Signing the online petition can't hurt.

They're up to over 7,000 signatures since just yesterday.
Also, this forum link:

explains how to write to the CEO of NCSoft and make a case, briefly and politely, to keep the game u and running. Write, and write often -- a deluge of physical mail has made a difference in overturning corporate decisions in the past.
And it costs us nothing more than a little time and a book of stamps. -
So this is what CoH being ravaged by corporate CEO's looks like?

Back when NBC cancelled the original “Star Trek” TV series, it was the DELUGE of phone calls and mail from a considerable and outraged fans that finally convinced NBC to return “Star Trek” to the air.
Today news was released that NCSoft is abruptly moving to shut down "City of Heroes". If the players feel that “City of Heroes” should be retained by NCSoft, perhaps emailing and yes, calling, as often as you can to say so might show them we are a considerable fan base, too, and we are asking that our “City of Heroes” MMO to be allowed to continue.

If you look at the "Sticky" threads at the top of the Virtue Forum, you'll see one for "Supergroups" and another for "Villian Groups", which give some good info about a great many types of Virtue SG's and VG's. Hope you find a good fit with one of them.

Very sorry to hear that someone made a fool of themselves trashing the Cape Radio station. The Cape has always been an awesome supporter of both Virtue and the many great groups who play here. I hope the Dev's took appropriate action.
On a more cheerful note, Happy New Year to everyone at the Cape! -
Once bought, how does one access the fireworks emotes? What's the emote command(s) ?

Quote:Just as a clarification, though, there is a world of difference between 'sexy' and 'slutty', and there have been hundreds of female comic characters who were sexy without looking like streetwalkers.SEXIST
This is the comic book genre. The chicks are sexy and the dudes are swollen... that's why we're here. There was not some secret back door entrance in comics that any of you slipped through where the heroic girls are flat chested and wearing frumpy layers. And mind you I say this without even throwing Anime into the mix which is where it starts to get really kooky . However, a sexy female gunslinger with chaps is completely genre appropriate and will be horribly missed. Ugh.
OUCH.
Speaking as a woman player, I cringe at a lot of the trampy female costume options in this game, and this latest costume pack is no exception. I'm not a prude, I'm married and have children of my own. If someone wants to dress their heroine as a saloon girl, that's cool. But for crying out loud, give us some options to NOT dress our Annie Oakley alts as saloon girls! That's all I'm saying. -
Christmas trees, like the small and large lit pines in the Ski Chalet zone.
Amen to bushes and shrubs without the massive planters.
And just about ANYTHING from Manticore's mansion. Those carpets, wallpaper patterns, curtains, windows, and swanky furniture are gorgeous. -
After running the Haunted Mansion misson, instead of exiting, we went back into the mansion to explore. So many fun details and humor there, things we completely missed while blitzing through the first time. Kudoes to the Devs for this one, it was a riot.
I thought the Haunted Mansion would make a fantastic seasonal (Oct) locale for players to visit, explore and socialize in, much like the Ski Chalet. But with not-rotted furniture!
Perhaps Manticore decorates his mansion for Halloween (a combo of the Manticore Mansion and Halloween decorations from Haunted Mansion) and invites Paragon to a month-long party there? Heck, we could have Manticore there as host, with a random selection of party welcomes. -
This year's ECHO was a lot of fun, with new faces and old friends, lively competitions, music and dancing, RP RP RP, and a run on the Seed of Hamidon to wrap things up!
First Ward's Mercyview Church and surroundings made for a great location.
We held a trivia contest with many winners, the Dauntless Reverie Story Competition, wherein contestants sought out the far-flung Dauntless members who each held a portion of a story, collected the various parts, placed them in the right order and then presented the finished story (in the right order) to Nyght-shade. Winners for the competition were: Devilyn Side, and Miscreation.
Winners for the ECHO Costume judging were:
Best Male ECHO Costume: Miscreation
Best Female ECHO Costume: Devilyn Side.
Miscreation & Devilyn Side in their regular costumes (the two on the left side):
And in their ECHO costumes:
For those who couldn't make it, I've posted some of my ECHO screenshots on Flickr, with public access.
If anyone else got good shots, please post the pics of links to them here.
And a Huge Thank You to all those who helped run competitions today, and helped give a warm welcome to our Virtue guests: Lyte Thorsen, the Elysienne, Dr. Solitude and Indigo Shadow, Velvet Soul, and Homerunner, and Vangelus, who DJ'ed the Cape Radio coverage. -

