  1. My Night Widow

Etherweb----She was a computer hacker before, and then sent to prison.

She went rogue-ish. But She is super neatorific!!!!

    This!!! And Ill explain.

DnD mentality!!! (Or WoW) Rogues...which this class feels like in many or all aspects of combat (Other than disarming traps etc) has burst damage on surprise, but limited armour (Canadian...so sue me)...and cant handle the brunt of an Alpha. Some can, if built that way,but many people, including me come to this AT with the concept of the DnD rogue. Which is an excellent class build on bursty goodness. The only concern is with a group. Alone they are amazing, usually because they pick their targets very closely.

However, when in a team with a tank and others one sometimes forgets exactly what they can do, and considering this is (From my understanding) mainly a villains AT, a Brute can hold aggro but not like a tank which leaves the Stalker being the next object of doom fore most enemies.

But now I argue the issue of aggro. To say a Stalker is not more desirable than a Scrapper depends. If a tank can hold Aggro better than a brute, would a stalker not be more efficient in a hero based environment. I mean, they have mega damage, and the tank takes the brunt, or the blaster, because technically the burst damage by the Stalker will be out classed by the Blaster who will, or can draw aggro off the tank easier due to consistant damage.

    Ah...Im drunk....(Or as we Canadians call it...NormaL)

I ramble. The point is. The issue with group Stalking is a Stalker role. You are not meant to take the Alpha. You are meant to hit the hardest enemy the hardest you can, and then Scrap it out with Scrappers! It's your burst that makes you special.

Although I think you are all special!

In that case I'd get a scrapper...At least then there's a team member doing consistent damage
I wont disagree with anything you have said, but I think a well placed Stalker is in fact a great tool for a team. Scrappers are excellent, but I wont sneeze at the Stalker because it has solid merits, but that being said, experienced Stalker players know whats going on and when to strike.

I for instance see a lot of Elec doms/controllers wondering why they die right away. Chained fences is amazing, but like the Stalker itching for the first blow, it gains them the fortunate benefit of the Alpha Strike. Yay!!!

Im saying, Let the tank or tankier types do their thing. You will still dish damage or control, just not as much as some others, but knowing your role in a group is important. I learned that with my dark/dark Stalker and more my Widow. Im not a tank, can't take the alpha, should be taking it unless Im teamed with those who are less tankier than I am.
  4. Well...and this is not a slight against you OP, because I don't play that way.

I find with a slot of the scrappy/stalker players that they charge a lot. Stalkers charge and "Run" a lot, and mostly what I have experienced on teams is a Stalker itching to see the giant "Assassins Strike" font only to find the hospital button popping up.

I know...I have seen it and done it too with my Widow and my Stalker.

The issue I have is with the patients and believing that being invis is like being invulnerable. A ton of stalkers contribute to damage, but mainly when the focus is redirected from them. Thats when they appear to shine the most.

Going in guns blazing is a tanks job...or a blaster because they are usually insane to begin with and love debt more than I like candy!!!

Stalkers of all classes should be patient. I mean...it sort of implies it in the name right. To stalk? Stalking...Skulking, hiding...assassinating things by watching their every move.

But the itch gets to the scrappies and the stalkies. I don't personally mind, but when I am on my Emp Defender Stalkers are usually the ones I res second to blasters...which I have mentioned above.

I view Night Widow as claw set. Those that don't like Shockwave's knockback should try full claw build in widow. It's just as damaging but without the hassle of aoe knockback.

Other ATs have one or two sets that are really good (or overpowered) but VEATs on average starts out really well and you rarely feel they are underpowered (unless you skip leaderships).
Yes. I would agree that they have a "Right out of the Box" goodness to them. I don't feel lacking. Which is refreshing, because sometimes I feel that way about my other AT's.

Widow is just a really enjoyable change, just because she is effective for solo and group play.

This has nothing to do with this thread at all.

I just really love the name Joan of Arkansas
  7. I liked him tons.

I was playing my Emp/Psi. He does not like Psi attacks, which meant with my Power Boost from the Epic power pool, I was hitting him pretty hard.

If you pull him to the corner area and the tanks crash him, I can line my Auras (Also boosted by the awesome power) and Adren some one and fort the others and focus on damage and health pools dont go down.

    It makes me happy.

    I like him.

I thought this as well. Night Widows are a good example. Fortunata, Crabs etc. Im newly working on a Warshade so I wont comment there, but it seems Assault/Defense is available upon unlock.

