aww no, that sucks. Car troubles are one of the most annoying things plus the always stupidly large expenses. See you when you get back.

I only consider the game done on one of my characters. Completed every arc, no more contacts to get, purpled up pretty well and have every badge i can feasibly get or am interested in makeing an effort for. So that character has more or less completed the game for me until we get new content. I do still bring it out almost every day however. Of course there's my other 11 50's yet to 'complete' the game as i consider it, and the rest of the alts in action.

I don't think it's big enough for two? is Australia full or something? This seems to split the community for no gain. I'm on victory, so staying with a purely organising channel becomes pretty pointless for me. I signed up to Australia to hear from some of the fellow Australians i may never meet otherwise. If people are using Australia for the wrong purpose or to insult/attack others then punish them ,not split the player base needlessly. A little bit of banter and fun is what makes this community better than many others.

This was a really fun TF Hamster, thanks for setting it up. I was Katrina, one of the 2 pistol/devices blasters. Impossible to see anything most of the time between 3 masterminds worth of pets but awesome anyway.

Quote:Ok first one i guess it's someone who doesn't like losing powers from exemplaring ,and if they're level 50 there's not much gain."Teams my level or higher" (with supersidekicking, whodoyouthinkyou'refooling?)
"not interested in teaming" (then why aren't you flagged as 'no teaming'?)
"SG ONLY" (why?)
Discuss/add.
Not interested in teaming- Probably sick of all the people who don't notice/ignore the fact their flag is not set looking for team. I know the feeling.
SG only- i use this one on a few of my characters. Because sometimes i want to play the game with people i know and who i can count on to play their part. Not have to explain the finer points of tactics to some kid or gibbering fool who has no idea what he's doing. Also avoids the people who think i have nothing better to do then borrow my level 50 tank to carry their brand new toon around. Or i'm just feeling anti social and i don't want to spend time getting to know you, no matter how awesome you are. I Have some more creative forms of this too. MY main tank is something along the lines of "I am a warrior not a pack mule. I will not carry your butt." -
^This^ A level 50 anything should have at least a couple of 100mil to spend. I spend a couple of mil crafting or at the tailor changing my costumes without a 2nd thought. Once the games back up i'm gonna log in and collect my 100mil from the market from selling stuff while i was asleep/working. See, with the market you can literally get rich in your sleep.

Ohh This thread again, seems familiar. How come it seems so difficult for most people to realise that the so called crazy prices sets sell for is only bad when you're buying and that you don't HAVE to buy it nao? The whole market system and supply and demand can work for you if you start getting things people need. I dig the prices people are willing to pay for my recipes 20 merits gets me on a random roll or bronze rolls from the architect. I couldn't tell you how often one lucky roll spending merits from doing my regular arcs or a single TF has bankrolled a ton of other things i need. I like my level 5 character can run a few easy architect missions and take his newely purchased *insert best rare salvage here* via tickets down to the nearby market and make 2-3mil. They even placed both buildings together in Atlas park so you don't have to walk far. We're just ignoring the fact everything isn't completely priced out of any players reach .A few, really rare pieces are. Purples and PVP io's shouldn't even be included in discussions about how hard it is to finish a build and how expensive sets can be. They're an aberration.

