Quote:People are misconstruing his words. He said that todays offering was his personal favorite. He maid no claims about what it was or what it's powerlevel or usefulness might be, NOR did he make any claims about whether others would or wouldn't like it.It's just really frustrating to hear "No staff tomorrow but oh man you guys are going to LOVE this!...It's the most infamous type of item in the game!"
If we simply got a "No staff tomorrow" I'd be more "Well okay
" than turning into the hulk.
And just or reference, I have never, and will never buy a vanity pet; and I want Staff Fighting very much. Even still I'm not going to whine and complain about pets because I can appreciate that while I might not like them others do. -

Quote:They fixed that.I don't want to make assumptions that this is the case for you, especially if it did get the bonus damage previously, but one thing for other people to be watch for is that when going through the account items, the first one in the list is the later vet reward - allowing a choice of what you have not already taken from Sands of Mu, the Ghost Slaying Axe, the Nemesis Staff, and the Blackwand, and the latter two do not receive the bonus damage for origin with that reward.
At least, the Staff With Bonus Damage reward now pops before the Staff/Axe/Sands of Mu reward when you Claim All. -
Quote:....You know, Oath...I can't help but chuckle at the irony. This statement coming from someone...with pictures of DOGS as their avatar...
.......Heh.
...Jus' sayin....it's kinda funny when you think about it.
Haha, yeah...
Well, ya see.... Basenji don't bark.
(They do make some god awful sound that basenji owners affectionately refer to as barooing or yodeling though... seriously they're like little howler monkeys.)(Youtube is full of people goading their basenji into it.) -

See, I disagree to an extent. I think that Epic At's are too theme restricting, and feel that having a new base Archetype would allow for broader ranges of character concept.
But on the other hand, Epics tend to have more unique mechanics to them that I (mostly) enjoy.
We've never really had a basic archetype added (aside from the villain ATs, which I don't really count), so I'd like to have one added... then they can toss in another Epic or two. -
Quote:Same for me really. (Though Demons have never really bothered me, probably because I've never spent all that much time leveling/grouped with one).On topic: these and the Demon noises are the first sounds that have ever bothered me enough to silence them.
Umbra Beast's barking just got on my nerves so much that I finally took that leap. Then I more or less figured "In for a penny, in for a pound" and started silencing every other sound that I don't care for.
Police Radio? Mute.
Portal Corps portals? Gone.
Base Portal? Not any more.
MM's Robots' footsteps? Shut it.
And so on, and so on. -
About $110 cause I essentially panicked that the Celestial set would go away before I had the chance to get it and bought enough points to get the tokens I needed for it.
Now I've had enough tokens to get it anyhow, and it's still part of the rewards... so I really didn't need to spend most of that money. Still have nearly 4k points. -
Quote:Yeah, it's too bad Stargate Worlds went belly up. I was really looking orward to it while it was still in development.Quite frankly, I'd totally go for a Stargate MMO (or a Starcraft MMO...), it would seem like it would be well suited for an MMO universe of interconnected worlds. You've got a variety of races and factions, and you've got a good first expansion already lined up (go to Pegasus!). Oh well, they would have probably completely botched it anyways.

Too late. The devs have proven that they're extremely unlikely to reorder powers on a Live set. (See page after page of posts in the Gravity Control beta thread. See also Brute/Stalker Electric Armor.)