However, the Dom assault Style as primary with a Defense based secondary would be great, although I feel as though it would either dwarf the blaster, or be very tank mage oriented.
  9. Ok. So my thoughts on a Night Widow are slightly different because I am trying a hybrid.

I took my melee, and I took Psi Blast, Poison Dart and Dart Burst. I did this because I enjoy building Doms, but realized I only liked them because of the mix of melee and range. So I built my widow this way.

Foresight is amazing. I love it. It's practically the thing that makes me love my Widow the most, and if I team with lowbies and it vanishes, I feel like I am fighting naked.

Smoke Bomb is good. Although it's not something everyone praises, I play with a ton of stalkers and nearly always my stealth is not gonna cut it, and so it helps, and also it allows me to pull more effectively in those situations that are in need.

As for Elude...I wanted to get it, but now Im slightly concerned about taking it. It sounds good though on paper.

I am avoiding Psi Scream, because I wont need it, although it does decent damage, but I only want one Psi related power and thats Psi Blast, because it's fast, efficient, hits things that are resistant to lethal and toxic with more oomph and does not draw a ton of aggro on me.

I was going to avoid Placate, but after hearing about possible enjoyment of spousal abuse, how could I. Although now I just need a spouse or teach my cat how to play City of Heroes. I think he would be a scrapper.
  10. Ok. So maybe Im not one to talk. Cuz I just started the game.

(Although I did play for years when the game came out, and then made the mistake of going to another superhero game which sucked)

It's amazing how playstyles change overtime. Originally I was obsessed with controllers. Then I became obsessed with Doms.

Now I have a Defender whos 50 (My first one) and well. I dont much enjoy her.

Then I got me a widow, and I love both the Night Widow and the Fortunata, because they do a little of everything really. Or so it seems.

Although Im having some slight endurance issues with my Widow at the moment, which I am sure can be corrected over time, I feel that she does pretty much anything that I need her to do, or always has something up her sleeve which makes her feel pretty powerfull compared to, say, my Kheld Warshade, which is annoying because of the knockback issues that I have with her. Although I recognize her versatility.

I also really enjoy the fact that my Widow, which I made a Hybrid on purpose has that type of versatility.

She feels very much like a Spines Scrapper, with a touch of Dark Armor added in for effect with just the right amount of Super Reflexes.

While I support the others in saying that they might not be the "Best" I will say that they blow my defender out of the water, and she is a solid build, for Empathy/Psi
  11. I used my second build for my Emp/Psi and removed things I did not enjoy. Sure she is still heavy on the heals, but I got rid of powers in my attack chain that

A: were just not hitting or not hitting for enough
B: Amped up my attack chain for more accuracy
C: Took some leadership in place of powers I did not like
D: Took Power Mastry again, but this time slotted it more

Of course now my attack chain is a Snipe, TK Blast, Will domination, and Scramble thoughts and while that sounds unimpressive, it's actually working much better than my original build, because I can still focus on healing.

I have decided to bring my Widow over though. Seriously, that AT is pretty fun, and those dart thingies...well I like the fun sound effect.
  12. I always thought GW should be the most powerfull Villain ever. She does have the most powerfull super power in CoX....Moving animated magical pretty hair.

But My STF I was on as my Emp/Psi defender kicked her butt easy.

    We had the following.

    Tank
    Scrappers X2
    Blaster
    MM
    Controller
Defender X2 My Emp and Their Kin

Psi Damage works quite good on her or at least seems too.
  13. I want to, but red is sometimes hard to come by groups. My Blue healer always has group fun. I just wish there was someting like a Widow for the blue side.

Either way, I will remain loyal to the game becuase In my oppinion this is a really nice bunch of folks.
  14. I spent forever leveling my Defeder to 50...and now shes there. I'm sad.

She cant hit anything. She's emp Psi, and altough she was never my main she has become my main due to her usefullness.

I subbed for 6 months becausel I Lke the gaame.

I just cant find anything to make me stick with one thing.

I have a stalker, a Dom, a Widow, a Warshade, a controller who is scappy, and, and my defender.

Part of my probem, stems fom being new, the other aspect is that Im used to playing classical healers (My own fault),,it just seems that the other folks are having a blast and Im just hanging out (But with cool boots)

I hate to ask someone what I should play as my main....But I know that the widow fits me completely. Seriously...I love her...Alot.

Right now, being frustrated, I will take any word of advice.

