  1. Oathbound is the name of my first character to hit 50.

Before that my Forum (and global) handle was AderronGuardian. Aderron was the name of my main character (and again first level 50) from the last game I played (a Warden in Dark Age of Camelot) and it was what everyone knew me by. Guardian is my home server.
  2. Thanks all for the kind words.

I really love working on bases and seeing what I can make of my ideas, it's nice to know other people can appreciate it too.

Bases and Costumes are about as artsy as I get lol.

Amazing job, and thank you for volunteering to do it.

Heh, I do seem pretty fond of the fire pits dont it?

It almost didn't make it into this design. I put it in at first, then got rid of it, but Crestent talked me into putting it back lol.

I thought it might be too much of an obstruction, but since he was all for it, and I love them anyhow, I worked in it.

And no problem Crestent. Happy to, you're a great guy.

(Crest was nice enough to give me a game code that got me a free month. If he hadn't I wouldn't be able to post here right now )
  4. So many of you may have participated in Pyro Nympho's recent CannonBrawl Run contest for the Fan Arts section over on Test, and if you did you know that the second place prize has to have a room in your base remodeled by me. (Extreme Makeover: Base Edition, if you will.)

Crestent received the prize, and chose The Envisionaries' base on Liberty to get the remodel.

The room I redid was a meeting room with an area for Base Trophies, so I ran with it and set up an art gallery with a central sort of Theatre-in-the-Round meeting hall.

It took some time to get going on this and there were a few edits (one of which you'll notice from these screens is the addition of a "Leader's" seat in the meeting hall), but I'm finally here with the results. (Permission was asked and granted for posting.)

    Hope you guys enjoy it!

Well to be fair, in a low level team setting single target damage isn't the focus, AoE output is, which AR has a much easier time with.

Also, Defender Traps starts getting it's useful powers MUCH earlier than Corruptors/MMs(Controllers when it's proliferated, though I'm HELLS YEAH gonna make a Grav/Traps so I can lay out a minefield and wormhole groups onto it.)

Yeah, he's level 8 and i'm already tired of him.

Not sure what's worse AR's crappy single target damage (since you know I prefer solo/small teams) or the fact that I have to wait all the way to level 16 before I can even feel like /Traps is DOING anything.
  7. Ok, so I designed a character entirely around the Raptor Pack temp power (and thus the Sky Raider group that the Raptor Pack's design is taken from).

    Lt. Wilshire
    AR/Traps Corruptor
  8. Happy date on which you were born!

(Yes I'm fashionably late, as I just got on the computer today (technically yesterday but it's still today for me dangit).)

Actually, HAHA! Time difference means I'm just under the wire!
  9. I'd have to say that I as a person am probably Lawful Good.

Most often I don't even think about where on the scale of Good vs Evil my characters would fall.

I guess my main Oathbound (FF/Psi defender) would be Lawful Good.

Untill of course he went crazy (will be a Dark/Psi Dominator if/when they ever add Dark Control) where he'll just be a flat out Chaotic Evil nutjob.

I'd say the majority of my characters are probably Neutral Good or Lawful Good.

My Villains are probably more Chaotic Neutral than actually Evil, and my Widow will deffinitely swap sides with Going Rogue switching from Lawful Evil to Chaotic Good.
  10. I have five characters that are related in a way. 3 are the same character at 3 different points in his life (as a hero, then as a villain, then redeemed as a hero again) the others are a Warshade and a Night Widow who are tied to the story.

**Typing it out... MAN this is a convoluted story. I guess that fits right in with the Comic Book world though huh?**

My FF/Psi Oathbound defender was my first 50, and he's the only character that I've really come up with an indepth background for.

At some point in every heroes career they find themselves in the situation where they have no choice but to kill their adversary. Having lived* for nearly 1500 years Oathy's been in that position a number of times. Unfortunately whenever he kills someone he subconsciously 'retains' a part of their psyche and as time goes on more and more of his energy gets diverted inward to maintain his own personality. Eventually these fragments of personality overwhelm his own and he goes rather insane as each personality fragment fights for dominance. At some point he fights a pair of kheldians (Twin brothers, a Peacebringer and a Warshade), during this fight he tears the Peacebringer's Kheldian from it's host (killing the host) and absorbs it.

(I don't currently have a character for this version of him, because I'm waiting for them to get around to adding Dark Control so he can be a Dark/Psi Dominator.)

For some time he continues along his path of esclating madness and violence, though deep within the recesses of his mind the Kheldian personality finds Oathy's original psyche, as well as the fragment of his past host (which he absorbed when he killed him) and they join into a sort of amalgamate consciousness. Shortly after this Oathbound is confronted again by the Warshade (Twilight Rampart) who's been grudgingly working with a Night Widow (Twilight Widower*) who has come to capture Oathbound (more accurately he's come to find out why he was specifically forbidden to do so, the answer to that being because the Fortunata forsaw that he would fall in love with a heroine and leave Arachnos and the Rogue Isles for her).

During the battle the Joined consciousness took advantage of the distraction to eradicate as many of the fragments as possible before finally taking total control and purging his mind of any wayward personalities.

