When you have a pet that spams cone attacks, it is fairly questionable yes. And IIRC it also generates aggro, so you can't even use it for stealthing. Now if they turned it into a pulsing sleep effect like Static Field that would be different, but I can't see them giving Plant/ a second really good AoE control power.

If we are talking concept, Axe/Dark; you are now the Angel of Death, reaping the living...

Hmmm. Perhaps an Earth/Fire dom. Loads of AoE control and slow/def/acc debuffs which are helpful on teams. And you'll put out enough damage to help on teams and do well solo too. Plus, everyone on the team will notice, Earth/ isn't exactly subtle. And it has really nice power customization options too.

The low level "defeat ten Circle of Thorns in Perez" mission; no, I don't want to fight large CoT spawns with Madness Mage bosses and me with no mezz protection yet.
The endless hunt missions heroside in the 20-24 level range. Individually most aren't so bad, but there are so many of them.
The Defeat 20 Council in the Pit mission in Sharkhead, which almost always shows up when even minions there are purple to you. -
Quote:The one against Clockwork, from Marshal Brass? Having to fight all those endurance drainers before you have Stamina might be one reason you don't like it.My personal hell: Escort Hostages on the PTS map. Actually, ANY mission on that map. I can't quite pin down why, but I hate HATE that one with a passion.
There's one on the same map I think from the RWZ, where you have to find hostages guarded by Rikti. That one is irritating because the hostages are very difficult to see - it always seems to be night in that mission - and the Rikti Drones make roaming around looking for them without constant fighting impractical even with stealth. It turns the mission into a "kill most", if not a "kill all". -
Quote:Part of the problem is that it is apparently bugged now, Mender Lazarus won't help you destroy the thing. On a related note, that one Ouroborous intro arc where you have to destroy the meteor. It's so incredibly boring on my lower-damage characters...
On the other hand, at least the Shivan Destroyer guarding him isn't an EB anymore. -
My Fortunata Weaver of Sorrows has already gone Hero. Her backstory is that she was recruited as a girl for her psychic potential, her parents killed to get them out of the way, and brainwashed into a loyal minion. She earned her name because of the webs of despair and chaos she wove through the minds of the enemies of Arachnos. However, her constant contacts with the minds of others, especially psychics, eroded her brainwashing until she broke free and remembered her early life and what happened to her parents. She turned against Arachnos and set forth to be its diametric opposite, and to be someone her parents could have been proud of.
Steel Spider my Crab/Bane did. She is a fanatic, ideologically committed to Arachnos and its extreme Social Darwinism. In fact, she forced herself into the Destined One program because she found the very idea of liberating supercriminals from prison and letting them loose on the Isles horrifying; if they were worthy, they'd have escaped on their own. She considered that a betrayal of the ideals of Arachnos, whether Recluse ordered it done or not. So she set out to prove that she was better than any of them. -
Offhand, my least favorite missions would be the various Kill Everything on the Ship missions, and the Defeat Patient Zero mission where you have Wasting Disease, don't have Stamina, and are fighting Vahzilok. I almost always autocomplete that one.
The "find the one enemy in the giant outdoor flooded city map" missions are also irritating. And all the timed kill alls in various high level Peregrine missions (I don't know if the revamped arcs kept those). And all the "kill fifty of X" hunt missions in higher level, older content. -

Quote:That's what I understand. <googles> Here's a claim that that's where the term originated.Doesnt shard come from ultima online? I think i recall reading that the opening cutscene had some villan smashing reality or a reality gem or something and lots of differnt shards occuring as a result... or something like that
Quote:The usage originated with the Ultima Online story, where each of the game's servers were said to be different images of the world, trapped in the shattered shards of a mystic gem (originally conceived in 1980 for Ultima I, this event is mentioned many times throughout the Ultima series). -
Quote:I always assumed that WAS canon. And funny enough, all the different servers are called: "Shards" as though referencing in-game that the different servers are canon and just alternate shards of the same universe.
"Shard" is an old MMORPG term by the way, well predating CoX, and as I recall originally was based on the idea of servers as different "alternate universes". So I assume it is the same here. -

