Blue Steel destroyed the periodic table, because the only element he understands is the element of surprise.

  5. It's =my= game. People say so all the time.

Girlfriend: Off to play your game now?

Friend: What'd you do in your game last night?

Co-worker: You're always talking about your game when I'm trying to work!

Boss: You wouldn't be in here if you did your work and didn't talk about your game all day.

  7. I have 9, apparently. The only one I'm going to keep:

    From: AnotherDeadHero
    Date: 01/27/05
    Subject: Remind Me

Remind me never to do a TF with you

    TF "Must Haves"?

    You need:

-A headstrong, fearless leader who makes mistakes but overcomes them with teamwork and heart
-A quiet, brooding foil who challenges the leader when he makes mistakes and is always right beside him in combat
-A gruff but helpful veteran player who has the others in awe
-A brainiac with an IO'd out build who's done this TF a dozen times and knows all the best tactics- or thinks he does
-A slightly unhinged, wisecracking comic relief who's the only one trying to pay attention to the story
-A newbie tagalong who's never done a Task Force before and is likely to be the first one to hit the ground

But in my case, generally when I'm putting together a Task Force I couldn't afford to discriminate by build if I wanted to, I'll take what I can get.

And you know what? Those ragtag teams always succeed in the end.

  9. If we get too much more customization in this game, it'll make meow farms look like nap time at kindergarden. People will be in Steel Canyon going all SimCity on the buildings and cars and stuff.

I think you could get people to play the 20-hour Click 90,000 Glowies in Oranbega TF if it gave 999 merits.

I'd do that TF for zero merits. Sounds AWESOME!

    TF "Must Haves"?

Some folks have mental holdovers from other, lesser games, where a holy trinity of heal-tank-dps is essential.

Some people are locked in a tactical freeze, unable to consider approaches other than "what worked last time."

The preferred approach becomes dogma, and anything different becomes heresy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much my experience of people who "have to have" the right team makeup. Usually, no amount of explanation will sway them from their mistaken beliefs.

And yet sometimes I still join because I have a few hours to burn through.

I can't decide which is worse about the Posi TF, the 4 straight "Run back and forth from one Zone to another Zone and Click on a Person" Missions or the final 4 straight "Defeat All missions".

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the standard PUG (which I normally join), the first one. Traveling and Zoning does more to slow down a team than most anything else. At least in the Defeat Alls, you're beating up stuff and getting XP or exemplared influence.

And I agree with other posters above (and previously in many identical threads going back through the tapestry of time...): As the first TF a new player can undertake, it will most likely leave a lasting bad impression.

I've noticed that whenever I get huge clumps of e-spams, like 80% or so of it is all from "empty".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Usually, the character that sent the email has been deleted, but the account is still there, which you can verify by clicking the Spam button. If you get an error, the account's gone; if you get an ignore message (for the global account), it was just the character.

    [ QUOTE ]
Couldn't they make it so that when a character/account no longer exists, all their sent emails are automatically wiped?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a bad suggestion, actually, but (like most things) probably extremely tough to implement. The messages are already sent; they'd have to create some database crawler that purged the data. Those kinds of things are extremely processor- and database-intensive. Which, of course, would affect the rest of the game that needs those resources.
