Naturally. He's obviously a Communist subversive, going about handing out gifts instead of expecting people to pay their own way. And really, handing out coal to the naughty? Would a well meaning individual hand out incendiaries to the wicked?

Since there's an official letter from Ruin and at least one villain letter in this thread, I though I'd add another. From my Dual Blades/Fire Armor brute Burning Blood:
Quote:Written on what has been identified as Behemoth hide, penned in human blood:
Greetings, whomever reads this. I am one of the few of those called villains who has chosen to aid the one called 'Hero 1'. As for why I do so; to understand that you must understand me.
I have long forgotten my true name. Ages ago I was executed for terrible crimes, my soul plunging to the netherworld. But I was not like my fellow damned souls; something, my nature or the blessing of some dark god allowed me to draw strength from that unholy place. I waxed powerful, broke my bonds and went forth into that terrible place of terrible beings, to show them I was more terrible still. I went back and forth across the burning lands, committing crimes and atrocities even more hideous than those I died for. Demons, the damned, all suffered when I came upon them and none could stop me.
Finally in the end my presence was more than even they could tolerate, and the masters of that realm banished me back to this mortal world. Less powerful for I am far from the realm from which I draw power, but still forever wreathed in the hellfire I have earned and with a world of victims before me. And so while some would call my state damnation, I call it paradise; what is the pain of hellfire compared to sating my dreams of blood? And here too in this strange modern world I have committed atrocities, and none have stopped me for long. Again and again the heroes have struck me down, but I am already dead and the lands of the dead reject me.
And then the Rikti came. I fought them along with all the others; blood is blood, whether that of mankind or its enemies. They suffered and died as my victims always do. But I saw how strong they were, and so when the call went out from Hero 1 for volunteers I came.
Are you expecting some tale of how the courage of humanity inspired me and at last I wanted redemption? No. I have chosen to follow Hero 1 because I expect humanity to lose. Even if this plan succeeds, it will be only a matter of time before they gain access to Earth again. And there are too many other dangers...if the Rikti are not the executioners of humanity, something else will be. And then I would be left alone, wandering the dead Earth eternally burning with no sweet blood to bask in. But the Rikti...the Rikti are strong. The Rikti will live, where humanity will not. So, I will go with Hero 1, and I will kill Rikti alongside the others. And then the Rikti will cut us all down.
I will slaughter them as I have slaughtered so many, and they will strike me down as a thousand others have before, and I will rise again as I always have. They will strike me down thinking they have won, not realizing until too late that they have merely inflicted me upon their world instead of yours. I will walk across their lands as I have yours, torturing and murdering, glorying in their blood. And when Earth dies, I will still be there, still killing. I will write the histories of Earth into the flesh of the Rikti, so it shall not be forgotten.
Farewell, and may all your dreams be bloody ones.

Quote:Still is, over in Player Questions.Wasn't there a stickied thread somewhere named "Mob AI, Run Away!" or something like that?

Quote:As I recall, one of the big problems is that they need an extra attachment point on the character skeleton to do it right. That's why temp power backpacks often either float away from the body or are embedded in it; they are just hung off the central point of the skeleton and don't move with the scaling of the body. And at this point, I've decided to give up hope on these options ever coming if modified skeletons with a proper back rig don't come with GR. I understand it was going to take a lot of work. (think it had to do with scaling and some deep level character model modifications, not certain though)

"There is no escape from the Klaus Organization" - MST3K
My opinion: Solos a lot... always has a pack of reindeer with him...associated with winter...clearly he's a Reindeer/Storm Mastermind, with a custom version of Group Flight. Rudolph is no doubt the set specific flavor pet, like Gang War or the Ghost from Necromancy - the nose is probably a laser. Or maybe just boosts accuracy; it was supposed to let Santa see better. It's Rudolph's Tactics toggle. -
-
Assuming we get them, I'd expect that to be for general release not a booster pack. That would require a change to the character skeletons, which would apply to everyone in the game; not some costume pieces that only some get.
-
You know the Devouring Earth that all look like normal trees before they go into combat mode? They should all look like Christmas trees for the season.

Quote:Personally, once i get him I generally use the Lich to take alpha strikes. He seldom dies, produces the best ghost if he does, and debuffs the enemy first anyway.I don't get to self-destruct my henchmen, but I actually lose zombies a lot of the time. They seem to take alpha strikes a lot, and they ARE pretty weak. It's not often I lose a Grave Knight and I almost never lose a Lich, but I often find myself wanting to extract a soul and not being able to because it's still recharging. Pretty much every other death I suffer, I can't extract a soul out of it. I'm just not very careful about it
Usually, I send in the Lich; the Grave Knights right after him. The plain old zombies I generally keep in Defensive/Follow as Bodyguard fodder and ranged vomit dispensers. I only send them in if I think the enemy is thoroughly debuffed and mezzed, and I don't need Bodyguard. -
As far as a use for apartments/personal living spaces goes; if they had a variation of bases with less functionality ( few or no teleporters, etc ) but free or greatly lowered prices for decorative items, that would let people who want to build fancy bases but can't afford to do so. How difficult that would be to set up I don't know.
Supposedly the ability to send items between characters is coming to CoX; one of the things mentioned at Hero Con. -

Quote:Oh, it's useful elsewhere. I use it to avoid debt, to hopefully kill off guys who are going to kill me anyway*, to halfway recharge my health and endurance at low levels in the middle of a fight ( Destruct + the temp self rez power ), etc. And most often, as a teleport-to-hospital power.the self destruction power is pretty much useless except in the sewers.
* By the way; using a defense debuff or eating a yellow greatly increases the chance of doing damage with Self Destruct. Temps/Inherents can't be damage boosted, but can be accuracy boosted. -
Quote:Yes, it's a known problem and a fix is coming.and for some reason my female soldier doesn't have the chest or collar piece anymore, I guess those parts got bugged by the costume devs somehow)

As far as the Northern Lights being "unbeatable"; someone said in game that they phased sometime. That might be why some people thought they are indestructible. I know that I certainly killed some.

