However, what a power does is harder to make unique, as most power sets in any given category cover the multiple secondary effects in the game (Dark's -To Hit, Ice's Slow & -Rech, Rad's -DEF, etc.).

Personally, I would be fine in getting a brand new, completely graphically unique power set that also does -To Hit, same as Dark. However, from a design stand point, I understand not wanting to take the risk at making one of your older power sets obsolete.
This rationale doesn't really work so well. There are many, many melee sets that share the same secondary effects. Hell, most of them do. The only ones that actually have unique secondaries are Fire (DoT), Ice (Slow), Dark (-tohit), Energy (Disorient) Electric (-End and sleep), and Spines (DoT, Slow and Immobilize).

Battle Axe, Dual Blades, Martial Arts, Stone Melee, Street Justice, Super Strength, War Mace, Titan Weapons, Staff Fighting, Broadsword, Katana, Ninja Blade, Kinetic and Claws are all just mixes of Knockback/up/down, Disorients, Defense debuffs etc.

Kinetic and Claws are somewhat special cases, Claws' "secondary effect" is an end/recharge discount, but it's "debuff" type effects aren't unique at all. Kinetics has a unique effect, but only while Power Siphon is active, otherwise it just uses the typical generic effects.

I don't see why Ranged sets all have to have unique debuffs associated with them, when most melee sets don't.

If a hypothetical pack were to get 20 pieces, I'd say that the ideal distribution would be 10 gender-neutral pieces, like jackets, boots, gloves and weapons, 5 female specific pieces like dresses, corsets, and such, and 5 male only pieces. I understand that there are very few pieces that can be made for males that couldn't reasonably be used on females, but some artificial limitations would be reasonable.

For example, in the Arcane Booster, I would have divided things up as follows:

    Neutral/Both:
Baron Jacket and Sleeves (all variants)
    Baron Boots
    High Collar Cape

    Female:
Witch Hat, top, gloves, skirt, boots (all variants)
    Bolero

    Male:
    Baron Hat
    Renegade Hat
    Skull Mask
    Wizard Beard

Once Dink is done with the set, the only difference between my list and the official one is that females won't have the Baron Boots, IIRC.
There's no reason a woman couldn't wear the hats or mask that I assigned to males only, but you'll notice that even with a handful of arbitrarily assigned male-only pieces, females end up ahead.
Ultimately, I don't agree that females should get more pieces than males just because in reality it's socially acceptable for women to wear men's clothes, but not vice-versa. This game is all about giving the maximum amount of choices, and giving all the costume parts to one model and only half of them to the others is only going to accomplish two things: It will make some players always roll characters using the model with lots of choices, and it will make others resent not getting the choices they want (see the "Men get jackets, women get lingere" debates). Giving most stuff to both sides, and a handful of exclusives to each keeps both sides (mostly) happy, and minimizes disappointment in disparities.
    A thousand times this.

In altering their stance on future costume set creation to what it is now, all they've done is trade one type of inequality (inequality in how themes are represented across the genders) for another type of inequality (being numerical inequality).

Indeed.... they said he wanted to make her his Princess not his Queen.

That implies a more platonic or familial relationship, not a romantic one.

One of his lines during the LGTF is about protecting her from "boys" which always struck me as very fatherly. (Who hasn't had/been faced with the overbearing father who never thinks you're good enough for his daughter?)

Sadly while I have the money for it NOW (YAY taxes!), I have no idea if I'd actually still have the money to make the trip by time April 28th got here... and I only live an hour or two away too.
  6. Story Bible or not, Penny never even remotely "felt" 18 in Faultline. If she was meant to be, then that's just one more example of the writer failing to convey what they had intended.

I could accept her maybe being as old as 15/20, but there's no way I can wrap my brain around her as 18/23.

Dark Watcher did the rezzing, not Lady Grey. (Though she IS a dark/dark defender, so she should be able to do it herself anyhow.)

We can only skin one vertices to 2 Bones max and in this instance since the flap would have been in the middle it would have needed to be skinned to 3 bones (Hips, left leg and right leg). I hope this makes sense . We do try our best to make the finished 3D look as good as we can with the resources we have.
Couldn't it have been done as a skirt/kilt option instead of a belt? Is there some reason it wouldn't have worked that way?
  9. Looking at the round back detail in the top right corner, there's arrows indicating that the two rings were concepted to counter-rotate.

    That would have been awesome!

I always wondered why the two round back details weren't full rings, instead of the semi-circles we got.
  10. You can kinda sorta decorate them a little bit now that you can rotate items, because rotating items tends to distort their bounding boxes, making it possible to "overlap" the item into doorways.

This only particularly works with larger floor items, cause smaller items are just too, well, small, to protrude very far into the door area.
  11. I spent my last 2XP weekend base building.

I can't honestly say for sure whether I'll make any better use of this next one.

I suppose that I'll be leveling a new character assuming i22 goes live beforehand (which seems likely), so I'll probably take advantage of it for that.

