As much as I bagged on the online store yesterday (not that I don't stand by my points towards improving how things work in the background), I want to thank everyone who got the store back in working order. My wife will be pleased

Quote:Well, just to be fair, your conjecture is based on as many facts as mine!Who says the online store is overloaded?
What if there was some goofy, obscure code error in there someplace that was causing the server to run amok, eat money, and poop in everyone's left shoe (unless it was an Air Jordan)?
There HAVE been several EXTENSIVE maintenances on ALL of the servers in the past few weeks in prep for this. Unfortunately, Uncle Murphy is law unto himself.
So cut them some slack.
Does it suck? Sure!
Will it be fixed? Sure!
Was this intentional or through malfeasance or laziness? HELL NO!
Also, in that maintenance cycle, they seem to have missed a spot
(And I never called them lazy, that's just you shoveling words in my mouth, ya big lug!)
Thanks everyone, don't forget to tip your waitress!

More like "rental slots" if you ask me, am I right?

Supposedly the store will be fixed in 1-2 hours.
Me? Not holding my breath -
Quote:Don't mistake my curmudgeonly criticism for moaning. Moaning would indicate that "I'm all emo" over this, when in fact... well, see my locationQuit your moaning, everyone. Every game has problems when a major update/expansion is issued. It's a glitch that will be corrected! Patience, patience, and more patience.... there will be plenty of time to play the new content.

for details.
I think the situation is funny, in a sad "net opps totally didn't see this coming" sort of way -
Quote:Oh SNAP!Nooo, NOBODY saw this coming.

Quote:Exactly. Slots cannot be removed once claimed, and cannot be transfered to other servers once claimed. Yet, they're still tied to the online store even after purchase. This seems like a fundamental design flaw IMPO, one I feel should have been corrected some time ago when we first saw this happen when the Online Store went offline.Extra slots we have unlocked should be untied from the store
<Insert obligatory Offline Store joke here>
I mean, it's not like I lose my character's new name when I purchase a rename and the Online Store goes offline after the fact, right? -
Not to be overly critical, but with the foreseen popularity of the game with the launch of Going Rogue (as indicated by the recent forum cleanup), wouldn't it have been a forethought, in addition to the free character transfer service on top of the release of a major expansion, that bolstering of the online store may have been a necessary step before launch day?
I just don't see how this slipped by the development or net opps teams.
I also always thought the implementation of purchasing characters slots (as a dependent symbiotic relationship between the online store and the database server) was poor - but perhaps there wasn't a better way to do it?
Edit: I would hate to suggest it, but perhaps there needs to be a way to prevent the "freename" exploit that goes along with free transfers. Not sure how much it hammers the online store, but suspect that two transfers per character (x) number of character (x) number of players is probably detrimental the load of the online store. -
Read here. No one will be able to access anything beyond the initial 12 slots until the store comes back up. Sad, but true :/
-
You aren't. The storyline is meh, some characters are just graphed on, and the wirework is atrocious. Let's not even talk about what they did to Deadpool.
-
You won't get the special IOs or the mouse pad, but there's always the NCStore option. Sorry to hear about this dickery.

She did not use "the next level"
That being said, congratulations on a job well done! -
Picking up my boxes tonight after classes! <squees>

Agreed. Store is a big deal for many players, especially those over their initial twelve slots on a server (to include my wife). Hoping that store stability gets settled and rectified soon. I won't need it personally until tonight, but many players are currently stuck with slots they cannot use and name placeholders that have been deleted for characters that cannot be created due to those stuck slots (meaning that camped name is now up for grabs by anyone).

I support not only more APP variety (especially since villains can now utilize them, further increasing their utility) but also Power Customization for APPs (no small task, but another thing that would increase their ability to fit a character's theme).

Oh wait, they're not!
Do people like to watch crap? That's subjective. Personally, I'm not biased towards either film (not itching to see either, but wouldn't turn down a ticket for either). -

Quote:AFIAK, no (although I've been incorrect as of lateWell, nuts. Aren't we supposed to get more Character Slots with this? Ive used all my spare slots already, so I can't make anyone new right now without giving someone the axe...
). You get to free transfer tokens along with GR (in addition to the free transfer period during GR), but no extra character slots per server.

Not unless you bought The Complete Colection (in stores tomorrow) or the Items Pack (on the NCStore tomorrow).

Quote:I'm happy to eat my own words, just sort of irritated that I can't enjoy the festivities because I chose to patronize my friend's GameStop store instead of pre-purchasing online :/ Not that I'd be able to enjoy it much tonight due to the new semester starting, but still would have been nice.*Hands out some crow and mustard for all the "Don't get your hopes up" sticks in the mud who insisted Going Rogue was not coming a day early*
Meh, electronic pre-orders get a day early, retail pre-orders get some spiffy IOs and a mousing surface. Guess it all works out.
