without spoiling anything else for you i'm going to say kinda.

The rule of thumb, as given to me by support, is if it adds goodies to your account, you can apply it. If those are already there, it won't do any good.
Example, I found a bunch of old editions of the game, regular boxes, collector's and bootleg editions etc. I went to apply the ones I didn't already have, having never applied a normal CoH code to my accounts I figured it would work, but it wouldn't allow me to because I wouldn't gain anything in game from it.
I still have a bunch of unopened boxes and unused codes, I should hand 'em out to friends or something heh -

Haha, awesome.

Quote:I can't say what's causing it, but I can say i've been using G-15 keyboards for the last three years, the old one with 18 g-keys, and have never had performance issues from it.Well, new to me. A friend of mine gave me a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard the other day. I hooked it up and installed the software and drivers. It works great. Except ... when I play CoH. I makes CoH run S-L-O-W. I cannot minimize the window or switch between windows without it taking like 2 full minutes, and it locks up my pc during this time as well, while with my old keyboard I could switch between windows on the fly with no problems. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else even have this keyboard?

Quote:I might still have some screenshots on my photobucket, let me wrap up this mission and i'll go see. heh....sorry, I'm missing what the 1960's Arachnos is referring to? And please indicate if there's spoilers involved....
edit: GAH! I don't have them anymore =/
edit2: There are some on the arachnos page of Paragonwiki though, in the Named Enemies section http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Arachnos#Named_Enemies -
I still say those costumes need to be made available for the VEATs

I would suggest just checking out Amazon every so often, I got the one I needed for my second account for 20 bucks from one of their third party sellers, not directly from Amazon.
They have several that are "used" right now starting at 8.99 I would email the sellers and find out if the CD keys have been used, if they haven't, pick up one of those. A lot of the time in the case of games like this the "used" ones are just open box, with the keys intact. Sure, they could be missing the comic or the hero-clix figure, but if you just want it for the in game goodies, it's worth it. -

As others have said, staying away from specific costume themes like Captain Americas round starred shield and winged head and you'll be fine.
While I don't have any patriotic characters, I do have a couple who are loosely based on other characters.
For example, I have a Martian(not green, except in the tribute costume which still only shares a color scheme) who shares several mannerisms with the Martian Man-Hunter summoned to earth by Merlin to assist the knights in their search for the grail. During the incantation to send him home, Merlin mispronounces a key word and he was thrust into the future landing in a modern Europe. Hearing of the trouble the world is having with super powered beings, he decides to stay on earth and come to Paragon City to offer his assistance.
I also have another who is based around the lore of the Red Lantern. Though he isn't part of the corp, he possesses a red ring that has immense power and plans to use it to get revenge on his home planet for banishing him. Earth is just one stop on his road home, recruiting an army to assist in his revenge. I've been considering ret-conning his story to give him a black ring instead, making it easier for him to raise an army.
I've had both of these characters for years, and they're more than different enough, in name and appearance, to avoid being hit with the stick, but similar enough that people see the inspiration. -
Who wants Snowcones!?!

Quote:That is correct. It will only increase performance is your PC is actually able to generate more than your desired cap.I can verify that this works because I tried it and Fraps shows the adjusted FPS during gameplay and when the screen is inactive. As was said already though, this doesn't INCREASE FPS, it only decreases it (which I did to save processing power for other stuff).
My PC for instance hovers right around 70FPS, which, to me, is useless, since this isn't one of those über high performance action games. I cap it at 25 just to save power for use elsewhere, such as dual boxing.
Also, there is an in game command to show fps, it's /showfps 1 /showfps 0 to turn it off. -
I think that was aimed more at the OP than it was a general statement, since the costume he showed us was pretty generic.

Quote:I don't usually recommend Alienware because with them you were pretty much paying for the name, since Dell purchased them, that isn't so much the case anymore. They're right on par price wise with IBuyPower and CyberpowerPC now. If you're looking for the size of a netbook, with the performance that allows you to play real games. Alienware just put out the M11x which will play most current games on high around 30fps, so CoH wouldn't be an issue for it to play. It rings in at just under $800 for the base model.I had just bought the HP mini yesterday and I've read over and over how COH was playable on it... I got through everything, but as soon as I enter Paragon City that's when things got ugly... I was initially thinking of getting an Acer Aspire One, but opted out at the last second and got the HP mini. I got my free 14 day trial of COH yesterday as well and really wanna play it, like... i always just get a taste of this game and then it's gone. you know how tempting that is? lol, but I've also seen the Compaq Presario cq61-410ous for the same price as the mini but they were out of stock at the store I went to, I should have just traveled across town to go to the other one to check. But I just may return this one and go for that to test it out. Thanks again guys! I really appreciate it.
I know that's a bit more than a netbook, but It does give you significantly more power and storage for what you're buying. -
Quote:The thing with that is, there are so many other abilities that do it better, that WW is sitll a waste of a slot, for most characters, unless you get it just for fun and show.lol that's cause it's garbage. (for utility, looks neat though
)
It used to be a cool costume change power, but that was replaced with the emote lol. -
Quote:GAH! too slow...The Mastermind section is a good place to start, especially the Sticky at the top of that forum, titled Mastermind Guides and FAQs, which includes quite a few links to Player Guides, some relating specifically to Binds.
I've found the first one in that list, Sandolphan's Revised MM Numpad Pet Controls to be the most useful myself. It takes a little getting used to, especially if you don't take your hand off the mouse often while playing. But it is an easy setup to learn, and you don't lose any of the games already existing bind keys like some setups do.
edit: eye kan tipe gud. -

They were introduced with the 2009 Halloween event, you can read a little about it here

Quote:Well if you don't want to pay for a second account, the only real option you have is to have a friend invite people for you. You could even go as far as paying someone you don't know to do it. Temporarily make it so the only abilities the lowest rank has is to invite, then invite someone to do the inviting for you. When you're done and they're no longer in the SG, reset the permissions to whatever you need them to be.Hello all,
This is directed to players who are the only characters in their SG.
I'm wondering how you go about recruiting your new characters? Do you just broadcast for some kind soul to do it and hope that they don't rob you blind (from your racks, etc.)?
Or how do you go about allowing permissions so that your new toons can then access salvage racks, etc.
I once had TWO accounts and this worked, but to pay another $16.23/month JUST so I could get my characters in my SG didn't seem financially feasible to me.
Just wondering how others get around it.
Thanks for any tips! -
Quote:There is a video from the 2009 Hero Con that have some of the ultra mode video in it.Are there any anywhere? All I can find are screen shots, which show only the shadows and reflectivity features, everything else is either frustratingly absent (Like.. characters!) or too small to make out any details worth noting.
I'm pretty sure they're in this playlist

edit: It is indeed, it's in the second video, right around the 1/3 mark. -
Quote:Heh, my Blaster, Crab, Fortunata, Defender, Controller.. hell, anything that isn't melee all have that Death From Above mentality. It really is a great way to stay alive against foes that have limited ranged abilities. Also if you choose not to do that you can get hover at level 6 which is a prerequisite for the travel power flight. Then you can fight from above. You'll still get knocked down from time to time but when you can shoot them and they can't get within melee to attack you . . . well that's just plain fun.

If you like a balance between the lower pop servers and the crazy high pop servers, go with Justice. It's usually somewhere between number three and five in the population rankings. AND it's where I play, so that's a double bonus!