This new entity took to calling itself Hadi (a Peacebringer), which was Oathbound's name centuries ago before he became Oathbound.

    **Wow yeah, Soap Opera.**

Meat? What are you talking about? Bacon is a vegetable!

(Also, Bacon on veggie burgers IS stupidly delicious.)

    New ATs please

I'd have to disagree. Giving Masterminds a set of Support oriented pets would completely alter their damage output, making them practically impossible to solo, which is a situation in which they currently shine.

Adding a set like that would be a radical deviation from the normal performance of the archetype.

    New ATs please

    I would really love a Melee/Support or Support/Melee AT.

Sure you can fake it with Defenders and Corruptors, but it's not at all the same.

Both ATs get fairly low base damage (Defenders obviously moreso) due to both the force multiplying nature of their support sets, and because the devs have assigned a certain value of Range = Defense(Survivability) to them.

Playing a Defender of Corruptor in melee completely negates any potential surviability increase, so IMO an AT built around the ideas of not having that added protection would have a justified need for higher base damage.

Also, Melee sets tend to heavily favor Single Target damage. Where Blast sets generally have 2 or 3 Single target Damage powers (4 for Psi Blast) Melee sets generally have 4 or 5 (Exceptions being Spines with 3 and Electric which has 2 Single target, a single target that can "chain" to additional targets within a certain range and a melee AoE that deals twice as much damage to your primary(single) target as it does those around it).

  16. Failing the kick Brawl, you can always take the Kick power. IIRC it uses the same animation.

(Sadly that will cause redraw, but that's the price you pay, I guess.)

  19. Ok, replying to my last post, so that it's less Wall-o-textish...

The contribution of a Traps defender to the team is largely level dependent given how trivial most of their beginning powers are.

IF you'd prefer to play a Traps/AR defender, Might it be a good idea to get them a few levels beforehand, since Traps powers don't start getting decent till 6?

With SSK it's not like level differences matter all that much anymore.

    Just a thought.

(As far as any PvP goes, I generally don't, so i have no idea if a Defender would be at a disadvantage at all, particularly with level caps in play.)(Oddly enough Pyro is the only person I've ever PvP'd against in this game.)

Since the majority of the event will be using levels 4 - 8 (if we're lucky to gain those levels in the first few missions), I don't see the trade off for the lessor damage output.
Defenders get Forcefield Generator at level 8. That's, 13.3%defense unslotted each. Rather sizable.

Just remember, lowbies and will we gain anything from having the triangle beacon? I'm not too knowledgeable on the numbers, but I do know that most only show their true worth onced slotted with SO's...and I don't see use getting to them in this event.
Triage Beacon is unslotted 150% regeneration each, which on it's own is pretty crappy. Remember, Lower Total HP means Less HP/Tick. You'd need 3 of them to even come close to RA.

I would say of the placeable pets, Acid Mortar is the far more useful of the two. It increases killing speed (26.6%resist and 26.6%defense debuffs), and can help mitigate damage by soaking up agro (in fact having slightly more HP than the defender does). Mortars last for 1 minute and will fire upwards of 10-12 times, each time hitting upto 16targets in an 8foot AoE with a 100foot range. (Honstly is it even possible to fit 16mobs into an 8foot radius?)

Acid Mortar also recharges in 90seconds, giving it a possible unslotted uptime of 66%.

    Any thoughts?
    =waves=

I would say that Defenders might lower damage a tad at the very low levels, but once they pick up Acid Mortar at level 6 it actually swings the other way.

Since we'll be running on no enhancements (or TOs if you bother, I generally dont) it'd work out like this:

    Blaster Ranged Damage: 1.125
Defiance is not included because I have NO IDEA how I'd begin to quantify it.

    Defender Ranged Damage: 0.65
Acid Mortar's debuff averaged out over time (Let's assume that due to the mobile nature or fights that each acid mortar sees only 30seconds of use every cycle(90seconds)) 26.6%/3=8.87% average debuffing

    Team of 8Blasters: 1(8*1.125)=9
    7Blaster 1Defender: 1.0887(7*1.125+0.65)=9.28
    6Blasters 2Defenders: 1.2661((6*1.125)+(2*0.65))=10.19
    5Blasters 3Defenders: 1.3548((5*1.125)+(3*0.65))=10.26
    4Blasters 4Defenders: 1.4435((4*1.125)+(4*0.65))=10.25
    3Blasters 5Defenders: 1.5322((3*1.125)+(5*0.65))=10.15
    2Blasters 6Defenders: 1.6209((2*1.125)+(6*0.65))=9.97
    1Blaster 7Defenders: 1.7096(1.125+(7*0.65))=9.70
    Team of 8Defenders: 1.7983(8*0.65)=9.35

There's no case where adding a traps defender to the team, who takes and uses Acid Mortar, *doesn't* improve damage over just blasters.

**Dislaimer: numbers and math represent potential only, they are in no way meant to be a guarantee of actual performance and may be incorrect given that this is one of the few examples of a time in my life I ever use that stuff they taught me in math class oh so many years ago. Arcanaville I am not.**

***Also, Triage Beacon (and Spirit Tree) is Jank. That is all.***
  21. I say we let them have her. Good riddance.
