While I may not always understand what Arcanaville is saying, I'm always entertained by it. And, occasionally I learn something.

Is that even an option for new players? Aside from the difficulty issue, I find the canon issue to be even greater.

  2. A self-professed COH fanboi, I still play the other two superhero MMOs, thanks to lifetime subscriptions. Though =nowhere= near as much as I play COH. They each have their pros and cons, and I think the world is a better place for having them around. To each their own.

  3. This thread has evolved beyond where Sam started it (surprise!), but let me circle around and say at least he has the gumption to keep trying.

I played through Praetoria exactly once, and I was done. Screw the other moralities, I have more fun things to do with my time. The joy of this game is that is has so many options available.

Ditto. Yours are what they are; mine are "characters".

THIS is why I keep a current image of the build on a flash drive, along with the ftp installer.

    1. Install game.
    2. Overwrite install with image.
    3. ...
    4. Profit!

With 4 computers to update (and sometimes deal with hardware issues), why wait for all of them to download and apply a major release, much less a new install?

I look forward to Steelclaw's Ping-Pong tournament rules.

As a long-time player with mostly Fly, I =still= do this. "Ok, gotta get to King's Row. If I take the train to IP and then fly through the tunnel... hey, how's the rest of the team there already?"

    Pointless Padding or legitimate strategy?
Legitimate strategy, especially if you have a life, can't run the WST four times a day, and hope to find a team to run it when you're on at some weird time without having to spend 45 minutes cobbling together a team.

Yeah, the people that put the "run" in "running a TF" need a speedbump now and then.

Oh, I think there's an option. I saw in the Incarnate box that you can craft the rare item with 32 shards.

I kinda like the GMOTD, since I can call that up with a /gmotd command.

How about on Mender Ramiel's contact page? Since he's the one that sort of kicks off and manages your initial foray into incarnateness...

Same here. I've turned it on once or twice for effect; I used it for AFK once, where I learned about the 5-minute timer.

  13. I don't see what the big deal is. I've been in Icon many times over my career, and my experience is that they'll let =anyone= in or out of there. Seriously, it's like they don't have any standards at all!

  14. When I team with Sam, the only purples I get are my fingertips from chatting so much. I'd love to have a beer with the dude, just to see how much more we could talk about in the same amount of time.

Oh yeah, and we finish some missions, too.

    The O Zone.

What? I heard it's being depleted or something. We should make one.

And the part I hated for new players. Being forced through the, yes, better new player experience is still confusing. "Loyalist? Resistance? Where's the part where I'm a superhero?"

GG's pedantic one-liners aside, it's really a game mechanic for rolling an AT to any side, not introducing new players to the City Of universe.

    Yes, both of these.

I also still think in zone gates, not travel shortcuts. "Ok, Brickstown to King's Row. Let's see... train to Talos, fly to the Skyway gate, fly across Skyway to King's Row gate... why did everyone go straight to King's Row? OH DERP!"

  24. If I'm trying to do one of my non-PVP things in a PVP zone, and a PVPer starts attacking me, I just stand there and let him finish me off. A quick trip to the hospital makes for a faster exit from the zone, and I can come back some other time when he's not there.
