and a better solution than nothing at all.
That's just my 2 Inf. -

Quote:I vote "go for it", as long as it has a block option just like other applications for one's feed.I visited my Facebook today, and this is in my "wall" page:
Now, as a productive being of society, my brain is screaming "what a freakin' waste of time; yet another way for Facebook to be completely annoying".
But at the same time, my inner badge ***** is going: "gimme! gimme! gimme! I want to spam everybody every time I get a badge too!"
It's entirely possible to add such functionality to HeroStats, or even exporting a feed from City Info Terminal. But... should we have that functionality? What do you fellow players think?
Personally, I'd like the functionality as long as I can control what badges get posted on Facebook. I get about 30 badges every time I create a new character; I don't want to flood my page with all those. And exploration badges are too easy, I wouldn't care about posting those so much. But things like Master of X TF I would really like to show off.
And hey, it'd be good promotion for the game.
- Those who use Facebook and have friends who play CoH can follow along with their friends' accomplishments. There's nothing wrong with using Facebook.
- Those who use facebook and don't want to be bothered with it can simply use the Block function. There's nothing wrong with using Facebook.
- Those who don't want to use or don't like Facebook won't have to worry about it. There's nothing wrong with not using Facebook.

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
All right! Which one of you knuckleheads yelled, "Hey Kool Aid!"? -
Quote:I see your point. It's a damn shame, that base looked excellent. Heck, a few Ghouls would have made me feel right at homeThanks for that.
I scrapped the idea and the rest of the base pretty quickly though.
There was a nightclub leading off the other end of the station via the rest rooms.
Had a factory and sewers, a town square with an old cathedral and a warehouse and a theater.
Problem was more .. it feels lifeless and wears off quickly, it's a thematical thing.
We can't populate bases with NPCs .. or zombies ...
It might work for a level design, but for a base it's not homely enough.
Maybe if you can have exterior and also interior rooms attached to them.
That might work, but without doors, it is hard to make sensible transitions. -
I've been passing time in The Final Frontier. It's not very deep at the moment, but there are some good arcs and it's an interesting way to pass time, when I have the time between work and academics and socializing. Playing it is OK, but reading the QQing on the forums is getting rather old.
That being said, I hear there are some upcoming CoH events. I'm making a note of them. I still have to run Barracuda and Khan TFs as well. Might be time to start catching up soon. -
Wow, difficult decision... contest or Hami? Contest or Hami?

Quote:You're just a one-track pots and pans beater, aren't you? Just go around the forums mewling about the same tired issue... just file your bug reports and post about it once, on one forum, and move onto a different topic already.Given that both of the last two patches to go to test server has each broken the Ember Demon's Ember Shield power in yet more annoying and painful-to-play ways, this announcement gives me the fear. If you're going to make that deadline, internal QA really needs to stop dropping the ball.
Quote:And yeah, I'm pretty sure you typo'ed the link to the list of server-specific events. Not one of the company's better days. -
You're not the only one. I avoid iPods/ iPads// iStore/ iAnything because they typically end up being overblown by fan hype. Actually, I find it ironic that I am buying an iPad not for myself, but for a foreign friend who really wants one. I also don't want to be tied to one vendor for my media players and my media - I like choices. Besides, they already chaffed me by stealth-installing iTunes onto my computer when I installed Quicktime once. Just plain rude.
I avoided WoW due to crowds, and all the horror stories I heard since the game attracts the Lowest Common Denominators. You get them sometimes here too, but not in large packs. -

Being able to buy Vet Rewards defeats the purpose of Vet Rewards, IMO, by their very definition. -
Quote:Although I didn't meet my wife on CoH, we both ended up playing it after I bought my own copy and a close friend bought a copy for her (when we were dating) on her birthday. It was all downhill from thereI'd like to encourage any of you who met your current significant other in the game (whether they are your boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancee or now husband/wife) to post in this thread and share your story. We would really like to hear about it.
Congratz Pointless! -
Are you downloading fro scratch or updating a clone of your CoH files? The later, of course, works faster, if you still have CoH installed.

Before Ouro, it was the only way to get that badge if you missed it in the tutorial (or had a character that was around before Badges).

The "Stamina as an Inherent" argument (or variations such as this) have reoccurred for years, but the devs have continually stated that Fitness powers will never be given away. The power choices and slots spent on Fitness are the sacrifices a player can make to have characters with better Regeneration and Recovery. In other words, if you want the benefits, be prepared to pay the cost in a character's build.
Aside: Stygian Circle. My WS has never needed Stamina, at least on his primary build.