Instead of all of the complaining, I don't know, get your friends together and all decide to spend a week playing red side only. And not just together, but spread out a little. Encourage some growth.
Im not disagreeing with you. But if no ones around, no one would know that the man was dying. I make jest of course.

I like Red. I have always liked red in many cases more than blue. But I enjoy teaming more than either side, so you go where you get the most bang for your buck
  16. I desperately want to play my widow, but the only time she groups is when I portal her to praet.

Red Side is dead. I have attempted starting teams, finding teams.

Heck I have now moved all of my red side toons over to the blue side, by either tipping them or starting them over in praet.

Sad though because the villain side has so much flare.
  17. I got the White-Swan up to level 49 with a half a bubble to go, and I just can't bare to have her as my first 50. Shes Empathy/Psi, and although I loved her I just cant bring myself to play her.

    Healing is a thankless profession.
  18. Actually. I argue some times about Plant, because I really like it.

Im not a fan of single target emobes, and all to often (Yes I am looking at you Elec doms and your chained fences) our AOE imobes are huge AEO and draw a ton of aggro to the squishy dom. I have roots and I like it, but I use it only when the tanks have addequate aggro control. Id never open with it.

I open with Seeds, then hit the roots, and snare the boss

I also love Spore Burst for what it's worth. Sometimes people aggro two mobs and I can at least halt one.

Car Creepers is pretty awesome control and damage for a non controlish type power

Seeds is by far our best, but I see no harm in the other powers. When combined with thorny assault or other assault set with single target capabilities or some AOE when soloing, Spore Burst the group, Then apply a strangler on the tuff boss and pick them off one by one.

I even find uses for the damn tree. That tree can really help out, especially in ambush situations when you have enemies on all sides.

Sun Flower: Team. Gather around my magical healing bush fror comfort.
    Team: o_0
Sun Flower: Let my magical bush tend your wounds.

Then they gather and it heals them and it makes a fine obstical that enemies can't fully croud you.
  19. I love my Plant/thorns Dom. Seriously. She really does some cool things.
  20. Ill play. But none of mine seems all that odd...so sorry if I bore you.

I have Show-Girl (Illusion/FF controller, who uses kick, flurry and Air Superiority more than some of her illusions)

    White-Swan (Empathy-Psi...boring...probably common)

Nyte-Terror (Dark Melee/Dark Armor Stalker...which people told me was rare)

Sun Flower (Plant -Thorns Dominator...also boring or common)

I deleted a ton of toons or rerolled them. Nyte-Terror was Demon/Poison but Im not a huge Mastermind fan. I wish I could just get Whip Melee
  21. My Empathy/Psi Defender, White-Swan uses her snipe most of all. Psi Lance is pretty good. I love it so much I actually maxed it, and put in a sniper set which was cheap to purchase.

I find that I use it a ton. Sure it's slow, but when you have a tank and a few others taking aggro, it's a solid power. And with Empathy I appreciate the damage it brings.

I think the concern though, and I could be wrong about the sniper attacks for stalkers would be in early game PVP. I think that is where it might be the main issue. Plus the damage would have to be slightly less than the Assassins srtike type of attacks. Otherwise it would detract from using those types of attacks. With the Stalker being squishy no one would take the melee attacks, because they are actually or feel just as long as snipes.
  22. Nyx

    Empathy/Psi

Ok. My main (Who was not supposed to be my main but now apparently is my main /Rant End) is empathy Psi

Empathy I get, and Im pretty decent with it.

What the heck is up with Psi? It seems ok, but sloooooowwww! Psionic Tornado is...well...I dunno? It just does not seem effective at all.

My other powers are ok, but Will domination, Psionic Lance and Telekinetic Blast seem great. Scramble thoughts is ok too for most situations. I just feel like I rely a lot on my snipe.

    Anyone else find this?
  23. Well thanks for the stimulatng debate. I don't want to derail this fun thread with the healing debate.

    We all have our oppinions.

Best Misinformation though was standing on the enemy to prevent them from resing. That...is priceless.
  24. I have an illusion/FF.

I have low damage potential, but I took, Kick, Air Superiority and Flurry.

Sounds silly maybe but Im at least doing more damage and I love being in melee, and yet...I just dont like the melee toons out there.

But I do love Tough. I wont take weave because of my build, but beating your hands on your chest and yelling, and then beating things senseless in melee after stunning them is super fun!

To agree with Local man, I would not do this with many other trollers, but with Ill/FF I find it great
