You might not enjoy the a Grav/Fire Dom though as the coolness of grav diminished greatly with domination.
Why not alter things and make a Ice/Fire Dom. Does not stop time but stops things and blows them up. It's a really deadly combo.
It's true though we lack for some things that mimic more sorcery based powers.
If you wanted something more subtle that "Stops Time/Movement, I would even go with Mind/Fire Dom. Minds animations are generally subtle in most cases, and could be used to simulation both Pru and Piper's special talents, but teaming it with fire in my mind would echo Piper more. -
Best travle power = Personal Forcefield.
Hamsterball travel mode.
sprint and hamsterball = win -
Quote:Ill close, considdering abonded this vain glorious post because Ill let other do what they should or will. I wont kick your playstyle in the butt...but I will question it if you think yo can do things you can't.Well, maybe you're too nice a person heh. When I'm on my support toons (mainly Corrs), if someone is not within my healing/buff range, it is usually their fault, not mine. Don't get me wrong, I do make an attempt to assist them if they're in trouble and also nearby (but just out of range). However if they're half way across the map then it's not my responsibility. If they die, there's always the hospital.
I only say this because I am also quite guilty of going off on my own sometimes. This is especially the case when I'm playing my Brutes, Doms, MMs and certain Stalkers. Of course I don't expect anyone to come help me when I'm in that mode. After all, if I do get into trouble, I can always pop inspirations and return to the group. Not too proud to retreat
We all have a job to do, If you prevent me from doing mine, then you are a risk to my team. My role is simple...It takes little brain power, but it's my job and Ill do it. Screw the team cuz you thing you are a special unique butterfly then have you wings clipped.
Vain glorious yes. Smart no...this post is a post of a non team player who comes across as being elite. (But I assure you...this is out of charachter for this pesron.)
The only thing I find bothersome is that he OP is a wise player who's advice I have grown to trust in some builds. The confusing part is that he would make this post in the first place.
If he/she chooses to put me on ignore then it's my loss because other concepts they put out are solid. This thread is and will always be stange to me, because if someone can offer such great advice, then they also know when they are not offering anything that should be taken with a grain of salt.
I love your ideas, I love the fact that you know your game...but I don't like the fact that you trivialized yourself trying to prove something that we already know. You know your stuff! Just dont blame others (Not that you were implying you were, but you could by your words put fuel onto the fire) if something turns horribly wrong and you wish to dodge the bullet. -
I am mixed. I have tried the journey. Liked it, but trying to level up something red side the journey bites.
The journey is fun, but sometimes it is hindering, especially when the cool stuff now is happening end game.
Again I am mixed. I like doing arcs and stuff, but sometimes I just wish I could get som, ewhere quicker.
I think that is how new player will feel coming into the incarnate age. Not all of them, but it has definately been toted as a new shiny feature, that some might get frustrated trying to get there. It sometimes feels like a rush.
I am trying to give both sides.
Some toons = Journey
Some toons = Grind -
New people are discouraged by the market. I am confused by it, but still manage to make it work for me. But truthfully, when I see a ruby selling for a million some money I can only assume someone bought all of em and then upped the price.
Thats crappy. Thats crappy for new people especially and old people alike.
This market is better than some I have seen in games, but really there is a certain undertone to it which is not friendly. -

Quote:Don't make me smack you with my THAC0!What AC to solo the praetorian arc?
Depends on what class you're playing. Starting out, if you're a front line melee type, you'll want to start with probably a 15 or 16. If you're a magic user, you'll have buff spells, so you can get away with a much lower AC. I'd still go for a 12 or higher though.
By the time you're level 20 I'd say you want close to a 40 on a melee type (including druids/clerics). If you're an arcane spellcaster it doesn't really matter, since if things are targetting your AC, you're doing something wrong.
Edit: I just dated myself. Darn! -
Quote:My controller. the Grav/FF uses the holds to mitigate knockback. I rarely use a AoE Imob because of aggro. However you will find that if you choose grav you really dont need many of it's powers. So you have more to play around with really. I can mitigate knockback with this build, and bubbling is less effort than you think. I can run a team of 8 and field everyone up without much effort and keep it going because gravs holds are excellent.OP,
Oh man. I like the sound of that.
