Same as before? Protect against status effects and increase the mags of our controls?

Castle has posted in the Issue 15 Dom Buffs thread, here among other places.

    [ QUOTE ]
Specifics will have to wait for the Training Room. The gist of it lies with removing the Damage Bonus from Domination, and adding that to the Base Damage values for the AT. There are other things going into it, but that's the major change.

    Something like this:

    <font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>
    Difference @ lvl 20 Old Old+Dom New
    Bonesmasher 52.72 78.91 88.21 Assuming 51% increase from Enhancements
Power Bolt 27.86 41.70 40.72 Assuming 51% increase from Enhancements
    Difference @ lvl 50
    Bonesmasher 134.07 185.37 224.31 Assuming 96% increase from Enhancements
Power Bolt 70.85 97.96 103.55 Assuming 96% increase from Enhancements
    </pre><hr />

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Note that Bonesmasher's damage doesn't line up correctly with the Damage Scalar increase, because Castle's modifying /EA independently.

The old:new damage on Bonesmasher would indicate that Melee was buffed from 0.75 to 1.25 when in reality it got buffed to 1.05.

    Underwater base?

The way I did my underwater lab was I built rooms within the rooms using desks and the SG glass panels for windows, then I set all the room styles to very dark blue. Walls/Floors/Lighting, everything.

That simulates having an exterior for the base.

I'll see if I can find images of the base I did. (I no longer have the base, but I did help someone build a replica of it, so if you'd like to work out a time I could give you a tour of it.)

Here's a post showing the Exterior of the lab itself. Normally the room would be a dark blue, but I had to turn the lights up so that you could see things clearly in the screenshots.

Here's a link to a post containing more screens of that room.
  10. Numbers in Arabic are still read from left to right, despite the fact that Arabic is read from right to left.

EDIT: Rather I should say they're still written from left to right, with the smallest elements to the right. For instance the number one-hundred twenty-three is still written 123, not 321.

    Earth Blast??

AH, I see where the confusion comes in, that's Hurl Boulder OR Propel Boulder, whichever people liked most... otherwise the powerset would have 10 powers.

I put two options for the 3rd tier blast there because someone specifically mentioned they didn't like/want Hurl Boulder in the set.

As for Mudpots, I just assumed it would be a direct port of the existing power. For tankers it deals 8.01damage/2seconds base. For Blaster that would be ~9damage/2seconds base.
  12. Oathbound

    Earth Blast??

Without having damage/recharge/activation numbers right in front of us there's no way we could say one way or another if it would overshadow any other set.

Ryolite could easily have trivial damage, making it akin to Freeze Ray/Tesla Cage, or a stupid long activation/recharge and minor/moderate damage like Bitter Freeze Ray, either way it would not make an effective blast. So that limits you to the standard 3 single target blasts.

As for having 3 AoEs (there's no reason to count the nuke unless it's akin to Full Auto or Rain of Arrows, which it shouldn't be), AR, Fire and Radiation (Admittedly not yet available to Blasters) already have that many or more.

Most sets have more control than fire, and I -highly- doubt this set would have more damage than fire, especially considering fire's secondary effect is MOAR DAMAGE. (Fire's AoEs match up perfectly, 1 cone, 1 aoe, 1 Location aoe [still not counting the nuke].)

Smashing is also of course far more resisted than fire.

Ice would still have comparable single target damage, and while they wouldn't have as much AoE, Ice has always traded off aoe for it's added control.

Edit: Also, if the version of Mudpots included in your suggestion is just tanker's Mudpots adjusted to Blaster damage, then your set proposal -also- has 3 AoEs outside of the nuke. Blaster level mudpots would deal almost as much damage over 16 seconds as Fireball.

Ultimately it's not as if anything we post here is really going to matter

If I were Recluse I'd wonder how I ended up in the only dimension with a "good" Statesman

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's to LR's benefit to be here. At least with a good Statesman who upholds the law and has to follow "the rules" LR has already carved out a reasonable powerbase and can continue working on plans.
When you have to spend all of your time fighting off opponents who are just as powerful and ruthless (if not more so) as yourself, you don't really have time for empire building.
Cooperation is rare in that kind of environment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A very good point. Tyrant and Reichsman not being constrained by morality, I'd bet that the Recluses of those worlds were beaten to death with their own detached limbs fairly early in their super-villain careers.

Sure you'll occasionally see the Seekers clip through someone or something, but that's a trivial side effect for bots not getting stuck on them anymore.
  15. I'd have to say I really don't like the sound of that.