1. New badges
2. Praetoria and any new content in general
3. Badges
4. Mail system
5. Side switching. Looks interesting and will spice things up but not sure how much i'll utilise yet ,depends on the trade offs to do it
5.Badges(did i mention that already?)
6.Any new costume pieces, i want new custom weapons too.
7. AE improvements. With luck people will use it for more than farming and discover there's plenty of other good missions to run (like mine, hint hint)
8.and well i guess everything else too, nothing i'm not looking forward too. I'm even looking forward to things we don't know about yet. -
Quote:I have currently 11 50's, and a few other characters of varuious levels. The higher the level generally the more io pieces or sets. Every character relys and runs off generic ios at least ,with other enhancements a stop gap until i get the salvage i require. It's just as easy for me now to swing buy a university or crafting center and hit buy, craft, slot as it is to search out a specific origin store and scroll through a list of enhancements. Plus just looking for damage and level in a menu is easier than whatever unusual names this group of enhancements uses. MY main 50 has handful of purple sets and all the other best A+ i could get. The cost would be in the billions easily. My other 50's would all have io sets but stopping short of all the greatest sets unless i happen to score them as a random roll or some such. In fact i had a streak of luck so i have at least half a dozen toons running with numinas +regens and LOTG's + recovery and a lucky level 38 alt with miracle. Io sets for me are something extra to do after i make 50 and carry on a character after investing time in it.You have a point there. I suppose I should rephrase the question as "how likely people who get many characters into the high levels to get into serious Inventions? I'm aware that not everybody has multiple characters in range of the thickest Inventions Sets, and it seems to me that most often those who get into that are the sort of people who stick to a few special characters, rather than branching out into alts.
You say this like I sat down and made a note: "I will not enjoy Inventions. So sayeth the Sam!" I didn't. The process is entirely backwards. I didn't devise the reasons and then set out to ruin my enjoyment because of them. I don't enjoy inventions. That's the originator of the problem. That's the source of all of this. I don't enjoy Inventions and all the justifications are born out of this fact. Even if you people manage to disprove all of my justifications for it, you're not going to convince me to like them.
I thought most people were coming in explaining their use of inventions and justifications. Presenting both sides of the argument, not calling you stupid Samuel. But you're the only one who seems to keep appearing and insisting on decrying io sets. You've explained why they're not to your taste and why noones going to change your mind. Fair enough. Many players, myself included, like to see a hard built character get better, improve a little. Even if it's just a funny little number. If noones going to convince you to like them then their arguments aren't directed at you, they're more for the other players like the OP. You don't need to keep dragging your soap box in and screaming the evilness of the invention system to the heavens. It's been nobodys choice but yours to ignore all of it, not just the bits requireing major effort. I don't like PVP. I don't get it at all so you know what, i avoid any discussions about it because i have nothing to contribute. No ones going to convince me to get involved in it but i'm not going to but a dampener on other peoples enjoyment by saying it's terrible. i wouldn't spend 20 posts having a discussion with someone about how thier view point is wrong and getting riled about a perception of being called stupid but at the same time calling THEM stupid for trying to change my point of view. -
Quote:Not true. 38 mil might not get you a full builds worth of generic io's but it will get plenty. Depending if he buys from workbenches, or bids on them. Or he could just run a few missions and let some drop. Or instead of 50 generics buy 45's. Half the cost and nearly the same bonuses, still better than SO's at max level. And the cost of most of the salvage will be nothing because only commons are required for generic sets and the game is flooded with that stuff from all the farming lvl 50's. You probably have a pack full of salvage to turn into invention pieces right now. Set io's wouldn't be anymore expensive to craft, as long as you start with sets that don't require anything ultra rare for now.You need a lot more inf to consider even generic IO's - that amount will barely cover the crafting costs alone, let alone the salvage and recipes needed. IO sets are even more expensive to craft - you probably don't have enough to cover the crafting costs (borderline).
Your best course of action is to visit the market forums and learn how to turn your inf into more influence. Or simply play more and earn more.
The good news is: if you reached 50 with this build, it probably isn't broken, and you can afford to be patient. -
OK to answer the intent of your question. Maybe. I use IO's a lot but many people will tell you they'renot really necessary, and they're right. In saying that, seeing this is your main and you've spent so long building up to 50 apparently you probably don't want to just drop it and move on yet. My main gets all the best loot too. Choosing to slot it up with the fanciest stuff you can buy is a good way to keep the toon going and keep playing it if you choose. You can get some useful pieces and sets for reasonably cheap. Instead of spending that 38mil on one thing, see what bargains you can get if you're a bit more patiant. If you're level 50 and still using SO's i wouldn't worry about generic io's necessary, just start straight on invention sets then. Without knowing any details about your character it's hard to recommend anything specific. But there's lots of good 'chance of' io pieces out where you only need them and not anything else from the sets to get a bonus. The good ones are probably more than 38 mil though. The positive news is now that you've made level 50 influence is easy, or easier, to make.

Yes, there's actually quite a few arcs that don't award the badges matching the section you find them in Ourobouros. Origin of Power, Introduction to Vanguard, Welcome to Ourobouros and i believe Daedolous's first arc come to mind. Running a character through to get all the challenge badges i found a few screwy ones.
-
Hmm a lot to me is probably one 1 billion .I don't play the market very much ,just sell what i don't need for a reasonable price. It's taken me a while to get that much on any one toon and i'm not quite there yet. I have spent that much and more on a few builds but getting and keeping that much liquid cash without spending it somehow is the difficult part that makes 1 billion for me a big number. 100mil or so i can get almost by accident in a good play session with a lucky drop or two and running around with that much on a character isn't terribly uncommon.