Thanks ZM.
Quote:That would make sense, yeah.I don't see anything for the flock of ravens attack. Perhaps it uses this:
sound\Ogg\CostumeChanges\MurderOfCrows_01.ogg
Edit: None of these appear to be Pack Mentality's "thunderclap" (which I'm starting to think uses the same Hit sound as Electric Control's Static Field). -
Ok, what is(are) the file(s) for the Beast MM's Call Swarm ability?
I'm trying to play them off as Starlings for my Birdman of Zigursky character, but the buzzing is making that a bit difficult.
Edit: Might as well as for the files or Call Hawk and Call Ravens too (not that I want to silence those, but others might.) Oh, and the sorta Thunderclapy sound when you get a stack of Pack Mentality. -
1) There's supposed to be a contest where a player created character gets added to the game to fill in that last spot. (Similar to how Numina was created.)
2) No opinion about this one really. I hope so?
3) I was frankly hoping they'd drop Recluse too. He no longer has a "blueside equivalent" so I'd kind of like to see a shakeup with Arachnos. (All hail Lady Ghost Widow.)
4) I kinda doubt it.
5) Of all the Phalanx members, he's always been the one that struck me as most likely to turn Vigilante/Villain. They've also been doing a good deal of suggesting at Scirocco's possible redemption, so maybe they trade places. -
I've made characters based specifically off the lore, but I've also made characters that I don't give a crap about whether the lore supports them or not.
Ultimately why should I care? I'm not a Dev. My creations don't HAVE to fit neatly into the existing game world. -
Quote:Well, Praetorian Shalice Tillman is younger than Primal Shalice. By a lot.Probably not, given that no one else in Preatoria is.
Plus he acts even more like a teenager when you encounter him.
Our Sister Psyche is 91 (let that sink in, Ninety-one)*, where Mother Mayhem was born during the Hamidon Wars which took place after the Korean War, so couldn't be much older than 40 or 50, and I doubt she's even that old. She became a Praetor at 22.
*Born July 13, 1920 (this assume it's 2012 in game as well as in real life) -
Quote:I'd have to agree with Voodoo Girl. Sets are balanced as a whole, which means that while ideally there shouldn't be any worthless powers, not every power needs to be a keeper.Hey Devs,
I was wondering if you ever thought about changing Plant control (Spore Burst). Can you make it more like the way Electric control (Static Field). I like the way it is a Targeted (location AOE) Foe sleep. I think the plant character could throw some seeds on the ground and they release a poppy must in the air.
Just a thought since you updated some other control powers
Plant is widely regarded as one of the best control sets already (it has enough control, and far and away better damage than most other sets [admittedly more important to Controllers than Doms]). -
Quote:I'd have to agree with the majority here; Same as the other archetypes available on the market.I think you underestimate our desire to expand the game in more creative ways.
Counter question:
Let's say, hypothetically, we introduced a new AT, but because of the amount of time and cost it would take to develop it, we had no choice but to offer it in the Paragon Market (a possible scenario).
Based on our established precedents, what do you feel would be a fair price, in Paragon Points?
I'm interested in your responses. -
Quote:I've been debating making a Beast mastermind and only taking the two bird attacks. (Good lord that'd be a gimped character though.)Still going to be interesting if and when I take my 'power pools only from level 6' energy/elec brute Iron man build onto iTrials.
that is a big if though.
Birdman of Zigursky's not as catchy as Alcatraz, but what can ya do?
No seriously, if there's one thing Beast mastery has taught me, it's that more than anything I want a Bird Blast set. -
Quote:Indeed, as the article mentioned, these rats can get as big as (or bigger than) the average domesticated cat.Cats would be no good, unless they were tamed Lynx's or wild cats or something. Your average cat is a giant coward. Dogs aren't much better, given what vicious gits wild rats can be.
Quote:Well, be happy they´re from Africa. I they were australian, the rats would most likely be poisonous too.
And was that three feet long (with or w/o tail) or tall?
Three feet tall rats would be awesome and I´d definetly get myself a pair
Also, heh Australia. Why must everything there try to kill you? -
Holy cow, how does a 5 year old thread even still exist?
I'd have thought it would be purged at some point. -
Thanks a bunch Zombie, Psy. Liking Dark Control better already.

Quote:I don't think they'd even need to add a third detail category really, just put the same detail pieces in both Detail 1/Detail 2/Ears/What-have-you.Yeah, it wasn't until I started making and playing male characters that I realized how inflexible having only two face details really is... I know they've added new attachment points in the past, but I still get the feeling "third face detail" is not going to be in the cards.
Still holding out for a set of sideburns that are either a face detail 1 or attached to a non-ridiculously-styled hair, so they can be combined with the goatee I already have and I can stop faking by use of the Roman mask pattern and a completely-covered top half of the face...
For example:
You could put all of the Horns in the Ears category as well as in Detail 1, which would allow you to pair them with other items like Sunglasses, or the Jester masks at the cost of being stuck with normal ears.
While that obviously wouldn't solve every person's customization woes (Maybe I wanted a horned elf wearing an eyepatch) this would substantially broaden customization options without needing to rework the rig to try and fit in an additional anchor point.
(Another anchor point would be ideal though, were it feasible.) -
Quote:Indeed. I mean, really if they actually played with the set for 5 minutes they can't have NOT noticed how frequent and repetitive the barking is. Could they?I thought people were exaggerating until I got mine.
I don't know who in the art department thought making "Arf-arf-arf" go off every 5 seconds when idle was a good idea.