Quote:Ourosboros is all about changing history; that seems to qualify.2)Until you can find anything, in game or out, which even hints at an arc ceasing to be canon when it's moved to Ouroboros, you haven't got a leg to stand on.
As for the old Praetoria arcs, it isn't necessary to go as far as calling the new Praetoria a retcon. Rather than calling them a "misinterpretation", the old arcs make much more sense if regarded as an alternate version of the new Praetoria, one where they went even farther to the dark side. An "alternate, alternate universe", to quote Jack O'Neil of Stargate.
If I were in charge of canon, that's the route I'd go; and I'd maybe have some minor NPCs make in game comments about it. "Remember that alternate variant of Praetoria the higher ups had us seal off? 'Psycho-Praetoria' they were calling it." -
Or maybe it was interdimensional physics, not magic that did the split. If universes split off from each other into alternate versions according to different outcomes of historical events, then the same principle could cause interdimensional travelers with poorly controlled trajectories to arrive in multiple universes as alternate versions of themselves; since they could arrive in any one of many universes, they arrive in all of them. Which could be awkward when they all try to go back to the same home dimension...

Hmmm. The last time I was involved in anything that needed the help of a GM, it was in the last Halloween Event with the bugged Giant Monster* spawn in Cap, where it would spawn under Aeon City. A GM showed up in time for the assembled teams to get the badge for beating it; she told everyone to get ready and yoinked it out of the ground. Everyone beat the Giant Monster down and cheered the GM. Something like GM Sharon? A female name starting with "S".
* Written out in full because I realized I was writing about a GM helping us beat up a GM. -

Quote:Personally I find having both upgrade powers two slotted with endurance reduction useful, in case I need to resummon and re-buff while low on endurance in a fight. And no, don't bother slotting it. Just toss 1 end redux in it and call it good.
And yes, being able to buff your minions all at once is a great tedium reducer compared to the old days. I'd love it if they gave the same treatment to /FF and /Therm single target shields. -

It's not oceanic, but I also have a Lovecraftian magic/horror themed corruptor named Uj-Sothath with recolored Dark/Dark. Lots of greens, purples, yellows...I was thinking more The Colour Out Of Space than Deep Ones with him.

My Fire/TA isn't high enough, but my Illusion/TA just got Oil Slick and I checked. Phantom Army does still run out of the Slick but no worse than that. Probably Imps do the same; although interestingly Phantasm floated quite happily over the flaming Slick.

Quote:Nonsense. They put in the queue system because for years Freedom and Virtue and sometimes other servers would be crushed by the incoming hordes on a semiregular basis with in-game events and issue launches. Having to wait in a queue is better than the server crashing, which is what used to happen. In it's heyday this games servers never really got THAT full except for releases of i9-12 and those days are gone for this game. The queue system was designed primarily to hype the game, only on the new "expansion's" release day had I had to use the queue system to login to freedom.

Miss Skinless, my Dark Melee/Regen has her powers all colored red. She's not restoring her health by draining her enemies with the power of the netherworld; she's ripping the blood from their bodies. She's not scaring them with otherworldly energies, she's scary because she's a homicidal lunatic with no skin coming for your face.
The One From Outside my Dark Blast/Storm is a living gateway between dimensions, and is flinging matter drawn from that alien dimension at its enemies, as well as weather drawn from that other world. Nothing it does has a remotely "negative energy" or normal-weather look to it.
The Contaminated Man my Fire/Earth Dom has everything colored green and purple to look toxic. His Earth attacks use the lava skin.
Crystalsnare my Ice Blast/Traps uses purple and green "ice" that's supposed to be advanced polymers.
Lethal Contamination my Ice/Rad Corr (named after the label on the containment vessel he was found in) also uses odd colored ice to look poisonous.
Lady Stormwraith my Elec Melee/Dark Armor scrapper uses purples and blues for her /DA for a more "cloud of charged air" look.
Crystalmist my Earth/Cold Controller is supposedly condensing the "utility fog" cloud of nanites surrounding her into denser forms, not controlling earth.
Shatterbright the Ice/Psi Dom isn't controlling ice, she's manipulating a psi-sensitive crystalline dust that she exudes from her body.
At least half of the Elec/ powers of Revenant Wrath my Elec/Rad Controller use Dark Electricity and are supposed to be the energies of death.
Malignant Flame my Fire/Rad Corruptor has recolored Dark Fire Breath for a nice "breathing forth contamination" look.
