Are you sure you didn't turn the in-game filter off? I know I did, hence why I never would've found that out myself.

Either way, I don't see how one *lits a throat, anyway, or why an in-game enemy, outside of AE if that's relevant, would say that.

Maybe the Knives are kinky like that. I dunno.

Actually we do get another 2XP weekend with the release of I16, simply because that last 2XP weekend just kept heaping technical difficulties.

And just to stay on topic:

Oh woe is me! I have to wait like an entire month before I can toy with some new feature! Whatever shall I do!

    Me Now Generation indeed...
  3. The censors really are messed up, not just in-forum, but in-game, too.

A buddy of mine once ran into a Knife of Artemis that said something like "I'll slit his throat" or whatever, and naturally that nice four-letter word was censored because apparently it can refer to female genitalia or something. Best part is that I only found about this AFTER I heard about that word being censored.

The censor even strikes the game's own dialogue. If that's not a sign of going overboard, I don't know what is.
  4. Clearly, you are all wrong.

Games are not about fun, they are about getting progressively larger numbers! It's why farming will never go out of style!

Quite honestly, I don't get that mindset. There's not a lot you can do with merits but get recipes and salvage to get IOs that'll make getting merits easier which in turn makes getting IOs easier, repeat ad nauseum. I guess I can see the appeal of building a toon that's a one-man-army that can take down Lord Recluse's four lieutenants all on their own at the end of the STF, but making such a build requires so much grinding and monotonous farming that, in the end, it seems more like work than fun.

People can farm all they like, all I'm saying is I don't understand these guys. If max rewards is all you're after, aren't you really just removing 99% of the game from your game?

I guess what I'm saying is that the Katie Hannon Task Force has a lot of merit, and I'm not speaking about the reward at the end of it.
  5. Aside from canonical issues, there's no way to fix it that wouldn't also take a revamp of how the whole weapons thingy works.

Take normal weapons for example, like rifles or swords and all that fancy stuff. They are technically always on your characters, but show up as invisible. They become visible when you use them, though. It's that method that allowed weapon customisation, apparently.

It makes sense for most weapons, but the backpack? Apply the same method to the backpack, and it would only show up when you used a backpack-related power. That makes even less sense than a Crab Spider using a mace. So unlike other weapons, the backpack is always visible.

Hell, even if you did make it invisible when using your Bane build, it would still be there, and you still cannot use capes. It's invisible, but still there. Don't believe me? Use your Crab build and go to the tailor. I assure you, your mace will show up under weapon customisation.

I can see why you'd want the backpack to vanish into thin air with your Bane build, but conflicts with your character concepts won't make this any easier to 'fix'. And it still makes no sense a backpack attached to your spine would just be taken off like a shirt, anyway.
  6. I wanna see a boss challenge against lots of Paragon Protector Elites and Longbow Wardens. Like a box of pralinés, you never know what's going to murder you horribly, trigger Moment of Glory or simply resurrect when you least expect it.
  7. Bah, the Fifth Column already sneaked some sleeper agents into the forum!

    AE Stories.

The very idea of Masterminds is orchestrating events, though.

CoX errs on the side of being too easy, so you can get to 50 with the club approach, and less than optimal control of your pets. MMs aren't a hugely complicated mysterium that only a select few geniuses can figure out, even basic tactics can get the job done well enough, but it takes a couple of mistakes to realise that putting your pets on aggressive will make them aggro everything in a three-mile radius while not body-guarding you, or that when you tell a pet to hunt down an enemy, they will hunt it to the end of the world, even if it means aggroing countless mobs along the way.

Personally, I feel the three macros the game gives fresh new MMs are inadequate, and are useful only for the club-approach, except said approach might just end up aggroing way too many mobs, and when you're on a team, that can be quite annoying for other team members, especially the squishier ones, including you if you use the given attack macro and none of your pets are guarding you anymore.

There's tankers and defenders that completely ignore their primary sets because they'd rather deal damage, and blasters that complain about flace-planting every time they gut up-close and personal with enemies. All I'm saying is that I am not surprised there's people who have absolutely no idea how to keep track of their henchmen.

    Mars Symbol?

    [ QUOTE ]
The Mars and Venus chest symbols are gender-exclusive!!???!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Furthermore, in the hard-boiled world of Paragon City, only men ever smoke, and only women are allowed to keep pets around because men would just kill them with cigarette smoke.

I don't think everything needs to be made unisex, I can even see the logic behind the mars/venus thing, but the cigarettes and pets will never stop bothering me.

    AE Stories.

MMs have a steep learning curve (compared to any other AT).

Several AE babies do not like to learn.

    You do the math.
  11. I heard Pinnacle is the drunk server. Depending on your mileage, this may other be the best thing or the worst thing.

A strange thought occurred to me as I was laying in bed last night:

What if them letting everyone do this AE thing strictly to 50 is part of a larger idea?

What IF by playing in the ae you log in hours to their data mining software? and what IF they use that data to flag your CHARACTERS, not account, for certain things.

What if by allowing you to do this they are simply allowing you to dig yourself into a hole? What if by going from one to fifty strictly there's a consequence? Lets say a team was unhappy about how their masterpiece of an issue was turned into a laughable version of their "vision", then lets say instead of doing the standard UBER nerfing of it, they let you do it. Letting their modules mine whose doing WHAT, and how often.

They then use this data to flag specific characters in all your accounts to be rewarded different. No examples, just general thoughts..