I'm running a grav/storm and it feels kinda like work sometimes. O2 boost is an extremely busy power that I have to stay on top of or essentially forget about. Gale is only good as an emergency button, and it is easy to scatter with, hard to herd with.
Now FF would just be rebubbling every 3 minutes and I tend to play on a 4 person team so it wouldn't be THAT much rebubbling. It'd mitigate the damage that isn't mitigated by Hold/Knockback. And rather than the allies-only nature of O2 boost, I'd get some personal defense to help with aggro when I AoE.
I am definitely thinking about rebuilding Rebuilt Lucille. /FF even happens to better suit her former-telekineticist-rebuilt-as-cyborg-after nearly-being-cut-in-half shtick.
Even Grav Distortion field mitigates the knockback. I have Wormholed enemies who are in a Grav Distortion field just to build up magnitude because it stuns and they don't knockback at all. But the stun adds to my other holds power.
But again, if I need to use propel to hit an enemy, send them flying off of my defender, blaster or anyone really in need I love it.
Plus, knockback is epic. In movies it's always epic when someone is sent flying from an explosion or a super anime punch to the head. It's just epic to watch.
My Rad/NRG blaster is super tiny. Glitter-Bug!!! and when she hits with her "Sunshine Fist" and the huge clockwork goes flying, well...I think thats pretty darn special! -
I am. We have a lot of other types. This is what I am thinking really. At first glance this will not have a snipe, nor major AOE attacks because throwing weapons in my mind should be more natural. And unlike Archery we cant really have explosions. But I have some other ideas to make it a versatile set.
1) Shuriken - The warrior lets fly a throwing star causing minor Lethal damage and a minor Toxic Dot. Damage Minor/Special Recharge Fast
2) Kunai - Flings a Kunai with causing moderite lethal damage. The narcotics coating the blades have a chance to disorient. Damage Moderate, Recharge Fast. (Other Option would be to replace the Disorient with a Lethal DoT but Kunai were often poisoned so I went with my gut.)
3) Boomerang - Throws a boomerang in a wide cone, hitting all enemies with smashing damage with a chance to disorient. Damage Moderate, Recharge Moderate
4) Aim
5) Circle of Stars. Lets loose a PbAOE attack as the warrior spins, unleashing devastating volly Shuriken to the enemies around them. The Toxins coating the stars inflict toxic damage over time. Damage Moderate Recharge Moderate
6) Bola - The Warrior is trained in throwing the bola. While designed to stagger or drop enemies, the bola also smashes the victim. Moderate Smashing damage /Snare(Slow) chance for Imob
7) Splitting Chakram. This ancient, thin bladed circle when thrown splits in a cone causing all those hit to suffer serious bleeding injuries. Damage High on impact with minor DoT (Bleeding). Recharge Slow.
8) Wave of Blades. The warrior unleashes a devastating cone of bladed bommerangs inflicting a devestating torrent of damage to those hit. Those hit may be stunned by the toxic narcotics used to coat these blades. - Wide, Moderate Range Cone, Damage High, chance to disorient / Recharge, long
9) Falling Stars. Your Prowess with Shuriken has grown allowing you to fling your stars into the air, sending them crashing down on your enemies in a deadly rain of falling stars. Those who wallk through the path of your falling stars will have their movement hindered as the blades catch them. Targeted AOE, Damage High (DoT), -fly /Snared during the DoT. Recharge Very Long or long...either really(Think Caltrops for the movement penalty)
It's 5 am here. I should really not be writing new powersets, but I think with some tweaking this idea could be functional.
Again, very cone based with some single target options. I wanted to focus on disorients mostly and snares because researching many of the weapons mentioned narcotics or poisons were added for effect. I also liked the ideas of snare effects, because throwing weapons were generally used to stagger opponents before entering into melee. But I really wanted to keep it as natural feeling as possible, without treading on Archery to much.
Unfortunately natural would mean less aoe, some cones, and not the range of other powers.
I hope you like some of the ideas

Thought about it and I am neck'n'neck with powers.
