Anyone else starting to get some burning questions about the expansion?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've had "burning questions" since the news came out; unfortunately the CoX marketing people have the dev's lips sealed. I just hope that we get SOMETHING more soon; it's frustrating.

    I finally did it

As of yesterday, I now have a 34 Ill/Kin who is quite fun to play now that he has his pet. PA was less than what i expected, but they did make life much easier at 18.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ill/Kin has no way to help PA do more damage, since you can't buff it; PA is pretty nasty when you have debuffs.

I will, to this thread submit my personal favorite novel, Villains by Neccissity, writen by Eve Foreward.

It's a typical fantasy novel with the following set up; a long time ago the world was beset by darkness and evil. Dragons and demons prowled the night, united behind The Dark Lord, who threatened to plunge the world into a hellish eternal night. But a band of unlikely heroes, each champions of what was Good and right set aside their differences and banded together to overthrow the Dark Lord and shatter his hold over the land.

But they didn't stop there. No these heroes and their descendents wages a relentless campaign against the dark, leaving no stone unturned, scouring the wicked things and men of poor moral character from the world. The group's wizard created a spell that would infuse the soul of a wicked man with light, thus transforming these villains into peaceful and productive folk.

So it has gone until now the world is a bright and pristine place. Noble dragons and majestic Unicorns move freely across the land, and the people's are united by the legacy of the heroes that freed them. The world stands poised to ascend into a perfect glorious radiance of the light, when the last 6 unlikely scoundrels must band together, setting aside their personal differences to restore the power of the darkness to it's rightful place.

    Great freaking book.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Onf my favorites. It contains one of my favorite lines; when confronted with a Heroic Impossible Task, the villains think and think about how they can pull it off. Until one looks up and says :

    "What are we thinking ?! We're villains ! We'll cheat !"
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Can anyone think of examples in other media of villains being evil and winning through at the finish?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Blood Omen comes to mind.

    [ QUOTE ]
Vorador was right. We are Gods - Dark Gods - and it is our duty to thin the herd.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  5. Some people hate knockback in even the smallest amount.

However, I think that Energy Blast DOES have a problem on Corrupters and Defenders; it doesn't synergize well with most of the debuff powers. That's why I like my Energy/Storm and Energy/Traps; both use "sticky" debuffs that you don't need to worry about knocking things out of. Energy Blast is really best on Blasters, I think.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I've never understood why hunt missions were removed on Red side.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because the great majority of people hate them.

    [ QUOTE ]
Blue side you can choose a mission or a hunt. If you don't like hunts don't choose them, but at least they have a choice. I see no benefit taking away that choice.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Quite often the choice is between two hunts, or between a hunt and not doing any more missions for that contact.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
LoL, nice... :P Anyone see that though? Am I seeing things?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes I saw it too; and yesterday I saw several subforums with the same thing.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
honestly I ran a blaster way back in the day and it was really hard to stay alive now things might have changed since then. Any suggestions on good solo blaster builds?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's better now. They got a damage boost, and a new version of Defiance. They do more damage with every attack, and can use their tier 1 &2 Primary and tier 1 secondary power even when held.

For soloing, Ice/Mental and Sonic/Mental are very good. Good control, good damage, and a self heal in Drain Psyche.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I have an Ill/Sonic and in my opinion it's a combo you want if you're planning on teaming, not for soloing, since some of the best powers are team-focused.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You do know that Disruption Field, the -res toggle can be anchored on the Phantom Army, right ?
  10. I picked it up for the damage boost, not the accuracy boost as well.
  11. I'd also say that Corrs solo easier early on; Controllers pull ahead later.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Whatever you make a Dual Blades character as, keep in mind that the set's animations are much more about speed than force. I made a DB brute who was intended to be an inhuman monster dual-wielding meat cleavers, and then she started dancing like a ballerina on ecstasy every time I got into a fight. Fits much better as a scrapper or stalker set, in my opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Picture them giggling as they slowly slice mobs of enemies to bits, dancing in the rain of blood scattered by their shredded enemies, glorying in the agony of their victim's deaths. It feels MUCH more brutish then !
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Have you ever felt, as you go about your crime stopping and defending, that Paragon seems a little sterile?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Kind of vaguely Stalinist, actually, with the huge statues of Heroes of the People all over.
  14. I seem to recall that he's vulnerable to Dark attacks, even through his Unstoppable. Going by memory, when he first came out there was an occasional bug where he'd get permanently stuck in Unstoppable and the only way to beat him was with Dark attacks, or wait for a petition to go through.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Did you miss the "Log-out protest" monday? or was that just a Justice thing?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Considering that if you log out you aren't in the game, it would be difficult to NOT miss it. That's like being picketed by the Invisible Man.
  16. I'll also add that Confuse is a good way to deal with Fortunatas; they don't resist it unlike most mezzes . Yes, it takes a while to beat them down, but they won't be able to hurt you.