I would probably simply come to view it as "I only have 95endurance" and I think that would become a very common perception.

    Earth Blast??

Combining the set ideas put forth so far...

    Earthen Blast
    1) Shards -- Single target attack [Lethal Damage]
    2) Rock Blast -- Single target attack [Smashing Damage]
    3) Gravel -- (The actual name of the Igneous's Cone attack) [Smashing Damage]
    4) Aim
    5) Hail of Stones (Rain-based AoE with knockdown like EQ) [Smashing Damage]
    6) Hurl Boulder -- Heavy Hitter Single target attack (Blaze/BiB/Power Burst) [Smashing Damage]
    OR
    6) Propel Boulder -- (A sped up version of the Propel Rocks power that Legacy Chain NPCs use) [Smashing Damage]
    7) Ryolite -- (Again, the actual name of the Igneous Hold power) [Fire Damage]
    8) Stalagmites -- (Something akin to the Tanker APP version, primarily a damage attack, with a chance to stun (if any)) [Lethal Damage]
    9) Volcano -- Nuke [Fire Damage?]

    [ QUOTE ]
Take the existing animation for the 'Fortune' power from the Magic booster, and change the power visuals so that, instead of a whirling shroud of cards, you have either a whirling shroud of stones (dealing Smashing damage) or crystal shards (dealing a mix of Smashing and Lethal damage).

    [/ QUOTE ]

This actually sounds like it would make a very good animation for a damage toggle for Earth Manipulation...

    Earth Manipulation
    1) Stone Prison [Smashing Damage]
    2) Stone Mallet [Smashing Damage]
    3) ? -- PBAoE Toggle as quoted above.... completely at a loss for a name though... [Smashing/Lethal Damage]
    4) Build Up
    5) Heavy Mallet [Smashing Damage]
    6) Aftershock -- PBAoE Knockdown No damage/No other effects
    7) Quicksand
    8) Fault
    9) Seismic Smash [Smashing Damage]

    Earth Mastery
    1) Rock Armor
    2) Salt Crystals
    3) Fossilize [Smashing Damage]
    4) Granite Armor -- Automatically toggles off after X amount of time and has a very long recharge. (sort of like Hibernate/Phase Shifts)
    5) Earth's Embrace

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been DYING to try a psi/dev I'm just not ready to build another blaster yet. Workin on a tank and coupla scraps. next blaster will def. be a Psi/Dev, meanwhile if you want a non-popular but amazing to play blaster go Ice/Elec it truly was a beauty from 1-50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've made a couple Psi/Devs (but my altitis, combined with my quickly growing bored with Blasters keeps seeing me delete them and start something else/start over).

Concept wise, my Psi/dev is a rogue Fortunata who defected from Arachnos, and has basically been forced into becoming a Hero. (Because Arachnos is after him, and he needs to be on good terms with the other Heroes so they can help/protect him, so he has to constantly prove that he's a good guy now.)

Go make a DB/Stone Armor tank. thats something I don't think I've ever seen.

  18. [ QUOTE ]
However, if you're below some value -- I'm thinking 5 or 10 -- you would be in a fatigued state, and all your powers would be reduced in effectiveness by some significant amount

    [/ QUOTE ]

What would happen with powers that cost less than that threshold to activate? Would they lose effectiveness despite having more than enough end to use them normally?

(Powers like Consume/Dark Consumption and One with the Shield/Unstoppable which only use 0.52-2.6end to activate anyhow.)

I really, really, really dislike most kinds of pie. I hate the lack of any flavor in the crust, the texture of most 'fruit fillings' makes me gag, and a lot of people that MAKE pies expect you to look at them like they are geniouses for grinding up a bunch of bad fruit and dumping it into some dough.

meat pies and cream pies... cheese pies like quiche and cheesecake, These kinds of pies I can sink my teeth into. but cherry pie? I love cherries but if I want to suck slime through my teeth I have a lot more fun things I can be doing.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Crusader:
    Primary Set: Melee Damage
    Secondary Set: Buff/heal
Description: The paladin, the commander, the leader, the crusader is always in the frontlines supporting his team.

They should have tank level damage and health and have controller level buffs, no debuff sets available.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the only one of your ideas I can moderately get behind. Buff/DeBuff Sets and Melee Damage sounds like a great idea. But why limit it to Buffing only? If you'll be in melee you'll likely need some way to defend yourself so as not to be overwhelmed once hit with a single Mez. The DeBuff sets provide plenty of tools to extend your own survival while most Buffs are ally-only. Not to mention that the name is a terrible choice because it evokes a ton of historical connotations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to mention, do you classify Cold Domination (and the like) as a Buff set? or a Debuff set?

