Quote:dug!I knew some dark spirit was calling Living Ancestor and Tomb Fisted Kid back to the city.
Congratulations Obsidius and Rella on the non-combat pet.
Are the Regulators back up and running?
The Regulators are active; that is to say, people are in and out of it. I think Fox is back, along with Shroud Knight and some other folks. So a very casual SG though. Between work, school and the new baby, I haven't been on in a week or two due to the baby. Waiting until his routine evens out until I go online more. That and waiting to see how I21 launches -
The lost potential for the AE ranks up there with bases, IMHO. They should take notes from the Foundry.

Don't waste my time with cinematic trailers; anyone can make a great cinematic trailer and have a crap game.
Show me the gameplay. SHOW ME THE GAMEPLAY! -
Quote:That's a straw man of sorts. Incarnate stuff was always designed around end game, trial heavy content (with the exception of the story arc that introduces the Alpha Slot). No illusions were made otherwise that I can remember. What you're asking for is Something Elseā¢.I don't know about many players, but i was asking for something to do with my 50s for years. Though that something had nothing to do with required teaming.
Besides, "many players" != "all players". I'm not silly enough to make that conclusion -
Quote:QFT. Incarnate content was always designed to be End Game Content, ie: raid-centric. It's what many players had been asking for, for years.
Alternate solo paths for Incarnate content is... well, alternate. An addition. Not part of the original design. -
There's a lot to be said about intrinsic rewards (indeed, it's a major reason why I play, versus actual in-game rewards)
However, I have to side with Posi on this one. Inherently, some players are lazy*; they'll take the fastest route to get rewards. Unfortunately, trials need all the people they can get, including the lazy ones. In-game systems need to be designed around all sorts of players, and sometimes you need to force the lazy players to actually work for their rewards.
We've all seen what happens when systems designed around intrinsic rewards are farmed and exploited by lazy players who go for the easiest-to-tap feeder bar.... the MA system
Edit: that's not to say there might be better ways to do it, like the cooldowns mentioned above..
*Lazy players may or may not include players who prefer solo-friendly content, but it's not all inclusive, obviously - simply a case-by-case basis. -
Scrappers would give you crit chances, while Brutes would give you Fury. Guess it just depends on if you want a character that is a righteous warrior or someone with furious vengeance
Point of note: scrappers have better damage modifiers up front, but Brutes have the capability to do more damage with a build up of Fury. -
Thanks everyone
With baby and school (off of work for a bit), going to have my hands full, although not as full as Batz I wager; after all, I only have the one child so far

Been offline since end of Double XP on Sunday. Had a good run over the weekend. Then stuff happened. Been busy.
Very busy. -
Rella had to stay home from SDCC this year. She was crushed, but my friends and I were able to give her the recaps at least
She insisted I go to pre-reg for next year.

Sorry I missed the raid. Need to look at the Raid channel MoTD more often
Glad it went well!

Indeed, Rella and I spent a lot of time going back to our CoH duo roots today. More fun tomorrow

One of the other things is that, with enough Paragon Rewards, players will unlock archetypes, lifetime Invention and AE license, etc. So even Premium vets, once they choose their Rewards, can still have access to almost everything they could access when subscribed, depending on how much time they put in previously. That invalidates almost the whole argument above for a 33 month vet. Just look at the Prezi presentation
That is, once the account server starts working correctly. Grayed out options for some, others can't even logged in. It is called Beta for a reason though, as many have pointed out -
Quote:Weird, I thought this big forum labeled "Feedback - City of Heroes Freedom and Issue 21: Convergence VIP Beta" would have been appropriate, since if you can post here, you can post thereI'm putting this here because I have no idea where else to that I can even post.
That's all I've got, because that post is honestly TL;DR. -
I think the only intent the author wishes is to be able to keep badges, earned SG Prestige records, and other perks without having to re-earn them. Although I understand the sentiment, it removes a major reason to play through the game again with another character - earning badges and other perks (and the time sync involved therein).
I'm going to be stuck in a similar quagmire when Titan Weapons comes out, since it fits Obsidius' basic premise I established years ago when he was an RP character. Still, there have to be hooks to play a character from lvl 1-50+, storylines, XP, Inf, and missions aside. -
Quote:I've quoted this for truthinessI don't care about spoilers. I don't care if I'm spoiled on some plot points. I will often seek out spoilers. For example: I'm in the process of reading A Game of Thrones for the first time (I'm halfway through book 4), and I have repeatedly asked my boyfriend for clarifications on certain points in the story so I don't have to go to bed pissed of because of X, Y, or Z happening (or NOT happening).
I try not to be spoilery around new players. But I will answer any question that is asked, even if they're asking for spoilers. I'll make sure they actually do want the spoilers before answering, but if they want spoilers, they get spoilers. If they don't want spoilers, I may take the time to obfuscate the issue or I may just tell them to play the game themselves to find out.
I don't post spoilers on forums, because I'm typically the last person to knowSometimes, I'll ask my wife about what happens in something I'm reading that she's already read, or when watching a TV show on which she's already read the synopsis online. Sometimes I don't mind spoilers. But other items I do. The key is that I can choose what I want spoiled.

One of my favored replies from this article:
Quote:Besides, there's already a thread on this subject in another forum. The data as presented do not provide for, or against, another possibility: some people really don't like knowing the ending, and some people really do like knowing the ending. Perhaps most don't care either way? In other words, you (Jonah) enjoy reading the final pages first, but perhaps others don't; and reporting such research as "spoilers don't spoil anything" requires more data than just the average (mean).
If, hypothetically, 25% of the public really would rather not know the ending, wouldn't it be nice of us not to subject them to endings, even if 50% enjoy knowing the ending? -

Thanks again Cats
I took my wife out to dinner last night to keep her from going stir crazy. When I got back it felt like I should log on, but I couldn't figure out the reason. Wasn't until I was going to bed that I remembered it was Double XP Weekend
Oh well, at least I got the new universal remote programmed -
I'm looking forward to having a little Sonic Blaster around! I'm not looking forward to the new semester starting next week, the same week my wife is supposed to be due.
I have a feeling the baby is going to be arriving later anyhow (I'd almost bet on it). If not, oh well, I'll just have to sit a semester out
I think you give me far too much credit, but thanks for the flattery

Quote:I've been keeping tabs on ya, CatsI have to wait until September to join you in fatherhood.
Mags and I are expecting a daughter, do you know whats coming your way ?Congrats BTW!
Rella and I are expecting a son, due in less than a week but probably won't be born until later
Thanks Z, it was great making your acquaintance at SDCC! Sorry you got the plague
Thanks everyone -
Quote:That's a pretty generalized way of stating it, but inaccurate. If I go into a sports bar, for example, I expect some noise and visual distractions, but I don't expect someone to yell directly into my ear while I'm eating my burger.I like to not see big screen TVs up on the wall when I go out to eat as it distracts me from my girlfriend. But I know if we go to a Sports Bar my chances of that not happening are next to nil.
Same thing applies when you make the choice to browse the forums.
For example, if I start reading a thread about builds, and then a poster ambushes the thread with some quasi-related post about how they'll need Power X to survive the super-secret plot twist in a story line that many players haven't had the chance to experience themselves, that's just rude. -
Just remembered that ALL of my characters need a respec since Fitness is an inherent pool now. Might wait for Afterburner on Obsidius, but who knows
