Because it's a better power for a Bots/Traps. My Bots/Traps has Triage and Heal Other; Triage constantly heals all the Bots, keeping them from being ground away faster than I can keep up with a single target heal, and helps keep them alive when hit with DoT damage that makes Aid Other unreliable or unusable. It also is nice when hit with an AoE attack.

So far, I'd say my favorites would be Arch/Storm*, Thugs/TA, and Illusion/TA. Plant/TA is good too.
* This combo hasn't been mentioned yet, I think. Storm debuffs and knockback work well with Archery; keeping me alive, letting me do more damage. Although purple Fortunata bosses still hurt ( some kicked my tail, last I played ). And soon I'll be able to stack Stunning Shot and Thunder Clap to stun bosses ( I understand that should work ). And I have hopes for the effectiveness of Rain of Arrows combined with Freezing Rain. -
Not really. History is written by the historians, because they are the people who are still around to do it long after winner and loser are both gone. Which is how quite a few winners end up looking bad in the history books.

Quote:Well, a certain percentage of people are psychopaths. If I could read their minds I might well decide they were sick; but I certainly wouldn't consider them good. If their reasoning consists of "Why not? I felt like skinning my mother for a pair of boots so I did", then knowing their reasoning isn't going to make them more sympathetic. This is why I have a long-standing theory that if we could ALL hear each other's thoughts, or at least UNDERSTAND each other fully, then we'd realize that all the things we do are "good".
Well, not exactly GOOD, but at the very least, not evil. Because deep in our heart of hearts, no one believes that they, or the things that they do, are evil. At least no one sane could live with themselves with such thoughts. So I strongly believe that everyone really believes that what they are doing is good.
Now that doesn't excuse them, mind you, but it does make you wonder about the reasoning behind decisions that some call "evil". If you can get inside the head of a person that does "evil" things, I mean REALLY get inside their head... will you still believe that those things are evil once you understand the motivations and reasoning behind them? -

Quote:I seem to recall reading somewhere that the whip does fire/toxic, actually.Yeah, but her whip will most likely do all Lethal. And Infernal has lollethal res.
Quote:Although I do like Desdemona, I'd say Infernal would win.
The reason is already mentioned and I'd expect the battle to go something like this:
Anchorman in newsroom: ITS the BIG BATTLE OF .. err "Heroes". Lets see them in action. Infernal vs DEeesDemona!
Des: So it is a fight you want?
Infernal: Not really, but we have become forced to this... Not that I don't mind...
Des: Very well, lets get this over quickly then *summons demons*
Go get him my minions!
Infernal: Thank you Lady! *binds them into his armor*
Des: ... Wh.. Tha.. Thats cheating (as she sees the demons vanish).
Infernal: Will you surrender?
Des: ... n.. No! I still have my whip! Taste my fire! *Lets her Whip lounge towards Infernal and it hits. She expects to see him burn with pain. If there was any pain it is quickly gone.
Infernal: Thank you again Lady. *Is suddenly aflame of his own power* I did forget to be all big and menacing! *Slow, hard strides*
Now though it is my turn!
*Infernal spawns some demons of his own and draws his axe*
Des: ... oh.. thats not even fair!
*Infernal punches himself*
Infernal: "Ow! What?!"
Des: : "Never tried binding demons under the control of someone else into your armor before, have you?"
*Infernal punches himself again*
Infernal: "OW! Dammit!"
Anchorman in newsroom: "Well, that's an unexpected setback! Wil Infernal manage to override her control of his armor or...hey, what's she making him do-"
*CRUNCH!*
Infernal: "AHHHHHGH!"
Anchorman in newsroom: "Oooh, that's gotta hurt!" -
Quote:Yes; I have several Earth/ control users who do that. I also have one named Crystalmist, Earth/Cold whose backstory is "molecular control" more or less; her powers are supposedly "utility fog" nanite clouds condensed to various densities.I havent messed around with customising Earth Control, but wouldn't this make a really good candidate for Molecular Control already in that you're basically creating solids and gasses around your opponents?
Is it possible to make, say, your hold look like crystal and the immobilise look like rock or metal or something else? -
Desdemona; she's a /Dark Mastermind. Stun his demons with Howling Twilight, slap Darkest Night on him, kill his demons before the stun wears off. Then spam Twilight Grasp to keep the henchdemons healthy and Infernal's regen down. Grind his health away until victory!