Not all sets are Forcefield. Where do you draw the line?

Would they get Thermal? Sonic? Pain Domination? All of these sets have debuffs as well as buffs (Some more so than others).

Of the ATs you came up with, this is the one most want to see in the game, however there should be no distinction between buff and debuff.

    Support/Melee or Melee/Support.

Support sets should also be adapted to specifically suit the Archetype, much like Stalker sets are adapted to them. There are some powers that just don't fit with a melee Archetype. (Force Bubble, Hurricane, Repel, Repulsion Field, I'm looking at you guys.)

The damage numbers are also likely too low. You don't have the added safety of staying at range, and with controller level support you're not going to have the mitigation to stay alive in melee range.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
    Spy:
Primary Set: Manipulation/Assault(similar to blaster and dominator secondaries, a mix of control and ranged)
    Secondary Set: Stealth/Defense
Description: The rogue, or trickster, the spy is all about sneaking into enemy territory and mixing things up.

They should have defender level damage and tank level defense and scrapper level health, they use tactical powers to control the battle field and are very hard to kill, lots of soft control like kb and slows, unlike the existing assault/manipulation sets they will mostly have ranged attacks..

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's something you're not telling me here. Like how you'd ever be able to solo this character, if you wanted to. Sure, you'd be able to survive for very long. You'd also need to because it would take you forever to get anything to die. I presume you don't remember pre-Containment Controllers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed 100%. The numbers here would need to change.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
    Tyrant:
    Primary Set: Melee Damage
    Secondary Set: Pets
Description: The Tyrant rules with an iron fist! He has a huge army of followers of which he leads into battle himself.

They have above tanker level damage, blaster level health and mastermind style pets, possibly take out one or both of the pet upgrade powers and put in a self defensive power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, essentially, you want an AT that is a Meleer without any kind of Mez Protection and Pets because...? It seems like a really bad idea. I loathe Pets and their pathing when I'm on a Melee character because they tend to get in my way a whole damn lot. Having my own Pets to get in my way seems like the worst idea ever, cause then I have noone to blame but myself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could work assuming all of their pets were Ranged or Support. This would of course require either a drastic rework of many existing MM sets, or entirely new sets.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
    Destroyer:
    Primary Set: Ranged Damage
    Secondary Set: Melee Damage
Description: The true glass cannon, the destroyer does just that, destroys, he seems fragile but the chances of getting close enough to test that theory are slim.

They have blaster level damage, defender level health and no defensive or control like powers, maybe an inherent or power in every set based on speed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh. That IS pretty much how (non-Devices) Blasters used to be. In fact, Blasters had even less HP than Defenders. Didn't do them a load of good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Basically.... This = Blaster

There's not enough distinction for this to be an independent AT.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
    Enforcer:
    Primary Set: Debuff
    Secondary Set: Control
Description: Enforcers control the battle, they cannot do much in the frontlines but they can ensure a victory for a side of their choosing by working in the background.

Their damage and health are both very low, their debuff values are less than a controller, their inherent increases their debuff strength on mezzed enemies, their primaries are only debuff sets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If their DeBuff values are less than a Controller's, why would you not just play a [censored] Controller? You'd already get a boost on your Controls out of the gate by it being your Primary Set and still get better DeBuffs. Not to mention a slew more damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree entirely.

Also, this suffers the same problem as the Melee/Buff AT. Where do you draw the line on what's a buff set, and what's a debuff set?

There should never be a distinction between Buff and Debuff. They are support sets.
  21. BAH!

    Gravity (Again)

My opinion leans towards, Lift being made an AoE, and wormhole being moved to an earlier level.

Reordering powersets is not unheard of. Tankers used to get Taunt at level 4. It was moved to level 10 at some point, allowing Tankers more attacks at very low level.

    Change the order to:

    1)Crush
    1)Gravity Distortion
    2)Crushing Field
    6)Propel
    8)Lift - AoE
    12)Dimension Shift
    18)Wormhole
    26)Gravity Distortion Field
    32)Singularity

    or

    1)Crush
    1)Gravity Distortion
    2)Crushing Field
    6)Propel
    8)Lift - AoE
    12)Wormhole
    18)Gravity Distortion Field
    26)Dimension Shift
    32)Singularity