I love Singy. Serously...it does what I want, when I want it, and I always have a really neat...friend....thing.
But Dual blades is like watching ballet. I can't pin point a power in that set. There is nothing I would classify as super awesome...except when It happens it looks super awesome to the point where I think my toon should be on "You think you can dance"!
It's pretty to watch and even if I die...It's still pretty. It's not a single power, but it needs mention definately.
But Singy is definately my fave.
third mention is anything with -fly. Why? Cuz its fun traveling the mission map, seeing things that are really not bothersome flying about and then hitting them with the -fly and watching them fall.
I also enjoy force bolting things off of roofs, bridges and anything up high really...are they the best, no, but darn are they amusing. Like when I got Wormhole! Not the most powerfull thing...but come on, for poops and giggles alone it's worth the purchase: -

While I love knockback Solo...I can see why (I play a scrapptroller) it can annoy.
Do I love it! YES! Do I think it's mitigation! YES! because it is frankly, even if others complain.
My Main is a tank/scrapper/stalker friendly Grav/FF. Min knockback etc, however I will not hestitate to use wormhole to pull mobs off of our defender or squishies and I never get complaints.
I love it, and I hate it. Stunns break mobs nearly as much but they dont take people out of melee range, however a knockback should not be appologized for, as I have seen it (Especially my Rad/NRG Blaster) save my life more than almost any form of mitigation. -
Usually this is not a normal orccurance. This person was obviously just a jerk, and that will be common in all games, even Hello Kitty Adventer Island prolly has a few brats in need of a smack.
Jers are jerks, and the funny thing is that those in broadcast or heard it were prolly as surprised as you to hear it. I have seen where someone comments on a persons leadership or game play style rudely and the community tells em where to go.
I am on Virtue and well, it's a fine server and most of the time people are not this way. It will happen to all of us "See the rude tells thread", but the best thing you can do is to petition for harassment, or ignore that person. Join an SG and run with them. SG's usually have loyal people and will stick up for one an other, which in my experience is a perfect place to put your son and yourself. -
For me I was deleting things because they became lack lustre or I just didn't enjoy the premise of their story. I have also deleted earlier toons because I borked their builds, and their second builds too.
I have since stopped deleting and have a 5 toons I take out regularly. All really different AT types. My Scrapper is my slowest to level because I have to get used to the melee game.
You think I would because my fave is my widow, but scrappers have little range options and I hate running things so my Widow makes sure things do not run away. Plus I love that PSsssstch sound of Poison Dart for some reason. -
I played in amyn groups. But my Soloer would have to have been my Elec/Storm Corr, and my Grav/FF Scraptroller
Grav gives you just the right amount of control, and offense, and FF gives you solid protection when things get down to the rough. I took the fighting pool and litterally sailed through most of the content with Ease.
The Local Man gave me an idea for a better build which I am using now, and it would have allowed me to sail through things even easier.
A dom though gives you the versatility of Controlls, Range, and melee. and you wont feel the need to heal a ton. I really liked Mind/Thorns, two very unresistable damage types. Alas I deleted her for some reason because I took things that I just mismanaged. I should make her again really.
She soloed brilliantly -
I really like my DB/DA Scrapper, minus the knockback...which is sort of fun to watch anyways.
DB is like watching a blender do ballet!
Also it does have an AOE component which is good for mobs.
I like DA, and allthough you need to manage it more and toggle different things during different battles occasionally it does do things that other sets don't offer and is close to the Warshades powers only it will give you the satisfaction of melee if you are craving it.
A Night Widow is also sweet. I made a Hybrid with melee and some of the range attacks. It's offensive/support sure, but it's not support in the classic sense. It's just brutal! Think Spines, mixed with DA/WP/SR and stalker stealth, with DBs PbAoe abilities. For kicks, make a second build with Fortunata skills. Essentially you have two different toons all in one. -
Memphis Bill says NO!
LOL
Actually his guide alt Altism is pretty good.
Because of it I dusted off my Grav/FF and gave her another shot -
Ok. I wan't these in order
1) Cloak and Dagger!
