Both combos work well. Mind/Energy does work especially well solo, with the combination of Mass Hypnosis and the single target focus of /Energy.

They are definitely a set that would benefit from a graphics upgrade, or even better customization. I'd like to have some that looked like members of a supervillain organization; more like Hydra or COBRA instead of vanilla guys with guns.

I agree. They aren't really "gimp", because they are Masterminds after all. But they are noticeably inferior to the other sets.

Quote:That's how I find it. You drop it before a tough fight; you don't wait until after the fight has started.Been pretty happy with it. It provides more healing than I originally thought, the key is that it's SLOW healing. If it's down at the start of the pull and you can keep your pets near it, it's pretty good. If you try to drop it when half your pets are under half health, it's pretty useless.
My Bots/Traps has both Aid Other and Triage and finds both useful. Aid Other is better at healing large chunks of damage on one bot; Triage is good at keeping your bots from being whittled away. Aid Other can only heal one Bot, is interruptable and keeps you from using other powers. Triage lacks those weaknesses. It's no showstopper but I find it useful.
If there's one buff I think that would help, it would be to make it mobile. If it followed you around then it would be much more useful on teams. -
I intend to move both ways; I want to play Dominators and Masterminds blueside and Controllers redside.

Here's something that always annoyed/amused me:
Quote:Yeah, except for that whole eight foot tall and wearing a uniform thing. That sure helps them blend in and avoid suspicion. The Cor Leonis of the Penumbra have transcended mere special ops stats. They are each unto themselves a powerful covert force, capable of taking on operations that would normally require an entire team of commandos. In addition to their enhanced physical and mental attributes, they receive training in security systems, computer infiltration, and surveillance equipment. In many ways, they are the perfect spies. -
Quote:Nope, it has a cone attack with -Def, Fling Thorns.Eh, six of one, half a dozen of the other- Achilles' Heel is far more likely to go off in Freezing Rain than on the 'trap, simply because it's AoE, while the Flytrap's attacks are (almost?) all single-target.
Quote:Entangle (Ranged, AoE, DoT(Smash), DoT(Lethal), Immobilize, -Knockback)
Thorny Darts (Ranged, single target, Lethal, DoT(Toxic), -Def)
Fling Thorns (Ranged, Cone, Lethal, DoT(Toxic), -Def)
Bite (Melee, single target, Lethal, DoT(Toxic), -Def) -
I was worried it was me, or that they'd been hacked, since when I switched from trying and failing to log on to the forums to accessing my account I got a security alert from Firefox.

Quote:Maybe not. The Trap is active all the time not sporadically like FR. And putting it in the Trap means you don't need to add Accuracy to Freezing Rain (the proc checks to see if it has hit before the Rain debuffs anything). The 'trap is high enough damage that proccing it out is probably a bit of a waste of time... although the Achilles' Heel proc might not be a bad idea, as I think that all of the Flytrap's attacks benefit from it (mind you, if you've just got the one, you're better off putting it in Freezing Rain, I think).

I wouldn't call them minor tweaks really. Especially turning Clobber into a major damage power as well as a stun; suddenly Mace got a hefty jolt in the single target damage department.

Quote:If any of that was aimed at me, no I'm not in Closed Beta.It really makes me laugh to see people who have all these insights into a short video. Miraculous "guesses" that are probably dead on. Basically Closed Beta testers that are taunting the rest of us with there little drops of inspiration. Oh you guys dropping your hints. You are just too cool for school aren't you? Yes the video was awesome if not too short. But geez enough is enough with these veiled hints. I call shenanigans on the beta testers.

I don't know "Canada Joe". But what you see is not necessarily what other people see, such as the objects summoned by Propel which are created client side and different for everyone. They could have these new contacts become invisible for the person for whom they are "dead", and visible for everyone else.

Ooo, nice video. The still pictures don't seem to be working though.
Interesting that contacts can die. -

As far as the sleep goes, well designed sleep powers can be quite good. For example, Mass Hypnosis is nice since it's ranged and produces zero aggro. Mesmerize on the other hand is nice because it has a magnitude high enough to sleep a Boss and fairly high damage. If, say, this new power turns out to be a placeable patch version of Mass Hypnosis or a high damage AoE sleep I'd take it.

Quote:I'm a living example of that. Especially due to the recent sale on Steam, I've got a bunch of other games I'm fooling around with at the moment. But my subscription is still active, I prepurchased GR, and when GR goes live I'll be all over it.Server population is going to be at its lowest now. Before a big release many long-term players take a break.
I thiunk that GR will help with low population problems, such as there are by allowing more characters to participate in events; one of the few actual problems I see in lower-pop servers is getting a large enough team together for non co-op game events, especially villainside. Villains plus rogues plus vigilantes is likely to be a larger number than villains alone.
Personally, I'd like to see some sort of pseudo-serverless system. You'd still have servers, to preserve the existence of distinct server cultures and so on. But you could enter a gate to visit an "alternate universe" aka another server, and you'd get a temporary name like "Red Shredder of Protector" to avoid conflict with any "Red Shredder" on the server you are visiting. This would allow people to make characters on low-pop servers and still play with their friends and see the crowds on the hi-pop servers. -
Yes, having two or more "cape systems" on a character apparently significantly hits performance.

Quote:Um, you aren't supposed to mention you are in closed beta at all, if it's like other closed betas.I found the post I was look for and it was by Avatea. It was not stated directly, but since it is in the closed beta forums I don't dare say more than I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that Issue 18 will come out at the same time as, or very closely to the time GR releases (before or after, hard to say).
Quote:Going Rogue contains Praetoria, the new power sets, the start of the Incarnate system and the side switching system - you will need to own a copy of GR to access them.
They might revamp some older content to be the main part of the free Issue though - the new Positron Tf was very well received by a lot of players., so they could be intending to fix some other troublesome content for I18. -
As far as I know they've never actually said Issue 18 is coming out with Going Rogue, or even named it. But they have said Issue 19 is tentatively named Incarnates and will involve the Incarnate System that Going Rogue lays the groundwork for. Issue 18 coming out at the same time as Going Rogue is an assumption based on what happened with CoV.

Quote:That's been scrapped. The reason I ask is because I thought they said that those items went into a special storage when a character swapped sides and would be returned if and when the character switched back.
Quote:Q: So what will happen to my inf when my characters switch alignments? Previously were heard about some sort of escrow system, will that still happen?
A: No. Influence/Infamy/Information, Salvage, Enhancements, and Recipes will not be escrowed. Your character will retain all their possessions and inf when they transfer sides. -
Well, it's supposed to already be in the "family and friends" phase of Closed Beta. That's time for nearly two months more of testing.
