/futurama Approved for all audiences!
A shame this feature wasn't around before we had to move from the original Triumph Watch, but I digress. A channel as popular as TW 2.0 needs a timeout. Not too big of a deal to get re-invited either, if you do happen to drop off. -
I'd agree that it's looking more and more like a War Witch Task Force, some that Mellisa has been talking about as a "wish list" item for a while. But with the edition of this second cover, a revamped Baumton or revamped New Player Experience for "classic" CoH and CoV might also be in the mix.

I think the whole comic tease alludes to something new in CoH. In the Comic, Horus is in trouble with Crey for illegally entering their lab and blowing it up (after they used a painful Memory Machine on him to see what he knew, of course).
When Crey tracks Horus to Apex and War Witch's apartment, they have to defend themselves form Paragon Protectors, who supposedly have legal authority to take them in for questioning.
The story itself has nothing to do with Boomtown. The cover seems to be just an exaggeration of the destruction that happens in the issue (inside the apartment). However, if the clue is based solely on the cover art, it might be the cover that resembles Boomtown most closely.
Possible allusions:- some new/ revamped CoH / CoV story arcs with moral decisions
- Player apartments (and possible base revamp)
- Base defense mechanism (against NPCs)
- The "return" of Apex and Horus to CoH (even though their characters have never existed in-game before)
- Some new red names taking up the mantles of Apex and Horus
- BAB gets moved to Atlas Park (a play on an inaccuracy in the comic
)
Edit: besides... why choose Blue King Issue 11 specifically? It must have something to do with the story therein... -
I wonder how many current subs CoH would loose if there were a F2P version... guess it would depend on how much one could do in a F2P version. Don't make it appealing enough, and few people will use it. Make it too appealing, Paragon Studios could be cutting themselves off at the knees.

I found this thread to be an informative, good read
I actually understood it!

One fof the most memorable names was a character on Triumph called Very Mad Cow, who was a bovine that got mutated and psychologically disturbed when his owner fed him a bad person (like Mad Cow disease, but in reverse). His battle cry was "MOOOooOooOOOO Damnit!!!!"

Quote:Actually, I ended up reading that to myself like Clarkson too. Perhaps it's just the theme of the thread.Good news, everyone! I've invented a machine that makes people read sentences in the voice of those typically saying the first three words!
Speaking of the subject of the thread... bollocks. I certainly hope that Top Gear finds a replacement, because I don't see Mr. Collins keeping his current job after fighting his employers in court. Hope the book deal was worth it :/ -
Quote:In a day and age where broadcast networks are asking the Emmys to have two different award ceremonies (one for broadcast networks and the other for cable TV) because their shows win far fewer awards then cable TV shows, I think Conan has a good chance, actuallyI hope he makes it. The odds are not in his favor, but he's always been one of my favorite hosts. Not that I get TBS and could watch.

IMPO, all the "Hazard Zones" could use some serious retooling to give them more functionality and versatility, whether that means:
- making some of them cross-faction (like the RWZ and the Shard zones proposals suggested by many players)
- adding zone events (RWZ)
- adding story arcs to the zones (Faultline and RWZ)
- revamping zone look and geometry (Faultline and RWZ)
- a combination of any of the above
- new tech I haven't even thought of (construction wars in Brickstown, for example)

Quote:Your'll need to go bk to being a full villain at 40 and run through the PP arcs inorder to unlock the Patron Powers.
However u only need to complete the first part of the arc inorder to unlock them
(arc completes when u get a badge and respec)
All true. And even if you go hero again, you will still have access to Patron Powers forever on that character, because you've earned them.
Heat Mastery is not a Patron Power, it's a standard Ancillary Power Pool tht every 41+ character receives. You'd only have to worry abou Patron Powers if you want something like Soul Storm, Spirit Sharks, Arachnos Mace powers, etc. -
Wow, I asked Support this very question last week and got the exact opposite answer. Unfortunately, I was betting that they were wrong after reading so many threads on the problem with Praetorian characters not being able to unlock them

Quote:It's true that some thugs are generated from costume parts and some are specific models (bots and necro, for example). As someone who's "talked with the game swine", I can attest to this.Spectral demons.
I don't buy the argument that these are minions from a file -- consider the random appearance of thugs. Clearly, every time I see a thugs MM, I'm getting given costume information for the thugs, somewhat customized -- arsonist always has fire pants, it seems.
However, the script for MMs is something completely different. For example, the script may call for pant style X, and when a thug is upgraded, it gets swapped out for pant style Y. I think this would be the hardest thing to customize - not only the appearance of thugs, but even more so, the appearance of upgraded thugs. -

When the Batman franchise hits a Latin American country, or Spain for that matter, will we see a Bat Manuel?

