Quote:Well sure, but just because I'm a vet doesn't mean that lvl 50 characters sprout from my head fully formed like Zeus or somethingI think it is funny that the three people who responded as taking the axe are all 2004 vets who probably can make up the attacks elsewhere.
For my lowbie characters, I'll more likely take the axe and ranged attack characters, but once they reach a certain point where the power tray starts filling up, then sure, I'll probably ditch the axe. But that's the great thing about those powers - they help make leveling lowbies easier -
Quote:I've considered this angle... then considered the Party Pack. The amount of feedback since the Party Pack announcement has been astounding, but astounding feedback to a stone wall is a bit fruitless. Its seems as if they'll be pushing it out without even responding to feedback at all, yet alone reacting to it.I'm betting one reason you're not seeing much in the way of Community Surveys or the like is because they've already gathered enough information from past queries to keep themselves busy for quite a while. Why keep asking about future requests when you've already got more than enough on the plate right now? When the wish list reaches a certain level of completeness, they'll start up the surveys again.
IMPO, it seems like they could have used a survey to figure out what should be in the next pack, given what's been announced and the reception it's received. -
While I was adding to the OP, I remembered another point I wanted to mention:
In my personal opinion, it seems as if the forums (including important things like patch notes) seems like they're becoming less community-oriented and more like Marketing Tools. That's not necessarily a bad thing, when the balance is right, but I have to take into account two personal experiences that happened around the launch of Issue 18, which was obviously a big Marketing goal:
- The CHCV debacle - enough has been said on this subject to fill an entire book, but IMPO, there was a lot of cleanup in order to make the forums more presentable to the general public, as well as eliminating discussion of competing video game product, both of which obviously have huge Marketing implications.
- 3D Sound and Win Vista/ Win 7 - Support for DS3D was removed for these to OSs for Issue 18 (without an OpenAL replacement), but not documented anywhere on the official patch notes (Support directed me to Zombie Man's guide as the official documentation). Obviously, including things like this might take away form all the shine of Issue 18, so I have to wonder if this omission was intentional. Even weeks after I mentioned it to Support, the official I18 Patch Notes and Known Issues still do not mention this change.
I understand that Marketing is important to draw new blood into the game... but should it be at the cost of the contentment of existing players? It was this question that almost caused me to hang up my cape after six years as a loyal customer. It was guys like David Nakayama and Matt Miller who made me reconsider, fortunately. - The CHCV debacle - enough has been said on this subject to fill an entire book, but IMPO, there was a lot of cleanup in order to make the forums more presentable to the general public, as well as eliminating discussion of competing video game product, both of which obviously have huge Marketing implications.

Yeah, when I did this mission (maybe more than a year ago), Nosferatu wasn't easy to defeat. This can't be WAI.

Quote:That's a good point, and I'm sorry for forgetting to mention the former EU Community Reps in my list in the OP. Before the forum merge, a lot of us in the US kept tabs on the EU Community Reps (especially since event announcements typically happened on the EU forums before they did on the US forums), so we got a good impression of them too.I agree.
Coming from the EU where we had outstanding and responsive OCRs in the forms of Brdger, Kerensky and Ghost Raptor, we now have cold efficiency at best.
Edit: rectified the problem with the OP -

It's come in quite handy for some of my low-level villains. There are a lot of early missions that involve Nerva spectres and Spectral Demon Lords. Some yellows and the Ghost Slaying Axe can go long way. Just wished it worked on Diabolique
-
Heh, the only way I was able to defeat him with my DP Corr was with a Jet Pack I picked up as a recipe.
Fortunately, you don't have to beat him all the way down. -
Yeah, probably reading off of your "Likes" from your Facebook profile, nothing more.

In a lot of the Praetoria missions, the Reveal power will cause characters to loose connection in a map (presumably only the character that casts it).
This problem is more serious when solo, as the disconnection lasts quite some time without manually logging out to the login screen or desktop, and almost always causes the map to reset in the process. This means that a character will need to repeat the entire mission, even if they use the Reveal power near the end of the mission (to check for missing objectives, etc.).
In the grand scheme of things, it's not an urgent issue, but it is sort of irksome to have a vet reward power that cannot be used without risk of loosing mission progress. -

I was just making a bad pun, but I see what you're talking about now

Quote:Thanks. The whole "Party Pack Promoter" title brings to mind something I just posted about yesterday: Marketing telling us what we should want instead of asking us what we do want. Just seems like an extension of what was a grand time at a party turning into a cattle prodding towards the cash registerWell now that's just funny. If only it turned into Party Pack Betrayer when you switch sides LOL

Quote:GL with your mensies. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have them for so long, especially a guy.damn >:O
i don't even need to say anything. its pretty self explanatory how utterly stupid this is. along with the loldanceparty
BTW, I'll be entering this contest, just need to get some writing done. -
It will have jet pac...s..s.s..s.ssshahahahahaha!!!
I'm sorry, I couldn't say that with a straight face -
Just remember, it's "down the road, not across the street."

Sounds like something in the STF in the Thorn Tree mission, but I support the idea to propagate it to more missions, especially finales or more epic encounters.
-
I want to attend because it will be a party...
... and I want to abstain because attendance would sort of imply that I support the new Party Pack, which I kind of don't...
... bugger.
... Wait, I won't be home in time anyhow (full-time worker on PDT). Guess that makes my decision fairly simple -
Quote:Well, SGs have been around since launch, but Prestige and Bases arrived with CoV. But yeah, I bet they had to mod the code for hero/ villain flags in regards to valid SG invites. The code probably hasn't been touched much in the 5-6 years since thenWell, since CoV was launched.
But ya, I think you might be right.
Quote:I believe this is forth coming and soon we will be able to switch toons/Alts without having to log out as well . Maybe issue 19 or not to long after that I would imagine . -
Quote:That's exactly how I feel, so I'll toss my vote towards "Option #1".Anything's possible with enough dev time allocated, but my gut feeling is that almost everyone would prefer the look of 'new tights' and that 'classic tights' would gather dust. The goal would be to polish up the assets you already know and love, so they essentially look the same...but better.
Also, I still feel that this introduces unnecessary clutter into the system, reduces new user-friendliness, and ultimately hurts the game experience.
Continue to rock on Davidand tell Jay we miss him 'round these parts
Edit: I also agree with the caveat presented in the below post. -
Come to think of it, you know who hasn't posted in a geological era? Sexy Jay. Obviously not OCR related, but still, that guy has only posted once since we migrated to the new forums over a year ago. Heck, it's been so long I can't even remember his forum handle any more. I miss Jay