The difference, as I understand it is while just about everything resists S/L damage, the things that resist Psi tend to resist it a lot. Plus, Psi users tend to be squishies while S/L users tend to be scrappers and such; non squishies can typically survive being pounded on a few extra times while they grind through that S/L resistance.
-
Quote:Worse; they have both resistance AND Defense against Psi.I am pretty sure Carnies are psi-resistant.
Either that, or I am imagining those nightmares I still have about soloing them on a Psi/Mental Blaster.
Quote:Carnival of Shadows have defense to Psionic attacks, are resistant to Psionic damage but vulnerable to Lethal damage. -

Quote:I haven't tried the stalker version. But I find Repel useful on my Sonic/Corruptor Kin. It knocks back anything that isn't mezzed and gets close - without waking up other slept targets. It's autohit. I sometimes find it useful for shoving outlying enemies further together so I can sleep them all. And it knocks down bosses. I just need to turn it off when I use a /Kin power that needs to be used close up. This is for my solo build, mind; on my team version I'll have Speed Boost instead.7 pages and no stalker /ea Repulse and /kinetics Repel?
Repulse is really repulsive.
Bottom line; I wouldn't rate it as one of the worst powers because while it's a niche power, what it does it does pretty well and with minimal slotting. Unlike, say, World of Confusion. -
Quote:That is an argument for buffing Defenders, not for forbidding a powerset to Controllers. Also, I have to say this, though it may be unpopular, but I don't think they should give Dark Miasma to Controllers. Taking the most control oriented Defender set and giving it to controllers would just be another kick in the shins to Defenders in the whole "Controllers are better than Defenders" argument.

Energy Blast/Super Strength Blaster.
Gravity/Traps Controller.
A Mastermind Pets ( with armors replacing the personal attacks )/Assault class.
Insect control, or an insect based buff/debuff set. Send swarms to harass and drain your enemies, that sort of thing.
Staff fighting. -
Very useful, both for stacking -tohit on an enemy, and for disabling most enemies with fear if necessary. The fact that it needs little slotting to be useful is also good.
-
Quote:ok one more unrelated question, does power boost from the patron powers affect -resists and -defence powers? i couldnt find it on mids, and it doesnt have a toggle thing so you can look like build up doesQuote:It also effects heals, defence buffs (without a res component), tohit de/buffs and end drain. Mid's does list them, but you have to view the specific details from the database.

Quote:I don't think so. Science origin means that you've had something "scientific" done to you ( like the Hulk, for example; zapped by gamma rays ).Poison would sit under the Science origin, if you're considering the chemistry side of it
Quote:Basically, I'm trying to decide if the fact she uses technology for some things makes her more like the Arachnos Soldiers, or more like Iron Man. It's clear that a lot of her powers just come from her own training. I'm curious: what origin would you assign to Batman? Or James Bond? -
The person who posted that mentions that in the video description; "(Note: TP works weird in demorecords for some reason.)"
-
And a -recharge component.
Quote:An AoE slow with bottom of the barrel -Recharge that combines the worst features of an anchor power with those of a power on recharge. By far the worst of the various pure-AoE slows available (Shiver--even the Blaster version, Quicksand, Snow Storm).
But it's still a hold, and a hold in a secondary at that; which allows for easy stacking with a hold in your primary.
None of these are the best powers no; but none are the worst, either. -
Quote:Some of those just got put in with different names; I recall that the proposed name for the Freakshow was the Horrorshow. In fact I recall running across a Freak commenting something like "I really wanted Horrorshow, but Freakshow's OK." Killing Crew became Sky Raiders I believe.I'm personally more interested in all of those villain groups that obviously got cut out.
Seraphim? Revelation? Twilight Men? Killing Crew? Fear Factor?
I'd love to see what these villain groups may have been.
Found an old thread related to this. Someone says they think that "Twilight Men" became Malta, and Fear Factor became the Carnival of Shadows. -
Quote:Huh? An immobilize with a recharge slow, an AoE slow, and a Hold are hardly bad. The only really bleh power among those four is Flash Arrow.I think the first four powers in Trick Arrow might actually deserve an honorable mention in here, Trickshooter. I wouldn't call any of them "the single worst powers" individually, but together I think they do form the "single worst opening powers" of any set out there, IMO.

Quote:Click on one, and hit it with a heal, buff, or upgrade power and it should reappear in your pet window; or if it gets attacks. It seems to be an interface problem ( let's hope that's fixed in Issue 17 ); the pets are still yours. Also, I find that zoning will often make the pets reappear in my window.1) Every single time I leave an instanced mission I have zero control over pets. No pets show in my pets window, I can't make them do anything or even dismiss them.
As for the elevator bug, dismissing them and resummoning them inside the mission seems to prevent it, as said. -
