  1. Haven't you ever heard of the old Good Cop/Bad Cop interrogation technique? Those are the Good Cops.
  2. Obscure Blade

    Why no /sonic?

I don't think the devs have said. My guess is since they've been proliferating one secondary at a time, they started with the ones least like what MMs already had. So, MMs get /Storm first, while they've put /Sonic on a backburner because there's already a "bubble" set in the form of /FF.

That just seems... well... Contradictory, I mean DJ Zero's about as inert as most gases, why would the Well favor him?
Even the Well likes to party now and then.

Oh, it was definitely an actual MM; I soon found him near his pet, once I realized it was a pet. And his bio talked about "Yes, I really am a Mastermind, got here because of a bug, and I'm waiting for the GMs to get around to sending me to villainside".

Well, you could solo all the time, or set up language specific SGs or server global channels.

Altitis, it's not a disease, it's an adventure.
2-4 servers, depending on what languages you read. I don't read French or German, so will "only" get useful access to two more servers.

It's even funnier when you show up with a guy who has a tail and is a Fire Armor brute; "Oh, hi Dad; I see you have a tail and are on fire tonight. Tough day at work?"

It also has a cone sleep in Siren's Song, which makes it far more survivable solo. You can knock out a whole spawn and kill them one by one; or knock them out, /kin buff yourself off of them without waking them, and cut loose with your nuke.

    "Quick, Everyone, gank the brute!"
It reminds me of the time years ago that a bug sent a Ninja mastermind heroside. I met him in the Hollows, and was standing around looking at what I thought was some character named "Genin" and being impressed how well he'd copied the Ninja henchman!

I'd say the opposite; Air Superiority + Fly is a useful combination for a Plant/, since it lets you reach fliers and knock them down into your groundbound powers.
  12. I'd say that either 1 -kb IO or 3 is what you want; 1 IO will protect you from most things, and there's little or nothing that 2 IOs will stop that 1 won't. There isn't much that is over 4 points kb but under 9; so the 8 points from 2 IOs isn't much use.

Sure; some of them are useful for hunt missions (like the costume slot & aura missions at 30); and once they are unlocked by that, might as well use 'em. Also, you can sell to them without unlocking them, and last I checked you still got more inf for selling enhancements to a matching store.
  14. I find that the Lich helps a lot even before 32; he's a good alpha eater, being both hard to kill and debuffing his attackers. Plus if he dies you get a high quality ghost. My Necro/Poison was much better after getting him.

    From the Diviner Maros arc:

    Quote:
Calystix the Shaper, also called Calystix the Zealot. The first records of a priest called Calystix date from ancient Rome, where a Legion discovered an ancient temple to a Cult of the Shaper. This cult was led by a high priest called Calystix, who ordered the townspeople to slay the Legion. The soldiers were nearly overcome, but they won and put the temple and the town to the torch for their abhorrent practices. Later records of a Cult of the Shaper led by Calystix re-occur in the middle ages, and again during the Enlightenment. The last known occurrence of the Cult was in a small Massachusetts fishing village in the 1920s, though it's unknown if it was lead by a priest called Calystix, as the cult was destroyed by the American Navy for crimes of piracy and cannibalism.
The underlined is a definite shout-out to Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos.

Destroy the arms and it loses main weapons, but starts firing missiles from it's torso and lasers from it's head. Destroy one leg it gets a 50% speed penalty and loses any stomp attack it had, destroy the other and it's immobile. Destroy the torso to stop the missile barrage and make the head vulnerable. Finish off for coup de grace.

Unless theres some major tech hurdles in the way there (there may well be) I see no reason that it couldn't work.
It's my understanding that Lusca only works because it is in reality nine GMs that spawn close together, but not attached. I doubt that a giant robot whose body parts float unattached to each other is what you are looking for.
  17. My first was Obscure Blade the Broadsword/Regen. Blade because of the sword, Obscure because I was just that, being new to the game. I didn't play him too much, being hit with altitis from the start; he's still only in his low-30s after all this time. His original costume wasn't much to write home about; I was one of those people who took a while to realize that un-clicking the little "X" lets you use more than two colors, so he started out as a grey and purple guy from head to toe.

    /Shield. It has 'Elemental' customizations:

A Fire/ or Electric/ Shield scrapper would be both very nasty and fit an 'elemental warrior' them perfectly with the right customization. So would a Stone/Shield Brute, although the endurance consumption would be pretty impressive I'd think; and Brutes don't get as much from Shield Charge.

Yes, that's what the Giant Mekmen on Test were about; something about experimenting with ways to target bigger critters properly.
  20. For /Poison, Thugs is the best primary followed by Necro. Mercenaries doesn't go well with it at all. You want something you can send into melee with the Tier 9 active /Poison power on it, and the higher the tier of the pet, the stronger the debuff is. So Thugs is perfect for that, with the Bruiser; plus you have a guy you can send in every fight to eat the alpha, and heal with your single target heal. Leveling up to the Bruiser is fairly painful though; at least it won't be as bad as it was pre-Inherent Fitness.
  21. Yet another "yes" vote, it is a perennial "what do you want in the next Issue" desire of mine.

Yes it is, if they are offline, or in a TF, or if you don't have any close friends in the game. Or perhaps you don't want to bug them about it for the 98th time.

I find it seriously irritating to have to go though my one person SGs, change all the storage permissions to avert theft, broadcast for some stranger to help, hope they don't screw up the invite process, and if then if the invite is actually accomplished having to make sure to change all the permissions back once they are gone. It makes what should be a simple, straightforward process much more awkward and irritating than it needs to be.

Not just finances. You may have been joking with your first sentence but it is actually an important concern. With a monthly subscription model, the devs and NC Soft need to worry that they will lose our interest and therefore our money; with a lifetime subscription model they already have our money. The implied threat of us taking our money and leaving is a constant drive to maintain and improve the game to keep that money rolling in.

Well, Castle got a better offer apparently and left; that could easily have put a crimp in any plans they had for putting out new or proliferated powersets. Not that a new round of proliferation wouldn't make me happy.

A lot of people seem to think that "dev" is some kind of generic job. Sort of like a movie "scientist" who is just that, a generic scientist; he doesn't have any field of expertise, he has a degree in Science!

I recall the exchange a while back between BaB and some guy who was complaining that he was making new animations instead of fixing some bug; BaB responded with something like "Yeah, I'll just animate it away."

I'd like that. For example, Recluse is an Incarnate; there could be an Arachnos centered Incarnate TF (or just add the feature to the Statesman TF) that grants you the power to summon Arachnos pets. Or beating the ITF could let you summon Cimeroans, or perhaps Cyclops/Minotaurs - several of the high level TFs could easily be "repurposed" as Incarnate-related content. They already have as a degree after all, with the Incarnate component salvage.

There could also be an "Incarnate Challenge Setting", sort of like the "Master of" setting that seriously buffs the difficulty of those TFs so that even Incarnates find them a challenge. Beating them on that difficulty could be what unlocks the pets.
