I'd been wondering what was included in the Origins Bundle; thanks for the comprehensive break-down Snow Globe. I now know that I'll have to Wish list the auras as well

I think the two blueside legacy Praetorian arcs are in the worst need of a revamp, and not for the sake of art assets (although it's a good point). Repetative outdoor "defeat all" maps, glowie hunts, etc. THe story behind it is good, but the execution was poor due to the limited tools from Issue 1. The sort of mission design mentality that existed when the developers thought that people would just go to Hazard Zones to wail on stuff all day. And we saw how that ended for Faultline
-
Who's to say that certain farm, combat mission, etc. authors won't purposefully mis-categorize their missions for the purposes of visibility, or just to spite "RPers", etc.? I think we're putting far too much faith in the honesty of other players, but that's one of the key components of the AE I suppose - faith in other players.
I think it would be fair to wipe everything, so long as a warning were sent out beforehand so that active players could back arcs up to their local drive, so they may republish them after the wipe. -
Quote:<Throws a flag>Fantastic. You are, of course, willing to pay out-of-pocket so that Paragon can double their staff to give you all of this?
Assumption of manpower, defense. Automatic first down.
(Would we really need double the amount of worlds creators and writers to work on player powers?)

Some fun reading:

In other words: your computer sends HTTPS traffic out on port 443, but when it leaves your router, it's translated to an entirely different port via NAT. Usually a random port number to maintain your anonymity. -
I pretty much feel the same way about your posts, so I think you both get a pass

Quote:The fellow who has Obsidius on Exalted seems to be honorable enough; seems he had a character by the same name on another popular MMO.I did not get Obsidius.
I'm looking at obtaining it from the person who has it. Otherwise, I have a plan; something I've considered doing for a while anyhow.
He said I could have the name if I was able to free up the name Saint. I've asked Saint about this possibility, but I have no illusions that this will happen.
I'm going to think about my alternate plan over the next week or so, which will probably be so busy I'll not have much play time anyhow.
Edit: new character on Exalted: "The gargoyle Obsidius" -
I have to agree with F_P. Not putting restrictions on free accounts would basically mean anyone could roll a free character and spam paying players to death with RMT garbage. And although SGs can set permissions for storage devices, restricting joining SGs will eliminate SG invite request spam from free players ("can i join ur sg plz?" x 1 billion).
The bar for entry is only $5. If someone is too young to use a CC, they'll just have to get permission from a parent/ guardian or get a pre-purchased CC. -
I ran into a similar problem with someone taking the name "Obsidius" on Exalted. However, instead of making a public debacle out of it, I'm attempting to contact that person to see what's up. Not that I plan to play on Exalted much, but I like to have options
Otherwise, I have a magnificent plan in store that I might launch sooner or later. And no, this plan doesn't involve harassment, slander, or other things that would violate the EULA. Not that anyone reads that these days -
IIRC, just spending $5 in the Market will earn a Free Player a Reward Token. When they use that one reward token, the become Premium and the problems you describe disappear. They can use /tell and join SGs.
Edit: all free players get one Reward Token by defaults. Making a first purchase of at least 400 pts ($5) gives a player his / her 2nd Token, which unlocks Tier 2 and does what is described above (reference).
Subsequent Tokens require buying $15 worth of points each, or every month for VIP subs. -

Quote:I know the difficulties around customizing Granite Armor due to the avatar swap-out. I know BAB was working on fundamentally changing the animations of the power's activation at some point (even opened a thread about it). I even know that some of his work was in the game files (not sure if it's still there, but they rarely remove stuff from game files, even if it goes unused later).Granite Armor has no customization because it has no visible power effects to customize. Now, I realize that there are a lot of you reading this and calling fewmets on that statement, because everyone can see when a character turns on Granite Armor. However, the statement is correct, albeit incomplete.
Granite Armor does not have a visible power effect the way other powers do -- creating a glow or shape around the character. Granite Armor works the same way that a costume code or a Halloween costume does -- the Granite Armor character model replaces your character's model completely. And being a completely separate character model, all of its characteristics are inherently baked into it -- there's nothing to customize. In order to make Granite Armor customizable, the devs are going to have to change the fundamental mechanism of how this power works visually.
Which isn't to say that it can't be done. Look at Animated Stone -- there are different character models for that depending on whether you want a rocky or crystalline pet. But the fact remains that it's going to be a lot more work to make Granite Armor customizable than it was to make other powers customizable, because the character's appearance isn't hooked to the power; it's buried in the game's rendering.
Obviously, such a solution wouldn't work well for Kheldian transformations. Honestly, as much as I'd like to see PwrCust for Epic ATs, Khelds would prob be at the bottom of my list due to the additional tech problems involved with shape-shifting.
It seems that most players would want EPP/APP and PPP PwrCust, as well as Pool Power PwrCust. These should definitely be at the top of the list, IMPO. It's like characters get to level 4 (Pool Powers) and 34 (APPs/PPPs), and the game says "You can pick from all of these nifty powers now! Don't expect to customize them like you can other powers, though." To new players, that would seem sort of wonkey. And as many other posters have pointed out, they can even clash with your standard powers that you've customized.
Now that they've done a lot of work revamping the new character experience (revamped character creation & tailor windows), I hope they put some time reworking the later character experience in regards to customization and tailoring. -
Been using them on new characters since Going Rogue. OF course, I've only had a handful of new characters since then, but why look a gift horse in the mouth, I say. Better than TOs, good enough until lvl 20 or I get a better drop

Quote:Unless one can't use it with Monstrous legs, that is.
I like some of the armor bits, but since it's just another set that completely ignores characters with Monstrous legs (which is odd seeing as how many pieces could fit monster and minotaur themes so well), it's even less useful than the Valkyrie set, which at least had the armored wings.
Not looking at purchasing this set in the near future. -
Gargoyle Seal of Approval.
Just made that up, but there it is. -
"VIP Head Start". For VIPs. The F2P function isn't live yet. How your friend even has a free account, I'm not sure.

Happening to me too. Problem with the cookies? Not sure, just wish it would get fixed so I can stay logged in for at least a week before I have to re-authenticate :/ Right now I have to log in every few hours or so.

Not sure how an un-enhancable travel power that locks out all other powers is a bad idea compared to Fly. If I want more options, I choose Fly.
I wonder if Afterburner works with the Rocket Board... -
Might have to pick it up later. Blew most of my points on another costume slot, the backpack, and the cape & aura permanent unlock.
BTW, LOVE the avatar Baba.
EEEEEVEEEERYOOOONE!!! -
Quote:That's sort of my fear too. In the same podcast, Zwil & Positron talked about how new devs have their own agendas. Mostly, this was in context of story writers, but at the same time, I can't help but feel that without Chris Bruce, Power Customization has gone the way of bases and the AE System.Shiny Penny Syndrome, the devs' have it. Power Customization is so old, they'd rather work on something new and shiny.
In the same podcast, they also talked about how they have plans for bases about which they can't talk. But I've been hearing stuff like that for years, so I'll believe it when I see it
In short, I would love to be proven wrong and see something happen in the Power Customization front.
(and bases for that matter, but that's another thread) -
Galaxy City, Obsidius & the Paragon Regulators will miss you.
-
Both unlock all of the standard options account-wide to all characters at level 1. You only have to pay extra for premium capes, backpacks, and auras.
