ARG! GUH, wait... was there a new episode of Korra? Some kind of special preview? I thought the new episode was next week.

Happens all the time, with varying numbers of characters.
Back when I played Dark Age of Camelot, we had Team Wizzy, which was really just 1 guy who ran 7 Wizards (Ranged DPS) and 1 Minstrel (Crowd Control/utility).
He'd set up inside a keep* (usually around a blind corner) and absolutely slaughter any attackers. Caught within PBAoE range of 7 spellcasters, nothing (player-wise) survived more than 2 seconds.
*Being a fantasy MMO, Keeps were one of the main focuses of PvP. The ultimate goal was to kill the keep's Lord and capture it for your realm (faction). Each realm had 6 keeps, IIRC. Sometimes you'd have several hour long sieges involving hundreds of people. -
Quote:Fixed, for minor nitpick. One of the new things we're seeing in this new series is the intermarrying of nations. The first example being that of Aang and Katara. Their oldest child is a water bender and Tenzin, the youngest obviously took after Aang. The other example is Mako and Bolin who must have one parent that was [of Fire Nation descent] and one that was [of Earth Kingdom descent]. So genetics do have a part to play in who can bend what.
Benders can be born to non-benders, so it's more accurate to list their nationality than the particular bending style of their nationality.
Neither of Katara's parents were waterbenders, likewise neither of Toph's parents were earthbenders. Bonus points, neither of Korra's parents appear to be benders, and she's the Avatar. -
Man, the shippers are really having a field day with Legend of Korra. Seems like everyone who could be shipped together have been.
Korra/Mako, (obviously)
Linzin (Lin/Tenzin)
LinLin (Lin/Bolin) which kinda makes me giggle a bit. Lin's quite the cougar.
Lin/Korra
Lots of Toph/Sokka... though that makes Lin/Tenzin feel skeezy.. cause they'd be cousins
KehnLin (Kehn being the fanon name for the attractive metalbender cop who got stripped of his bending by Amon. (Lin apparently has a thing for younger men)

It honestly seems too niche to me.
All of the Hybrid powers offer some degree of value to every player, regardless of build or Archetype... Command Hybrid really doesn't.
It's made specifically for one set of characters in mind; those with pets.
And while yes it's possible for most(All?) Archetypes to get a pet, it requires specific builds (PPPs). That gives it an exceedingly narrow appeal. -
Quote:Keep an eye out for the Weekend Superheroics threads. We discuss new episodes of Legend of Korra (among other things) there.Soo what about that Amon...Resistant to bloodbending...CRAy-ZeE!
Quote:Aang was able to bypass bloodbending too, my thoughts are as follows, Amon is linked to Koh or some other nefarious spirit worlder
While I could see Koh being behind it all, it also seems just a bit too obvious. (Mask = Koh)
Again, feel free to join in the weekly discussions, where the thread is less likely to get necro locked. -