Claws/Elec scrapper or brute with wings?

Generally, Tray 4 is where I put desirable temp powers that I don't want to risk accidentally clicking and using time/charges up. Temp pet summons, the Wedding Band, Combat Invisibility, etc. So it varies a lot from character to character.
As it happens, Tray 9 is where I put a lot of what you put in Tray 4. Being 9, it's one click away from Tray 1. In order:
Slot 1: Mystic Fortune
Slot 2: Veteran Pet if chosen
Slot 3: Self Destruction
Slot 4: Ouroboros Portal
Slot 5: Pocket D VIP Pass
Slot 6: Base Transporter
Slot 7: Mission Transporter
Slot 8: Empty or undetermined
Slot 9: Assemble the Team
Tray 5 is generally full of less used temp powers. Tray 6 has powers I basically don't use, like Brawl ( on non-brutes ) or the Origin attack power. Tray 7 is where I put Mastermind and sometimes Controller pet powers and team/pet buffs, in a tray in the bottom center of the screen. -

Oranbega with all the torches could be interesting.

Well, some of it was the mission. Lost bosses tend to be mezz resistant, and Kadabra Kill is somewhat mezz resistant too and can be pretty obnoxious if you don't lock him down or kill him fast. I generally do the two missions of Darrin Wade's that involve them with bosses turned off. Especially the mission you are mentioning, which has multiple bosses and two encounters with two bosses. As for Domination; generally it's something I save until I meet a Boss; not something I try to use every fight. You can build it up by holding a minion or Lt and spamming weak attacks and the hold, by the way.

Well, with Issue 16 we got Super Sidekicking and a revamp of the difficulty settings. On a team, your level is now set to either the team leader, or the mission leader if they aren't the same. So there's no need to spend time searching for mentors. Plus, when exemplared you now keep the 5 levels above you worth of powers; so you can have stamina on a Positron TF, for example. Also, most level restrictions of zones were removed; PvP zones, the Hive/Abyss, Cimeroa and and Ouros are still restricted though.
With the new difficulty settings, you can choose the enemy levels from -1 to +4; you can choose to be treated as from 1-8 villains/heroes even when solo; you can choose if you fight bosses solo; and you can choose if AV enemies spawn as EBs or full AVs. Plus, changing difficulties is free.
NPCs now have faction specific emotes. You get the Walk power ( sexy on girls ) at level 2. And the Martial Arts aka the Natural Pack was released for purchase; with nice costume parts and the excellent Ninja Run power.
As far as customizing powers goes; besides colors Martial Arts and Super Strength got alternate animations. And Dark Armor's stealth power can be set so it doesn't hide your costume.
EDIT: Almost forgot; you can now shut off e-mail, or set it so only friends/SG mates can send it. And among the many details on Going Rogue that came out at Hero Con, Ultra Mode was announced. A nice graphics upgrade; which may come before Going Rogue is released. -
I will not tell new Crab Spiders to salute in order to watch them brain themselves with their robotic arms.
I will not spray Tank Freaks with oil while calling them "Squeaky Freaks".
I will not refer to Fortunatas as "Eraserheads".
I will not teach Wretch to pick up Ghost Widow and hug her and squeeze her and call her George.
I will not call the Devouring Earth treehuggers. Even when they are hugging one and calling it Mommy.
I will not scream "Oh no! Canadians!" upon encountering Longbow.
I will not attempt to spay or neuter the Warwolves.
I will not say to the Vampyri "Aren't you supposed to sparkle?" -
If you want to solo much on a /Kin corruptor, I'd recommend Sonic/. Or if you don't like that, Ice/. A /Kin corr tends to be lacking in solo survivability; a control/debuff heavy primary helps that.

Doctor Tempest: Assault Bot: Typhoon; Protector Bots: Monsoon, Whirlwind; Drones: Cumulus, Nimbostratus, Thunderhead. -
It's the name of my in-game global and first character; Obscure Blade on Guardian. A Broadsword/Regen, picked because that seemed a good combo for a new player. The "Blade" of course referred to the sword, and "Obscure" to my being totally unknown in the game. For some time I was "ObscureGuy" on the forum itself; when the new forums were announced I decided I wanted something a bit more superish sounding, so I changed my name to Obscure_Blade, and then had the underscore removed when the chance was offered.
Obscure Blade the character only recently reached 32, and in fact only reached 10 a bit after Safeguards were introduced. I stopped playing him for a very long time, since both his build and costume were badly done. Not knowing that the "X" button in the costume maker unlocked color choices from being matched all over the character made my early characters look odd.