Agreed. It's probably not network lag. Is your HDD running when you go into Praetoria? If so, it's probably lag caused by disk caching.
- Buying more RAM can help (computer will need to swap less between RAM and the HDD) , but if you have only a 32-bit OS, you can only use up to 3.2 GBs.
- If your mobo supports 3Gb/s SATA interface, that's also an option (faster seek/ retrieve times reduce HDD lag).
- Otherwise, don't use Ultra Mode - this will reduce the amount of textures required when you travel.
Hope this helps. -
Well, at least I'm sort of comforted that we're not the only one with this problem. Here is one other post on the topic, and another.
-
Because, in their infinite wisdom, the devs disabled 3D Sound in I18 for Windows Vista and Windows 7. The disabled the DS3D component for these OSs without an OpenAL replacement. You have to us ALchemy for 3D Sound to work.
Good luck with that. -
Quote:That's a common fallacy. There's certainly nothing that keeps male characters from dressing as pimps, female characters from "pimping out" mercenaries, etc. Nothing except for GM Moderation that is. Why would one method of making sexual content be any less actionable than others? As it's been mentioned before, the devs won't give us that for one simple reason:
Pimp MMs.
You think I'm kidding? With the Magic pack, how many new MMs would you see with a pimp theme and nothing but women for pets? :/
Dumb people are why we can't have nice things.
The actual reason this hasn't happened yet is because there are several technical hurdles that would need to be overcome. Sure, one can change the colors of certain NPC models in the Mission Architect, but:
- Would color customization in itself be enough?
- Would players also want to customize limbs and other costume parts? (Costume customization)
- How do we alter certain costume parts to work with certain skeletons (like MM Robot skeletons)? (Costume customization vs. non-standard skeletons)
- What sort of avatar pieces are allowed for Mercenary MMs? For Robot MMs? (Restricting parts for powerset them)
- What if I wanted to make all my robots look like fembots? What if I wanted to put my mercs in robot disguises? (players upset about "artificial costume restrictions")
- What if I want my bots to fire lasers from their eyes instead of their arms? (power customization on top of costume customization)
- What sor tof costume or effects happen when a thug is upgraded (power custimzation that is flexible with costume custumization which may or may not be locked into specific costume parts (see above))
- How do custom critters get saved, and how will other players see those same custom critters? (Database impact, server impact, impact on other clients)
Those are just a few of the technical problems I can think of off the top of my head. Certainly, some bits of existing tech can be used, but others, like getting certain costume bits to work with some pet skeletons and deciding which pieces can/ can't be used for certain MM primaries, are a bit more challenging.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, would love to see this too, but it might be tough to get into the game. -
Recently, I got my first "smart phone", the HTC Incredible. It's not so much a phone as a mobile device though. It's a great gadget; the only quirky thing is the touch keyboard, but I've already become used to its nuances.
Firstly, I cut my land line leash years ago, back when Palm was first coming out with flip phones and Blackberries were the only real smart phone platform. Most of those devices appealed more the corporate suits, since they sync'd with email servers. I just had a regular old Ericson brick phone.
A lot's changed since then. I went through some flip phones, and now I have an Android phone. As a casual guy, I can use my mobile device to look up directions on the fly and get navigation (no more wimping out on friends because "I don't know how to get there"). I can compare in-store prices with what's online (or to see how much someone is trying to rake me over for). I can take a picture and share it on Facebook (if you're into the social networking thing). I can let friends know where I am if I do something spontaneous. I can look up information on the web if I need to (what's the museum's hours and phone number?)
Does it cost me more than a landline or basic cell phone? Sure. But that's the price I pay for mobility, a data plan, and having Internet access at my fingertips - more than I could do with Plain Old Telephone Service.
But overall, I agree with Quantum_Knight:
Quote:Edit: as far as Motorola Droids go, I'm not sure about the interface. Personally, I've come to enjoy my HTC phone because of HTC Sense, but it might depend on how much social networking you do.Do I really need it? No.
Is it fun to have and useful in it's own right? Hell yes.
It's never going to replace my pc, but it works for when I want to check scores, or look up a restaurant, or what have you.
It's a gadget, plain and simple, and only you can justify whether the expense is warranted.