2) Doctor Strange and the Protectors
3) Spider Woman (Guilty pleasure, and fave super lady)
3) Green Arrow and Black Canary (Old Teammates version) -
I somtimes map server 2 times in a mission. For no reason. It's annoying. I have talked with customer support, but no resolution and I have tried most things.
If you do find a solid solution please share it. -
I guess it depends on the team and experience of the players etc. But...
I stick by my point. I think it was clear enough. I don't want to offend anyone by it, it's just how I have seen it happen. I don't always play support and it happens then too. So it's accross the board.
Unfortunately I have nothing more I can really add to this tread as I said what I think. So I move to PPD Bikini team just cuz it's funnier. -
I just hate getting the fool card. Ick. throws me off.

After todays game playing experience...No. "I am under obligation to save you"!
This entire thread comes down to essentially people who solo, or who believe that they can be the exception. However, WE, the support toons are under the obligation to save you. If we don't we might not get flack from you, but like in all games, you will get the "Heals Suck" "Buffs not constant", "Where were you" "We wiped it's your fault"
Sorry, but this thread, and others can back me up if they have played any other game in the entire universe which is multiplayer, which features both buffs and heals, that you WILL be the first one the eyes look at.
Sorry, but after reading this over again...you are right, I am under no obligation to save you, however I would like to change the title to...
"If I do something rediculous then please don't blame support for not bailing my butt out of hell come high water, when I decided to split the team, rendering half of the team useless and the other half to dependant on the support said toon can offer"
Long title, but seriously, don't get on our supports back if you decide to play L33t hero, get yourself faceplanted and then need a scapegoat to cry about because you jumped into something that was to much to handle.
This post sort of turns me off.
Sorry for being blunt, but obligation aside, if obligations are obligations, then your obligation to me, and others is not not be jerks and to tell the rest of the team to not be a jerk when others, including myself, cannot meet expectations that are normally easy to meet.
I believe that this thread is the OP's decision, and thats fine, and it could be his playstyle which I wont knock, however it's also the OP's obligation to admit to the team when they sucked out and screwed things up for others. -
The thing I liked about Champions is that when you join a Super Group you get a costume slot and it's free to tailor any new slot you open. Which to me makes perfect sense really.
The concept was so that you could match your team, but truthfully ony some people did that. But again it would make sense that if you joined a team you would get a free tailor session to alter that slot to match the style or colors of your team, or team style.
I found that personally I did not need my other slots. My first costume was the best costume to solidify the toons personality. For instance not many comic super heroes have changed their iconic look far from their original, and when it does happen it's not usually long before it's gone back.
Except with Aquaman...who well...seriously...does it matter if he shows up in PJ's made of Seal Eyelids? Although there were renditions of him that made him a bit more manly, which were acceptable.
Vampirella has been wearing the same... Band Aid for eternity
Wonder Woman is about the same
Bat Man has some variations but not enough to warrent anything slot worthy more than perhaps a refresh of a look here and there.
With going rogue I can see having 3 slots. One for a villain, and one for a hero, and one where you are in a cat suit or lobster boi outfit to RP in Pocket D...or if your risky a secret identity costume.
Thats all I can see really. I even found that with Champions too though. The second costume you make is never going to be paramount to the one you first created to give the toon a super identity.
Lets face it, your original costume is and will always be you golden age costume. Some of em arn't pretty, but neither was Iron Mans old suit, but he threw that out and we know him now by his current, but the memories people attatch to their very first pair of tights will usually be the threads that they will associate with that toon. -
Id go wit Super Reflexes. I love liked that movie and it just seems that the way she was moving was more super reflex based with DB as opposed to Will Power.
Although to be honest the WP part would kick in when she was activated, but rarely did she get injured once she was activated, which would show a high level of dodge and avoidance techniques when face off against an everwhelming number of reavers.
That would be my suggestion, although please ensure her weapons don't match. Mabe a Kopesh with a fantasy sword to make it look more chaotic or like she picked it up.
Origin would be Science, Technology would be second, but Science would be the way to go with a River like toon.
Again not knocking WP, but when not activated River showed very little will power on her own, but when activated there was nothing she could not scale, beat down dodge or gracefully dismiss.
