Quote:No, you're not. I usually craft common IOs for my characters, but with the explosion of salvage prices, I've taken to selling everything to fund SOs until they hit 50, and =then= flush them out with common IOs.You mean I'm not the only one in the universe who thinks this? I've always found all the arguments that 'X set sucks because Y set performs way better if you IO it to the soft cap' and 'Defenders suck because you can use IOs to beat their performance' to be kind of silly, since about 5% of the people I look at have more than a handful of set bonuses listed.
As to the original topic, I don't have an answer. The game has never lost its compelling interest for me.

Quote:Ok, I get it, but at some point, will the needle bore a hole in the broken record?I think we can all agree that regardless of the quality of the graphics, a game has to have moving hair to be properly successful.
Quote:Dark Watcher said on air (and I will ahve it up for podcast on The Cape's site (see sig) this weekend), "Yes it is just the tip of the iceburg."
Therefore, there is more to come, and a first glimpse, major glimps at some aspects, but first glimpse, is just that.
Quote:But the mitten hands are so adorable! Like cute little plushies! xD
Regarding the feet though, yes. The human feet look terrible in this game.

One thing I haven't seen here yet is the difference between rank (sergeant, lieutenant) and position (platoon leader, XO).
Each unit has specified positions that are normally filled by a "best" rank, but can be filled by a lesser rank or even empty. For example, an infantry company commander (CO) is supposed to be a Captain, but sometimes you see First Lieutenants as COs.
On staff versus field officers: even in a front-line infantry battalion, you have field officers that lead the three combat companies, and staff officers that perform functions like Supply, Intel, and Operations.
Sam, for purposes of your story, a field officer could combat troops in battle, and then be assigned Intel in a field unit. If he proves himself adept in that role, he can rise as an Intel officer in rank and position (Captain Intel in the battalion, Major Intel in the brigade, and so on).
These forums are awesome, indeed.

My guess would be none, since GR is a mere expansion to the existing game.
But we'll find out, in time, I'm sure.

The highlight for me was just being there. You guys are all great. Thanks for putting up with me!

I mentioned it at the breakfast, but you might want to try making your own bacon cinnamon rolls.

Shroud and I made it back (hopefully my posting has been a tip-off to that) to cold and rainy Seattle. Too bad about this going-to-work-everyday thing I'm back to doing...

Curses! Replibots, GET HIM!
Quote:Wait...but if the heroes of Paragon and the villains of the Rogue Isles are now moving in to Praetoria...doesn't that mean old brass bucket face is going to follow them?
Quote:Ok, this is what bugs me, Emperor Cole is also Tyrant, correct? There must be a huge retcon in the works, because previously Tyrant was portrayed at a level of evil that Lord Recluse would be jealous of. In the comics (which have been shown to be canonical with events like Posi's healing, Manticore & Sister Psyche's wedding, even War Witch's ghost) Tyrant rules from a junk heap that used to be their world's version of Atlas Park. He was flat out evil, up to and including torturing Statesman, and a strongly implied inappropriate relationship with his granddaughter.
I've heard that some new Praetorian zones will show that all is not bright and chipper, but Praetoria looks far too shiny to soon to be the same location depected previously. And this new Emperor Cole sounds like a good guy that made a very wrong decision, not the scum-sucking villain we've previously known as Tyrant.
Yeah, I think it's safe to say there are going to be LOTS of inconsistencies with the current lore until it's retconned.
THANK YOU! Sorry John; you were great as Flux!

Quote:I don't like PVP, but I can understand that those who do would like more participation. Good luck in your efforts. And hopefully the feedback in this thread will help you improve your guide.Basically "the more the merrier" applies in PvP. Though some zones are still active, i'd like to see even more people in those zones so here I am personally calling out the CoX universe.

No, not that I remember. They talked about the Clockwork themselves, and the roles they play in society.

We don't know if he's there or not. Yet.

At HeroCon, I went to the lore session where they explained the background of Praetoria. Joe Morrissey and the other guy (who's name, I'm embarrassed to admit, I don't know) made it clear that, as far as the new lore goes, Praetoria is an alternate timeline where things went a bit differently.
Joe said, as an example, the Superman comic Red Son.
In that world, like ours, Marcus Cole tries to make the world a better place. In our world, he saves it, and then leaves it to us to mess up again, over and over. In Praetorian Earth, the Korean War went a bit differently, and he decided to act to make the world a better place permanently.
A utopia, but with a price.
Joe also said that the new Praetoria lore will eventually be retconned back into the Portal Corps missions. Although the new character models will be in those missions on release.
I don't remember all the details, but I do remember thinking how much background has gone into Praetoria. There is no Clockwork King. Joe explained how, with extra leisure time, Praetoria has developed more science, art, and culture. The Clockwork are there to do the menial jobs. The Other Guy said, "If your hobby is manual labor, you'll really have to work at it."
Also, there is no Nemesis in Praetorian Earth. Also, the Devouring Earth are a lot more powerful there than they are in our world.
TL;DR version: It's not opposite world. Just a different timeline.

They said at HeroCon that being able to edit power pool effects is coming.
No, they didn't say when.

Thanks Fuzun!
I think you had the hardest-working camera at the con!

Quote:I don't know if they can enter PVP zones from either side, but the devs at HeroCon were pretty consistently specific. You're a hero, even when you're a vigilante, until you're a villain; you're a villain, even when you're a rogue, until you're a hero. Do the math.I wonder how PVP plays out for Rogues/Vigilantes? Can they enter PVP Zones from either side?
Or will they be neutrals?

Quote:This is the key part, to me. I don't mind doing them once in a while, but when they all stack up, I get pretty irritated.I could drone on and on about how much I hate a single PvP zone visit, but the truth is, I don't mind. It's getting three-four missions at a time with this that really gets my goat.
I'd like to see them extend the mission drop option.
"I'm sorry, but you've already used your mission drop feature, and can't complete this mission for partial XP. But, if you'd like, you can forfeit any completion xp and drop the mission anyway. Complete this mission for no xp? (Yes/No)"
HELL YES!

Quote:I was at the presentation where Positron explained how it works. Basically, you have three flavors, regardless of your alignment: hero/villain, vigilante/rogue, villain/hero.We're all just speculating here. Nobody knows for sure what the Going Rogue system is going to be like, what restrictions Rogues or Vigilantes will have, what they're allowed to do etc.
When you're the "gray" alignment, you can go to the other side and team with people that belong on that side, but you can't access the content yourself or use the market. Not until you fully convert to that side.
Apologies if this has been explained somewhere else.

Quote:Sexy Jay said that when he was designing the Praetorian Clockwork, that he wanted that Terminator-style exposed spine. You can totally see it in the Praetorian Clockwork temp costume power. As a robot, I call BS on that.
DECENT Robot parts are inceredibly hard to make. The choice of boots outside of monstrous tech legs is appalingly low. all the old boots look horrible, with club feet. Really, really ugly.
The new clockwork actually look robotic, though. The chest has decent gaps, wiring and cables. The arms look robotic. ALL of it looks robotic.
