  1. Actually I'm fully aware that -Regen is only useful in a handful of situations. (I had originally pointed that out in my last post). (Funny how we immediately swing from Overpowered to Underpowered, such is a flaw in the mechanic of -regen IMO.)

That's partly what the Infect mechanic is there for, and I admit I don't think I explained it properly (It sounds as if only the secondary effect jumps targets, when I meant the entire effect of the power including damage). It gives the same secondary effect as Fire, More Damage, unlike fire though it's not to your target, making it more useful against multiple enemies than single mobs such as AVs/GMs.

In sitations where you're just fighting normal mobs the -Regen is virtually useless, in that place instead you have the added damage of Infect, in AV situations where you're generally only facing a single target, Infect is completely useless, but you have the -regen and a smattering of other debuffs.

(This was just an idea I had, and I'm in no way saying this is how it MUST BE. I would be fine with the set having -Damage instead, but I bet if such a set were proposed you would have people complaining about how it made Blasters too survivable. Then yet more people complaining that -Damage would be of no use on teams with heavy control [if mobs aren't attacking, dealing less damage means nothing] and heavy AoE teams that destroy spawns in seconds, as by time those small -damage bonuses stacked up enough to matter, the mobs would be dead.)

  4. Moot point really. -Resist is just as useful (potentially moreso) against AVs and GMs, yet Sonic Blast exists and can be paired with all the defender sets you mentioned.

The -Regen doesn't have to be large, and could even not stack with itself (hit the same mob twice with Caustic Bolt? Second -Regen overwrites the first).

Figure Twilight Grasp/Transfusion (as the most readily available -regen debuff) is 50% and even at base recharge will stack with itself 3times (4times for a few seconds) for a possible debuff of 150-200%.

If the -regen in the set I listed were say -20% per attack non-stacking, even using all 4 Non-Nuke powers with -regen in them that's only 80% -regen.

Assuming stackable 20% debuffing, with roughly standard Recharge/Durations (4s/6s Caustic Bolt, 8s/10s Caustic Blast, 10s/12s Pestilence, and 16s/16s Mass Exposure) your average debuff is:

    Caustic Bolt 2.5x
    Caustic Blast 2.25x
    Pestilence 1.2x
    Mass Exposure 1x

Average -Regen output 139% which is still less than either Twilight Grasp or Transfusion is already capable of. This is also not taking activation time into consideration, which would lower the overlap of the debuffs, thus lowering the average.

Will Recharge slotting skew those numbers upwards? Yes. But the same is already true of Twilight Grasp/Transfusion.

EDIT: Also, Power Boost wouldn't mean a hill of beans as -Regen powers are flagged to ignore enchancements and buffs. (Exceptions According to MIDs being Widow Dart powers and Poison's Envenom.)

(Cleared up some spelling errors that were bugging me.)

Ah, Dubai. Ultra Modern Dubai. Crown Jewel of the Emirates. Such a pity.

The show was spectacular,.. Though I must say if those buildings are apartments (which I believe they are) I kind of feel sorry for the people living there. At one point the lights were shining directly at them.

Yes. Dual Pistols has a power that allows you to convert 30% of your damage into an alternate type, complete with a different secondary based on that damage type. (Fire/DoT, Cold/Slow, Toxic/?**.)

So no matter what it's still a primarily (70%) Lethal damage set.

**I believe the secondary mentioned was a -Damage debuff, but I'm not 100%.

Well, Keep in mind Energy Blast (A set named for a specific type of damage) Deals a split between Energy and Smashing. So a set with say, Lethal/Toxic damage, could still be Toxic Blast. It doesn't need to deal a majority of Lethal Damage, hell it could be 90% Toxic, but as long as it has that Lethal component it has a mundane defense it has to check against.

I believe that someone earlier mentioned Fire/Toxic, which could work thematically for chemicals/corrosive substances.
  7. I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request.... err, wait.... no, that's not right...

    Yes. /Signed

While we're at it, we could use more sets for all of the recently added Accurate ______ IO sets (Healing, ToHit Debuff, Defense Debuff, etc.)

