Minor nitpick... Time Crawl in your post has no icon, and the icons for Farsight and Slowed Response are swapped (in addition to the Slowed Response icon being cut off).
/OCD off -
Quote:True enough.Yup, keep in mind the date of this info...it might already be a bit out of date, though it doesn't look too imbalanced to me. Certainly, my Psi/Time Corruptor is looking forward to it. Massive amounts of -Recharge and a single-target -Regen. Probably decent for AV fights.
I see what you're saying about Farsight, but I think that 66% uptime will be fine for it, as it does look like it does a lot. I think of it like Recovery Aura, but better.
Really I do understand why they wouldn't want it perma-able on just SOs, this is the first set that really combines a good deal of Healing with a sizable AoE Defense buff, so I can see that they're balancing them against one another. I'm just a bit neurotic about part time buffs. My only IO build to date is my Widow because I just couldn't stand Mind Link not being always on.
I'll just end up doing the same thing here. I'm sure I'll enjoy the set. -
I've gotta say I'm NOT a fan of the recharge/duration on Farsight**. Even fully slotted with SOs it's only a 66.6% uptime? Bleh. I DO however like that Chronoshift can be perma'd. I guess I'll be making another Recharge IO build for the character I inevitably roll.
I'm honestly a little surprised at how strong the Regen debuff in Time Crawl is.
All in all it looks like a fun set.
**But I will give it a go on Beta because drawing any final conclusions. -
Same. This really didn't tell us anything we didn't already know about the set.
There's no real details, and only vague comments on the actual effect of powers such as "Time Stop is a control power." No kidding, it has the Hold icon, if it's not a control then someone screwed up there.
I'll patiently (ok, ok, impatiently) await the opening of Beta server, so I can see actual new information. -
Quote:I think that could be managed. (Not saying I'm for or against it.)Then there's the whole question of should you give a status protection power to an archetype which was balanced around not having one..
Sure always on full value status protection would be crazy talk, but Controllers (for instance) already get mez protection in Indomitable Will (clickie version). It's not that much of an issue due to uptime. Yes a High end IO build can get it perma, but honestly I'd have to say that's the least of Recharge-based IO build problems.
Partial protection could also work. Several support sets already provide this (FF, Sonic, Traps).
Perma protection could be balanced with low Mag (like the initial protection given to Arachnos Soldiers). Low enough mag that it's not going to save you from the focus of a group of mobs or even necessarily a Boss, but high enough so that every stray minion can't constantly detoggle you. Say an auto 2-3mag protection from hold/sleep/disorient.
Again, not saying For or Against, just saying it could probably be balanced. -
Quote:And thus the new doomsday theory calls for the collapse of the magnetosphere causing the Earth to be obliterated in a massive matter/antimatter explosion.when I first saw this I was like what are the kooks saying now... then I read the article and was like cool. A source of anti-matter that can be exploited for a number of things and will push us to explore space for energy! but then I remembered, doesn't the magneto-sphere every so often turn off...wouldn't that be a bad thing if that magnetosphere turned off and all those antiprotons dropped on us...
So sayeth the Prophet Durakken! -
Honestly, I have no doubt that Khelds were never even thought of when these new powers were designed, and that they'll simply never get access to the new flight/TP powers.
Sucks to be them. -
I agree with the overall idea very much, though I would want the Ghosts to be far more like CoT Spectrals or Croatoa Ghosts.
It just feels to me that limiting them to essentially just be Soldiers does the whole thing a real disservice. If all a person wanted was ghost soldiers they could just take Mercenaries and Grant Invisibility and fake it. -
I would probably topple human civilization, just out of spite.
Sure I'd eventually start a new one to replace the old one, but a few years in the stone age might do us some good. Re-learn to appreciate what we've got. -
Quote:Electron Haze's cast time is 2.37s where Psi Scream's is 2.67s.Electron Haze and Psychic Scream are nearly identical in cast time.
Not that big of a deal, what the real issue between the two is, is that EH deals 1.35scale damage, where PS deals only 1.04scale damage, so EH deals more damage for the time you spend animating it. Yes Psi Scream recharges faster, but that just means you're going to spend even more time locked in it's animation.
It's not so much that Psi Scream has a long(ish) animation (it has the same animation as many other cones) it's that it has a long(ish) animation combined with middling damage. -
I must now figure out where you live so that I can beat it out of... err... I mean, Ask you politely about it..... yeeeees...... that's what I mean...
-
Quote:Yeah, that sucks. We're still stuck wasting power picks on powers we'll never use (eg. boxing) to get ones we actually want.Heads up: it ain't so.
-
Quote:If I recall correctly***.... all damage buffs have to be flagged as [Ignores Enhancements and Buffs] because with the way the game engine is built Damage Buffs would buff Damage Buffs, making it an infinite loop of a power self buffing itself until just running assault would put you permanently at the damage cap. Thus there is no way to increase them. Now here's one for you: Why can't Assault be slotted for Damage? It's the only Leadership power at a disadvantage because it's the only one that cannot be slotted for its primary function.
***And I really could be crazy here, but I swear I remember reading this before. -
There's no such thing as too much AoE. Though if you're intent on getting rid of one I'd probably drop Psychic Scream, cause it's got the longest animation time and doesn't really do enough damage to keep it's DPA up with the other AoEs.
(also nitpick: Psychic Wail is the Psi Blast Nuke. Psychic Shockwave is the power you're meaning.) -
Quote:It was the same for me until this morning. I'd have to say I actually much prefer that than this.Interesting, I've always been getting the exact opposite: threads I've read being marked unread.
