  1. Exactly. OnLive is just a gaming proxy. Not really a benefit for those with high-end rigs, but their main angle is to have a slim client, probably connected to an HDTV and an Internet connection, using a gaming controller or mouse/ keyboard via USB. The main draw is that people can play high-end computer games without owning a high-end computer (because you'll be using theirs by remote).

I could see games like CoH using this tech to great advantage, especially for those who want the eye candy like Ultra Mode without puring hundreds our thousands of dollars into a new rig (or having to migrate their data from an old rig to a new one). I can't see any harm in allowing CoH to be used through this service, since Paragon Studions ?NCSoft would still be hosting the game servers, with OnLIve just hosting remote high-end client rigs.
  2. 2:00 - Why does Special Super Jump Guy have Purple Triangles like he's some sort of AV? Incarnate System perhaps?

I can't get an accurate answer out of Gamestop. The store manager says yes and if not they'll switch it over, the customer service dept. seems to think it doesn't as they said they haven't released promotion codes to the stores yet as they can't without an official release date.

I reserved a copy on 5/28 which is after the announcement for the promotion came out.
Yeah, reserving a copy will grant these perks. My good friend and off-and-on SG mate is a Gamestop manager, and I often go through him to get these Gamestop-related perks. Reserving a game from them should be all you need. I'm reserving two copies today through my friend.
  4. If I couldn't get my current name to be my red name, I would go with Infernal.
  5. A lot of good captions this week. Tough competition. Congrats Moonlight_NA
  6. How much do I have? Enough.
  7. If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.

Serge told the hero he could help by taking out some of the Clockwork's "minions" that were waiting right outside the door...
  8. The GR release date for Amazon.com hasn't changed... yet, at least. Could just mean that somebody needs to be updated on a release change. Hopefully not though... my next college semester is not looking fun, at least as far as the planning stage goes. Would like some play time before it starts.

My internal picture is almost the same, but slightly different. I'll have to draw it out sometime, but consider the Code box the "Multivese":

    Code:
    *** Etherworld *** | | | | | | | | Entropy | | | | | | | | v v v v v v v v Parallel Earths / Universes (each w/ their own planes of existence) | | | | | | | | Entropy | | | | | | | | v v v v v v v v *** Netherworld ***
In the case of Portal Corps, they are simply performing "brute force tunneling" between alternate universes, using specific dimensional coordinates (ie: knowing the exact location of a parallel universe in relation to our own). However, it would be theoretically possible to travel between parallel universes by going through the Etherworld or the Netherworld (since either connects to all universes), but since entropy (a function of time) is involved, there would be some serious quantum implications to hurdle. You'd essentially be messing with the fabric of all realities.

Well, that's one perspective on it anyhow.

    Both are excellent points.

But then...if they are all one earth in the netherworld that would mean all versions of Statesman are being powered by the same Zeus which I think is unlikely...
    **** SPOILERS ****

Well, we already know that the Rikti killed their gods, and that they're not aliens, but actually humans form another dimension. So it stands to reason that each dimension has its own deities... weather they are alternate versions of Zeus, Odin, Yahweh, Jesus, the Rikti Gods, the Great Old Ones, or what have you.

That's right... if you thought one Cthuluh was bad...

Let's say you have an onion. You clone that onion X amount of times, so you have X amount of the same identical onion.

Each onion represents a copy of Earth. You can call one onion Earth Prime, another can be called Preatorian Earth, etc. etc. So you have all of these identical onions with different names. We'll disregard the differences in people on these worlds for the time being.

Now, each identical onion has layers. You can call one layer the Physical Realm, another layer is the Psychic Plain, another layer is the Netherworld, another the Spirity Realm*, etc., etc. So each onion has these different layers, realms, quantum states, whatever you want to call them.

So yes, even though you have all of these alternate Earths, each one has different plains of existence, so to speak. So the Spirit Realm of Praetorian Earth or Warwolf Earth may be completely different than the Spirit Realm on Prime Earth. Sure, not seeing a ghost of a Praetorian PD cop in our spirit world could just be chalked up to programming, but more likely it's because his spirit resides in the Spirit Realm of Praetorian Earth.

But just like the Physical Plain, there may be ways to connect the other layers of each onion to the same layer of other onions, and travel between the the different plains of existence between each world.

    * Technically Croaotoa is in the Spirit Realm (AFAIR)
  13. Agreed. It's not like we're selling a ton of boxes at the moment. And new players only have to pay $20 to join. Obviously, box sales will go up in July, but I doubt that only a third of the current total is from subscriptions. It is probably at least half, if not two thirds at the moment.

  16. As long as it doesn't count for the 5th location this year, more power to ya Bay Area peeps Sounds like an easy decision with little overhead and a readily available audience
  17. My crab spider is named Hunting Machine, but that's because he's a robotic prototype to replace weak human Arachnos soldiers. YMMV.
  18. Make sure that heat sink is dust bunny free too. Overheating cards can shut down and do other weird things, eventually becoming permanently damaged.
  19. Speaking for my main villain Iron Reign:
    1. What motivates them?
Revenge, plain and simple. Revenge against the Malta for burning him. Figuratively and literally.
    2. Is it money? Power? Or something less granular?
No, just revenge. Notoriety, money, and power were just side effects.
    3. What are his beliefs?
He's a nihilist; he doesn't believe in anything, except himself.
    4. Do they consider themselves "evil"?
More like "morally ambiguous." The ends justify the means.
    5. Are they connected to your hero in some way?
Not at all, except that he's a "villain" of the Rogue Isles, as are many others.
As for the Supreme Villain of the CoX universe? Lord Recluse is up there, but his overly-complex mechanizations have too many points of failure, like the Web for instance, or Project DESTINY, and are therefor his downfall.

I have to go with Mender Silos. Is he Lord Nemesis? Maybe, but if he is, he's certainly learned that the only thing more devious than "plans within plans" are" plans within plans with the face value of complete sincerity about the welfare of mankind and the future (and past)". If anything, Mender Silos could very well be Lord Nemesis Enhanced. Steam suits are great for intimdation, but a nice warm smile and a handshake make it a lot easier to insert that dagger in one's back.
  20. Remember that you'll need beacons for it too. CaptA's guide covers that too.
  21. Aside: I wasn't aware that the name "Gilgamesh" was available again (he used to be a red name in days long past), but that's a different topic altogether.

Edit: Ah, because it got changed to Gilgamesh_NA and Gilgamesh_EU when we moved forums, of course.

  24. Regulator Hall, the home of the Paragon Regulators, is actually the abandoned cathedral in Dark Astoria, retaken and renovated over time by its members. The mystical gargoyles that adorn the interior also keep out the Banished Pantheon and the other evils that have taken over Dark Astoria. It's the only place in Dark Astoria that's completely safe (besides the Hospital), which is why it's only accessible through the base portal system.

I hope those that go have fun at the events!
We'll miss you Killbot. I'll have a drink in honor of you and all the other players overseas. They might have to carry me back to the hotel