Those only have 2 sets each (1 low level 1 high level).
  8. I'd have to say that PvP is no longer a concern with regard to Toxic damage in the hands of players, as teh Devs can now differentiate between PvP and PvE and if they feel it's needed Grant players additional Toxic Resistance in PvP zones to compensate for it.

I also don't think Having a toxic set, which may get added to new Mobs in the game Matters much. There are already several Mob types with Toxic damage (Vahzilok Zombies and Hydra for example).

It's just like Psi. Most sets have a Psionic Damage hole, and there are lots of mobs (Particularly in the Hard Hitting AV catergory) that deal Psionic Damage.

Here's an idea I had quite awhile ago for a Toxic Blast set:

    Toxic Blast
    1) Caustic Bolt -- Single ranged, Minor DoT, Fast Recharge, -Regeneration, Chance for Infect 10%
    2) Caustic Blast -- Singel ranged, Moderate DoT, Moderate Recharge, -Regeneration, Chance for Infect 10%
    3) Corrosive Spray -- Cone, Moderate DoT, Slow Recharge, -Defense, -Resist
    4) Aim -- Self Click, Very Long Recharge, +ToHit, +Damage
    5) Noxious Odor -- Singel ranged, Slow Recharge, Hold, -Speed, -Recharge, Chance for Infect 20%
    6) Contagen -- Single ranged, Moderate DoT Slow Recharge, Chance for Infect 80%, Chance for Infect 80%, Chance for Infect 80%
    7) Pestilence -- Short ranged, Heavy DoT, Slow Recharge, -Regeneration, -Recovery, -Heal, -Damage, Chance for Infect 15%
    8) Mass Exposure -- AoE, Moderate DoT, Slow Recharge, -Regeneration, -Recovery, Chance for Infect 10%
    9) Rampant Plague -- PBAoE, Extreme DoT, Very Long Recharge, -Regeneration, -Recovery, -Recharge, -Speed, Chance of Infect 20%, Self -Hitpoints, Self -Endurance, Self -Recovery, Self -Regeneration

**DoT effects are 3.1seconds duration or less. (Think Frost Breath and the first two Sonic attacks)**

**Infect is a chance for the effect of the power to 'jump' to another target within a 10' radius of the affected foe. Infect will only allow the effect to jump to a single additional mob. In the case of AoE powers, each affected target has a chance to Infect another target.**

**Contagen has 3 seperate 80%chances to infect additional targets.**

**Rampant Plague doesn't have the normal crash for Nukes, instead it has an additional HP cost (Kind of like Absorb Pain/Oppressive Gloom) and both -Regeneration and -Recovery penalties**
  9. Thank you Ironblade for offering. I'm going to go ahead with Leandro's offer, just due to having more prestige, but thank you still.

Here's hoping it turns out well eh?
  10. Silly question I know, but with the Holiday Competition going on, I'd like to revisit a base idea I had a year ago, there's only one minor problem...

My SG is a personal SG, and as such it lacks the Prestige needed to flesh out this idea, and I do not have access to any bases I could remodel without destroying some skillfully created rooms.

So I ask, Does anyone have a base (perhaps for an defunct SG they still have access to) that I could use to create a submission for the Contest with?

(The exact amount of prestige I would need I am unsure of, but it's likely between 7 and 10 million, which is a lot, I know.)

Truly, I lived by the motto that "if you ever see me playing a healer in any game, something has gone terribly wrong somewhere in the universe" but the DoK changed that for me.

Almost every attack was also a heal, heal over time or buff for me/ my defensive target or anyone near me.

Having two seperate targets, one for offense and one for defense made DoKs and Warrior Priests truly shine in Warhammer Online, and should be available in all MMOs.
Ah, WAR... I kind of miss my Warrior Priest. I could solo level 20 yetis at level 12. (I really hated the power mechanics for WPs/DoKs when it came to RvR though.)

Sure I did crap for damage and it took me like 2 minutes a kill, but I was never in any real danger of dying through the entire fight.