The Dauntless Reverie’s 8th Annual ECHO will be held today, Sunday Nov. 6th, by the Church in the Mercyview Cemetery, Praetoria’s mystical First Ward, starting at 12 Noon Pacific / 3PM Eastern.
Minimum level is 20, and the zone is accessible by heroes and villains alike. Once inside the First Ward, if you need a teleport to the site of the event, send a tell to: @Rhianwen; @LyteInVirtue; or @Elysienne.
Hero Access can be found via Mistress Eva in Talos (marked Underground Imperial) behind the Talos Arena. The portal there will take you to the Praetorian Underground, and the door across the way (by the Doorman) takes you to the NorthEast corner of the First Ward. The Mercyview Church and Cemetery can be found by traveling South down the East side of the First Ward zone, following the outer edge of the city walls.
Villain access is found via Carter Mordeson in the Southeaster Tip of Cap au Diable (marked Underground Imperial) on the Cap map. The portal there takes you to the Praetorian Underground, where the door across the way (by the Doorman) takes you to the Northeast corner of the First Ward. The Mercyview Church and Cemetary can be found by traveling South down the East side of the First Ward zone, following the outer edge of the city walls. -
The Vagabond Mage is still a member, but has been away from the game for a little while. Lyte Thorson and the Elysienne are still about and will be there tomorow, as well. Glad to have you back in-game, and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
We'll post the location here in this thread in a few hours. -
Less than 24 hours to go for the Dauntless Reverie's ECHO event! We look forward to welcoming our guests with RP, competitions and prizes, music and live coverage by The Cape Radio., and to seeing your creativity as you masquerade as your "echo" or "opposite", a reinterpretation or antithesis of yourself.
Check back here after 9 pm Pacific / midnight Eastern to learn the location for this year's event! -
I'd echo the suggestion to try browsing through the "Villain Group" listings and see if anything looks like a good fit for you.
Were you looking for an RP Villain Group, or non-RP? -
A FLYER has been found posted on light posts, trees, building walls, and business bulletin boards throughout Paragon City.
An accompanying card, black with silver and gold finely printed text, is found in a holder close to the Flyer. Heroes also may have received the card in the mail. The text of the card is below.
Quote:Heroes of Paragon City,
What do an oil tanker in Talos Island, the underbelly of Brickstown, a country bridge in Croatoa, a wooded clearing in Perez Park, a small glade by a stream in Galaxy City, a city park in Skyway and a floating construct in Ouroboros all have in common? They have all played host to The Dauntless Reverie's yearly annual celebration of the Autumnal Season of Masks. With great pride, I present...
The 8th Annual ECHO!
So please, join us at the Dauntless Reveries 8th Annual ECHO as we celebrate the Autumnal Season of Masks, and masquerade as your "echo" or "opposite" a reinterpretation or antithesis of yourself. There will be contests and prizes, good music and coverage of the party graciously provided by The Cape Radio and DJ Vangelus, dancing of course, good fellowship and fun.
Festivities will commence at 3 o'clock in the afternoon EST, Sunday, the sixth day of November. Please RSVP to Nyght-shade by email on your Paragon PDA.
The location will be released on the day of the event. Watch your mail-boxes or this location for more information.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Warmest regards,
Fen Monique, otherwise known as Nyght-shade

I know Premium players can still join Super Groups and Villain Groups, or retain memberships in them if the a current SG/VG member drops from VIP to Premium status.
My question is this: Can a Premium player who joins an SG or VG be promoted to Officer rank? Can a VIP SG or VG Officer drop to Premium-player status and still retain their SG/VG Office Rank and duties (invite to SG, Promote/Demote, pay Base Rent?)
I cannot seem to find anything in the Dev forums or the Freedom notes that deals with this aspect of belonging to Super Groups / Villain Groups. -
Quote:How would this theoretical person be able to invite someone else into an SG unless he were already an officer? And how would someone so disreputable --or just so little known to the other members of the SG that he could get away with inviting dummy alts to rob the SG -- ever become an officer in the first place? This was one of the ideas that came up when this was discussed on the beta forums. I agree it's not a bad idea. Something similar could be implemented for SG's, where you can only send an invite to a free player if he's on your friends list.
Seriously, I would certainly hope the Devs would eventually consider allowing premium players to become --or more importantly, remain-- officers in an SG, so long as they fit the group's presumably reasonable criteria for the position, a decision presumably made by the leader and other officers of the SG? -
Very sorry to hear about such a well-respected group as the PK ending. That sort of decision cannot come easily. I wish the leadership and members well as the Paragon Knights take their place in Virtue's lore.

RP Level: RP-intensive in teaming, /coalition and /sg, active on our own forums, and chatty, funny, and sometimes raunchy OOC in Global.
PvP Level: Extremely casual and individually driven.
Theme/Concept: The Dauntless Reverie has been around since beta, and is a fellowship of Heroes whose lives have been touched by magic, who seek in their own ways to help others. They are multitudes: creatures of legend, descendants of the divine, beings blessed and cursed, visitors from fantastic worlds, tormented hellspawn, and students of the arcane. But they are all Dauntless: mystic heroes thrust into an urban setting. The one thing we do look IC for in potential members is "the Will to be Dauntless," the true desire to become a part of this fellowship. This point will be addressed in the IC interview.
Activity: Our prime time is predominantly North American in the evenings, with Mondays as our weekly SG night.

Just taking a moment from the busy Holiday preparations to wish all of you a wonderful Holiday Season, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, Kwanzai, Yule, or just a chance to go to some great parties!
May you find time for good friends and family, good food, great parties, and Joy as the year winds down and a new one approaches! -
Just as an FYI, Cape Radio is also doing their "Winter Gala: 8 hours of music, fun and events" at the Ski Chalet on the 18th.
-
"Farscape", a really wonderful series. And it was on back when the channel was called SciFi Channel -- for "Sci"ence "Fi"ction, right?
I just don't get this whole "Syfy" name-change business. Every time I see "syfy", it makes me think of an unfortunate social disease, not, I'm guessing, what the network trend-spin execs were shooting for.