Quote:That's still far less convenient from a certain perspective, though, Goat. SOs I can replace NOW. I don't have to plan in advance, I don't have to worry about room, I don't have to WAIT. I'd be plotting along and be like *DING* Huh? I levelled up? Oh, hey, I can use level 30 SOs! Off to the store, me hearty! Five minutes later, I'm sporting a brand new set of enhancements.
With Inventions, that's not even close to how it goes. Since I never, EVER plan ahead, I end up having to buy Inventions both for a high price and very slowly, so whenever I level up, I end up devoting an hour, possibly two to this and blowing quite literally my entire stock of Inf on Inventions.
In fact, getting a stack of Inventions is THE MOST BORING THING that I have to do in the entire game, and this is including all of those "Go speak with" missions AND the irritating treks between Crimson and Indigo. I HATE HATE HATE getting Inventions.
I know we're unlikely to convince you otherwise, you have your way that works. I can't go as far as Goat, figuring out everything i might need, filling all my purchase slots with bids for things i may need in 5 levels. But crafting inventions you need can be as quick and easy as visitng the market or a vendor to sell that stack of recipes and salvage you have. Take a few minutes between missions whenever it's convenient for you to stop by a university and see what you can craft. Don't waste time at the market if you don't want, i rarely do. Just craft from what you have on hand. If you're doing tasks around your level and fighting a mix of foes you'll have all the parts you need for enhancements of your level. And a few extra minutes at a uni saves you more time and trouble with expireing enhancements later. Then if you still end up with some empty slots or not getting what you need then buy regular enhancements to complete things. Don't bother wasting your time replacing every invention every time you can use the next level. The whole point is you don't have to, freeing you up to keep playing. Taking hours is an extreme method, you can still utilise inventions without going that far. This is more directed at people that don't use them than you specifically Samuel, but your post happened to stick out at me at the time. In summary, inventions doesn't have to be work if you don't want it to be. -
I've definitely been left blushing after a few that have gone out on the wrong channel or something similar. I don't actually remember seeing or recieving too many. I have seen many a time when you end up only getting half a conversation because someone insists on chatting in local when their partner isn't.

in short, yes there's others who don't use io's but not me. I don't get those who complain it's too much work getting io's. Your basic io's are just as much effort, or less than having to visit the stores and restock your do's or so's every few levels. I slot io's as i go along, whenever my recipes or salvage fill up. Instead of having to visit a specific store you can go to any university and get io's. Take a couple of minutes at the nearest university or your base if you're lucky enough to have a good one and craft what you can at the time and that's a few more slots you never have to think about again if you don't want. Especially once you get up to using 30/35's basic io's. It's not even THAT expensive to just buy directly from the workbench if trying to find what you want at wentworths is the part that turns you off. I'll slot so's if they happen to drop and give a better bonus than what i have but they usually get replaced. I very rarely have the issue of any enhancements going red now and always have plenty of influence to spare. I'm also lucky that i'm able to keep my sg base well stocked in basic io's of every level.

Heh no of course not, but don't always exist wel ltogether. See Freedom server. That line was more i nreply to scooters comment tha tthe reason rp is dead on victory supposedly is because we're the powergamer server. I rp extensively as do many of my friends and sg. If you're with a decent crowd it might catch on if you start rping a bit, i've seen that all people need is some encouragement sometimes.
-
Maybe we could change that and get some more. People might just need some encouragement. There are a few rpers around, including myself but yeah it is usaully a rare occurance to run into one. But no more hard to find than any server apart from virtue i imagine. I always thought everyone on the server was too friendly to be powergamers.
-
This was a lot of fun just scoping out everyones toons, even if i don't get near winning. Events like this and the character auction previously have been a great way of getting many people on the server together and reminding me how cool a crowd we have. I was so busy playing up to the crowd i almost missed actually entering, and lost most of my costume to the crowd too

Ha beat you both. Dames of Heaven are a NO man supergroup. And still recruiting by the way, as always. We've now busted into the top 20 rated supergroups.
-
Master is correct. You have to be of a high enough level to run the arc to get the badge, and hence earn vanguard merits. The justification being you're too weak to be much use drafting into the fight against the Rikti. Bucky was handy against the nazis when partnered up with his mentor Cap and being ssked. On his own probably not so much. Yeah unfortunately Tech and Vanguard are the only real energy blades available, unless i'm forgetting about one right now.

A Great event MP, thanks for setting up. I'm with Grey, some of the amounts of influence throwen about were just staggering. MP is too modest to mention she was the prize catch of the night and people were desperate to win her time. Can't wait for the next special event.

Nice cut and paste job taking things out of context Nictus. Yeah i don't think a "warning" is warranted, but thanks for the publicity and infamy.

Anyone else thinking we'll get more downtime now tonight to fix this patch and reupload or will they be considerate enough to roll it into thursdays downtime?
