Quote:Already mentioned as being worked on, I believe.I'll bite:
Since my one thing I would want to see improved has been currently shot out of the water (bases), I'll go for an in-game mailing system - mailing items to other characters, within reason (perhaps alignment based, for example, especially if the markets are still to be seperate).
I'd go for a "Leader" AT, aka the "heroic Mastermind". Say, the primary being MM pet powers, with personal attacks replaced with defensive toggles; and an assault secondary instead of buffs/debuffs like an MM has. -
Ha! I actually HAVE a character named Masochism. And he became a hero specifically because villains are more brutal and sadistic towards their enemies. And he makes heavy use of the barbed wire costume pieces. Very funny when he rescues a civilian who runs up and says "I want my kid to grow up just like you!"
-
Well, with GR coming we will soon have any number of heroes with names that are...less than reassuring.
"Oh, Devourer of Innocence, you saved me! Ah, you ARE saving me, right? And not the 'for-dinner' kind of saved?" -
From in game; shrink it down to pistol size and eliminate or de-Nictusize the glow and the Void Hunter Rifle would make a good "gauss pistol" ( a weapon that fires bullets accelerated by magnetic fields ). Yes, the presently in-game weapon is a ray gun but it could as easily be portrayed as firing bullets; it even has "accelerator rings".
-
Perhaps a "Gatling pistol"? You can make Rularuu eyes move and Vanguard shields open; perhaps you could make the barrels rotate? I'm envisioning bulky, oversized pistols with a ( hopefully ) rotating cylinder of barrels. Perhaps with a sleek futuristic version and a brassy, clunky steampunk version.

One thing I find helps a lot is to add a title or adjective to the name you want. For example; Stormwraith, Blackstorm, Contamination, and Fulgarite were taken; Lethal Contamination, Mistress Blackstorm, Lady Stormwraith and Fiendish Fulgarite were not.

Quote:Seriously? Justice is pretty well populated. Have you tried joining JFA2010?Justice is impossible to find teams at any time other than prime, and it stinks.
And really, on none of the servers is it "impossible" to find teams, except possibly in the dead of night. -
* A statue of your character placed somewhere in the city, once you reach 50 and perhaps get an accolade for performing certain difficult tasks. The plaque at the base of the statue would be your bio at the time you won the award.
* Faction based missions that grant you themed temp powers or costume parts. Like doing missions for a Freakshow contact that give you a "summon Tank freak" power or "Tesla coil shoulder pieces".
* Major incursions. I want Statesman or the whole Freedom Phalanx and allies to show up in Grandville. Fight their way to a "mission door" through a horde of Arachnos and vanish in the door. I want Arachnos Fliers to show up and bomb the Atlas statue or a random building into rubble every so often. Have a team of NPC villains show up to "rob a bank" and get attacked by spawns of PPD.
* I want Rikti Invasions to end when big flying ships called Vanguard Destroyers show up and blow up the Rikti Dropships. That could go with getting rid of the War Walls, and explain why the Rikti vanish even without the Walls going back up.
* I want BIG GMs. I know that the devs are working on making targeting work properly with those ( they had the Giant Mek Man in the AE on Test for a while for that ).
* I want easy movement between servers ( but not to go serverless; having different server cultures is useful ), and for the servers to be made different from each other for a more parallel universe feel. Have Boomtown partly rebuilt - on some servers. Smash the Atlas statue on others. Have the 5th Column winning most of the time on some servers but not others. Have the Moon at night have a big glowing crater from an ""exploded superweapon" on some servers but not others. And so on. -
I think the basic problem is that most of the people interested have already done it. It doesn't unlock a costume piece, grant an accolade power, unlock a weapon or anything like that; so there's not much incentive to do the event on multiple characters.

Quote:Too much realism can be a bad thing...
Look, I'm sure that the new scent simulation package for the virtual reality version of CoX sounded good at first. Very immersion enhancing. But you'd think that the words "sewer map" would have crossed the dev's minds at some point. -
-
Well, yes; I do. Especially since I usually solo. Even in teams, I sometimes will shield pets instead of players ( depending on if it's the pets or the players that are taking serious damage, and on the squishiness of the player in question ).