Wouldn't THAT be a plan instead of getting huffy about things publicly and rather directly smacking people around for disrupting your vision?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a character that I am well on my way to leveling to 50 via the MA almost entirely... and I haven't farmed even once. I've not even done the same story arc in the MA more than once so far.

So... would this great idea punish me too?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, his post screams CONSPIRACY THEORY, so...

Using the MA to play user-created story arcs as an alternative to dev-created story arcs is the stated purpose of the AE. So, really, you're the first person I met that used the AE as the devs intended.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
and/or think they have the right to ask other players about how to play the game after they just blew through all the content that would have taught them everything they needed to know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They have that right. It's unfortunate they skipped all the content just to get fifty, but if they show even the slightest willingness to learn how to play the game and you blow them off, then frankly, you're part of the problem.

    Dumb Moments...

My biggest Dumb Moment in the game was when I started using the market.

Been playing for months and ignored it. I was content just buying SOs from stores and selling all my stuff to them (save from origin-specific enhancements). It wasn't until the guy that I introduced to the game and who hadn't been playing for more than two weeks started to use the market intensively, and in a moment of nonsensical pride I decided not to be outdone by my mentee.

A friend of mine helped me whip up an IO build in Mids, so I just had to gather all the recipes and salvage. I bought ten salvage of one kind, then later on went to buy one, for what my standards where back then, somewhat expensive recipe. Only after clicking buy did I notice I bought a whopping ten of that stupid recipe, and naturally I'm the only one who wants those, too, so no selling them back.

I became broke in a single moment. That was very much a "noooooo!" moment for me. In the end, I decided to use the merits I had been hording for no reason to buy arcane salvage and sell it on the market, and actually got the amount of inf I used to have back. Didn't change the shock of seeing all my inf disappear, though.
  15. Me, I'm kinda anxious about starting teams. The moment I have the star next to my nick, I feel responsible for the enjoyment of the whole team. When someone quits without the same old "bye, thanks for playing", it feels to me like they didn't have fun, and I take that as an enormous personal failure. It's extremely silly, I know, but I just can't help it.

Thankfully, the game is extremely soloable. For me, the only real reason for teaming is the social interaction aspect, and by now I learned to just chat in global channels, so I get my fix there while planning. Still, if there's something I really want that requires a team, I'm quick to form one. If I come across a GM, within five minutes I'll have a full team of eight ready, which is usually enough to take most GMs down. If there's a TF I wanna do that's not the ITF, I'm not going to wait for someone else to start one.

The best part is that being the team leader isn't even such a big deal. Essentially all you do is set the current mission and the team's good to go. I am consciously aware of that, and I made enough team-leading experiences to cement that fact, but it'll never change the fact that I'd rather take the advisor than the leader position. All the influence without any of the responsibility, real or imagined.

    Sally

    I'm so ashamed.

After I helped a friend transfer a purple recipe between two toons, I used the base Teleporter to Croatoa to get to the Midnight Club as fast as possible (been dayjobbing the character there), and on the way I noticed Sally.

I swam up to her and with impulses beyond my conscious control, I gave her a good whack in the back.

I cannot look myself in the mirror anymore. I'm such a monster.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Incidentally, Task Forces are much more fun while drunk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

These words speak to my soul.
  18. Well, considering the devs pretty much said making the Epic Archetypes unlockable only when getting a toon to 50 was a mistake, maybe getting a Blaster to 50 in GR will unlock the HEATs and then switching sides will unlock the VEATs. It would half-'fix' the problem by cutting the grind-to-fifty in half for those that want the EATs ASAP.

Also I want two Praetorian EATs or PEATs.
  19. Aside from the back details, Crabs use the normal, grey-ish normal whereas you need to use Custom for proper Bane coloration. I also think Bane Spiders use thinner leg armor, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

Either way, I recently respecced my Crab into a Bane, and his uniform is virtually indistinguishable from normal Bane Spider Executioners. I find using a reference picture helps when going for authenticity.

    The devs hate dev-hatin'.
  21. The devs hate forum-merging.

    Sally

    [ QUOTE ]
I had a thread in suggestions for a while (It's been purged) to change Sally to be immune to attack, and add an NPC to the edge of the lake who gives out a Camera temp power. Rather than "killing" her, you'd take her picture. Get two pictures for the badge

    [/ QUOTE ]

That certainly makes more sense, considering a hero wouldn't wait for a docile creature to show up... then set it on fire. I know heroes have flexible morality (even moreso with Going Rogue coming), but that's pretty much the equivalent of kicking a 20 meter tall puppy.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
It is true that it had a few exceptional titles, but that did not make the system itself anything more than horrid... And the N64's controller was one of its most outstanding flaws, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The N64 controller is the kind of special where you make a short pause before the word 'special' because you cannot think of a better euphemism.

Didn't stop me from owning that or its follow-up consoles. I blame crazy video-game mind control for being Nintendo's little [censored].

    Sally

Poor Sally, she's just minding her own business and everyone still wants a piece of her. Twice.
  25. The fun thing is that my main toon is "naked, but she replaced all her skin, and the rest of her body as well, with robot stuffs.

Better yet, all her other costumes are just clothes put on that, and when I use the evil laugh /cc, it looks like her clothes are burning away. I only realised that in hindsight, funnily enough.

Also fun is going to the Pocket D to call some guy-toons creepy stalkers only to have them respond omg nobody would shaq you. Showing skin? Bah, my cranium is visible! Men just don't know how to appreciate a woman with brains to show off.