Fade is an 18.75% pbaoe defense buff that lasts for 15seconds on a 3minute recharge timer. It also has some Defense debuff Resistance.

Soul Absorption is a pbaoe regen/recovery buff that grants 30% Regen and 15% Recovery per defeated mob in a 20 foot radius. The buff lasts 30seconds and it has a 2minute recharge.

The incredibly poor uptime of Fade makes it virtually useless for anything but an Alpha absorber, but even as that it's long recharge means it's not likely to be available more often than every second or third group. If you don't need it 1/2 or more of the time, then you flat out don't need it, IMO.

The idea behind the power was a "Mini MoG" for your team, but it fails as that. Either it needs to have an equivalent amount of Resist added to it, to make it really count as an emergency use "oh sh**" power, or it's recharge needs cut down to something more palatable (say 2 minutes, that way on SO it's up for 15s once a minute) so that it can be up every spawn.

Soul Absorption either needs the buff to be frontloaded (Big buff for the first body, stacking smaller buffs for additional), or needs the recharge cut down a good deal.

It's modeled after Warshade's Stygian Circle, but what makes Stygian Circle the great power it is are it's very fast recharge, and it's large value heal/end return. That way even if there aren't more than a couple bodies to "feed" on it still provides a very tangible effect.

Soul Absorption keeps the main problem with Stygian Circle (bodies fade/scattered/being unable to really control where they die) and adds to that the need to "Herd" your teammates in for the buff in a VERY limited time.

Frontloading the buff values would allow you to more easily use the buff whenever it was needed/available without worrying about "wasting" it with only 1 or 2 bodies in the radius.

Alternately, having it target living enemies instead (same way Dark Regen works) would let you use the power at any point during combat, instead of as an "After Combat" recovery tool.

As for myself, I'll probably use Dark/ for a Dominator and try to level a Gravity Controller again.

I won't be touching /Darkness Affinity. Fade and Soul Absorption are still mediocre powers at best and there's been absolutely no indication that they're getting improved in any way shape or form.
  14. I love that you guys aren't just looking at what won the polls, but also the feedback on specific components from the other options that people want as well.

It's very unlikely we'll alter course on this in the immediate future.
This right here is what I was afraid of, and specifically arguing AGAINST in those damned "Gender Equality" threads.

As I feared "Gender Equality" did in fact just turn out to mean "Everything for females."

Agreed on Mind, but honestly I think TJ is still a good power for Gravity.

Where Mind has a cone power that you *have* to use from range to maximize it's usefulness, Gravity can be played just as well from melee as it can from Range and the -ToHit/-Dmg can help a lot (at least at low level) when you've got jack, besides Crushing Field, for AoE control. (The large radius means you can still stay out of range of a mobs melee attacks, and reduce the effectiveness of their ranged attacks they'd be hitting you with anyhow.)

You could drop it later on though, once your control has matured a bit.
  20. Is it odd that I think the cleavage-window would actually go better with this costume than the costume that it's actually on?

I only dislike* it on her original costume because it also has a bikini/leotard style bottom. I think that's just more skin than needed, where I could see it going well on this costume, because it covers so much of the rest of her.

Also not sure I care for the seaming on the legs.

*Dislike is actually a strong word. I don't really Dislike it, but I don't really like it either.

Ah yeah, didn't think about the purple patch... so flooring the recharge of a level 54 AV (as a level 50 PC) would actually take closer to.... 1200% -Recharge? Likewise hitting the -Runspeed cap vs a 54AV would take nearly 1450%.

    Man that's a lot.

I'd say that depends more on where your control set plays from, than just being a Controller.

TJ can be a valuable tool for PBAoE based Controllers (Fire/Ice/Electric), but it's not very useful for characters that choose to play at range (Earth/Gravity/Mind/Plant), and can be mostly useless for those that basically have to play at range (Dark, due to it's mostly Cone based nature... which is a shame since the -ToHit would work incredibly well with Darkness Control).

I'd personally consider Temporal Selection the most skippable. I mean I *have* it on all my Time Manipulation characters, but with all my other tools I often forget it's even there.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

The goal of new currencies is to prevent people from just plopping down stored currency of the old type for the new stuff as soon as it comes out, then being bored/unhappy with the system again. (Plus the devs don't like to feel like their own work is being trivialized.)

The only other option I can think of to accomplish the same thing (not trivializing getting the new stuff) is for the new stuff to have an utterly ridiculous cost to it, which would in turn make those stockpiling players feel specifically slighted. This would likely also necessitate dramatically increased rewards for higher end trials to let non-hoarders actually get the new stuff. Which in turn would likely require additional gating (Must be +3 to join, etc) for the new trials, so as not to trivialize earning the lower incarnate levels. Which would then also split the trial raiding population into multiple groups, making it that much harder to form and run any trial of a particular type.

    So, yeah.