Quote:I could agree with that.... there's also another something something that was "leaked" (I think there will be one more thing in Praetoria... A trial for Hami and the unlock of the Genesis slot with it using Advanced Physical iXP. I would guess it would be issue 24. That plus Nature Affinity and Bio Armor seems to be a pretty consistent theme for an issue.
--Rad) which could fit in with that theme.
Ultimately I think (hope) we'll get Nature Affinity (and less so Bio Armor) before Issue 24, though. -
Quote:I'd actually be more inclined to ask for TF Penny to be changed to the Faultline model....I might've missed it, but are people calling for an update of Faultline's Penny Yin to look more like the Penny Yin Task Force? Its a similar timeline-disconnect issue that we handwave away...
The Penny TF happens WITHIN the level range of the Faultline arcs, not after. You can literally finish the story arc with Child Penny in Faultline, pop over to IP and do Adult Penny's TF, then go back to Faultline to do Agent G's arc and run into Child Penny again.
It's a chronological clusterfrag.
Add to that, LGTF version of Penny should be replaced with her Adult version, and her dialog modified to fit in needed. -
Quote:I rather like that actually. It lets me delve powers without cluttering up another channel that people might actually give a crap about. How do you think they'll fix that when they added a new one that lets you talk into team chat as soon as you enter a mission solo, which persists until you manually use the command "/leaveteam"?
Try it sometime.
Also, if everyone else quits the team, leaving you "off team" then you will still be tracked as on their team until you manually "/leaveteam", at least for things like "the active player on your team is now..." messages.
I saw this one day before it caused a crash of my game.
Everything is getting worse. -
Quote:It's also possible that Hama was a relatively weak waterbender who could only bloodbend with the full moon.Same reason Toph was able to figure out how to metal bend. Some folks manifest their abilities in different ways, and improve upon standard techniques. I don't think the Moon has to be full for any ability to bloodbend to surface. The Moon just heightens their abilities, and when it's full, that's when the amount of power most water benders would need to bloodbend is present. Water benders just assumed they could only bloodbend at full moon because that's the only time they ever saw it. Obviously Tarlok is stronger than the average water bender, or even stronger than an exceptional waterbender like Katara.
Where it's entirely possible that Katarra might have been able to, if she had ever been inclined to. She just never was, because she was horrified at it's use (and ultimately regretted using it the few times that she did).
It was already evident that Katarra was a much stronger waterbender, having been able to break Hama's bloodbending with no experience or practice with the technique.
Katarra (and the others) could simply have accepted Hama's implication that it could only be done under the full moon, because Katarra never cared to test that fact. -
Quote:One really needs to include the next sentence of that post, because it was a continuation (explanation) of that statement.Aang was physically 64-69 when he died. Chronologically, he was 164-169.
He was 13 at the end of the original series. 70-75 years have passed between the two series. When he died, Korra was born, and she is now 19.
Yes he was considered to be in his 60, but he wasn't. Since his time in stasis did count against his lifespan, it needs to be included when discussing the overall length of his life.
While he was considered to be in his 60s, he was actually in his 160s, so his life was not short for an Avatar. (If anything it's Avatar Roku who got shafted. He died at 70. The real 70. No stasis shenanigans.) -
I don't see Amon being Yakone.
If he were, why would he have taken Tarrlok's bending away? Tarrlok is his son (born ~5years after Aang took Yakone's bending away). He taught Tarrlok bloodbending, and Tarrlok was working towards the same goal his father had been. Carrying on the family business, so to speak. -