    *sniff* Memories

EDIT: On topic... I think the entire reason that all characters are not equally self sufficient is that, If everyone were there would be very little reason to team.

'That Other Superhero Game' kind of demonstrates this. In the entire (admittedly, relatively short) time I played I might have gotten a team invite (or even asked if I'd like to team up) Twice. Maybe.

Being able to solo most things means that many (possibly most) people Will solo most things, and having things you cannot solo, in a game that is so solo friendly just makes people upset that they can't solo it.

    I entirely agree...

    /Rant

For one it needs the end cost of it's toggle reigned in.

    Invulnerability has 3 toggles that use 0.26, 0.26 and 0.21 end/sec or 0.73total.

    Shield has 4 toggles with costs of 0.21, 0.21, 0.21 and 0.16 end/sec for a total of 0.79 end/sec

Dark Armor has four toggles (And that's only counting the armors) that cost 0.21, 0.21, 0.21 and 0.26 for a total of 0.89 AND needs to run Acrobatics for KB protection piling an additional 0.33 end/sec for a grand total of 1.22 before you even consider adding the damage aura, Fear Aura or Stun Aura.

Dark Regen's end cost is also completely unreasonable. Yes sure it's a potentially massive heal but almost all of it's potential is going to be wasted anyhow. What does it matter that you can heal back 300% of your hitpoints when you ONLY HAVE 100%? If you only get 1/3rd of the power's benefit, why do you still have to pay for it as if you were getting the whole thing?

Now, I'm fine with Dark's end use being balanced soley around it's defensive toggles, with the auras having added costs on top of that, But IMO it should either be balanced to include an alotment for Acrobatics, OR have KB protection added in so that you dont need to add the extra end cost of Acrobatics anyway.

With regard to the auras, CoF really needs work Either get rid of that huge accuracy penalty, make the -tohit debuff autohit, or chop it's end cost down to 0.33end/sec. As is it's most often skipped and rarely worth it anyhow.

    /Rant
  13. I would be all for this.

All they would have to do is Adjust the Negative Energy resistance of Dark Embrace to the same scale as the Smashing/Lethal resist, and the Negative Energy resist of Murky Cloud to the same scale as the Fire/Cold resist. (Ok, actually that would only hit ~67.3% for scrappers and 89.7% for tankers, but that's pretty close, and both changes are perfectly reasonable.)

I kind of also think it should have some measure of ToHit Debuff Resistance, given that that's the standard secondary effect of Dark powers.
  14. As awesome as it would be, That's not exactly Propelling anything is it?

  18. I'm royaly screwed by this server outage. No Virtue, My main server is Guardian, and I have characters on Justice.

All I've got left is a few rag-tag toons on Victory.
  19. I got 26.

There were some I had no freaking idea about, and others that I knew instantly.

I still can't believe I forgot who Eve Van Dorn was. I LOVE <that character>!

I didn't even know all the Freedom Phalanx (Partly cause I dont really care about them).

I would have had 27, but I misspelled one, and didn't think about spelling it the other way.

  22. I used voice chat back when the computer was in my room, but since I've moved the computer is in a little alcove in the upstairs hallway, right smack dab in the middle of the bedrooms. Since I play at night my talking would distrub other people.

I also wear headphones so that they're not bothered by the game sounds/music for whatever I might be doing.

I'm not opposed to listening in and typing out my replies though.
  23. Now, now, I was only even able to get it this far along thanks to some donations. (The Inf->Prestige conversion rate is still LUDICRUS.)

And for epic archetypes, 2 for Kheldians, and 4 for Arachnos, reasons stated above.

Here's a post where I even break it down historically by how many sets were available at different times!

(PS: Here's a list of all the combinations.)
Regarding SoAs, it is entirely possible to go all the way to 50 with just the base Primary/Secondary and Power Pools/PPPs, so I'd count them as 6 combinations. (It's far more common for Arachnos Soldiers to do so over Arachnos Widows, since a Night Widow is a natural progression of the Arachnos Widow base anyhow, where neither the Crab or Bane branches expand directly upon the Arachnos Soldier base.)