    Vyriss - Bots/?

My Bots/Dark, Dark Mechanix is from a universe that was consumed by The Darkness That Eats All Things. One of the unfortunates who lived, like all life in it's universe it is only an extension of the Darkness, left with only enough individuality to suffer. A drone with drones of its own, it has been sent to our world to sow dissension to make our forthcoming consumption easier.

My Bots/Storm Doctor Tempest is a straightforward mad scientist with weather control technology.

My Bots/Pain is an sadistic scientist who uses nanite swarms for healing, and cyborg drones for fighting. He uses cyborgs with human brains for the simple reason that a pure machine doesn't HURT. He especially enjoying kidnapping the friends and family of heroes, extracting their brains for use in his cyborgs and then telling the heroes later whose brain was in the machine they smashed.

I disagree. Phantom Army and Phantasm's Decoy Phantasm would give Doms a means to keep PTOD equipped EBs from killing them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

too bad domination would only affect flash and blind

    [/ QUOTE ]
Eh, no big deal. With the damage boost being stripped from it, there's not much Illusion NEEDS from Domination.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Illusion is such an unusual set even on Controllers that I really doubt it'd end up on Doms in a recognisable form. We've got a better chance of seeing a modified version on Masterminds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

didnt a dev say they were workin on that

    [/ QUOTE ]
They might have mentioned that illusion would need changes to go to Doms, I think wording it carefully so that it doesn't mean they're necessarily working on it. They like to surprise us.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They used Illusion as an example of something that would take a good deal of work to rework for Masterminds, as opposed to Storm ( thus, MMs get Storm ).
  19. [ QUOTE ]
This is the only one that I fully agree with:
    [ QUOTE ]

-- Illusion Control for Dominators. Sorry. It just doesn't mesh well with their inherent. And it's just not personal enough for a Dom. :3

    [/ QUOTE ]
Illusion would be a craptacular set for Dominators, and as soon as the new Shiny Shiny wore off, people would start screaming for the devs to "fix" it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I disagree. Phantom Army and Phantasm's Decoy Phantasm would give Doms a means to keep PTOD equipped EBs from killing them.

Elec/Storm can be brutal, especially at Elite Boss (or is she an Archvillain, and would've scaled down to it?) levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]
She's an AV that scales down to EB in Sharkhead. There's another arc where she shows up in Cap, but it's been a while since I ran it and I forget if she was a Boss or EB there (I think only a Boss).

    [/ QUOTE ]
She's an Elite Boss there, but doesn't scale up to Hero/AV. Looking at her profile on the Scrapyarders' Paragonwiki page, I note that each of the three versions has different powers. The EB version adds flight to what she had as a boss, and she has a whole bunch more powers in her Sharkhead Hero form.

But looking at Issue 15, there's no mention of Proliferation...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is there a mention of ANYTHING other than new faces? I haven't heard anything about I15, other than that it might go on Test somewhere within the next month. What do we know about it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
This. And that the Dominator changes/buffs are probably included.

As far as why no Proliferation recently ? Shield and Pain Dom as new and semi-new powersets, and Mission Architect. Balancing & debugging and so forth all those custom NPC powers must have eaten up a lot of time.

I'll try to get to level 12 or so by tomorow evening, to see whether I like Fire/Storm or not. And Fire Cages works fine against the knockback from Gale, at least. I don't really plan on taking Hurricane. It's knockback and repel, and the end drain looks massive. The only use I could see a for it, is to push thing back out of melee if they escape Cages, and frankly, Gale seems more than sufficient for that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gale stinks. I almost never use it. I was on an ITF yesterday, and while I used Hurricane every now and then, I never used Gale. Gale can be used as a positioning tool in just the right situation, but it has a 20% accuracy penalty so to use it with any regularity, you need to put 2 Accuracy in it minimum. I haven't freed up a slot for a second accuracy on any of my Storm characters.

But Hurricane has good uses. It has a HUGE to Hot Debuff if you learn to use it with skill. My favorite use of Hurricane is in those Cul-de-sacs in offices. Stand at the entrance, toggle on Hurricane, Lightning Storm, AoE Immobilize, Tornado, then anything else that does damage. Bad guys are trapped and mostly can't hit you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This needs to be seconded. It's -tohit effect alone adds greatly to your survival, especially later when you start running into enemy EBs you can't lock down or knock away. It's also very useful against enemies like Warwolf bosses that are both hard to hold and hard to immob - but can be held off by Hurricane.
  23. Avoid the personal attacks, and make a dual pistols character who can do something useful with them when Going Rogue comes out.

After that MA debacle, its not like a bug on test for a few days matters, to be honest.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What debacle? Many of us are enjoying the MA immensly. No issues there. MA is tremendous fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The "MA debacle" line is something I've heard a lot of; the farmers have been trying to spread panic and outrage since they got their exploits nerfed.