Quote:Aang was much older than 66. He may not have visibly aged while suspended in the Avatar state, but it did count against his lifespan.New crazy theory with no basis what so ever. Amon is Aang. Most Avatars live long lives. As in the 200 year range. Aang died at age 66. My crazy theory is that he didn't really die but rather turned to the dark side like Vader. As was said, if you attempt to bend life energy you have the potential to become corrupted.
As a result his soul was torn asunder. So Korra isn't a true reincarnation of the avatar but rather a partial reincarnation minus the part of the spirit that was Aang. This is the reason she can't bend air. It is also the reason Amon can't be fully blood bent. He continuously exists in the avatar state which is what is keeping him alive, but also limiting him.
Eventually it will be discovered and Korra will lead him back to the light. At which point Aang will give up his life force to Korra and the avatar will become whole again and able to bend air.
Quote:It's not exactly crazy to think that they creators would -not- spoil the main reveal of the first season (Possibly the second) before it started.
There would simply have been no need for them to make up a smokescreen to hide anything. Particularly with the "word of god" about Aang's age.
He was old, he died, new Avatar. -
Quote:It's The Magician's arc in Night Ward.Thank you.
My bad, I meant when happened, in which story arc instead the place hehe.
Quote:That's part of the level = time bit, I believe. THAT version of her hasn't changed.
The Belladonna Vertano arc should really have the Serene War Witch, though... -
Quote:True enough, I had mentioned something similar in one of the previous threads, though I was discussing a "water tribe healer" rather than a Bloodbender. Still, Waterbender with intimate knowledge of human anatomy.Another possibility is that Amon is a bloodbender. If there is one ability that can affect a person's ability to bend, it is bloodbending. It would also explain why Amon could overcome Tarlokk's attack. Tarlokk's father was subjected to Aang and his ability to remove bending so he could have learnt it from Aang directly. Also it would make sense to overthrow the country and start a revolution since that was what Tarlokk and his father planned to do.
Quote:The Legend of Korra - I imagine that Amon's ability allows him to resist other forms of bending. Well know that Korra started to see visions of Aang, will she go into the Avatar state when Amon tries to remove her bending? Or does he succeed and the 2nd half of the series is her quest to recover her abilities and allow her to restore bending to others?
It's possible also that he could remove her Water/Fire/Earth bending, but not her Airbending as she can't bend it yet... so she could still learn airbending after her encounter and possibly gain access to the avatar state. It'd be interesting to have an Avatar who was incapable of (most) bending unless in Avatar state.
There's also the possibility that Amon's Energybending simply won't work on Korra. Aang very nearly lost in the attempt to remove Fire Lord Ozai's bending, as willpower/spirit is a deciding factor.
"In order to bend another's life energy, [your] own spirit must be un-bendable, or [you] would be corrupted and destroyed."
I think ultimately her Avatar state kicking in at the last moment is most likely.
I really hope they don't do something silly like having Asami go off all scorned and break her father out of prison/join the Equalists or something. -
Quote:I agree. It would have been easy enough for Lin to sense the side tunnel. I suppose maybe they thought it might seem repetitive to have Lin use her seismic sense three times during the same episode.I was actually at the opposite end of the spectrum. I was convinced that this would be a redeem from the dark side storyline. Until the point when he stabbed Artemis and I realized it was a deep undercover arc after all.
Korra: So Amon isn't Tarrlok. I guess I called that one wrong. I was amazed at the amount of story they packed into this episode. By the end of the episode it felt like at least an hour had passed. I was annoyed by the "coincidence" though. The one with the two bikers using the secret passage right as our heroes happened to be next to it. There were so many other ways that passage could have been discovered without requiring a bad coincidence.
I find myself really liking Lin. This episode really let her bending shine during the escape scene. I really do like that they're finally letting lose with the old school bending. -
Indeed. He doesn't have blood, he has oil!
I'm starting to think though that he's not human, but rather a spirit manifestation. Possibly Koh (though that seems too obvious, just due to the mask).
We know that Koh stole Avatar Kuruk's fiance's face as punishment for him not taking his Avatar role seriously enough... maybe Koh manifest as/created Amon as some sort of punishment for Korra's lack of spirituality?
Eh, I dunno. Seems convoluted at best. -
I really want to know what the deal is with Amon now. Not only does he possess a type of bending he shouldn't (energybending) but he's immune/highly resistant to another type of bending that he shouldn't be (bloodbending).
-
I suppose you could take that as a good sign...
For what it's worth, I'd like to see some interface effects that were more directly beneficial for your character, rather than all offensive in nature. It'd add a good deal to the slot, where for the most part the only choice currently is "What damage type do I want on my DoT?"

Quote:Not as part of the customization no, but Titan Weapons and Water Blast's Water Jet must already have the tech required to have alternate sounds because they all have two animations (One shorter) which necessitates calling up an alternate set of sound files so that the sfx match up with the animation. No power ingame currently has the option of alternate sounds, so I'd assume that one would take some work. The visual effects could be done as alternate animations, though.
The groundwork for sound customization could well already be in place.
(I'm not saying it'd be easy, of course. I wouldn't know even if I could look at the game's code... cause that's all Greek to me anyhow.) -
Yellow and Red are off-limits due to some crazy notion of it being used for urine or blood, highly saturated colors are just out because it makes the Ice look too much "like gems."
I think both of those arguments are hogwash, myself.
1) There's still other sets that you can use to approximate blood with.
2) Why *shouldn't* I be allowed to make my Ice look like gems? I can make fire into toxic clouds, or dark armor into sand armor or water armor, why does Ice HAVE to be Ice?