Quote:And in fact some dev was quoted recently as saying "What were we thinking?" about that sort of random door-> mission setup. And in Going Rogue, the new missions will be appropriate for the building and area they are in.In agreeance with the map complaint, it does strike me as comical to run into an old shack of a warehouse in Sharkhead for instance, and enter into this nicely laid out hotel-looking place. But as you go through the map, you wonder "who puts a little doorway that you can barely see, that leads into a huge lobby, behind a staircase?"
-
Yes; that is something I've repeatedly said would be a nice QoL enhancement. It wouldn't screw with balance - you can already shield everybody. It would just cut down on the aggravation, like the changing of the Mastermind upgrade powers to AoEs did.
-
A few more off the top of my head: Removing the AE building from Croatoa, adding KB resistance to zombies to make them more challenging, the Flies Aura, Dual Pistols ( when they come ), the Gem Shield ( the original version being renamed to Geode Shield ), being able to turn off e-mail.

Quote:Actually, I've always heard Bots/FF given as the example of a good tankermind power combination. And your pets still are vulnerable to AoEs even if you are the target, so it's still good for them to have high defense; and your Protector Bots help with the healing.About the only thing I'd do differently is the presence/tankermind strategy. As much as I love robot/ff, it's strengths don't strike me as really lending themselves to tankerminding. The thing robot/ff was designed to be good at is boosting the defense of our pets, but if you're taking all the damage as a tankermind that bypasses your pets defense entirely, nullifying the point of our signature power. On top of that, all your pets are getting an even split of damage, but you can only spot-heal them with aid other and the occasional repair.

Quote:I know they are two different problems; that's why I only quoted his comment about the one. As for the elevator bug; outside of dismissing and resummoning, sometimes I've found that switching between floors can fix it. Sometimes not. And when it does work it's fairly time consuming; they run in and out of the elevators repeatedly until they settle down.Actually I think there are TWO problems here - the one Invincible_Ninja mentioned and the one you are talking about, I have actually seen both.
< snip >
However, the problem invincible mentioned happens when you are in a mission map and you use an elevator to go to another 'floor'. Your pets still show up properly in your pet window but they don't all 'exit' the elevator properly - they appear to be drifting freely around the map as if they have become dis-joined from the map or something. So far the only way I have resolved this issue is to dismiss and re-summon them (which makes it clear that this different from the first bug as you can't dismiss the pets that don't show up in your pet window or issue any pet commands to them). -
They might also throw in the Mutant Pack.
-
Nitpick: unless you are a post-32 Controller. Or, eventually, a Mastermind when they get /sonic.
Hmm. Now there would be a use for running Sonic Disruption & Repulsion at the same time; Disruption on the Bruiser, Repulsion on the suicidal arsonist...at least keep the guys he insists on running up to out of melee. -
That is an interface problem I understand; you can't control them or see them in the pet window, but they still count for things like Supremacy and Bodyguard. The workaround is to use a targeted buff by clicking directly on the pet; a targeted heal, a shield, one of the upgrades; etc. That gives you control of the pet again.
-
Then again, given that this is a new powerset it's quite possible that they've taken advantage of Power Customization and have more than one set of animations. A flamboyant set and a businesslike set, say.
-
I already have the name Black Ops reserved for a DP/Dark Corruptor; a mercenary mutant gunslinger I think. I'm also planning on a DP/MM Blaster; still thinking of a concept for him though.

Quote:Dual Pistols has a "Reload" power that cycles it though all the ammo types. Presumably all the powers change. On the Dual Pistol ammo types (standard, cryo, incendiary, chemical)... Is that something you choose at character creation, or that you can switch whenever you want to? Also, if you're on standard ammo, and you switch to cryo (assuming you can switch on the fly), does it change all of your Dual Pistol attack powers to using cryo?
Quote:Also, from the video clip of the keynote address when they were showing off Dual Pistols... what was with the doves? (Yes, I get the reference, I've seen enough gun-fu movies... but was that just something the Devs put in to the demonstration to be silly, or can we expect random dove appearances when using certain powers in Dual Pistols?)
Quote:That...was a Herocon 09 exclusive easter egg. The powerset will not have doves associated with it.
Namely because you guys would want to color tint the damn doves, or make them hawks/ravens/flying sharks/etc and that's just a headache I do...not...want...to deal with. -
Quote:According to BaB:I'm no code monkey, but how do they manage to break this kind of stuff?
Gremlins?
Quote:Numerous reports of various mez/hold animations not playing correctly. I know that this is something we've looked into before, and I suspect that this is another in a string of "was fixed, but got unfixed by the dastardly Branch 20"
Branch 20 is Paragon's latest nemesis.