I'll have to see about finding this I guess. -
Besides the forum log-out bug (grrrr), all day today as soon as I visit the forums it immediately marks ALL posts as being Read and only shows new posts made since I've been ON the forums as being Unread.
It started doing it this morning, I booted up my computer, hit the forums and everything posted prior to 8:30am (when I first came to the forums this morning) was flagged as read. Then it did it again when I came back to check the forums this evening. Everything posted before 5:30ish was flagged as already Read when I KNOW it wasn't.
This is incredibly annoying.
(The forums are set to Remember Me.)(I use Firefox.) -
I find that I flat out don't like most popular comic book characters, period.
Either by way of power-creep, ridiculously convoluted backstory, constant retcon, or what have you they just shed my interest and become boring to me. Another thing is that the more *super awesome* a character is portrayed/advertised to me the more critical I'm going to be of them, because of the hype. If they don't live up to it then I'm sorry, there's no coming back from that.
This isn't limited to Comic Book characters for me either, rather it applies to ALL forms of media/storytelling.
Hell, as a Trekkie raised on Next Generation I don't care for Data, Worf and Freaking Captain Picard much any longer because the longer TNG went on (particularly the movies) the more they focused on just those characters to the exclusion/detriment of all others. (Well, that's kind of a lie... I -never- liked Worf.) -
Of the proliferated sets I'll probably make a Dark/Mental blaster, even though I've never been able to get a Blaster past level 12 without getting bored and deleting it, I have a concept I really like so it might help me stick with it. (Reroll of a Dark/Psi defender.) That's really the only Prolif that appeals to me.
Of the new sets I'll play/roll the hell out of Time Manipulation. I'll likely make multiple TM Defenders, Controllers and Corruptors, then decide which one I like best and focus on that one. Not really interested in the premium sets. They're just not concepts that really appeal to me. (Maybe Street Justice, maybe.) -
Quote:Well, that makes it pretty much a crap power I'll never bother taking.
I really can't see how a primary/secondary reset once every 30min is worth more than whatever power I'm NOT getting cause I wasted a slot on Burnout. -
Quote:I suppose it all depends. Is it fixed recharge like Strength of Will/One with the Shield? (speculative, not expecting anyone to actually know at this point)I'm not impressed with the Speed instant recharge power myself, once every 30 minutes isn't that good. The Leaping AoE power looks appealing, and the Teleport power is nice as well but not something I'd take as a min-maxer.
If it accepts recharge buffs you can potentially get it down to Once every 7 1/2 minutes. Considerably more useful, particularly if it effects accolade powers. Plus it's already in the same pool as Hasten, so it wouldn't even be all that difficult to fit into many high recharge builds.
I might consider it for my Fort, just cause I like to nuke as often as possible. -
Quote:Running Afterburner (which is a toggle) pushes flight up to 71mph. Super Jump caps out at 78mph, only 7 mph faster and yet with considerably less vertical ability/control.I understand the rationale here, but there's a difference between slow and punitive.
In all honesty I would have preferred they simply increase the flyspeed cap period, instead of having it tacked into an additional power pick. It's not so much slower than other powers that I feel it's really an issue though, I doubt I'll even bother picking up the new power on most of my fliers.
For the record Flight is bar none my favorite travel power, slower or not. -
I'm more or less fine with most of those, except the Leadership Pool. While some form of End mitigation to balance the cost of the toggles would be mechanically nice to have, it doesn't really fit with the pool.
Now, if it were say a Team version of Conserve power (lower value/recharge), or something of that sort that would make more thematic sense to me in a set that's based entirely on team buffing.
The Presence pool power is also kind of Meh. The only real uses I can think of for it are Tankerminds or SoAs with very tanky builds. Very few others who don't get an agro aura actually WANT agro.
That said I don't really have an alternative for it, Presence is a rather wonky concept. I would like them to improve the Fear powers in general though, so maybe something that interacts with those in a similar way to how the new Flight power improves the effectiveness of other Flight Pool powers. (Mini Domination-esque ability?)
Fighting - Pain Tolerance would be very nice to have on some characters. I'd definitely pick it up a few times.
The Combat Medic power would also be nice to have for non-defense based sets/ATs/Builds that would still like a self heal they could actually cast once in a while. -
I basically do the same.
I'll fight them at lower level when it's all Guides, Thornwielders, Energy/Life/Madness mages, but once it gets into Ruin mages and Spectrals I just skip them till the 40s. (Unless I'm playing a Psi character, Spectrals are weak to Psionic damage.) -
Quote:13extra MPH may not seem like much, but it's over a 20%boost to the normal flyspeed cap.Only +13mph?
Fehhhhhh.
Devs, please, take out the ancillary crap and give afterburners lots more speeds, pls.
K'thxsbai!
Fly is always going to be the slowest travel power, because it offers the greatest control and utility/ease of movement. -
Quote:Ruin Mages is correct.IMO what is truly weird about the CoT is that the Ruin Mages (I think--the ones with Dispersion Bubble and Earthquake) disappear at higher levels. Outside of their actual level, they are vastly more powerful than anything that comes in that faction later. Vastly. IMO that one enemy is what keeps high level CoT from being a Carnies or Malta. When you factor in the missing ghosts and spirits and their -ToHit, its like CoT got accidentally switched in difficulty between low levels and high levels.
I've always thought they should have been a higher level mob. Trying to fight these things at level 12, heaven forbid as a full team where you get multiple in a spawn, is utterly ridiculous.
I remember way back when, making an Earth/FF controller because OMG Ruin Mages were INSANE. Needless to say I was less impressed with the playable PC version. -_-
